How to rate and comment on apps from within there honeycomb market? - Xoom Themes and Apps

can't figure this out, Iam quite annoyed. If you can do it on a phone you should be able to do it on a tablet.
If I go to the web based market I can do it, but to hell with that, why should I need to? What an inconvenience.

As of right now you can't.

I've noticed this too. There was one app that I was lookoing at once and it actually had little tabs at the top for comments, ratings and ect. Its weird it isn't for all of them.

I was trying to figure this out as well, its rediculous that you can't submit ratings on the tablet market app!

My first pet peeve. What can I say, even Google is not immune to hiring morons.
But I suspect it is because they don't want a bunch of negative reviews on apps that are not designed for the tablet yet. However, it should still be available for the tablet features apps.
BTW, it's so annoying that the Facebook widget doesn't work on Honeycomb and neither does Pandora. Jeez.

Yeah the devs are seriously slacking at Facebook

Trillian has a ton of annoyances I'd love to comment on yet can't, so yeah it's pretty annoying.

WOW! This is the most constructive comment i've read on the internet about this issue so far...thanks!

Since honeycomb ecosystem is not yet evolved, they make it harder for zoom users to post bad comments and bad ratings. They did it on purpose. They were smart to do this in a sence. But it makes me hate their guts a bit.

this is exactly the reason why. i suspect it will soon once they have a way of marking apps which are honeycomb optimized - and then you can comment on those apps
edit: if it bugs you log on to the market from a pc and you can post reviews there

I wouldn't say that... If developers want to go with the times, they can't simply ignore honeycomb. I'm sure they are thinking about it alright. I agree it's annoying... but just give it some time.

fyi... Load a phone account gmail that u have with a facebook app with... Then goto market and download your market apps from that phone acct... I have a working facebook widget on mine..

I use web browser, login to android market (from xoom), rate, leave comments... then i open market and i can leave, rate apps without browser!

The xScope browser. After reading about it here earlier today I grabbed it and can't believe how it shows the ability of this tablet. I set the browsing agent as a "computer" and every site I've checked works flawlessly, including those with a lot of flash that didn't work before. Youtube videos look amazing and the speed is second to none.
The reason I wanted to mention it here is because so many people are working hard to make this tab the best it can be and I thought this shows what we have to work with. Personally this is going to allow me to do a lot more business work and makes the purchase a great move for me!
Sorry for getting a little over excited.

Using stock and dolphin HD/Lite, login app falls behind some flash advertise, and no way to move the login applet front.
Yes, you can use Android App for BofA, but it is horrible. Too many crashes, and it works when it wants.

ah ok hopefully its fixed by the time i get my tablet since i do use the app alot.
I really didn't feel this thread needed to be moved. It's relevant to those of us working non-stop on the roms like TNT. It's important that we know what apps are making the most of the roms as a lot can be learned from that. I wasn't simply looking to review the app.
People love Dolphin and I don't know why. I have been using Xscope since it was free and I even paid for it now that it isn't and it just gets better with every update. It blows the other browsers out of the water!

On the contrary, this is related to a browser APP, which can be used regardless of which ROM is on your gTAB. Apps is the perfect forum for this post.

You're right had it been app review, which it wasn't. I was addressing those of us using certain roms.
Just a heads up. When I last used Skyfire the webpages were all generated on their servers. So unless things have changed I'd avoid using it for things like financial transactions.

Don't want to go on anymore about this too much, but this absolutely belongs in apps. You didn't say anything specific about a ROM, or development. You did give an app review about how it runs on this device. There currently is a lot of app related posts coming into development pushing down threads, and our mod is rightly so moving them.
On another note, I am on the list of of people who don't understand the hype on Dolphin and love xScope. I encourage everyone to try it.
Love loading webpages up, then hitting menu to go fullscreen. The toggle makes it great. Also nice swiping between tabs.
Can any one tell me where to find the xScope browser. Of course the crappy gmarket site the gtab has built in doesn't carry it.
I like XScope 6 a lot. Today I was able to watch a rental movie (from Amazon digital store) at full screen and no issues at all. The browser agent was set to "computer" with XScope and Amazon who needs the iTunes store?

Tablet apps not showing in the tablet section

I don't understand how the company that revolutionized the internet by creating the worlds best online search engine, can not properly run and organize the search functions of an app store.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.trendstertab&feature=search_result
Trendster HD for instance which is a honeycomb specific app is not showing in the tablet section and how is there not a damn filter for results! Sometimes I feel like Google doesn't really care that much about android.
Wow here is another one

My point is that I think google is cherry picking the apps that show up in that section. It's not the tablet app section its the featured tablet app section so the apps must merit being featured. I do however think there should be away to search for honeycomb optimized applications in addition to this featured tablet app section.
People pay to be on the fetured app section because its more marketing for there app witch I think is stupid

Give it time... good lord. Apple had a slow start to the tablet sections too. Everyone is so damn sensitive nowadays. Give it time and the formatted apps will appear. Hell google just released that special file or whatnot that allows designers to design for all screen size/format in one apk. Dont tell me google doesnt care, its just a slow start not to mention i personally believe that motorola pushed google to release a not fully finished os to beat out the iPad2 announcement.

the op's point makes sense, he isn't complaining about the number of apps. when i hit that tablet featured tab i expect to see apps that are table optimized. there are many tablet and honeycomb optimized apps that are hard to find. if they are charging the people who pay money should just have theirs on top. Right now when you hit that button they make it seem like there are only 20 or so honeycomb apps period.

[Q] How many apps now in android market for tab?

Hello,
I am contemplating buying a galaxy tab. I would like to know if someone can help me find out how many many apps available right now to the tab. Personally, i feel the number is not that important as long as the apps you really need are available, but i thought of asking anyways.
I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

But isn't that for android phones as well? I was talking about apps made for tabs.
Thanks for replying.
It's not really as comparable as in the Apple App store, which needed the apps converting to tablet versions, as Android apps tend to be able to scale to multiple resolutions in a neater manner.
The SDK has many examples of handling different resolutions/dpi devices, so these days, pretty much everything you see, scales on phones/tablets.
So still worth going to the market and just browsing away.
There /are/ some games that require tegra chips, not sure what filter to show just them though.
For games there is thread discussion here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897901
the guestion you should ask IS ... How Many Apps Aren't For The Galaxy Tab
More than you can afford
swyped from a galaxy far far away
Just to clarify coz I've been asking myself the same question.
Almost all the apps in the market will work on the Tab and look nice because it is still counted as a phone (software wise). Still, all the 'Tablet" apps which are made for the Honeycomb will not work on our Tab.
Among the ones that work, I found a lot of the apps that make a slight use of the bigger screen but not as the honeycomb.
A wrap up, you'll find more than what you need in the market for the Tab...

Yes, but apps made for phones work on tablets as well. Take Angry Birds for example. There is no tablet specific Angry Birds app. The phone version works just fine on tablets though. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but in general, any app that works on a phone will work on a tablet.

Whoot! I have read into this. Google Play is a vision by Google to streamline connectivity of devices. New phones that are coming out are going to very much designed like the iphone, internal memory, internal battery. This is because Google has a cloud service, and most devices will have 16-32 GB memory, and that is it. Sony has the new Ion coming out and has made arrangements with dropbox for 50GB of cloud storage. The cloud is in. On the phone side, manufacturers know we want the latest and greatest, which is why there is a 6-9 month shelf life on most devices, and we upgrade every 18-24 months anyway.
So Google wants you to know that anything you have on your phone, you can have on your tablet or PC, much like Apple. And in order to do that, they could no longer call it "Market" as the name indicates that you can only buy products. With Play, you can buy, but store in the cloud and play the items on your phone and PC. Which is popular because Windows also does it. And with the fear of Windows closing in on Android, you bet that Android/Google is going to anything to keep an edge.

Lol 2 things you said that really cracked me up.
1. Google had cloud storage first so they're not doing anything "like apple"
2. Have you seen sales stats recently? Windows phones are nowhere near catching up to Android lol.
But yes I do agree that most smartphones nowadays are getting built like the iPhone which I completely hate. Why would you not want a removeable battery? Why would you not want external storage? Just makes no sense to me.

Correct they did cloud first. The article I read was saying they want consumers to have a better idea that your goodies are seamlessly assessable between your devices. I knew that, but I gather that not everyone knows that. And another article said that windows mobile will be a giant by the end of the year. I disagree there too, but you don't know what they got up their sleeve.

Can't believe we were anxiously awaiting this..

Android 4.2 doesn't even seem well thought out, let alone designed. Is Google playing the Apple game, tying us into their universe and making us take whatever the deliver?
Do they even care how many apps won't work or have to have multiple purchases to support their multi-user "security"? Should have just left the multi-user thing to 3rd party devs. They fail on this, IMO.

Google doesn't care.. Remember when 4.1.1 broke a bunch of paid apps by sticking them in the asec folder which wasn't mounted at startup? So since it wasn't mounted Android never saw the apps during boot and paid keyboards and widgets disappeared after a reboot. MONTHS went by before it was addressed. Meanwhile developers of those paid apps had angry customers and money lost because of Google
This will be the same song and dance.. Google is getting very sloppy with development and communication with developers pre-release seems to not exist.
I love it.

Android is and always will be "A WORK IN PROGRESS". My opinion only but if you want bland and safe sell your nexus 7 to me for .50 cents and get a ipad mini.
People who are having issues Please go to the developers web site and let them know your app is not working properly .Give them exact details. You can do the same to google at groups.google.com. Just be Patient
Now my GRIPE The multi user cluster (word here im not typing) as others said was not well though through by google. My guess is they made a date promise and pushed out only part of the Feature.. Typical Google.

I suppose YMMV, but I love 4.2. Smoother than 4.1, and nice features. The only thing that really seems half-assed is the multiuser support.
What is your problem with multi-user? For me and my daughter it is working great - could not be better.
I did add my account to her user ID Play store so she could see the apps we own and install the link.
Performance is good - all our preferences and accounts are separated - and I really can't think of any other features I would want.

I haven't played with multi-user yet, can you add the account just for the play store and not have someone access the gmail account associated with it?
That's my gripe, I want to be able to for ex, have my nephew play with my tablet and all the games etc, but don't want him to access to my gmail etc. I thought this was perfect for that but then read about the app issue. Also, I assume there is no type of limited user, in that a secondary account can still uninstall apps, but at least they can't delete files from the other users home dir.
Yes - my account is just added to my daughter's play store. Open play store and look at add account option.
Works perfectly to give her access to the apps we share.
NO shared Gmail.
Forgot something important:
When you add a second account to play store, you are given a bunch of items you can synch, like contacts.
Uncheck them all!

Stick mount wasn't a feature of 4.1. It was hacked in which is why you had to be rooted and use an app. You'll get USB support again. Multiuser support screwed with the storage. That's all.
New tweaks are a little rough around the edges but will be smoothed out soon enough. Give it time, damn guys. I personally think its no better or worse then 4.1.2. We just have a few new toys now.

4.2 = 1st time I've truly experienced "butter"...
Sure, I kinda miss the bells & whistles I had on Codename Android, and I'll definitely check out any forthcoming 4.2 updates, but scrosler's stock, rooted, deodexed ROM is far & away the smoothest, quickest ROM I've used on any Android device. Stock kernel, no tweaks, plain vanilla is for me for now. Way better Google experience. OK, I sideloaded the AOSP browser for Flash, but that's it. Chrome is much more responsive on 4.2 than 4.1.2 - Everything is noticeably quicker - I even detect better wireless response. Your results may vary, but I'm not going back!

Well, I do belive that you are right. I also feared (and expected, to tell the truth) that something EXACTLY like this would happen. I tried NOT to update the system, but why the hell did they keep forcing it when we obvoiusly do not want it? And probably, they must have known that it will broke a lot of things...
Just to explain: for me, there was a message with three buttons: upgrade, more info (which leads to seme text and bigger "upgrade" button and "later", but that "later" means only "ask at next screen unlock" which made the tablet realy hard to use. So, what choice have I had?
