Hey I've been playing cod2 online a lot on my computer lately and I was wondering if there was anything I could do to lower my ping usually it stays under 300 but evryonce in awhile it'll randomly jump above 500 and the ping police get me and I get kicked of the server so I was wondering if there were any tweaks I could do to wirless tetherfrom Google like changing frequencys exc

Wow. You can tether COD over your phone? Hot damn that's a good speed! I get crap over here. :'(

Yea its actually not that bad lol
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA Premium App

Yeah, well I envy your speed brother. As for the tether, I don't think nothing can be done besides hardware check and phone positioning. There might be something out there that, if installed, would make your wireless access card run more effeciently with the rooted wireless tether program, but I'm not sure.
However, in your search you DO find a solution, let us know! I'll be having this Hero until a dual core comes out, so I got plenty of months ahead!

Will do

Wireless tether is basically stealing. Full props to verizon for finally blocking it. And gnesoid was taken down by he developer it is not being blocked by verizon.

Explain this to me. How is this stealing?
Is using Google Navigator stealing because VZW has VZ Navigator which they charge a monthly fee to use?
We pay $30+ for our data package, we shouldn't have to pay additional fees to use that same data.

Sigh. They [verizon] never blocked it, the developer pulled it on request of sega. Verizon might piss you off at times, but they don't care about a video game emulator to a 20+ year old system, lol. However...the former console company that hasn't really done much since they retired the said system might want to complain...
So why was Gensoid taken down? According to the developer, it was at the request of Sega. They must have contacted Google and gotten the emulator taken off the market. What exactly Sega claimed in order to take it down isn't know as Google usually isn't forthcoming with details, just general overviews, when asked. The next question is, why now?

It's also obvious if you search the market on your computer (not your phone). Wireless tether is still there if you use a browser, gensoid is not.

Stealing
Charging customer more money to tether to another device is stealing. Way I look at it, we already pay for 5gb of data (some unlimited). Wireless carriers should let us tether to any device we want to our data limit. I pay for my data plan and should be able to use any way I want to up to the carriers limit.
Barnacle Wifi Tether is still in there at least, i always liked that better anyways.
Just put your phone in airplane mode and turn wifi on and go to the market you will then be able to see all tether apps.

[Q] SLOW 3G!

I dont know what is up but my 3g speeds are so slow... I have three bars and my speed test is at .3 mbs my upload is at .5 mbs does any one know of a fix?
It could be the tower you are acessing has low bandwidth availability. With that said I had the same issue and it turned out to be a DNS issue. With the suggestion from another revo user I installed setdns and changed the default DNS to Google DNS servers. Of course this app requires root but I have noticed a tremendous improvement after installing it.

The latest version of SETDNS doesn't work properly. It request superuser permissions for everything.
Also, DNS improves browsing speed, but not bandwidth tests.
For the REVO I recommend using DNS Changer

Using REVOLUTION as a modem

Anyone know if this is possible? I want to connect my phone to my laptop and use the internet, when I plug it in I see the option for "internet connection" but it doesn't do anything.
Thanks for the help
Search "tether" and you will find what you are looking for.
There's 2 options. You could use wifi tether. Wich u have to search Google for. Or u can use easy tether which is on the market

But if I use wifi tether. Won't I need to.be connected to a wifi network? I want to use my 3g/4g connection. If there is wifi connectivity, I could just connect my laptop to that, I wouldn't need my phone?
Thanks for the clarification

Wifi Tether will be included in the next GingerVolt also. I am trying to find a way to get it to have certain settings automatically, but no luck so far.
With ur USB tether share switcher works really well for me. Just add the widget and click on the usb

Ouch!! I just slapped my forehead really hard.
Good answers gentlemen, as always.
In our themes and apps section, there is a thread "wifi tether, not mine" there is an app that works perfect for me. I have thought about dropping ATT for net, and just using Verizon for surfing at home. That would save me 50 dollars a month. Downfall: I have an awesome phone that can do that, my wife does not. So I would have to retire, and live at home and write best selling books so my phone could always be here to make a connection to the net for my wife. Boy.. that would be... terrible.

Your provider may require you to pay a fee. There are likely folks that can get around paying.
I did try "easy tether" when I found that the rooting process damaged my tethering setup. It did work well for an hour to two, until my provider found me and throttled me down to dial-up speed. "Their support guy enjoyed my story and admitted the same thing happened to him once too.

Does HSDPA work? (H3G Italy)

Ok fact is: I did lots of tests over 3G but I never ever got over 5mbits tops (2AM tests)
Does it really work up to 7.2Mbits?
Anyone got experience of this?

The providers always write "up to" for a reason. You're most likely never going to reach that speed but that's how high it goes.

Yeah know the marketing, mate.
But since H3G also sells 42mbits internet keys I figured someone lucky must have seen faster speeds...
Otherwise it would mean they don't have the infrastructure.
And if so newphones would be a waste (thinking about getting a galaxy nexus)
By the way isn't there an app to show the connection speed like for wifi?

I assume that the people that actually pay for 42mbps should get speeds near to that. You're paying for 7.2mbps, correct? So about 5mbps is totally fine. There are apps to test your speed. Just search "Speedtest" on the market.

Not a dumb question at all. 2.4 has range and better thru walls. If u have wide open space then 5.ghz is smooth and less traffic. All wireless phones started on 2.4 5 is a few years old. 5ghz range is shorter but does not like walls and going thru things.

I have it and it's definitely a GREAT wifi access point. I don't use the routing functions, it's hooked up to an 8 port switch into my ISP's given router.
I haven't had anything good to say about wifi calling, though. Both my wife's phone and my own (both N4's) consistently disconnect calls after a short period of time, i think it was like 10 seconds or something. Never looked into it, we don't need it anyways. Willing to bet it's got something to do with AT&T Uverse congestion/throttling/etc..

Hey man, have you had to hard reset your router and upgrade your version of Merlin's through the recovery utility? It doesn't work through the Admin page (for me, at least). Just wondering if there's an easier method to update than what I've been doing
Btw, I'm also using this router running Merlin's (not quite latest) opensource Asus firmware. This router is definitely fantastic. My cable connection speed is 50 down / 10 up... and that's exactly what I see on every wifi speed test I run from my phone :good:
