GIT REPO: https://github.com/rothnic/android_device_adam/tree/gingerbread

Excellent job!

Excellent, all seems good and ready to go even before I get my device this week. Now we need someone to port CyanogenMod

Effin awesome! Device shipped out today, I can't wait to start modding!

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!

Tested on my adam with pixel qi and wifi. It appears to work great! Although, the up and down is reversed. One more thing, you should port over the touchscreen calibration option from the stock recovery to cwm, then it will be complete.
Great work!

cant wait to test this out, anything in particular that needs testing?

I guess any of the features in clockworkmod that are not mentioned as tested in the OP. I'm going to hopefully work on it some more when I get back from my work trip at the end of this week.

ok, Thus far I have noticed adb reboot recovery now works from command prompt on windows 64bit, it didnt work with 3e. I will do a few other tests later.

Latest update on 02/06/11 fixes the backwards button issue.

Excellent work. This is quite essential for any further developments.

Personally I dont like being redirected to a site with the EXACT SAME POST. Put the link here...

I redirect to that so I don't HAVE to update multiple sites. I can update one link and be done with it. By your standards, there is a lot of spam on XDA.

Do you not update these lines anyway:
Run the update.zip(named cwmod3005_020611.zip)
Clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 for Notion Ink Adam - 020611
Its still spam.

I did this time, but as time commitments changed I'm not guaranteed to. Just like when people cross post anything I maintain on XDA to another forum. I ask them just to copy over anything they want except for the download link. Therefor, I don't have to go rounding up posts to make sure they are all up to date. They follow back to the one key place I'm maintaining them, which for the adam is notioninkhacks. The reason being the focused device forums give much more separate forum options, like bug tracking we are starting there. The reason I'm a mod is so I can test and move bug tracking items to forums.
Man, ungrateful, entitled, neurotic pricks like yourself make this hobby a lot less enjoyable.

Rothnic - please ignore daml. I don't understand why he's being so ungrateful. You're spending your personal time to release something that benefits the whole community. The rest of us appreciate the effort that you are spending putting together ROMS like this!
Keep up the great work and don't let the haters get to you!

Keep up the good work!!
Cant wait till my adam comes this week hopefully.. I will test and report anything out of the ordinary. Much love!!

Looking good - my Adam is currently 'shipping in progress' but when I get it this is one of the first things I'll be loading on there - great work!

Works great, thanks for this.

thank you.. works great for me. love the security of having my rom all backed up

Don't sell yourself short, I see it as a pretty big deal that you got this working. Mostly because a handful of people actually *have* tried to get it working. I put a great deal of effort into it myself last spring, trying to get it working in Android on the Vogue. In fact, I'm pretty sure the only reason I didn't get it working on that device is that it doesn't have a SIM card. That was before there was any official CDMA support in Android, so the Vogue community (dzo, vilord, and others I'm sure I'm leaving out) hacked the RIL (radio interface library) to make Android *think* it was running on a GSM network. There was a slight bug in their hacked RIL that fed a malformed phone number to the IM.apk. It would run until you tried to sign into MSN, then claim it couldn't find your phone number on the SIM. I'm not enough of a hacker to modify low-level interface binaries, so I left it alone.
Anyhoo, congratulations is what I'm getting at.
Since people want answers, I will share that the problem seems to be this:
Code:
E/AndroidRuntime( 807): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{com.android.providers.im/com.android.providers.im.LandingPage}: android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: String resource ID #0x7f050005
I'm about to take a peak at the source again for the first time in like 7 months. This is a different problem than the Vogue had. I will try and figure out what that missing string resource is and correct it.
I know, I know, you've already solved the problem. But nobody has any idea how, and I won't be sleepy for a few hours. I'll share my results along the way.
Thanks to all Devs!!!
Once this is working, will it be running off Data or SMS?
It'll be SMS unless inkredi did a SH*T load of work on it.
Side note, I'm having some serious issues with this for some reason. When I was working on it last spring, I had no problem editing the source. Now I have to deal with binary XML files. I didn't have this problem before, and I have to figure out why. With any luck inkredi won't hold onto his work for too long (hint hint... share the wealth!)
EDIT: Oh right, it's because I was building the IM app from the Android source. At 2 in the morning, I'm not particularly keen to download the entire android source. Maybe inkredi will share his ideas tomorrow :/

Unrevoked team: Root And Recovery reflash tool (updated 7/14/10)

Recovery Reflash Tool
Available for linux, mac, and windows all at once. Also should support Evo, Incredible, and Aria, Eris, and Desire.
First steps:
1. You will need to make sure in windows at least that you have the proper driver for hboot:
http://www.unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php?id=public:windows_hboot_driver_install
2. HTC Sync is BAD news... If you have it, please uninstall if you have issues, or just for spite. It interferes with us communicating to the device randomly, also pdanet, doubletwist etc could cause issues. If it uses USB and you have problems, try disabling/uninstalling until after the reflash is complete.
3. When asked ALWAYS CHOOSE CHARGE ONLY, perhaps you should check remember this...
THE LINK: http://unrevoked.com/recovery/
FAQ: http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/unrevoked2
Help I'm stuck at waiting for system to settle
check these common issues:
- You switched your driver to the one from this post? It's NOT identical to the SDK one.
- You don't have any usb applications that might be taking focus while we are working with the phone right?
- Is the SD card present in the device?
- You did give su permenent access when you allowed it in superuser right?

If you want to donate, we prefer donations get made to the EFF. They protect our rights to do what we enjoy, reversing code in devices we own and making them do things we want them to do. Our team donation link is: http://action.eff.org/goto/unrevoked

I can't frickin wait. I'm not one to check forums every 5 minutes, but I have been since root was achieved and recovery was announced. I did the same thing with the whole Jake Day fiasco. Needless to say I was very disappointed and angry afterwards. Unrevoked totally rules.
Re: Unrevoked team (coming soon): Recovery reflash tool

It's coming soon, we are about to test on some users devices. No need to volunteer, we will choose folks out of the incredibleroot irc channel as needed.
Will be available for linux, mac, and windows all at once. Also should support Evo, Incredible, and Desire if we ever get someone with one to help test and set a few things. To clarify it will require that you have root already. If you don't, please proceed with the other method for now to get it until we have a better option (which still is in the works).
This will be the release thread. Subscribe if you like.

Thank you all and keep up the good work we are all very thankful for your time and effort~!
Still new to android world. What will this tool actually do ?
Well it's primarily going to allow users with root to get around the nand lock and flash a custom recovery that will allow custom roms easily. As well as modifying system at will by rebooting to recovery with adb enabled inside it.

Will /system be rw while booted in android?
not until our next project completes, a special hboot to enable full nand write. For now we are just enabling it to flash recovery as the next step gets very dangerous.

So we will still have to jump through the same hoops to get into recovery mode? I did it once but can't seem to do it again so i have root access but haven't been able to remove all these crappy sys apps.
no, this will flash a custom recovery that ENABLES adb.... so you get it every time.

It sounds like the incredible team knew what they were doing and took there time with the programing.
Just another example why this phone isn't half ass done...
Can't wait for nand accesses and custom roms. Wish I knew more about programing and could help out...
I really just want to get root on this phone one time before I die... I have staired at loop.bat so much I'm dreaming in DOS...
Really I had a dream that I got root and passed the shell... I woke up and my wife asked me what was going on I told her I got root she laughed at me and told me I was dreaming. She now makes fun of me calling me a Nerd... She says most guys dream about women and I dream about rooting my Dinc.
I didn't mention to her it was two naked cheerleaders that helped me get root.
Great work guys!
What's this?

[PROGRAM] AIO Vibrant Toolbox 2.5 *Beginners Start Here* Also for advanced users

Bay_wolf's AIO Vibrant Toolbox 2.5
If this program has helped you, please consider donating.
There is a new download link as the Multiupload one was broken so everyone should be able to download the file now.
Description: To help automate flashing custom ROMs onto the Samsung Vibrant.
MODS: Please do not move this to another section as this is for Android development and is installed on the users computer not the phone. Thanks!
Disclaimer: I'm distributing this program as-is and no guarantee that it will not hurt your phone. So, use at your own risk and don't blame me for bricking your phone. I am to not be held liable for any outcome of the use of this program.

Things to do/know before using this program:
When you select the PIT and PDA files, it should default to the installed location and if not then browse to where you installed AIO Vibrant Toolbox as the files are in there.
Have .net4 installed. Download Here.
Enable USB debugging mode- Go to settings> Applications> Development> And then check the box next to USB debugging.
Have the ROM of your desire downloaded to your hard drive (In the program, Select ROM means the custom ROM you downloaded.).
Know a little bit about flashing and ROMs.
And that's about it. Most of the instructions are given to you by the program and are not needed to be written out here. If you find any part confusing, please comment in this thread and I'll try to implement it in the next release and I'll tell you what it means as a temporary solution.
If you ever accidentally press the download mode button when you didn't mean to, just unplug your device and do a battery pull.
To perform a master clear using ODIN, after flashing the stock firmware back onto the device, leave the phone plugged into the computer and keep ODIN open. Just click Master Clear in ODIN. !This will wipe everything off of the built-in storage (besides the stock ROM and stock apps)!
Download
If there are any bugs PM me and I'll try to get them fixed.
Just in case anyone wanted them. Here are the drivers in a smaller and automated installer that I created. It's the same that's used in my program so if you have my program installed you don't need to worry about these. -32 bit -64bit
Donations are appreciated if you found this program helpful:

Thank you! I've tried to make it as beginner friendly as possible as I remember trying to flash my first custom ROM on my captivate and had to read for like 3 days straight to finally figure out an easy method to do so and figured I'd write a program to help others out.
Very nice bro. Keep up the good work!!
Initial release 2.5? no 1.0?
thanks for the program!!! i'm just messing with you.
can't wait to try it out.
looks like a fantastic app... I do have one question. Does the app take into account lag-fixes, particularly voodoo? From what I could see it does not and a new guy could easily rely on the app for protection in these regards. If not an in app disclaimer might be a worthy addition.
Great app and it will come in very to a lot of people.

Can confirm that WiFi Hotspot app works like a charm, as well as countless other things. No issues yet (other than the obvious wifi lol)
This may not be the correct place for this, but is there a way to change what settings are actually in the quick-settings pull down? I love having access to brightness, among other things. I notice that every ROM has a different set. Ace Revolution had everything I liked in that pull down but some others are lacking.
Just wondering, thanks!

Beware (again), it's untested! Don't flash if you don't know what you're doing!
very cool.. thanks!
Where did you get the prop. binaries for the Nexus S?
Otherwise this won't really work well.
Hell yeah. Subscribed.
Very nice. Can't wait to see what you have done with it!
Hi
I find this a little bit....humm... risky
You share a work, so there is no critics to do on this, but you have made it for a device you doesnt own.
In a normal case, each user take the risk on his own awareness, but here you have not tested at all what you are sharing.
I would recommend to wait..

Well, normally I would agree with you. In fact, I hoped to find someone who could test it on purpose, at least until I could buy a Nexus S for me and test it on my own.
Consider this thread as a development diary until I say it could be tried without risks.
I have tested on my i9020T and it does not boot. Just sits on the Google loading screen. I also tested it with the boot.img from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350829
Drew Garen will be releasing a "Stable" version of ICS later today. Koush has yet to announce anything about his build. I'm waiting to see what people say about this one.
