Wired headset buttons not working on most builds - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

Maybe this is just me but most builds I install don't have a working wired headset. I have tried searching for a fix, but the only thing I have found is that it could be a kernel problem that has not been fixed due numerous kernel updates. Does anybody know of a fix that can take care of this problem, or know of a NAND or Clockwork build (preferably desire HD) where the wired headset works.

Yes, i have this problem with the wired headset.
Now with my Bluetooth Headset (Calypso BT) buttons are working perfectly
My conclusion is that the problem is.. the sound card driver =)
Correct me if i'm wrong, i'd be honored to see someone correcting me

when i use Gauner1986 ROM with ROM's kernel or MDJ kernel 9.2, 9.3, my Wired headset buttons are working fine, but when i upgarde to 10.3 oc MDJ kernel, it does not work anymore

I just tried the new CoreDroid rom (Jan 24) and it doesn't work. I also tried the revolution 2.3 rom and no luck.

+1 for this problems... Only Gauner1986 HD 0.3 is Work... Others HD or Z Build... does not working at all... so, i can't anwser my phone calls when i driving my motorbike... and control music player :-<

Gauner's kernel supports this function. MDJ's does not. It is that simple.
If you want your buttons to work, use Gauner's kernel.

The core Droid roms work great with wired headphones I'm using the supersonic with no problems

CoreDroid - the wired headset doesn't work.

So the question is what is included in gauner1986's or older kernels that is missing or modified in other kernels (like MDJ's 10.4OC)?

I think you're right. If you stick with a Cyanogen 6.1 Froyo build it should work. I am running NexusHD2-Froyo v1.9G NAND by tytung and it works fine with PowerAmp in case that helps.
CMYLXGO's BlueTopia v1.0.6n and the rest of his should work if you are looking for a Desire HD base.

PRJ kernel should work too...

[Q] Anyone try JM7 (i9000 eclair) yet?

JM7 is the latest Eclair build for the Galaxy S (not the captivate)
Wondering if BT works and if Sync Schedule for Exchange is there - the biggest things wrong with previous i9000 builds.
Thanks for any info.

bluetooth will most likely not be functional with a captivate kernel since it's the kernel that controls that, the ROM just chooses how to interface with it. since they weren't designed to be used together, they probably won't "just work" together without heavy kernel modifications.
as for exchange, couldn't tell you (don't have any exchange accounts)

The Froyo build is working with BT. And the BT chip should be the same between devices, so I am not convinced BT won't work.

They also use the same wireless radios yet the fmradio app doesn't work even with the i9000 kernel. We also have the same gravity sensor/accelerometer, yet that doesn't work properly either. It's more than just kernel. It's a combination of the rom, the kernel, and hardware access. Considering these are issues specific to running software not designed to work with the captivate, they will likely never be fixed by samsung so a new rom won't make them magically work.
As for bluetooth working on froyo, it works in eclair too for pairing, just isn't fully functional with audio

OK, let me clarify as i am hoping for experiences not speculation -
BT audio for phone calls works fine in Froyo with a captivate kernel according to reports but not in previous Eclair builds - has anyone tried BT audio in JM7?

I would love to know where you say someone said "BT audio works fine in froyo with a captivate kernel."
we have no captivate kernel compatible with froyo. when you flash a froyo build, you're using the i9000 kernel because there are no captivate ROMs available yet. if you try using the eclair captivate kernel in the froyo i9000 ROM, your phone will not even boot (have to fix through download mode)

My typo -I know the kernel is specific to the version. - i have not tried a Froyo build yet - but the fact is Froyo BT works for audio as reported in other threads. So it is not unthinkable that Jm7 could have working BT Audio on our Captivate.
Again, all i am asking for is if someone has any first hand knowledge, not speculation. I know what the older versions have as I have tried those - just tired of flashing ROMs for now.

[Q] Rom w/ Nexus S Bluetooth Driver

If you tried out the Nexus S rom ported to the galaxy S, you probably know that the bluetooth drivers are capable of pairing with a wiimote unlike the stock bluetooth driver. Does anyone know of any rom with the Nexus S bluetooth stack on it? or does anyone know how i could possible put it in my current rom i'm using (cognition 2.3b8).
Also, could anyone make an odin version of cognition 2.3b8 please? flashing to stock every time i screw it up is annoying. If you can't, that's fine.

Would want this as well!
I'd love this too.

Wiui (/miui) & fm radio

Hello everybody,
this beautiful roms doesn't support good old fm radio for some reason, is it possible to make it happen and how?
I'll try to load a titanium backup of the radio app from cm7.2 but doubt this will work.
I am sure many other folks want this so any ideas-help is much appreciated.
I already tried with the spirit app but I have no sound coming out (tuning & rds are working thought).
Same here...

Its a pity..these roms are great, but lacking fm radio is a big drawback at least for me.
We could find a way thought...
Have you tried loading a ti backup of the radio app from another ROM? This is not enough I think but its worth trying...I will as soon as I meet my brother(we have the same phone, different ROM)
It won't work I suppose.

These ROMs are based on ICS. Even on CM7, the app enables bluetooth (BT and FM are on the same chip) as we don't have the code related to the radio.
So for the moment there's no FM on ICS because ICS is too different from GB

Wiui 2.5.25 (which I am currently using) is based on cm7 which is based in GB, besides that and as you said already radio & Bluetooth are on the same ic so when you are using the fm receiver Bluetooth is enabled even on the stock rom.
This issue is not ics related.

If it was the lack of just the radio app I think installing an app like spirit should got the job done, anyway finding a solution is all I care about (not the reason they didn't implement it).
If someone actually knows what files are missing...it would be great to share some knowledge.
As I said before I'll try with a ti backup and let you know but something tells me there's more to it...

how to go back to 2.2 from 4.0.4

I am using offiicial 4.0.4 ICS with patched bootloader and rooted .I have used it for a long time and its slow .I want to go back to 2.2...I have old nandroid backups of 2.2 done with cwm 5.8.1.3 ......now ICS has version 6.0.1.4 ....so can i restore my old backup from this version....and I think I also have to put old bootloader....does anyone have old bootloader flashable from cwm .....or SFT is the only way
You can use other ROMs..like IZS, this also is on android 4..but it's very stable and fast, give it a try ... hmm and about 2.2, many apps don't support android 2.2, just 2.3 or up

Yes I downgraded with SFT and can't download subway surfer etc and even smart launcher gives problem when i change themes ,,,I am loosing a couple of things ...But my phone works good now. 2.3 has it's own issues...IZS is ICS(after a long term use it gets slow) I haven't tried IZS though....I think the OS that comes with the phone is always stable and best...rest all big upgrades are just for name sake. 2.2 is what the phone was launched with and its the most stable working OS till date for p970
I just have to make a choice now between stability and support.

Not exactly true.. most modifications to stock ROMs are greater..because are based on the stock ROM, and brings modifications to make the ROM more powerful than stock version
Try Zeus if you like 2.3..it is based on stock 2.3 but it is a lot faster,stable than stock ROM.. just 1 thing i don't like to Zeus, the keyboard..but you can flash another one(I like the gingerbread stock)

Heux ROMS are derived from stock ROMS and tweaked for performance...so they also the same bugs that stock have.I have already tried zeus rom long time back...in hope that it will solve the bug of stock 2.3..but it was the same
following are 2 major issues of 2.3
1)using handsfree when you try to switch songs it does not work and most of the times it wakes the phone...you can see the screen lit up even if you have locked the phone.
2)DLNA is broken ....some of the stereo music file just keeps buffering and hangs the phone.....
LG broke this very badly and did not fix in 2.3 even when i reported it in service station.....
issue #1 is there in ICS also ...and #2 is fixed in ICS
#2 is just a fancy feature for me as I don't use it and can live with it.
#1 is bad can't live with it......but from ICS I have learnt how to compile kernels just to fix this issue and know how to fix this handsfree issue.....I am planning to build 2.3 kernel with the fix ....but i don't know it will fix the screen wake up issue or not.....I just have to try it.
Now I have flashed stock 2.3 and subway surfer can be downloaded and works better than ICS ...lags only once in starting and then smooth.and smart launcher has no issues.....2.3 is actually smoother than 2.2

android version 2.2 has handsfree working perfectly .....
Lg broke in starting 2.3 and above...
I have fixed it in 4.0.4 by fixing the headset driver taking reference from 2.2 source code....
See my thread below...This patch also has headset driver fix...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184519
I am going to take 2.2 driver and put it in 2.3 and compile it to fix it.....
But i want arm-eabi-4.4.3 toolchain to compile it...and could not find it ...
There are some links which give this but as a combination with other toolchains ...but i have low bandwidth.
so can anyone provide me link to only arm-eabi-4.4.3 alone...
there's also 4.4.0 mentioned in readme ...so its really confusing ....but can try both....
link for 4.4.0 and 4.4.3 if some has ...I will try searching again on google..
I want to fix it at kernel level hence not interested in the apps...as this is supposed to be default feature of OS...which Lg broke....
=====from readme of kernel
2. Kernel Build
(1) Untar using following command at the android folder (./android/kernel)
$ tar xvfz P970_BDop_GingerBread_v20o_KERNEL.tar.gz
(2) Set the compile environment
- gcc 4.4.3
- Ubuntu 10.04.1
- export PATH=$PATH:/android_path/prebuilt/linux-x86/toolchain/arm-eabi-4.4.3/bin/
("android_path" should be android path name in your system.)
(3) Run the script, "envsetup.sh" in the android folder.
$ cd android
$ ./build/envsetup.sh
(4) Execute make
- move to the kernel folder and execute make
$ cd kernel
$ make sniper_rev_a_emmc_defconfig ARCH=arm
$ make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=<android_path>/prebuilt/linux-x86/toolchain/arm-eabi-4.4.0/bin/arm-eabi- zImage

Nokia BH-503 is Bluetooth....I am using wired hands-free that's comes with the phone...so it must be working for you......
Bluetooth and headset drivers are different....
finally got the kernel booting and also fixed the headset issue..by taking heaset driver from 2.2 ...
But now it wakes phone whenever song is changed by headset.the bug is lg's mp3 player .
If you use a different mp3 player then the phone will not wakeup.....
I tried to change mp3 player with the old one from 2.2 android.....but it does not work.Don't know why lg did this.....
but i am using it for my own benefit because my power button does not work most of the time....
if anyone wants to try i have attatched the kernel....it's not fancy just headset fix....

Not an uncommon issue for CM on non officially supported devices as it's one of the harder things to get working. I looked through some of the threads about the rom and didn't see anyone mention it, though there were not many posts, so that's not necessarily indicative of anything. So it does pair fine, just no sounds? And it was working before or on another device so we can rule out issues with the BT device itself?

Pairs and connects but no sounds. yeah!
i asked akbh bout this problem and said that to be able to fix it, need to compile from source again.. thanks though
Ah ok, cool. If it works for other CM roms, then most likely the dev will be able to sort it out shortly.
