[Q] for anyone using a screen protector - A7 Accessories

Which one are you using?
How, if at all, does it help with the finger print issue?
I ordered a 3M Natural View screen protector and am trying not to get my hopes to high lol

Cut down screen.....
I bought a screen protector at WalMart for $14. It was for an Ipad. Worked fine. Kind of a pain cutting the curved ends, but looks good.
It does wonders for the fingerprints!!! NONE AT ALL!
Can hardly tell it is on there, although it seems like the screen may not be as sensitive as before. Might just be me though.
I even got dirt on it when I dropped it on the table. Took it to the bathroom, rinsed it under the faucet, then it went on fine. It was a static cling type - no glue.
It was make by Fellows, and has the label Writeright.
Oh yea---it actually had 2 screen protectors in it. So a deal at 14 bucks!

I am using a iPad screen protector as well,
Bought of eBay for a couple of bucks...

ordered a generic 7 inch tablet screen protector through Amazon when I got my A7. Works very well! (doesn't cover the bezel, but perfectly covers the touch screen)

just an FYI, do not use Zagg's "invisible shield" as it definately disrupts the touch screen. I am now using a generic anti glare that works fine

InviisbleShield vs. Martin Fields vs. Brando

What is the best screen protector and why?
i want to order one as i will hopefully soon get an X1.
Pros & Cons of each?
I've only used Martin Fields so I cannot compare. All I can say is that I have never considered anything else since I first bought my first MF 4 years ago.
I have had a Martin Fields screen protector on an old iPaq for a good five or six years now and I can't fault it.
As for InvisibleShield, I put one on an iPhone and despite being a little fiddly on the curves it makes the phone feel bomb-proof, any scuffs it picks up I've managed to polish out and most importantly for a touchscreen it isn't too grippy so your finger/stylus still slide nicely.
Currently on my Xperia I have a DuraSec protector, I've used them before on older phones and they're good quality but they're a bit grippy so not really suitable for a touchscreen in my opinion.
I would go for (and I have ordered) an InvisibleShield.
on my N95 8gb I have tried both the InviisbleShield and Martin fields and I can honestly say Martin fields was way ahead in terms on clarity and strength, the only reason I changed it because I had a very deep key cut on the screen but nothing penetrated to the screen so I thought lets try the InviisbleShield and when i tried it I did not find the clarity as good and did not thing it was strong as martin fields and they says it military grade
I've used invisible shield on a camera LCD & also on an iPod. I find their protector extremely grippy with a stylus.
I expect the material is the same, be it for a camera/iPod/touchscreen - so I'm a bit surprised to hear comments that it isn't grippy.
I have used Martin Fields in the past on a SE P800, and the feeling was perfect. In fact, it felt smoother than on the original screen.
I've used Martin Fields, Boxware & Exim protectors on touchscreen phones. They're all the same quality IMHO in terms of smoothness & clarity, although they do eventually wear & pick up scratches. I tend to get 12-18 months out of such a screen protector. (I write quite a bit on the screen, so it's fairly heavy usage that they get)
Martin Fields screen protector is very good. It doesn't make your screen look dull at all. Stylus glide on the screen very smoothly. I use Martin Fields on my O2 XDA Zinc and MWg Zinc II. It looked as though as there's no screen protector on it at all!
I've also ordered 1-set of InvisibleShield and 1-set of Martin Fields just because I smoothness and clarity on my screen and camera with the Martin Fields and also the scratch proof protection on the rest of my baby with InivisibleShield
i also think ill opt for the martin fields for the screen and the invisible shield for the body...however is the invisible shield really that grippy, or would just using it for the entire X! (Screen and body) suffice?
just got my martinfields a couple of days ago, looks great plus a nice smooth surface for touchscreen.
The InvisibleShield arrived today so I'll fit it over the weekend and let you all know how I get on.
I used to use Martin Fields for the screen and Invisible Shield for my phones, but both of them together are quite expensive. So now I'll be getting Invisible Shield for body protection and a cheaper screen protector like Clearvue which I hear is comparable to Martin Fields and about half the price. Besides, even if small scratches do eventually show up on the screen protector it's really not that noticable when the screen's backlight is turned on.
Does anyone have any pictures of the Invisible Shield full covering (before applying I guess!).
Is it worthwhile, being metal, does the Xperia need it?
How does invisible shield full body work on X1? I have only seen videos for iPhone and Diamond, but there it's a no brainer. Flush screen, no real keys, no slide keyboard. Do you get it in three parts: back, front and screen?
The Invisibleshield seems to come in various parts cut to size. I guess it would be a real ***** to fit.
I did a bit of searching last night and found a post where someone said that it only lasted three months as dirt was attracted to the edges.
I've gone just for the Martin Fields screen, cheapest I found it was £9.95 plus postage from BlueUnplugged (waiting for stock).
ordered my invisible shield today. i dont have the x1 yet..waiting for the black...omn;ly silver is available =(
Reveived my Brando screen protector yesterday.
applyd it to my xpera this morning.
Feels and lookt good BUT!!!!!!!!!
It does not fit!
It is to short, there is about 2 or 3 milli meter uncoverd.
it does cover the width.almost perfect, so no complain there.
Send them an email about this asking why they call it the screen protector for the xperia if it failes to cover the entire screen

Your brando is defective.
Mine fits absolutely perfect
just got a new one.. and this one fits
I have just got a Martin Fields protector, it's fab, smooth and responsive.
However I cannot vote, I can't compare to things I haven't tried (except for the crappy thing I got off ebay).
im using the invisible shield for screen and camera. bit sticky..good protection..ordered martin fields..waiting

What screen protectors do you recommend?

Hi, I've bought recently this phone and wanted a sturdy screen, preferably a glass tempered one but I've got no idea what brands to go for or if those that you can buy cheap on ebay are enough. I'm a bit clumsy so the possiblity of it slipping out of my hand by accident and falling on its screen is there. If anyone can give some input based on experiences, that'd be great.
Cheap plastic ones from amazon always seem to work fine on all my devices.. When they get scratched I have no issues throwing on a new one.
They are cheap but keep the screen flawless

hi, i am using nillkin H+, i bought it from amazon
Things i liked in this Nillkin :
1) my friends tempered glasses catches scratches, fades after long time use (4 months) and makes screen unusable in rain, but as nillkin is having real nano coating it helps me to operate my phone even in rain with out much problem
2) i bought a tempered glass before worth 270inr from ebay it was good to look, but when i was about to remove it as its not having Nano coating on it, then i observed that it cracked and formed small powder fragments on edges when i tried to remove it with hard plastic :silly:
later i installed nillkin, had to remove this also as i didnt manage to fit it perfectly on my screen.. i used the same hard plastic, this time Nillkin tempered didnt break nor atleast formed any tiny fragments, i lifted it and set again with out any problem
these are my observing on my tempered glass
I bought a tempered glass one for around $3 on eBay, haven't gotten it yet. I don't know if the more expensive ones are better, but better can mean 2 things. Either that it's stronger, so won't break easily; or that it protects the phone better. I doubt one will protect the phone more than the other.

I do the same thing. No problems yet.
I bought a nillkin H+ but removed it after a while because the phone screen is much less oleophobic. With the screen protector on, the fingerprints were extremely annoying, at least on my sample.
So can anyone recommend a really good high quality glass screen protector without flaws? If there is none then i'll order motorola official flip shell...

The $3 ones on eBay don't have flaws. I have one and I know other people who have them, no one has any problems with them. Just first learn how to put it on so you don't break it.

Undersized
I bought a tempered glass one from an online (no brand). It's undersized, about 1.5mm all around. Probably useful to allow a case to grip the front edge, but the description didn't say so. I feel cheated, but for the price it'll do.
My previous tempered glass ones (branded) were excellent protection, and felt better on my finger than the plastic ones.
[edit] I forgot to say, the shape is one with cut-out north of the top speaker, rather than the others I've seen with speaker hole.
Moto G Premium Quality Screen Protector is Anti Glare Matte edition in my recommendation.
it Protects your device from scratches & dust. Easy to Apply , Fits perfectly and requires no cutting. Comes with a cleaning cloth and application card. Easily removable with no sticky residue or marks
Tempered glass screen protector from amazon
I've been using a SPARIN tempered glass screen protector since I got my moto g in August. (It's about $8 on amazon; unfortunately I can't post a link, but it should be easy to find)
I've managed to crack it in at least 8 places (my phone falls a lot), but it hasn't picked up any scratches yet, and it's protected the actual glass underneath. If you're even a little proficient at holding things, it should be fine.
Snakehive protector
I've only had it a few days, but I bought a Snakehive tempered glass protector for my new G3, from their Amazon store. Very pleased so far. It has cutouts for the mouthpiece at the bottom and for the earpiece, light sensor and camera at the top, although at the top it doesn't surround them for some reason, but that's only a couple of milimetres uncovered. It was a breeze to put on when compared to film protectors. I laid it over the mouthpiece and it simply eased itself into place over the rest of the screen. Seems a bargain at the current £3.95.
I'm wanting to get the flip down case from Snakehive too, assuming they get more stock in.

First day of smartphone, yes good idea to have a screen protection. But now with gorilla glass, useless.
It's my point of view.

I used and have a Mr shield or something like that from Amazon super easy too install i've had no bubbles when placing it on the phone also bought a case where there was enough space that should it fall on the screen side it's not touching the floor I've dropped my phone about 5 times over the course of a year. Took off the case and replaced the screen protector and it still looks like brand new minus where I've blindly inserted the USB cord.
10 days to 1 year since i purchased the device . never used any screen protector and been 8 month since i didnt use any case either.
no scratches

my phone has some minor scuffs and little bend on bottom right corner but thats coz the phone fell from above 5 feet . must say the build quality is very solid
Honestly, you just don't need them these days. Had my G3 6 months, not a single scratch and I am hardly careful with it, gets thrown in pocket with keys and lose change, and dropped often because I am clumsy. Plenty of dents along the bezel but screen as good as new.

Finally a proper fitting glass screen protector.

I have tried many and finally found one that actually fits. Until now the best one I have seen is the non glass protector made by Skinobi (for those that like plastic ones use it). However in the glass department they all sucked. The Qoosea one fit but it's about as cheap as you can get construction wise. It's curved but it only has a small amount of basic adhesive along the edges. So basically pocket lint can get under the screen and get stuck there. Also since it doesn't fully sit on the screen sometimes using the screen itself can be a hassle due to poor touch detection. Well all I can say is thank god Top Ace came out with one recently and actually got it right.
It's curved glass, plenty of adhesive on the side that counts and by god it actually fits perfectly. Things line up where they are supposed too. Anyway figured this deserved it's own post since finding a glass protector for this phone can be a pita at times due to the curved edges. Posted a link below, hope it helps. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M3MZQTK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got mine yesterday and I can confirm that yes, this one actually fits great. I bought 2 in case they don't make them anymore when the first one eventually breaks.
From the pictures and one of the latest reviews it looks like this screen protector covers up the light sensor. Are there any completely clear screen protectors that fully covers the front?
Just read one of the comment said it covers the sensor that the phone is unable to turn on the screen automatically during a call when you put it away from your face. Anyone can confirm it?
I bought one on Ebay and it arrived and had curvy edges, but the idiots had sent me one for the full-size Xperia X even though it was in a packet marked X Compact. Way too big. Now I have to fight for a refund.

Mine had the sensor cut out and everything was right where it was supposed to be. Maybe he got the wrong one not sure. I went with the black one and it was fine.

Anyone know of a UK source for these or a seller who will post to the UK on Ebay/Aliexpress etc?
I too bought one that only sticks to the edge of the phone and it's already got a piece of dust underneath it! I love being able to swipe from the edge with the curved edges and I love the longevity of glass screen protectors, but it's horrible to use as it's just floating a bit off the surface of the phone and makes a click noise/feel when I tap. I asked a load of Ebay sellers and they all said their glass curved screen protectors only stick around the edge of the phone.
Thanks.
Hi,
I found this one on Devilscase when I checked the Aluminium bumber.
http://www.twdevilcase.com/en/index.php?menu=prod_detail&mid=21&did=7&pid=5258&list=class It's curved and seems to have the adhesive on the full screen (except the edges).
Did anyone tried it already out?
Cheers from Erfurt/Germany

Based on them saying all over the website "Please be noted the adhesive is visible on the edge of CURVED Glass Protector" I imagine these ones only have glue on the edges too.
If anyone is wondering, I've attached a photo of what happens if you use a generic glass Ebay curved screen protector that only has glue on the very edges for a fortnight! Lots of dust has crept in through the speaker holes etc - the white dots showing are all dust UNDER the screen protector. I'm going to buy a plastic one that will stick properly.
I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N8XMXGB
Seems like it just ran out of stock though.
edit: I asked the seller and they said they will not restock it, so I guess this will be the last time you'll see it.

I did. I paired it with the aluminum bumper and while the bumper is top quality as usual with devilcase products, I can't say the same for the screen protector.
The screen protector does fit perfectly but it collects dust behind it after few weeks and the responsiveness and consistency of the touchscreen are compromised.
I've been looking for an alternative to buy in Europe but found none. Topace is not an option as is in stock only on Amazon USA. If anyone has suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem and got refunded. Ordered from different seller and got the correct sized one. The item itself is bad. It feels plastic, touch is not always responsive and swipe gesture for opening menu drawer is hard. I need to really press the edge before doing the slide. Screen feel more distance and it feels there are separation between the protector and the screen.
I replaced it with a generic plastic screen protector which actually feels better, easier to make slide gesture, seems more seamless. The ebay curved screen protector is really that bad. I am going to keep using the plastic one and cut a new one to fit it more properly. I also need to check how to prevent it is being lifted up accidentally from the dangling side. I can stand the dust on the dangling side, but i hate when it is lifted up and the lint is actually below the screen protector.
My experience
This is the reference for my second e-bay cover it does not have dust and has lasted much longer than my first that did.
My recollection is that there is adhesive everywhere.

No. You are wrong. I bought one based on your recommendation and it's just another rubbish one that only only has glue in thin strip round the edges that will allow dust to creep in the speaker/camera holes and scratch the screen. More negative feedback to leave!
Why do not manufacturers produce a curved screen protector that's made properly!?! The glue can't be that expensive! [emoji36]

Galaxy Note 8 Case Thin Fit 360 - With integrated glass protector

https://www.spigen.com/collections/...-note-8-case-thin-fit-360?variant=36835984257
This is the new galaxy note 8 cover from Spigen, does anyone got this? This is still unavailable in Europe.
Someone who own this could tell if you have any touch issue? Thanks in advance
its on amazon for only 17.99. see if you can order it through there instead.
I had the spigen glass protector with a different case, the 20 minutes the protector lasted on the phone I needed to do everything 3 times to get a response. Protector came off in my pocket, cut the lining of my suit and scratched me. Spigen didn't even respond to me via amazon when told. I have bought spigen for years, never again.

i can't, i must wait a few weeks that it comes to europe
I just got mine in today. I have a black Note 8, but got the deep sea blue case to add a bit of color to my life. The color is awesome, the fit of the case is great, but the screen protector is just okay. It took a minute to get it aligned properly, but it definitely feels like the touch sensitivity is worse and catches finger prints and smudges pretty easily. I typically don't use screen protectors, so it's a big difference for me. If they had an option for the case without the screen protector for a cheaper price, I would've gone with the case only, but since the screen protector came with it, I figured I'd give it a shot. If things don't work out, I'll just peel off the screen protector. The case is awesome though, I'm coming from a Speck presidio grip case, and am very happy with the Spigen 360.
Thanks for the info. i guess i'll take it asap. It just need to pop on amazon EU
Got my case today. I like the feel of it. Super low profile. Only thing I don't like are the connection joints. Some of them are flared out slight. Must be the material.
For the screen protector. I used the diy loca glue technique. I had extra laying around from my whitestone. Looks very nice. Have two bubbles but they are not in my "normal" touching zones and should have no negative effect. I'll post pics shortly

I have the LG V60 from T-mobile this is what I got from Supcase on amazon, it has a built in screen protector. No need for tempered glass with this case, in my opinion. These cases won't work with it anyway, the tempered glass is too thick.

You don't get the clicky sound from the gap between protector and phone screen? Last phone I tried that with was flat but that miniscule gap would make a "tap tap" sound, so I ripped off the built in. This was years ago tho, when I was still on Samsung before they ruined their screens
Supcase Unicorn with Zagg glass user here. No glass screen protector I have tried goes all the way to the edge of the screen.
Enough of a gap that the Supcase frame perfectly fits along the outside glass without overlap anywhere.
D-Max Armor glass is hot trash of a protector. Thinnest of the glass I've tried. Cracked in two days. LK glass didn't have good adhesive. Removed it because of the massive edge bubbles drove me crazy.
This Zagg glass works nice, but is not worth the price. This time I didnt even take the phone out of the Supcase to apply the glass.
