[THEMED CM7] Corwin's Tweaked CM7 Beta 4 (Updated 4/5) - G Tablet Themes and Apps

This is my custom compile of the CM7 git hub. Please understand I am a server engineer not a programmer, so the features are going to be very close to what you would get from CM7. The only major changes here are the boot screen and some backgrounds. The other people working on CM7 do not always have the time to work on the code and compile the latest updates into a rom for release and we do not get CM7 nightly files like you would see for an EVO. When I see that something major has been committed to the git I will update my side and produce a new revision. I am also taking a crash course on editing the apk's and xml files to really customize the heck out of the rom, but im new at this and I have a full time job, wife, a kid, and cats
I have now baked a new boot screen, worked in the latest framework changes from TeamDesire and the latest beta version of gojimi's VT Launcher and a few framework and buildprop changes of my own.
Just like any other dev out there I take no responsibility for your tablet and if you screw anything up please do a NVRAM restore to back out to factory again.
Please make sure you download GAPPS just like any other cyanogen based rom
Below are the links and a simple change log to the various builds I am putting together...
****Beta 1 032411****
Market seems to be working
Cam working
Wifi working
****Beta 2 033011****
Buildprop changes
Boot screen changes
****Beta 3 040111****
New default background - my first time editing the framework thanks to supermiah
Removed a few things we dont need like the voice dialer
****Beta 4 040511****
New default background - my first time editing the framework thanks to supermiah

Oh yeah bring on the cm7. Excited to give her a run.
Sent from my HTC Vision sportin CM7 RC2. SMOKIN!!!

Word! Can wait to give her a run through.

Sweet. I'm living on AOSP Gingerbread currently but really miss some of the CM customizations I have on my phone, like 270 deg rotation which is essential to these tabs to mitigate the viewing angles of the screen.

Running in to a few more issues than I thought, it is running stable at the moment but there are issues that will mean a recompile so the changes are baked in and not just scripted. I had hoped to get the rom posted today, but i want to throughly test it out prior to upload.

Looking forward to this. Been running Drod2169's unofficial CM7 RC2 from a few weeks ago and its been going strong. Can't wait for a newer CM rom to try.

х2 Looking forward.We will wait.

Have you taken all the phone references out of it so it looks like a true tab rom ?

That's one of Tue things I'm doing...but there are also so issues with the build that I'm trying to figure out. I may upload the beta I'm running right now bit its far from complete.
Swyped from a CM7 EVO using the Xda app

Sounds good looking forward to trying it

I have been running this all day with no probems. Market has not failed once. Now i just need a fix for the gsensor so all my games will work.

Odd sensor seems fine on the games ive tried....what game are you seeing the issue with?

Poss more screen shots.
Just wondering if we could possibly get some more screenies. Wondering if this rom also has Soft Buttons in upper right corner. Also previous mentioned about G sensor fix. If g sensor is not working correctly possibly does this me that this rom has mouse cursor support. You would be my hero if it does. Will be trying out anyway tomorrow. Just hoping to get some insight before hand. Thanks for the rom, and your work so far.

Sensors seem to be working and have not been able to replicate the issue reported so far. This ROM does have mouse/keyboard/wan for usb adapter. These are all features of CM7 , please keep in mind im only compiling their code from the opensource hub and then tweaking it a bit here and there. The actual features are from the hardworking Cyanogen team.

I've not been able to get Homerun to run on any ROM i've tried. TNTl, Vegan (5.1 or Ginger).

I got CM7 on my Droid and have the latest #31 installed and love it. I'm so glad we finally have CM7 to try on our tablets. My droid has quadrant scrore of 1150, so i hope this rom makes the g tablet fast. Will be trying soon.

I loaded this up late last night and have been really imprsesed so far. Only issue is that I needed to use an earlier version of gapps as the 0307 did not seem to install anything.
Screen rotation works in all orientations which is a big deal for me because of the case/stand I use and to get better viewing angles.
Awesome work, this thing flies.
EDIT: I should also mention that this is the only ROM I have ever seen actually use wifi for location. Awesome.

Bluetooth mouse
I like the rom. Bluetooth keyboard works great! The ms5000 Bluetooth mouse works but has no cursor, just moves sound the screen highlighting objects.

Thanks - changed description to "Themed dialer" instead of "Hero dialer".
great job!!
Nice!
Thanks Plemen. Nice, clean setup. Its great to go back to native res for a bit.
I like the theme, especially the app slider. I do have two suggestions though. One is doing something to blend the different color box around the time better, it looks like an awkward block. Then also, change the color of the date on the top when you pull down the notification shade. Its currently black on black.

Good suggestions - both are high on the list. I almost didn't release because of the clock but I wanted to have a native Res donut with themed dialer out there... I should have an update in a few days.
plemen, I added your ROM to my theme thread. 3rd post will be the running list. Hope we can keep them coming. I can help you with the notification text color if you want. Or you can grab the services.jar from mine which is already hex edited for white text.
what should my lcd density be set to?
Edit: also, in spare parts when I set the end keys function to"home then sleep" it doesn't work. anyway to fix that?
DOUBLE Edit: turns out it does work, just takes a whole 7 seconds to do so.

lcd.density=120 works well. To be honest I've left this out while testing and the default looks pretty good too.
The new button mapping is long-hold camera to return home. Leave the end key at default.
thanks for the help.

The time looks a lot better now. I really like this build, its my new everyday one. The one complaint I still have is the date is impossible to read when the notification shade is pulled down.
EDIT: attempting now to make it work with mssmision's method.

Fixed the date - keep the input coming.
I was using mssmision's method for a while - had some mysterious reboots using that and will have to test more - now I'm back to sqsh. If anyone is interested in an .ext2 file let me know. You can use ext2 instead of the sqsh if you want to modify any system files while the phone is live.
plemen, this is awesome... works great with mssmison's new partitioning technique, runs fast, looks fantastic. Great work on this build. It's not my everyday build... till Bell gets the Samsung Galaxy next month

Is the new download with the fixed date compatible with the mssmision method? I want to use that and yours. Have had no restarts and it definitely runs faster.
Everything is running solid using the 200mb ext2 partition method. It's been awhile since I've messed with anything android but this is great. Thanks a lot.

Gave this a quick run. Didnt flash Gapps. Seemed pretty nice as a stock replacement. 2.3.4 is a nice touch. Looking forward to see what you have in store...but im so used to CM7 that its hard to not be able to control more settings from within the ROM.
so what's the main differentiation between this, CM&, and other AOSP-based gingerbread roms like OMGB/OMFGB?
its hard to download
could u send another link?
This is running very well. I am using Conaps Dual Boot tool and this is now one of my four ROMs. I used the overclock setting to bump the speed up one notch and I got nearly 1900 on my Quadrant score.

Thanks for this. I have been trying the various Gingersense ROMs and it is good to get a ROM where everything just works. I guess I prefer functionality first and eye candy second.
This will be the first GB ROM I try. Seems nice and straight forward.
By the way, would the EVO camera apk work with this? Everything works well so far. Just not loving the stock camera. I like the EVO camera i had running on my Incredible.
Forgot to ask...but does 720p recording work? I may try and flash tomorrow again for further testing...but if someone can provide an answer I will probably just run it.
So far this is really cool. I'll put it through the ropes at work. One thing I have noticed so far is the trackball wake. It works intermittently.
Works as follows.
When plugged in (charging) trackball wake works. I can unplug and it still will wake.
BUT once I unlock the slider trackball wake doesn't work until I plug the phone back in, in which the exact same process is replicated.
Not a big deal to me, but I wanted to report it.
Any idea where speed dial is?
As far as I know there is no speed dial for AOSP. Use a dialer like DialerOne for that functionality.
And can either one of you please let me know if 720p works? I heard it wasnt possible.
This applied to all GB AOSP for the time being:

So I installed a Go Launcher theme and didn't like it. When I removed the theme it kept the wallpaper. No biggy.
I went to change it under wallpaper and had Nexus Wallpaper options which gave me the nifty little lines moving etc. Now I can't find that option anymore.
Any suggestions? All I am left with is gallery or the usual stock options. Not the wallpaper that loaded when I installed the ROM.
Thanks.
Do you have any screen shots available?
I had the additional Nexus Option. If it helps, I recall one background was CyanogenMod then maybe 5 others colors. I could also choose the animation.
These are currently the options I see.

FWIW this is very stable. It's the only GB ROM I have tried and I chose it because the install didn;t involve multiple cache clears etc. It seemed very straight forward. The trackball wake doesn't always work. It always works when plugged in, but when running on battery I have to hold it down or sometimes click multiple times.
A couple times the Notification power widgets go away. I got them back by rebooting. If there's an easier way let me know. Zero issues with SMS. Zero issues with Touchdown activesynch email. Zero issues making receiving calls. Bluetooth is fine. Rhapsody works.
I don't use 720p video so no big deal there for the moment. I work in field sales. I use my phone ALL DAY. If there's anything you want me to test let me know.
^^^
+1
I have tried most of the Gingerbread/Gingersense ROMs and this ROM has the most "stock" functionality. I like that I can play my MP3s from the phone storage; most of the others haven't figured that out yet.
So I flashed this last night and im still testing it...but as far as AOSP goes I lilke it alot.
It seems like it has similar CM7 tweaks but is faster overall...
Camera is quicker...which is a plus. Not sure if I love the gingerbread launcher...its a little slow when I open app drawer and I would prefer a non 3D app draw to get some extra speed back.
Nice ROM. Lets see if it stands the test of time

[ICS] CM9 Photon alpha13 build for Atrix - Test build 8 (15/01/2012)

Important notice: I will no longer be maintaining this build.
I will put my effort in jokersax11 roms since it will be an original Atrix build (so better than a port).
jokersax11 CM9 thread

The goal was to provide the Atrix community with a taste of ICS (goal I think I manage to accomplished), for time reason I will put my effort on helping the great Joker since is progress in it's Atrix CM9 build have now equal (or surpass) the work of the best port I could do.
Thanks to all of you for your kind word and cheering, I will make sure that our beloved Atrix get the best he deserve.

First of all I would like to thanks the Atrix Dev Team, wrldsuksgo2mars, jokersax11 and the Photon dev team. Without them this build would have never seen the light.
I've compile the Photon ICS CM9 alpha13 for the Atrix.
I will maintain this build updated with the latest change the Photon dev team (jokersax11) are making and try to correct bug releated to the Atrix.

Gallery show a littlle graphic wiggle when changing screens due to the lack of Hardware Acceleration.
The wifi does not work after the initial install, trigger the activation and reboot the phone, after that you will have no more problem.
The Softkey light turn on after few minutes of use.
Media scan not happening on boot.
When the battery is full charged, the battery icon on the notification bar disappears. Because of this, it has another amazing function, it shows how much percent you have overcharged (thanks to alistair3149)
Wallpaper is unscrollable in Trebuchet, use Nova launcher to use this function. It's a bug with the launcher (thanks to wywerny)
Getting a random offset number during installation, due to a bug in the installation script (no to worry the install is completed when the offset happens). (thanks to munchkers13)

No the fingerprint sensor don't work, but I will look into it. Since the new major feature of ICS is Facelock I'm currently working on making the camera driver to work (it's currently taking all the time I got for dev right now).

It's currently a bug I've found out, after the initial install the wifi do not trigger, trigger the activation and reboot the phone, then you will have no more problem.
I will fix this in the next release, in the meantime rebooting the phone after the initial install correct the problem.

[ROM(attemtp)][CM10/MIUI]CM1+MIUI+PHONEmode mashup[so far failed builds]

Hi,
INTRO
I run MIUI on my phone and have since i discovered it. I am really fond of the EOL GB MIUI builds. I think the interface is great. Clean and smooth.
Searching around the web I came across [ROM][ICS] MIUI for Galaxy Tab 10.1 - P75xx - 20120825, I had previously seen a post on [GUIDE] How to port MIUI v4 to your Device
I really like the idea of using Button Savior or similar, combined with the miui style notification toggles.
Mockups from my phone;

I have already tried CM7/9/10 on my Defy, along with other roms, and already had a go at CM10 on my GN10. Well, that gives me the thought, I might try to build up a rom for GN10
ATTEMPT
So I grabed the unofficial CM10 from here on xda, maguro MIUI-2.8.31 (Galaxy Nexus GSM JB) from miuiandroid.com and the build script mentioned above.
After reading the build script for the ICS MIUI for the GT10 and the GUIDE (both above) I didnt hold high hopes, but I had a go.
The script, of course fails, but builds a rom that gets to the bootspash, and I had a manual go at building my mashing the two together and never got past the samsung boot logo.
I ran logcat over adb while booting and it gets stuck due to something to do with the audio and probably many other reasons.
REASONS
The reason why I think this is a good Idea;
I am not keen on the Android tablet style notfication/nav bar, esp since there is no nice way to auto hide it. The MIUI style phone notification bar can be exposed even when there is a full screen app by swiping down from the top.
I really like the no apps drawer way that mihome works. New apps appear right there, and can be uninstalled in the same way shortcuts are removed in most other launchers, by dragging to the top. The MIUI implementation seems much nicer than on iphone. ( I understand that MiHome does not do landscape and even if this mashup workes on our GN10 devices I will still prob use nova launcher to get rotating home). I am not saying MiHome is perfect by any means. It has no way of making customized app shortcuts without 3rd party app and then they seem to be pretty flakey at actually displaying the shortcut on the launcher. For making url shortcuts ShortcutLink works very well.
The toggles in MIUI are great, and when there is more than fit on the screen they can be swiped left and right to reveal more. The MIUI GB notfications area is super clean, With the ES mod (swipe away like ICS/JB) why do we need to be told a notification is ongoing, if you can't swipe it away it is ongoing. Also the MIUI toggles jump directly to the settings when long pressed and toggle when clicked, this is top functionality.
Now, I am not specifically wanting actual miui, but I know of no other way to get something so similar and get the same functionality.
PROBLEM
The problem I have is my lack of abiltiy/knowlege in programing. I did sucessfully install the Android envoironment and eclipse on both my linux (crunchban/debiantesting x64) box at the office and my Win7x64 box at home, but as far as actually knowing what I am doing, I could barely manage to complete some of the basic howto's that are basically copy/paste due to the ide changing slightly from the tutorials. :crying:
I am quite proficient at linux and writing bash scripts etc, have a bit of php/database understanding etc, but it is not enough.
I also understand that CM10 is pretty bleeding edge on our devices and doesnt really provide a stable base yet, but it is pretty good and I am sure will get enough love to become rock solid/everything working in the not too distant future due to the great work by the dev's
SOLUTION
Due to my lack of programing skills the only way I think that this ROM/project/idea can move forward is for a dev to be fond of the idea, and/or enough people to like the idea that a deve thinks it is worthwile.
I can only sweeten such an idea with assistance in providing multi GB of webspace (with php/mysql/pgsql/tomcat/whatever), multi TB of download data, email services. I can provide only moderate ammounds of donated funds. I am sure that I can manage doco and support assistance.
END
Well, I am not sure anyone would like my idea, I am very open to comments and thoughts in the matter. Please refrain from flame wars on particular platforms or rom styles. It is more taking the best ideas from all places and implementing them into something great.
Thanks for reading.
RESERVED, in case some action actually happens
very glad to see some dev attempts. I dont know much about your chanses to pull this of. But i wish you the best of luck. Welcome
Ok, after searching around and trying this out I have not really made any progress. I think one way of getting a more phone style UI on my GNote10 is to have a go at actually compiling
PARANOID android, as there is some nice instructions over at this thread, and progress is happining on the GTab10.1, so there is already work on a comparable screen to leverage off of.
At lease this will get me into setting up a decent environment and see how it goes, my pc is plenty fast enough, just need to chuck another drive in and ubuntu as per the guide, which is no trouble.
Well, anyways, thanks for looking.
There is a PA release for the Note 10.1. But you have probably already seen that.

Attention
Always do a backup before flashing, responsibility lies with the operator of the device ultimately
General Features
- MIUI Apps
- MIUI framework themes
- This is like an 'Open' MIUI, hard to describe.
Known Annoyances
- LED function key lights don't turn on, broken is a strong word, some circles would call it a feature rofl ;l
Instructions
Do a full wipe and install via the usual method in CWM or touch recovery, whichever you use
Download

Big thanks to
Specifically every person here that does work on the Exhibit, from developing to just making constructive posts!
Especially Camcory, and all the source builders!
Misc Notes
Rom is pretty much finished; I modified the MIUI auto-porter for general use; assuming I did correct edits this should make maintaining all my ICS and JB projects somewhat easier.
...and will reduce the likelihood that I make a sloppy mistake with prep work.
Please leave feedback!
Wow. o.o Cool ROM.
LED keyboard lights will probably be forever broke on this release until we get a BLN kernel, but I don't know enough about it to build one as of right now.
we wont ever get a bln kernel just fyi

Yeouch, hahaha
the led lights turn on when you press the brightness in the toggles..
its somewhat similar to one of the custom roms you made.. i think it was MIUI GB if i;m not mistaken..
hehe just saying what i observed.
but really cool rom though.. hehe.
Oh snap looks amazing! Can't wait to try this, thanks!
I'm going to try different bases to try to resolve the lights issue but I will be uploading a more 'polished' version of this rom momentarily, the lights issue in this build is related to the kernel and this phone is probably not going to get a BLN kernel ever so I must explore other avenues, but for now the rom is excellent in style feel and speed so the lack of LED lights isn't a huge deal
Bump, LED Lights are broken but I've optimized this rom and added all missing things, outside of lights this is now stable
Well i'm trying out this ROM since it has some aspects of MIUI... so far I love how fast and smooth it is. I do miss some of the features of MIUI.. like mixing Themes.. (love the IOS Chat, IFEEL lockscreen, etc..)
I do love that I can do the status bar brightness slide, and the expandable notifications... I do miss the apps all being listed on the home screens... and on this ROM I can't find out to delete the unused screens... i'm curious to see how the battery life is on this ROM.
Thank you for all the hard work.
** UPDATE **
I wasn't able to download anything from the PlayStore (Including updates) (got an error code)
I also wasn't able to access the External SD Card with the file explorer... showed SD 0
Do a proper wipe and re-flash; sometimes during the flash for any rom rarely USB mounting will not work; I don't know what causes this but this rom USB mounts for me fine.. I can DL playstore stuff fine too.
Also in 'Themes' there are multiple iOS themes lol

Thank you! and do I need to do the Stock Flash first to get the GPS to work? or can I just do the clean install like the OP says?

I was testing new versions of this and did encounter the exact bug you're talking about; I have no idea what causes it but when I reflashed AvatarRom after wiping it, USB mounting was working fine.
GPS is working fine out of the box, this doesn't use Baidu like MIUI for location services

I reflashed and I am able to download from the Play Store.. guess it was just a fluke when I first flashed this ROM.
Regarding USB mounting - I believe it was mounted fine the first time, but I wasn't sure how to find it using the stock file explorer you have on this.. so I downloaded ES explorer, and was able to see my external card.. so that works perfectly.
I look forward to testing this more and letting you know. Thank you for all your hard work and quick responses. I do love how fast and smooth this runs! I just hope the battery is good.. then i'll be very happy!
I did see that the texting bubbles are yellow ?! LOL
Are you able to lock the pull down on the lockscreen like it is on MIUI?

I agree!
My assessment is:
PROS:
Smooth and Fast
Cobalt Blue Theme is awesome
Status Bar Brightness Control
Lockscreen is responsive and smoothe
So far everything functions properly
Love the App open and close graphic
Awesome Boot Animation
Toggle Buttons / customizable.
Lots of Ringtones / Notification sounds
Google Now works great
CONS:
Lockscreen is not truly locked - can still access the drop down notification bar
Themes are not mixable
Battery life - I put a fresh battery in at 10pm - at 6am it was already down to 89%.. by 8:00am after some use it was 81%
Unable to remove unused homescreens
Slightly longer boot time.
Odd yellow / green color scheme for text messages
Overall this is a great ROM! Thank you ! :good:
