yup just got it

Just started using it not bad at all. I just wish it was a cross between this and thumb keyboard. This one feels just a little small in split keyboard mode

The process took less then 2 minutes from registering to downloading - have it now and about to install.

Looks ok.
I think Thumb Keyboard has a lot more functionality (directional keys, readily accessible punctuations, @ symbol, parentheses, .com key with extras [.net, .org, .etc) when longpressed and all other 'tabbed' symbols just require a longpress, too.
Just MHO.

Here are some screen shots just not a big fan of the full screen text input. Would also like split me keyboard in portrait.

Yeah, they definitely need to make the keys a little bigger.

I think it works great!

Hated it, went back to stock. Takes way too much realestate in portrait, my main viewing format.
Swyped from my HTC EVO 4G running Frost 4.0 using XDA app.

You are the first person I have seen that primarily uses their tablet in portrait.

haha me too... why would you need this keyboard if you are using it in portrait? wouldn't stock work well enough? just wondering.... but the whole full screen force thing is bad, thumb keyboard does it too by default, but you can override it.

Hey I am waiting to have my account admin approved on swiftkeys site, in the mean time could someone post the APK for the keyboard!?!
Pretty plz!

patience grasshopper. they are really fast about it, shouldn't be more than a few minutes. respect developers' wishes. if they wanted it out here they would have posted it here.

Trying it out now, so far I love the look of the app and it has been working great.

It needs some work still, I was on a closed beta (which I think I can admit), and of course, now use the open beta available on the forum.
But despite the issues with sizing and the alternate keys for symbols and stuff, the predictive text is still like the number one need when typing on a tablet, and it is so much more useful than stock. I don't use split mode atm, because of the key sizes, but I'm hoping I'll like that once they get it worked out.

The common theme seems to be the small buttons are an issue. Hopefully they will make th necessary adjustments.

I'm sure they will, it was among the first comments in the closed beta. I'm using standard layout for now.
Also, nobody can deny... SwiftKey's style on the Xoom is freaking awesome.

I just installed it too...seems Much better than my last version...which strangley expired today..i wonder if that's because the new beta just came out at the same time? Anyway, I'm happy and its working great..
Thanks for the heads up. I've been using the pirated 2.15, but it will be nice to be using an official release for once so I'll know when the newest release is out.

I signed up but I am unable to download the installer, keep getting download unsuccessful. Anyone able to get it to install successfully?

This is gonna sound so obvious, and not to insult your intelligence, but have you looked in your spam folder?
I was able to download it successfully on two devices, no problem.
now that I actually try to get swype the official way its not letting me. Keeps saying "Sorry! Thus us not an android device." Anyone else getting this on cm6?

will this automatically work on the aria?
Is there any way to get the apk from this newest release? I signed up for the beta and as soon as I did, I got a POP up saying my current version of swype had expired. And I can't do it the legit way since ATT blocks installs that are separate from the market. HELP!

Difficult in what way? I think its probably the easiest soft keyboard to use. I guess if you're not used to a qwerty keyboard then it does take some time to get used to where the keys are as swyping with efficiency does require you to have the letters locations committed to memory.

Exactly, it's hard to see as you're "swype-ing". I view this as just a novelty . After a little while it gets fun lol.

That's probably the reason people view it as a novelty. It becomes second nature after a while. I've gotten to the point now where I don't even have to look for individual letters on the keyboard as I'm swyping. I just need to view the keyboard as a whole and its just burned into my memory where I need to swype to get the letters. it just takes a little time, but once your get it down its by far the fastest way to type without having an actual physical keyboard.

When in the browser: menu > more > settings > user agent > set to Android
At least, this is how it is in the browser for CyanogenMod..

SwiftKey

How does everyone use SwiftKey?
What works the best for a past blackberry user?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I896 using XDA App
What do you mean, HOW do we use SwiftKey? It's a keyboard. I push buttons on the screen to make letters appear. Don't know of any other way to use it aside from speech to text.
Sent from my Inspire 4G
What I meant was what mode works better? The precise or rapid?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I896 using XDA App
I like rapid. Never tried precise to be honest. I knew I wanted something that I can tap away fast with and it auto correct, even when I miss alot.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Rapid works better for me.
Sorry for the lame post, need a few more to get to 10.
I use precise, but that's because I've used touch keyboards for a couple of years before my captivate and got used to double tapping space for period.

Engadget

Heads up, the Engadget app now works in landscape, and is more or less Honeycomb optimized. Still has the menu button down at the bottom though.
I wish that they had just said stretched for landscape.

unfortunately it doesn't work nicely with the site's videos... but it's much more pleasant now... still, videos are deal breaker, will still access through the browser (just hope they fix the UA detection redirecting to the mobile version soon...)

New keyboard to race or rant about

To paraphrase:
SwimDrewid said:
I have used swype, swiftkey, t9, better keyboard, even that ridiculous rotary keyboard.
I am a keyboard geek (among other flavors of geek).
I gotta say, A.I. Type keyboard (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.aitype.android) is simply amazing.
It seems smarter than swiftkey and is completely customizable. (Background images, colors, layout, even keyboard type (iphone, windows 7, gingerbread among others).

My keyboard of choice right now,,,
Is TouchPal Curve. Was lucky enough to get my hands on the beta and have been loving it every since.
Gonna give the one you mentioned a try, never know if its better for me till I check it out.
Twas not lucky enough roger the curve invite. But widget t9 AND swype for free from amazon. (Free is my favorite color :-D)

I like this new keyboard! I'm not a fan of the swyping technology even though I have touchpal curve.
This keyboard's service runs 22 MB though! Don't know if that's normal but that seems like it may drain battery.

After reading various reviews about this keyboard, i've decided to stay away from it. Some users have reported huge battery drains. Aside from this, it appears that every keystroke is uploaded to the developer's cloud server, with no explanation given. Sounds like a keylogger to me.

I also was able to get a beta copy of this TouchPal keyboard, but for some reason it conflicted with my hardware keyboard by disabling my shift and "secodary yellow" button :\ and since I'm a big keyboard user, that was my only reason to uninstall that keyboard. I'll admit, it seems better than swype, but again, I use my hardware keyboard 75% of the time n I kinda can't live without my shift and yellow keys

[Q]Google Voice Typing Location

I am on HTC Vivid. I tried updating to ICS to only realize that it failed. I see the new keyboard for ICS the Google Voice Typing. Does anyone know where that is installed on the device of ICS so i can try to pull it off and use it on my Vivid. would be excellent.
Thank you

Also, realize you want the google keyboard but swype also offers a beta that has a voice option. Just google swype beta and it will pop up.
Swype is a decent app but I ended up going back to the stock keyboard as it is more functional..some prefer swype I guess..

I have bigger fingers so it makes it hard for me to tap away at the keyboard. I am much faster swyping.
I have big hands also and the dang space bar is the most frustrating thing on the keyboard...always hitting the period instead of space bar...it needs to be wider..

I agree. The keyboard on the Inspire was perfect...and it was .2 inches smaller of a screen and included a directional arrows.
And to answer the original question most of what the OP is asking about I would think would be in HTC_IME.apk
