Custom Notification tones? - Captivate Themes and Apps

Just wondering if there's a way to download new notification tones or add your own for text messages, email, etc..

/system/media/audio/notifications
Or something similar.

Or in a notifications folder on the root of the sdcard.
Or, if you don't like that structure, you can always use something like Rings Extended.

If you've transferred music onto your phone and stored it on either of the SD cards, or if you have a song or sound file that you want to make into a ringtone or notification, get Ringdroid from the market. It's free and it allows you to cut sections of songs or sound files and set them as whatever you wish. When you finish cutting the sound clip, the app will ask you what you want the tone to be used for and it saves the clip in the appropriate directory. Pretty quick and painless and rather nifty.

RingoPro is my fave so far. You can set anything you want as ring tone text or notification tones. Use zedge also its free to get your tones

There's also zedge.net. They have an app in the market. It allows you to download ring tones, text notifications, and wallpapers for free.

ringtones for text messages

does anyone have any program to convert mp3s to where u can use them as text alerts. i have a wing if it matters. Thanks in advance
I have the MP3's I want to use as ringtones in the main folder of my SD card and then the Wing automatically sees it and I just add it. Stock ROM, nothing different.
ya i can use them as ring tones for calls but not as incoming text messages
I have found that you can use mp3s as Text Message alerts if they are placed in the storage card\my documents folder rather than the storage card\my documents\my ringtones folder
I still have not been able to use them as alarm sounds without putting them as wav files in the main Windows folder which I don't care to do. But for system alert sounds, this seems to work
that worked thank u very much
Dont know why but i always put the wanted track in windows. not to smart huh? thanks for the easy fix!

Sound cab, not ringtone

I have been digging around and trying to find a sound package that someone has put together but am not seeing it. Not talking about for ringtones, though some may work for that. Talking about sounds for incoming text, incoming email, alarm, slide and other such things
the Alarm sounds on my Tilt suck. I use it every day but the friggin noise that comes out of it curls my toes. The sounds for incoming text and/or email, or voicemail notification, suck too.
Sonar beeps, crystal taps, lighting of a match, I have no idea what else but I was hoping someone else did or does.
any wav file you copy to where the others are located can be picked in sounds and notifications so you can make one youself
pick some sounds you like and make a cab which copy them to the dir

FWIW, grabbed a bunch of wav files for sounds off this site and copied them to the Windows root directory.

This site is just sounds, not songs

[Q] custom ring tones

So how do I set up custom ring tones on this phone? I see where I can pick the ring tone, but is it possible to have one of my own songs/sound clips, a ring tone?
For default ringtone:
On the home screen press menu>settings>sounds & display> voice call ringtone then pick your tone
For Option 1 for individual ringtones ( only works with contacts saved to phone i think)
go to contacts> pick your contact you want to change> long press until you get a menu> click edit and scroll until you see the ringtone setting
Option 2 (this is what i use because i use google and facebook contacts so i do not get a ringtone option under the edit menu for contacts)
Download ringdroid from the market (it's free). This will let you make custom ringtones from the music you saved on your phone. The music has to be under a certain file size but just play around with it (i use about 15 to 20 sec for a ringtone) Once you save the part of the song you want to play as a ringtone it will ask if you want to assign to a contact and go from there. Once you start making the ringtone i noticed they started showing up under the menu where the default ringtones are. (i'm assuming cause of the file sizes).
For txt message ringtone
click messaging>menu button>settings> and at the bottom of the menu you can pick a default message tone
For notifaction like email or other stuff
from the home screen click menu> settings>sounds and display> and notification ringtone.
hope this helps. i'm new to but i'm pretty sure i got everything right
Ringdroid is the best option. It lists all available music on your device and then you can select one to create a custom ringtone.

Stock ringtones are stored in /system/media/audio/ringtones/
User created ones are stored in /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones/
you can place your own .mp3's in the latter and when selected, the first 30seconds of the .mp3 will play for your ringtone.
other apps
you can also you zedge from the market, you can download ring tones and wallpapers... i use it some and it seems alright and "mp3 music download" you can use to search for music, seems illegal but i guess they haven't taking it down yet..and mabilo seems good to ...hopefully these are legit since i was using them some lol

SMS tone is set within the messaging app itself.
Open messages, select settings>notifications where you can set what you like.

If your phone is rooted copy the custom tone to the System/Media/Audio/Notifications folder.
If not rooted see if you have a Ringtones folder on your sdcard and if so copy the tone there and see if it then appears in the notifications list.
Either way may require a reboot before it appears.

If it's a song, can you do it from the Music player by selecting Set as ringtone in settings?
Go to the song you like in music player and press settings and "set as ringtone"

Create a folder called "Notifications" in the same place your Ringtones folder is on your internal SD card. That should take care of it.

This sent me round in circles for a while but there's a really simple solution.
Creating an appropriate Notifications folder as suggested elsewhere is a good idea, then find the mp3 (for example if you've added it to the phone) in ES File Explorer, open the file you'd like (with the ES audio player), then tap the options button (3 dots along the title bar), and from there you can "Set ringtone" - you can choose to set it as ringtone (calls), notification (messages) or alarm.

THANK YOU! http://forum.xda-developers.com/ima...um.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/good.gif
You could go to play store and download Ringo or Ringo pro.
You can customise a ring tone and a notification tone for every person in your phone book.

Constantly ring and vibrate your phone when SMS is received
The walk-around is to make the phone constantly ring and vibrate when an important message is received. I developed an app
that can ring the phone, like a normal phone call, when an important contact messages you.
Try it out to see if it works for you: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.textcall.app
Hey, my phone wasn't able to that as well but since I have a rooted phone, I can do pretty much everything that my phone doesn't handle and if you have a rooted phone you will be able to do this. Just install Root Explorer (if you don't find it in the play store just search on Google: Root Explorer apk) and download it. Now go to right section that says Storage and go to the directory where your mp3 ringtone file is. Copy or cut it and now go to System/media/audio/notifications and just paste it there! With the normal File Manager that it's in your phone won't work, so rooted phones really help!

Can't add notification tones to notification list

I'm trying to load bespoke notification tones to some of my apps. Most are working, but I can't add a sent mail tone to Outlook or some of my SMS apps. The only option I get when trying to do this is the stock notification tone list, but I can't find a way to add bespoke tones to this list.
Any solutions out there?

If you use an sd card, you can create folders named "Notifications" and "Ringtones" on sd card and put the ringtone/notification files you want to add in them. The phone will find these folders and files will show in lists of choices along with preinstalled options.
(Works on s7 anyway.)
Android can be a fickle beast sometimes, make sure you have the correct format saved in the correct folder. I usually use .ogg saved in notifications for general purpose. To test place them in in notifications/ringtones.
