[PRJ][OS]Linux and Android on SE Xperia X1

This thread is here for information and discussion about the Linux kernel (and Linux based userspaces like Ångström distribution or google android.
If you have no clue what this is all about, click the above links and read a bit about it.
The xperia(kovsky) research information vital to porting the linux kernel is available at htc-linux.org
The kovsky is very similar to raphael, diamond and the other htc phones that are based on the QCT msm7xxxA chip. This is why the raphael/diamond development kernel code from the htc-linux project runs well on it.
Kovsky has its own machine type in the htc-msm-2.6.27 (see link above) branch now.

im kinda excited about this! if linux (& android) is able to run on the X1 smoothly, I'm definitely donating!

somehow i feel like setting up an X1 android version for it. since im more the "script" guy im rather useless for u if it comes to kernel development ^^
how stable and functional is the kernel so far?

afaik the wifi doesnt work. only usb0 which is laggy. (but works! you could ssh to the x1 per default.)
i am a little bit bussy at the moment (have to provide some sap-python-mysql-interface for productive use.)
but if i get spare time i will take a closer look at wifi...

I don't know many things on Kaiser device but if you read somewhere that it use a TI 1251 WLAN then... yes, it's the same.
I don't understand why do you correlate wifi and android booting
We're talking about this wifi chip just because it isn't supported in the linux-htc-kovsky package at the moment.

i was reading a combination of things,
-wifi not working and usb0 laggy.
-log readout over usb0
so i thought maybe for the log or something, nevermind

its not related. i jsut read that the USB connection was kind of laggy so once i set up a working wifi connection i can continue working with SSH over wifi. that was the only reason.

ah... ok i think this was my intention.
most of the time i am waiting for usb0 to get any response! i cant read on the display them self... so the next needed feature for _me_ was to get a stable/responsible connection (like wifi

Anyway i'm used to digg the kernel source and all the other stuff.
There are some questions though:
Those are introduced in the git repository of Mariusz "Aiv" Dalewski. Among other changes, it has the fully working xperia keyboard.

The aiv code is htc-msm-2.6.27 branch plus xperia changes. I think he doesn't want to make it available publicly yet. I'm waiting for it too so I can push it to linuxtogo. You can pull the htc-msm-2.6.27 either way.
usbnet is same driver as used for raphael.

For jtag, I think you need to wire it to the board manually.
For the raphael you can get a serial connection by making a cable that plugs in the usb port. Ask dreamkill about it. I don't know if it is wired the same way in xperia.

The patch applies fine but after having a short glimpse, this one has been extracted from the SDK. No proper Kconfigs or Makefiles
So i don't think this huge patch is intended to go into kernel tree again.
AFAIK, there's also a lot of stuff for userland inside.
Insider may know more about it!
Perhaps for WIFI on the X1 it's better to start with a more clean driver.

yes with htcraphael_defconfig xperia boots.
I will ask some people about 7xxxA jtag pins and let you know if I have any information.

Right, It copies some revision (see date of file upload) of the android git ti1251. It should enable you to build the kernel module.

It's no big secret the 10M google ti1251 driver is crap and it might really be better to use that wl12xx as soon as they have the SDIO.

Progress towards Notification Menu Power Widget Mod on Inc Framework

Ok. So as of now I have put about 19 straight hours of work into porting this thing over.

Thanks to JsiChiSurf for putting this together, the amount of work that went into was MASSIVE and you should all buy him a beer for it. Hes been extremely helpful as I waded though the (no exaggeration) thousands of lines of code he modified.
Also I wanna say thanks to Lou for browsing the thread when I visited his profile page or i wouldnt have noticed it last night.
As of now theres nothing to see, nothing to show you guys, but rest assured, its getting there. this is a HUGE mod, itll take some time. Look for it in my rom that ill be releasing in a week or so.

the issue wasnt actually apktool. looks like jsichisurf didnt have the extended battery mod (1-100%) on his base rom, so the ids from the new images needed for his mod conflict with the pre existing ones from the battery. im trying to find a way to set new ids for them all :/

got all three files to compile, just pushed them to my phone, rebooting now. hopefully i got this successfully ported to the inc framework!

well, if anyone interested in my progress, i almost have t successfully ported over. the framework-res and framework.jar files install without a hitch. the problem is the StatusBarService.smali in services.jar all the other ones ive been able to "port" over, but i havent been able to get it to work with that one, it gets JUST before the final boot and then starts to loop. you know the little vibrate your phone gives right before it goes from the boot animation to the homescreen? it gets that far. im close.
i figure once i get it working ill turn this int to official thread for the mod. wish me luck

i think i just got the services.jar to sucessfully install. just need to see if i can get all three to go nicely together
and of course to make sure i did actually did it right xD

I would just be careful. Lou from the RR Rom ported it and there is some 3g issues. You can find the thread in my Sig.

Ultimate Droid ROM has something similar to this. If you're having problems perhaps look at his code and see how he did it? I don't really know anything about this stuff so i apologize if that sounds dumb

Chances are its STOLEN...but no being serious, Ultimate Droid is based on the Cyanogenmod's main code base and is another AOSP (built from google's source) rom. As the OP stated, it took so long because he basically had to decompile the already built sense rom, then write what cyanogenmod already had done for the cyanogenmod toggle widgets into that new decompiled code.

so i dropped my heroc the other day when getting it off the shelf so that i could create/port something for this phone, sense i was getting bored with my evo, and after i dropped it i picked it up and checked to make sure everything works but only thing that doesn't is installing apps
any suggestions for fixes besides replacing are welcome
also i'd like to know somethings people would like to see done on the hero:
any mod ports to the phone you'd like?
any rom ports you all would like to see?

If you really wanted to do something useful, you would get into improving our current driver situation. We have an open-source camera driver (which wraps the OEM camera driver) in the CyanogenMod tree, but it needs work, especially on the camcorder side (camcorder doesn't focus at present).
There's also still a lot of work needed on the GL side. We have the libgles_qcom.so file from previous ROM images, but it isn't 100% compatible with Gingerbread (missing textures in Quadrant, etc).
The YouTube player sometimes plays audio-only when viewing "HQ" videos. I suspect this is due to a missing video codec and/or related to the above GL issues. We need work done on various codecs.
There's plenty of work to be done in kernel space. The 2.6.35 kernel posted by s0be is significant progress, but there is still plenty of room for improvement. Personally I would like to see more optimizations done on the kernel side because these will benefit all ROM images.
There are also various bugs in CyanogenMod that shouldn't be too difficult to fix, such as notification power widgets disappearing when changing themes. Check their issue tracker on Google Code to find some easy things to fix.
It would be awesome to see a fully-working 2.3.4 ROM image that was 100% AOSP and had completely working drivers. It would certainly make future development much easier and provide a nice base to build other ROM images from.
...oh, wait, that's right. You just want to "port" "tweaks"/themes/nonsense. Try fixing what we have right now before you give us more half-working junk.

IMO it would be better to release it even if it's not fully working. Then you"ll be able to finish it and people won't start another war about "wanna-be dev team".

I dont know how often to tell you guys that development needs much time... its fergys decision to release at stable status of cm11

Please someone from Pure4dev releases an alpha version of Cm11 after all the majority of devs release, even with bugs, for users to test. I understand that the team wants to release an initial stable release, but release a alpha version for us (while the ROM is not stable) would not hurt nobody the Team, much less to us.

The answer you'll get is "NO". We all have to agree here that this is the fault of the Pure4Team. They gave promises, ETAs and other bullcrap to provide us hope for this device, but what they did didn't help them in the least. I am not bashing anyone, but they showed to be the most lousy "team" of developers I've seen in the couple past years since I am on XDA. I have been to many forums, either for me or friends, and not once have I seen someone so childish around here. I don't say that this CM11 they're building doesn't exist, but all they did is start a flame war. It's better to just shut up about something until it's released, than start all this asking about something that isn't yet ready. My two cents, don't ask about it until it's released.

PEPEREPPEPPEEEE here I am! But not for too long, I have to do stuff on a rockchip3188 device.
If you closely look at device/[vendor]/[codename]/ && vendor/[vendor]/[codename]/ (which are the MOST IMPORTANT folders when you build a CM) You'll notice they haven't been updated for 2 or 1 Months/Month.
This leaves us three possible ideas.
1) They don't update the source code
2) They don't work on those files (This means every driver is correctly working? Then I don't see why this infamous CM11 is unstable! Everything works!)
3) Don't know, from what I have seen before, I'd say they haven't even got the display working (or else why picture the terminal? Which didn't even need a camera, you could have just used Stamp R Sist, if you even know what that is)
So yeah, I'm happy people woke up and understood. I'm crying tears of joy.

1)Sources on git are old and still with 3.4 kernel, we're working on 3.14
2)We have our private "cloud" where we place our files
3)Adreno is fixed now, if we show a blank screen everyone can say that's not turned on, logs are better in these moments.

Man, I love you just because you're so damn right. Heck, I'll even take you on a date. Everything you've said so far made perfect sense + your rage combined with some great sarcastic remarks made this one of the most interesting "conversations" here on xda. I only find it sad that you're still bothering with these kids, but I don't mind, keep rocking. Hey, Swap=Ram is enough to keep you going. I love the general section.
