And, ironically, it is available for sale on Amazon.com, but at $50 more than B&N sells it.

I think the S-IPS screen is what attracted me to the Nook Color.

Nook

Hi was just curious if theres a nook app for windows mobile 7? Ive done some looking around and havent found much. Wife is crazy for nook on android and only way I can switch her over is if theres nook or something like it that can grab books from her barnes and noble account. Thanks for the info and ill keep looking around.
There isn't any Nook app yet. Rumors are Spring 2011, but they are just rumors. I've been using the Kindle app, which kinda of ticks me off, as I have lots of book that I bought from Barnes & Noble, and have a Nook Color, that I do not always carry with me.

Refurbished Nook Color $199

Looks like Overstock has some Refurbished Nook Colors for $199

use code 207397 for discount to 185.07.
free shipping and no tax in CA.
I ordered one of these yesterday...can't wait to get a NC and flash CM7 on it!
Just ordered one! Can't wait to put CM7 on it. Thanks for the discount code!
Thanks for the code. Bought a new one from B & N for my son, and had a blast putting CM7 and OC to 1325 Mhz. Very usable and fun device.... I want one for myself!
Was thinking maybe I'd wait for a cool Honeycomb tablet ... after price drops. But after looking at some reviews and PRICE$, why wait? For someone who moves around, 10" is too big.
Was kind of looking for one on craigslist or something, but this works great!
...hmmm. Slight buyer's remorse:

Nook or Tab?
Not sure if that tab requires some kind of activation or not? Read some reviews/videos lastnight comp Tab vs. Nook and the tab usually wins on most based on "out of box" exp. Don't think they had the latest tweeks on the nooks though. And most where comparing the Tab wi-fi only which is actually downgraded frim 3G one in a few ways.
Can live fine w/ GPS tether, no camera. Get by without actual buttons ok. Better dev here and build quality, and I'm getting used to the dpi and actually like it.

AT&T is selling a refurbished galaxy tab for $250, no contract. The only requirement is you have to buy a month of service, which can easily be canceled and refunded with a polite call to AT&T customer service.
My conclusion: DON'T BUY THE WIFI VERSION. Just don't. It is a scaled down version of the cellular version. So for the same price as the wifi one, why not? Also, both the nook and galaxy tab have great hacking communities so ROMs are plentiful in both cases, it just depends on whether the spec bump is worth it.

I got the nook, and so far am very happy with it. Does everything I have needed it to, with speed. Threw on the b&n hard shell case and a screen protector and it feels solid and protected now.

Thanks to the OP for this thread. I received the NC on Wednesday and had it up and running with CM7 stable the same night. I've added dozens of programs from both Android Market and Apps for Android Amazon.
I purchased many that I liked in the demo version.
Sling Mobile for Android (which allows me to watch Hulu, Netflix, Pandora and MLB on my Roku, plus everthing on Directv)
Moon+ Pro
PowerAmp
XDA
Thumb Keyboard
ezPDF
When my ATT contract comes up in August I'm giving up on my Blackberry and switching to an Android Phone.

I just took advantage of a similar deal from Buy.com
** I was going to post a direct link but it won't let me because I'm new here. **
Mine shipped direct from B&N, not sure if the Overstock deal is the same. Just got it last night, and haven't had much time to play with it yet. I plan to get CM on it ASAP.

I received mine last week and registered it at Barnes and Noble. Then I received an email saying that I could buy the extended warranty, which covers breakage.
I stopped by BN last night and was told that you have two weeks from date of purchase to pick up the two year warranty. For $55 it sounds like a good deal to me!!!
Just curious if anyone with a refurbished nook has noticed any screen defects like dust under the screen or stuck pixels. I know I went through 4 nooks with screen defects before I got one without any problems. I know others have had similar issues. Wondering if a lot of these refurbished nooks are these returned ones.

is there a huge difference in "new" and "certified preowned"? besides the obvious price tag.

Mine was like new, which is what I expect of retailed pre-owns. If I didn't mind something with a few scratches or dents, I'd buy eBay used.

where are the deals now?

Hi guys. Missed the Barnes and Nobel deal so now I am looking around for the best deals, so I thought I would stop here and ask. I need one for my daughter for Christmas. Either a color nook or nook tablet. Looking to root it as well through the sd card because I want to keep the stock B&N software for my daughter to buy and read books. Any input is welcome as to where I can get either one for a great deal and which one to get. Thanks!
I bought 2 refurbished for the kids for $119 each from here last week. It changed to $129 now. I don't know if the price fluctuates or not.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOOK-Color-...719205?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item45feb06fa5#rwid
It appears to be B&N's own ebay site.
Item location: B&N Warehouse, United States
I can't be sure what the warranty is but it should be 1 year like the one from their site.
Yes, that auction ended, then went from $129 to $149 and that ended and I cant find another auction listed under the Barnes and Nobel store anymore.......
For the price comparison between the two, I am wondering if I would be better to go with the tablet? I am sure that it will be rooted very soon! looking for input!

Locked boot loader makes it basicly SOL for custom roms.
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
B&N's own site still has the $149 refurb deal here. Not as good as $119, but at least its still available
So what would you guys get? If they get past the bootloader problem, which I am sure they will, the only other advantage to the tablet besides the speed is the built in "mic" which later on could be used to talk while using the keyboard similar to the way a cell phone works? Just trying to weigh my options!
Honestly, I would go ahead and get the nook color (not tablet). And think about putting a rom on the emmc (internal drive). That way she can read books from Barnes and Noble on the nook app, as well as books on the kindle app, Sony reader app and Google books. I also check out books from my local library.
I guess you can also do this running the rom from the SD card, but having done it both ways myself, I would go for putting the rom on the nook itself. Rom runs much better.
Apps are much cheaper from the Google market than from the B&N market.
I don't know how much function a mic will give, but I text from my nook using Google voice.
Check out Craigslist as another option. My sister just got a great deal on a nook with leather cover that was barely touched. Still had the box, etc.

It has already been rooted, just no customs ROMS unless someone gets passed the locked bootloader.....

So you are typing right? I dont suppose google voice works without a mic right????
You can use Google voice for texting over wifi. No way to make calls from the nook.

Yep, but it also says "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available" above the listing and doesn't have an option for me to buy
My bad. I'm brain farting....
screw it, I went with the tablet. Im sure it will be unlocked soon by these awesome devs on this website. The tablets processor and the mic did me in.......

$150 now
While this ain't exactly Nook Color related, if you aim for a cheap tablet and don't care about the 1024x600 Resolution the Nooks have...
Go for a Aino Novo 7, it's 100$ and overall might be the better choice for your daughter as it packs a whole bunch more than the Nook.
Its biggest downside being tough to find protective covers and the 800x480 resolution.

Nook Color now just $169 from B&N

The Verge just announced a price drop for the nook tablet $199 and consequently nook color to $169 ($135 refurbished)!
I just bought mine a couple of days ago...
I got a coupon for $50 off the Nook Color a couple of weeks ago. Looks like I may just have to jump on this.
They just came out Nook tablet 8Gb.
I'm waiting for Nook Tablet get hacked more and go for it. Right now. I'm happy with my NC.
I'm getting one after I sell my nc

Damn. Sold out. I was about to get two of them.
Free shipping too. Good find.
This isn't helping the re-sale market I keep thinking about "trading in" my NC for a new Nexus tablet.
Looks like they are available today to me.
Looks like they are sold out again.
The Nook Color is only $100 at Barnes & Noble refurbished. Comes in the box, charger, and warranty. There trying to get rid of stock, so I'd jump on it A.S.A.P. I'm getting one.
Sounds like a great Christmas gift for the kids.
