but share your experience after 2 weeks or so. becouse when you get something new, its always cool ... after a while you will see that maybe its not so useful you thought.

Think it would be more useful if it wasn't for the capacitive-style buttons. With proper clickables, it could serve well as a pocketed remote control for music. As it is now, you have to pull "something" out of your pocket to swap tracks... and that "something" might just as well be your phone.
Been thinking about getting one myself, but for the purpose of swapping tracks, cyanogenmod does the trick by fiddling with volume/camera buttons.

are you realy listening musik from your phone! because i need to charge it daily and i even dont whatch movies or like that. i think this phone is just good be stylish and maybe to spend time with playing some games! ;(

This thing is very useful. I use it to check text messages when I'm in school And my phone seems to last longer cuz the screen isn't on as much

Sold my mp4 because of that phone. I don't like to carry so many devices as my friend (Milestone 2 + iPhone + iPod Touch + another mp4 player), one phone is great for me and I really listen to the music all day rly!
And I'm interested in buying LV because of the power of that small device. Music control, wristwatch, facebook, notes, reading messages...

its upto the person as to how useful you would find the item to be fair, I'm quite happy just taking my phone out of my pocket and using it that way... lol but its each to their own preference. Sony released a watch based phone product before i think, and that never really "took off"

Agree. Not to mention, had my daughter spill a whole cupfull of water on mine, while it was playing a movie. Unplugged it, dryed it, and it still works like it's brand new! Unlike the 360, all u have to do is look at it wrong and your sending it off to get serviced. Microsoft piece of crap!

Can't lie, XBL is badass, I love the features but what is it now, $60 a year?
Not much really but still a pain to have to pay for something like that on top of paying $60+ for games.
But for some people who don't have a computer or sick phone, my gf's friend only has a ps3 and a wii, no computer and a jinky old phone and she uses her ps3 to watch youtube vids and uses it to search the web.
Hell I use my ps3 almost all day on my days off, between streaming music, watching netflix and playing black ops, it never gets a break and never once has it over heated or givin me any errors, my dad's 360 always has disc read errors even after getting the lense cleaned.

Why isnt Playstation Vita a phone?

i am so freaking mad that the ps vita isnt a phone . Why not? i just dont understand. It would save me carrying two devices.

Vita is a full fledged gaming and media device... Phones are phones... You can't mix the two and have a great product ..... One its too much tech to be in a smaller frame... And the battery life would suck donkey toes, and it would cost bout a good 800

I don't really think it matters much. If you give it about another year or two smartphones will be as powerful if not more powerful than handheld gaming devices. I can really see the handheld gaming market getting phased out. Its already in the process

I don't see that happening for a while yet, at least a decade.
Folk wisdom in the 80s used to be that due to the versatility and power of personal computers, dedicated gaming consoles were dead after the '84 crash.
Look how well that turned out.
I see the dedicated handheld market slowly plodding along towards digital distribution, similar to computer and console gaming but the mechanics and process won't be the same.
Dedicated portable gaming market will die when battery technology is sufficient enough that spending any serious amount of time gaming on our cellphones, especially resource and network intensive games, won't require us to have a charger or spare battery nearby.

Vita is a full fledged gaming device, and if they have fit in so much already into a small frame, and have throwed in 3g, why not a antenna? That would just make it a ultimate device (which my rom tries to achieve ), just throw in fb and twitter and your all good. Then vita will own ALL the handheld market

I do agree that smart phones are quickly gaining ground on dedicated handheld gaming machines, but even as smart phone technology improves, so does technology behind dedicated gaming devices. The difference is that in order for smart phones to remain in competition with gaming devices, they need multiple hardware and software upgrades before the next handheld gaming generation releases. I'm not so sure the handheld gaming market will be phased out entirely.
I think once an elegant way to figure out how to add good analog controls to a phone is found the stand alone market will be further eroded. Xperia PLAY is a step in the right direction but is somewhat half-baked.

Actually it is, an Android phone. There is already a version of the PSP known as the Xperia Play.
If the phone has 3G, an ATT sim card, and a microphone, then why do you all think some industrious developer won't just plug in the sim from one of his actual phone accounts and dev an app that allows you to make phone calls?
Just sayin.
As to holding a phone up to your face, haven't you heard of a bluetooth headset?

[q] how many people use a ipod touch after getting a droid device?

I thought this was a good question because, after i got my Droid i saw little to no use for the Ipod touch, i just wanna see how the rest of the community feels on it.
If the battery life wasn't so terrible on my D3 here, my ipod would be almost obsolete, however, the ipod is a fantastic mp3 player, and having a 64gig touch, that's quite a bit more space purely for music than what I can get on my droid. Also, I am subscribed to some podcasts, and I haven't found a good podcast app for android yet, so, my ipod touch will still see a lot of use from me. I also have an old 160gig classic ipod, and nothin is gonna touch the storage on that thing for a while.

Get Doggcatcher. You can download and stream podcasts, it remembers your progress if you have to stop in the middle and come back a few days later, etc. Very full featured.
We have two of them and they both collect dust to be honest my wife and myself dont want to carry a phone an ipod and such.
Google Music makes stand-alone mp3 players obsolete. That's what I use. I have my entire music library on my phone without having the actual files take up space on my phone. Of course, if you have a poor or no signal, it doesn't quite work. But you can cache playlists and songs if you want to have things available offline.
I used to have an ipod touch until I got Google Music on my Inc.

no, but the one thing Droid is missing is something like iTunes to sync / buy music. I know there are programs out there (I use iSyncr) that work fine, but it would be nice to have something built in.

...and nothing of value was lost.
Can't say I ever had an iTouch, but I do have (far too many) other devices. On the music front, I'm actually transitioning away form using my Droid du Jour as my default music player. More and more I find myself wanting physical, tactile controls. I've tried -- for years -- to find a dedicated Bluetooth AVRCP remote, but the closest I've found is overpriced A2DP pendants with crap battery life and terrible controls. Add the fickle hand of battery life, and I find myself reaching for the finest MP(3/4/5) player China can produce.

What to do with old Galaxy S?

I just got a SGS3 and I'm keeping my SGS for now. Any thoughts on some cool or useful things I could do with it now that I have my SGS3? I'm willing to try almost anything but I haven't thought of anything that I can't just do with my SGS3. I'll probably try put Jellybean on the SGS before I try it on the SGS3.
One idea is maybe use it for a webcam. I don't have a webcam right now so is there I way I can use the rear camera as a PC webcam?
Throw out some ideas. Keep in mind I don't have a data plan or voice plan for it anymore but wifi is an option still.
Thanks!

Clean flash and donate to a local charity of your choice
Why don't you donate it to a hardworking dev? I'm sure they could do something useful with the second phone.
The good first gen single core phones are starting to go off plan and turn up second hand. I picked up a Galaxy S Epic Sprint (the one with slider keyboard) last week at my favorite pawnshop for $60 mint, to mess with and use as a mini tablet. Apparently either the prior owner didn't deactivate it, or with Sprint (no sim card) once activated the phone works fine on wifi. First did factory reset, then rooted, now everything including GPS seems to work (other than the phone and cel data of course, at some point I'll install a Google Voice solution).
I'm using it as a middle of the night reader with a screen dimmer app. My wife has been bothered by the bigger screen lighting of the NC, so something smaller helps. Its a pretty good ereader/podcast player for this purpose. Lots of reader/news apps seem optimized for its WVGA screen, some have night mode. And I put a couple of games on it for the kids to use in the car instead of giving them my real phone.
Now I need to figure out something to do with the slider keyboard. Thinking maybe a remote keyboard app for the PC, anybody recommend an android app that will convert a slider keyboard to a remote computer keyboard through a network?
Hi,
Make a crach test movie
Regards,
I'd say put it away somewhere safe in case something happens to the S3 and you need a backup phone. That's what I'm planning to do with mine. My Galaxy S will be a backup and would be the one I would take on long hikes cause I won't be too bothered if I drop it, although I've kept it in mint condition.

Otherwise, I'd always planned that whenever I upgrade, I'd likely keep it for its amazing audio quality from its Wolfson DAC and Voodoo Sound; it's hands down the best portable music player I've owned. Plus, there was a good article on Lifehacker a ways back about people keeping older smartphones and iPod Touches with Skype on it to use as a 'house phone'.
