resetting your zio - Kyocera Zio M6000

Apparently there are a few different methods:
If you can get into the phone:
Dial: ##4357*
Select view
Scroll down to select reset.
6 digit code: 000000
Click Ok
Should reboot.
Dial *228
Click to collapse
Which is somehow different that simply selecting 'factory reset'.
If you can't get in:
Hard Reset.
Power down the phone
Hold down the volume up, end key, trackball and send key simultaneously.
Phone boots. After it vibrates you let go.
Phone is completely reset as if it came out of the box. You'll need to *228 and reload ALL of your data.

The REALLY CRAZY method:

Remove battery for 15 seconds & replace battery.

Power off the phone.
Press and hold red END key for 2 seconds >> Phone Options >> select Power Off >> Phone will shut down >> Ok
Press and continue to hold the Volume Up button using your left thumb.
While still holding the Volume Up key, use your right hand to depress the green Send key, the white Track ball and the red End key (sequential order).
Continue to hold all 4 until keys completely down until the handset vibrates twice then let go of the keys & track ball.
Formatting Data and Cache appears
If you do not see the above (Formatting Data and Cache) redo steps 1 through 7.
If you get a Fast Boot, Self Test or Blue screen redo steps 1 through 7.
Allow the phone to completely reboot. This may take a few moments.
The phone has now been re-set to factory default settings. Please proceed through standard set up and activation procedures.
NOTE: If you receive a self-test screen or blue screen, the hard reset was done incorrectly. Please try again, from step 1.

alternately, u can hold volume down, talk, trackball, and end and boot to fastboot. then connect to pc, open command prompt, change directory to where u have your sdk and fastboot, and type these:
fastboot devices (to ensure ur computer sees the device. should see "? fastboot")
fastboot -w (should tell you "erasing userdata....")
afterward, pull battery and reboot

You could do...
"fastboot erase system"
"fastboot reboot"
Then put your phone into Modem Download Mode and run the updater to 2.2
Sent from my from my rooted 2.2 no bloat Zio using XDA App

Doesn't matter what you did. If you can still get into bootloader then you can flash from there. Either flash a stock ROM or use mtty to flash another ROM.

Then you can see what processes are running and what is using up ram.
Then use an app like CleanRam or MemMaid to stop/close processes and reclaim/free up used ram.

[Q] [AT&T][UCKB2]Heimdall One-Click -Total Stock- **now with or without root

So, I would have posted my question in another thread, but it wont let me and tells me to post it here.
I was having problems with Serendipity 7 (freezing up/slow/bad gps), so I decided to try Fasty II and tried the "[AT&T][UCKB2]Heimdall One-Click -Total Stock- **now with or without root" program to get back to a Stock Rooted Froyo build. That worked fine, but now no matter what I try I can't get my phone into download mode.
Is there a different way than the button methods that I've tried and used many times successfully before? I've never tried the ada or whatever. But, I can't seem to connect my phone to my pc anymore.
I have SuperUser, TiBu and Clockwork Mod Recovery on there (although it doesn't seem to work right), so I'm pretty sure it is the rooted version.
Any ideas appreciated, otherwise I guess I'll just use my 2.2, not as bad as I thought it would be.
Only way for me to get on Download Mode is to get it through ADB. That or a Jig
Try downloading the correct drivers and find SDK tools for Android.
If you were on Serendipity 7, your download button combo would be either V+/V- and insert USB for the i897 GB bootloaders, and hold Vol- and Power for the i9000 bootloaders.
As a couple of notes, I generally have better luck getting to download mode from a full power-off state. Also, the Heimdall one-click puts the 3e recovery back in place, so you'll probably need to ODIN/Heimdall a kernel with CWM in order to get around that.
1: from battery charging with cable inserted: press and hold vol+ and vol-, press power
2. from recovery, position the cursor on restart device, plug in usb, press and hold vol-, then hold vol+, then press power
3. remove battery press and hold vol+ and vol-, insert cable, insert battery
4. remove battery, press and hold vol+ and vol-, insert battery, insert cable
5. put phone into usb debugging mode, on the computer type "adb reboot download"
6. use clockwork mod recovery to reboot download mode
7. use custom ROM power option "download mode"
8. use a 301Kohm jig between USB pins 4-5
9. Apply UnBrickable mod to your device, then remove the battery, insert the batteyr, and click the "Download Mode" button on the computer
10. Use UART (619Kohm resistor between USB pins 4-5, D+=RX, D-=TX, 192500bps 8n1 comms), press and hold ENTER while booting, then type USB
11. Use UART, during battery charging, type "reboot download"

[Q] [XT1068] [STOCK] Bootloop; no USB Debugging. How to recover media BEFORE reset?

I have a XT1068 / Moto G (2014) with Dual SIM and an external SD card. The phone is not locked to any specific network.
The phone froze when I was taking photos a couple of days ago and is now stuck on a restart loop. It loads so far as asking me to enter the password to decrypt the phone. After accepting the password, it restarts a split second after the Android logo is displayed. I only had the phone for a week, I have the stock firmware installed and haven't performed any fancy mods / didn't root the phone. I honestly have no idea why this happened in the first place
I know that a factory reset will fix the problem, but it will also wipe out the data/media on the internal storage. I desperately need to try to access that media before I perform the factory reset.
Some useful info...
Phone is using the encryption feature
Media is all stored on internal storage, but I have an external SD card if that helps the recovery process (provided that I don't lose the media on the internal storage!!)
USB Debugging was not activated before the bootloop started occurring, and I have no way of accessing the UI to activate it now.
[UPDATE #1]:
Using the phone's bootloader screen, I am accessing Recovery > Load from ADB
When I connect the phone to my laptop via USB and run adb devices, the phone is being detected and listed correctly.
The device has a status of sideload. Any attempts to run other commands like shell or pull give me an "error: closed" in the terminal window.
I need to get unfettered access to run ADB in full (not just the sideload command) while in recovery mode but without wiping out the internal storage.
Any ideas on what to do next?
Anyone?
Hi!
So I am having the EXACT same problem,
I managed to fix it by making sure the phone is off,
Then, press the power button and the down volume key
After about 3 seconds let go of both keys and some texts saying recovery, factory.. should come out
using the volume down button, navigate to the recovery and to select, press the up volume key
Wait for a little while and a dead android lying on it's back should come out saying 'no command'
Press the power button and the volume up button and then, only let go of the volume up button
You can lift the power button now..
Then, unlike the first menu , we navigate using both up and down volume keys and to select, just hold the power key for 1 second
using to down volume button, go to factory reset (yes you are going to factory reset)
then press the power button..
Then wait for about 5 mins to wait for it to reset..
If that method doesn't work, then Idk how else to help..
I hope it works!!:good:

100% Stock, yes! 1 week old.
Yes i have set up ADB
I have followed the instruction until this part (i cannot post any link sorry, not authorized by xda)
The following ADB commands are for Windows machines. If you’re using a Mac, just add “./” before each command, for example: “./adb reboot bootloader”.
Assuming you device is already connected to your computer via USB and USB Debugging is enabled, you need to re-start it in fastboot mode. Follow one of the two methods below. Option A may be preferable because it’s another confirmation that your computer recognizes your Nexus device.
A) Type “adb reboot bootloader”
B) Turn your device off, then turn it back on while holding down the relevant key combinations for your device. For many devices it’s Volume Up + Volume Down + Power. You can see what your device’s key combinations are here.
The fastboot menu will appear and you should see Start in the top right. Press Volume Up till it changes to Recovery. Press the Power button to select it.
You will see an Android with a red exclamation point icon, press and hold the Power key, then press the Volume up key to show the Recovery Menu.
You will get a new menu. Navigate to apply update from adb and select it by pressing the Power button.
In the command window — make sure you are in the directory where ADB and Fastboot reside — type: “adb sideload [the full name of the file].zip” without the brackets around the file name.
The update will install and reach 100 percent.
Reboot and enjoy the latest version of Android Marshmallow.

There are lots of additional steps in that guide and not always the simplest way of doing it.
First thing to do is boot into recovery.
- Turn off the phone.
- Hold volume down + power
- At the bootloader screen, use volume keys to navigate to recovery and press power to select#
- At the Red warning triangle, hold power then press volume up.
At this stage, type "adb devices" in your command prompt and see if it returns your serial number or not. If it does, you can follow the steps to use adb to flash the update.
Please note, the guide talks about USB debugging. This only works in android. Nothing you need to do needs to be done via android so this is nonsense. Also the MTP option only works in android, so setting this in settings as a fix is also nonsense.

Could be a driver issue. You'll need to check device manager. Perhaps uninstall the existing drivers and let it auto detect.
Failing that, install the Naked driver from my adb and fastboot thread (Nexus 6 general > Sticky roll-up thread > Adb and fastboot. What is it?)
I had the same issue with you until i did the following: I used wugfresh's nexus utility. Then I downloaded the respective file from XDA and saved it in the same folder as the Wugfresh's tool. Restarted in Recovery mode and chose 'update from adb'. Connected the phone with the usb having USB debugging on from before going to recovery. Started the CMD window from Wugfresh's tool (Advanced Utilities -> Launch) and check that the phone is connected (I think "adb devices") . Then "adb sideload xxxx.zip" and waited for the process to finish.
Instruction here: androidpolice 2012/11/13/android-4-2-build-jop40c-rolling-out-to-the-nexus-7-now-manual-download-link-available/
You do not have to install the full Android utility. Just use wugfresh;s cmd screen. Good luck!
