Can't update my HTC?

HI I m still a noob in this sh*t.
I can't seem to do updates to my HTC kaiser.
The reason I wanna do that is because I can't install the tomtom that comes with the application cd because my phone tells me that I need to do the updates.
I have an htc orange but I live in Canada so it's unlocked.
ROM version: 3.03.405.0WWE
Date: 01/08/08
Radio version 1.64.06.04
Any help would be very apreciative.

If you want to be more knowledgeable its always good to take a look at the wiki.
As for updates, could you be more specific please? Do you mean a ROM update or a software update? Perhaps posting exactly what the message says would help.

When I go to install the Installer_Kaiser_ttn_6_032_8351_HTC_WWE_20070716:
On the computer instalation goes normally
Then the pc tells me that I need to chek for additional... on phone
On the phone it says here is the message: Unable to install application. Please update your device ROM to the required version before trying again.
When I go to the HTC website I try to update and I can't do it because when I put my serial code it tells me that my phone is not compatible
Now Ive made some search and found a post saying that ORANGE kaiser can't get the updates for reasons to hi-tech for me to understand. And that if yo actually do it via some type of hack your phone will be locked wish I don t want to happen.
Please help the only reason I bought this phone is for the GPS

All HTC phones are sold with a specific rom for that phone or for that phone's carrier. Your phone is locked to that rom. It is HTC and your carriers way of controlling what rom you flash to your phone. Presumingly to stop people from screwing up their phones by flashing incompatible roms, and then looking to HTC for a new phone.
If you have an Orange phone, then you can only flash roms approved by Orange and the one you are trying to use is apparently not approved. Unlocked, only means that it is sim unlocked, not CID unlocked.
Were you originally trying to update a program or a rom ?

The question is there. What CD? Did it come with the phone or was it bought separately? What Tomtom version? What exactly does it say when it tells you to "do the updates"? Is it Tomtom saying that, or whatever else?
In other words, what exactly do you have at hand now, what are you trying to do and what is the problem encountered?
It will be hard to help you if we can't understand the situation.

When I got my phone wish I bought from europe over the net, it didn t come with the application cd. I wanted to install tomtom on it and because I didn t have the cd then I couldn't do it.
I searched xda-developers site and I found a link to the application cd contents.
I got the folling:

Now whenever I try to install any of those the instalation goes perfectly on the PC ( same way when I install anyother program on my PPC) then I get to the part where the PC tells me:
Please chek your mobile device screen to see if additional steps are necessary to complete instalation.
And on my PPC I see: Unable to install application. Please update your device ROM to the required version before trying again.
When I go to HTC website for updates, I enter my serial and it tells me:
can t update because my phone is not compatible

You have to unlock the CID and flash a HardSPL if you are going to install a non-orange ROM. (Yes, this rule applies even if you are going to flash the HTC OEM ROM)

I m goin to do CID-unlock but will that affect my SIM unlock

No. Once your SIM is unlocked, it remains that way.

Is it normal that when I flashed the new rom it says that I m using 61% of the memory from the start. Insted of the usual 30% for the regular wm6 rom

[Q] Help Needed: how to update rom.

Hi, just bought HTC HD7 in HK, unlocked.
I am trying to update ROM (prefered Europe one, but tryed also Asia, founf in this forum "signed"). I am getting an Error 260 (CONNECTION) telling me to check if PDA is connected to cradle and cradle to Phone...
HTC Windows Vista Italian Version, Zune installed and run correctly (sync done). Phone is collected to zune and charging.
Any advice?

have u seen anyone updated there ROM here yet, NO...
there are no ROM updates or upgrades yet... there are group of ppl trying to load WP7 on HD2...
i dont think u can change to european languages yet... not until HTC comes out with a ROM upgrade...

Nut there are room released indeed (check windows phone 7 development forum) and problem is my pc simple cannot see phone when updating...
Both my pcs, and also connecting after booting phone with on + photo button on...

Ok, I did it, or at least I updated rom: powering on the phone pushing volume - takes to boot mode, and then I was able to flash with new ASIA rom, but not with new Euro rom: in this case i get an error 294 invalid vendor...
I suppose it needs the phone to be unlocked and this has not be done (yet ) but my question is... Why un unlocked asian phone is locked against euro roms? HTC should let customers free to change the language of the phone....

It doesnt have anything to do with being unlocked or not.
Its because of the SPL. you will need Hard SPL to be able to flash ROMs from another region, otherwise, you can't.
There is no HSPL for HD7 yet, and the bad news is, no one seems to be working on it

[Q] Help: How to Revert to Stock WP6.5?

Hey guys,
I've searched everywhere but there's no definitive guide to revert to stock from WP7. Pretty much, I tried out WP7 on my dad's HD2, but he didn't like it. So I need to revert it, but there's so much stuff to know that it all gets pretty intimidating.
Anyways,
HTC HD2 w/ Windows Phone 7 (Using aMAGLDR V1.12 - Build: Jan 12 2001, 21:09:22 - by Cotulla 2011 [this ONLY, no other mods present])
Trying to convert back to Windows Phone 6.5
Using Windows XP
Have d/led Windows Active Sync but it won't connect to the PC even when the USB is plugged in. (I'm guessing this is the reason why I can't revert to stock, it won't even connect to the PC)
I've also d/led the latest stock RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_3.14.531.1_Radio_Signed_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_2_Ship from the forums.
It looks like I have all the resources but my PC won't even recognize the phone being connected to the computer. Must I do anything else besides attempting to flash the stock ROM?

It might be you don't have the drivers installed that are needed, your antivirus could be preventing a connection, I had a similar problem where it seemed that it didn't recognize my phone uninstalled sync when into my bootloader it didn't seem to recognize my phone tasked 29 and it went through without a problem

PLEASE someone help me out, this is getting soo frustrating, I switched to my laptop running Vista and it still won't recognize it.
I d/led Windows Mobile Device Center and it STILL won't work.

Enter the bootloader screen then plug phone in and wait for it to say USB at the bottom then flash the stock rom from t-mobile

i was able to flash winmo through sd card but 10 different pcs wont see this phone now, from win xp to vista, win 7, mac !
phone works fine in winmo but cant connect, obviously cant flash hspl3 so im stuck on stock winmo, with both spls 2.8 and 2.10 and none of them makes a different
i'll bookmark this and keep following up and if i figure it out i'll update

I have same problem i install 2.2 android on my HTC hd2 (t-mobile) and now i can't sync my phone with computer to install stock LEO as well as there is no option on the 2.2 froyo for sd card if any one know how to get back to stock windows 6.5 let me know

Invalid IMEI???
So I went to this link because I want to flash my HD2 back to WM6.5 stock. When I enter the IMEI it tells me that it is invalid. Is there a way to get the stock rom from some other site?
I have a HTC HD2 T-Mobile LEO 1024. Model HTC Desire A8181.

Yes I do I have a Model HTC Desire A8181. It still says HTC HD2, but it says Desire on the phone data screen.

lol, and teh tmo website wont accept your imei, odd that. get the rom from HERE instead.

It has SOFTWARE: OS :5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87), Manila version:2.5.20121412.1
ROM Version :2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE
I am planning to upgrade the ROM to 3.14.531.1.
I read at forum that Post upgrade, my HD2 will default to factory settings. Does it mean that my phone will again be locked to T-mobile?
Pl confirm asap as I don't want a locked phone

Ok dude this makes a lot of sense, but which one should I download? Are those version numbers or radio IDs? I don't want to brick my HD2.

those are rom version numbers. go for either 2.10.0 (not .1) or 2.13, or either of the 3.14

dude u have 2 download zune center if u got the wp7 rom thats how u sync the phone

Yes there is a way go to htcpedia.com register with them make your ocunt..and download htc hd2 stuck rom..then put your phone and bootlouder mode..and put the stuck rom you just download..makesure your phone is conecte it at least 50 % of batery no sim car no sd car.

[Q] Cant flash stock, phone stuck in ruu....please help!

Hello, im having issues with my HD7. I just recieved a replacement phone from t-mobile and it was really buggy and freezing so i decided to try to reflash the stock firmware. I have tried both versions that are available for the HD7 for T-Mobile and the phone goes through the process in ruu but hangs at 11%. Doesnt go any further and eventually times out with an error 262. I have also tried to flash with rspl but no luck as well. I can not wipe the phone or do anything on it as it is stuck in bootloader. Can anyone please help me to install the stock firmware back to my HD7......any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you hook it up with zune first to make sue all the drivers were installed prorperly?

Thanks for your quick reply tfn, but unfortunately i do have the current drivers installed on my pc. The really strange thing i just found out is that it will let me flash a non stock rom, like dft's mango but will not allow me to go past 11% on the stock rom. I dont know, im on tmobile's prepaid and this phone has a warranty, i just hate that i cant get this new "refurb" to work that i just got in from t-mobile. It frustrates me so much, cuz i loved wp7 on my HD2 but im having nothing but bad luck with these HD7's :'(

[Q] AT&T HD7 update issues

I have an AT&T branded HD7 (it says HTC T9295 in Zune) which I'm trying to update. I think the phone was originally a pre-release handset and the OS version is 7.0.7348. I can copy and paste so perhaps this is pre-NoDo build? Anyway, trying to update to NoDo and beyond - the phone plus Zune is telling me that an update (7392) is available. Zune is allowing me to get right to the last step of the update process before giving me a 80180048 error. I've tried the Windows Phone Support tool but get "The tool cannot recover this phone. Please contact technical support." Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you could 'start from scratch' and just flash the stock Shipped ROM...
the stock Shipped ROM is already NoDo. Shipped ROM link in my signature.
