[RECOVERY] ClockworkMod (use Rom Manager now) - Optimus One, P500 Android Development

ClockworkMod recovery for LG P500.
Avalaible via Rom manager now.
How to flash:
1. Install ROM Manager from market
2. Get root in some way.
3. Flash recovery via ROM Manager
Zip package with amonra recovery attached (if anyone want to back to amonra).
Why ClockworkMod?
+ it is nicer
+ it is clockworkmod
+ format partitions
+ normal support for backup/restore
- don't support for Amend scripts
- don't support Link2SD
Ext partition fs: ext4.
Don't compatible with backups created in AmonRa.
About Amend scripts:
To give you back history, there are currently two ways to create "update.zip" scripts. The first one is "update-script", also known as Amend. It was the first version of the scripting language created by Google, and was used in Android 1.0 and Cupcake (1.5). However, Amend has two serious design flaws:
Function arguments can not span more than 1 word.
The scripting language is compiled into the recovery causing image bloat and inflexibility.
Because of this reason Google REMOVED Amend support in Donut (Android 1.6) and beyond, and instead switched to update-binary and updater-script, which is also known as Edify.
This means that you can't falsh some zips. If you like this recovery ask zip authors to update his packages.
Modders: Please switch to using Edify.

Hi mik, thanks for all your work!! Can we use rom manager with this recovery and your CyanogenMod port?
EDIT: link doesn't work

Hi Mik,
Could you please attach zip file?
Can't download it from the link you gave. It redirects me to some site I can't download.

Same here. Seems to be a MediaFire problem.

Some time ago I asked Koush but didn't get reply about adding support our device in ROMManager so I don't tested recovery with it.
Reuploaded here.

In your expert opinion, what advantages does it offer over drelisdee recovery?

I don't used AmonRa too much (compiled CWM at first day after buying phone ) so I can say only:
+ it is nicer
+ it is clockworkmod
+ format partitions
+ normal support for backup/restore
- support for Amend scripts

Out of things you point out, by one you mean ability to format different partitions e.g. we can format ext partition only?
Secondly, will it restore previous Nand backups correctly ?
And what do you mean by amend scripts? Sorry I am not an IT Guy.
And what exactly is clockworkmod?

So..just to get it right ( and avoid bricking my phone )...to install the above CWM, I boot into my current amonra recovery (1.1) and flash this zip which will replace amonra with cwm ?
thanks in advance...

If we want to revert back to the old one, will we have to follow the same procedure that we followed while installing original amonRa?

Can i flash LOLv1.2 with this recovery ??

I don't think you can flash them.. this was an issue i faced when flashing themes created from UOT they needed the update-binary and i was using megatron at that time which didn't have.. so i couldn't even do the workaround until uot gave the option to cook it for such roms in their v4.0
So as far as i ve seen neither of noejn's rom have the update-binary so beware before you flash cwm btw mik nice work.. works like a charm

[APP] Flash Image GUI - Easily flash kernels and recoveries!

Credits:
birbeck for the usual random java guidance, slushpupie for his previous java guidance, dodgejcr for extreme amounts of testing, and one_love_420 and shift for some great graphics!
testers: JT-, couga6442, happytweak and many others I might have forgot in the furry of three days I built the initial app from scratch!
Thanks to SDX !!
Background:
flash_image is an extremely useful utility for flashing custom kernels and recoveries. This binary has made it possible to easily flash all these items and is used almost everywhere behind the scenes (i.e. in custom recoveries, packaged into kernel /sbin, etc).
Description:
This Android App is a GUI interface for the linux binary, flash_image, provided by google in AOSP for loading custom kernels and recovery images onto the phone.
This app allows the flashing of kernels and recovery images in normal android mode.
No recovery or adb needed!
Nexus S (4G) support includes flashing of anykernel type .zip files, boot.img type .zip files and recovery.img flashing!
Open to any feedback/issues, please post!
Easily Flash Teamwin Recovery:
Download latest Teamwin Recovery
Current Support:
Full Kernel, Logo and Recovery flashing: Samsung Moment, Transform, Intercept and Acclaim - the s3c6410 series of devices
Full Kernel (Anykernel and boot.img) Flashing and Recovery (zip file or image) flashing: Nexus S/Nexus S 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO, & LG Optimus
Full Kernel (zImage) Flashing: Samsung Epic
Full Recovery Flashing: LG P500 (Optimus One) & HTC Shift (need testers for kernel flashing)
Check application version for updates
Future Support:
Looking for feedback regarding making the app more user friendly or simpler to use for the Nexus S (4G). Thanks!
Install Directions:
Install process is the same as any other .apk. Download directly to your phone by using the link below from your browser (most ROM/browsers support direct .apk download). Or download to computer and adb push or mount sdcard on computer and copy over. And/Or use any file manager, adb, connectbot/terminal emulator to install.
My preferred method, maybe a bit technical: adb install c:\downloads\FlashImageGUI.apk
Download Locations
Market (99 cents!): Flash Image GUI
Release versions (free from my personal hosting): Flash Image GUI
Contact:
Any questions, comments, concerns, or issues, please post in this thread or send me an email! Thanks for all the help and support!
FAQ:
Q: Will this app support a marketplace to pick and chose kernels from?
A: No, use Kernel Manager for a market interface.

You shouldn't download it on the phone and just install like any other apk? All we need now is an app or recovery file that can unlock a brand new ns4g and we have an easy and lazy way of getting the phone up to speed.

Good question. I did have the phrase, "download directly to the phone" in my OP but it wasn't very clear or prominent so I rephrased and change its position.
Thanks for the support! Hope this is working well for all!
Updated app to support the Nexus S along with the Nexus S 4G
Also, added link to OP to download the Teamwin Recovery. Very easy to flash the custom recovery with this app!
Wow, just wow....team win is on fire!

edit: So I downed the teamwin recovery and flashed it with the app, works just fine. This is really good stuff guys, thanx for doing this!
Only thing I might add if I had the super powers you guys have is the option to use my own file explorer to find the img I want to flash. The one in the app works fine but I am just plain old hard to please I suppose...
anyways, I just have this to say: teamwin for the WIN!
Tried this out and when I go to boot into recovery it takes me to the android guy with bootloader, reboot, recovery, and power off on the left. At the top it says no recovery img and when I click recovery it takes me to the google screen, then immediately back to that screen. Obviously this means it didn't flash the recovery img. What went wrong?

[RECOVERY] TeamWin Recovery Project (twrp) 2.2.0.1 [15-08-2012]

Team Win Recovery Project 2.1, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. We started from the ground up by taking AOSP recovery and loading it with the standard recovery options, then added a lot of our own features. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
I don't own any LG phone,so my support will be limited, but you can ask Great_Day for more as he's my tester.

This project has been discontinued. Any dev please feel free to take over the project.
Hey guys, i present to you a new updated version of CyanogenMod Recovery a.k.a CWM 6.0.1.4. The current version that we use is 5.0.2.6
The new permanent build is up. Its no-more a WIP.
But still please test and report back.
Edit : The bricked ace is causing a lot of problems. I cannot test the recoveries. If possible please consider donating so that i can get it repaired.
Donation link below my profile picture.
Declaration :
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]You are using this at your own risk. I am not responsible for any bricks or thermonuclear wars.[/COLOR]
Permanent version : CWM 6.0.1.4
How to flash :
Download the zip and put it in the sdcard.
Reboot to recovery and flash the zip.
Reboot to system. (This system is very important as it links all recovery files to the system.)
Now reboot to recovery and enjoy.
PS : The backups created by this CWM are indeed very small in size. Its a new feature. Don't come running to me asking why it happens. Read below about how it works.
Changelog of CWM 6 :
As said by Koush himself -
Changes:
New backup format that deduplicates data between backups.
Faster backups.
Fixed restores > 2GB.
Minor UI tweaks (new background, animated Android)
Create Android Update Zips on device : Using this new feature, anyone can create an update.zip package of their currently installed ROM for others to use.
Future:
In the past, I have merged/rebased every CWM with AOSP. With Jellybean, I have decided this is no longer in the best interest of the project. There are only a few areas of AOSP recovery that are of interest (roots.c - file system, minui, and updater). Those will continue to be merged into CWM. Other than that, doing a full rebase with every code drop has been a giant headache, with the code churn from upstream that providing little to no value to CWM.
In any case, this unties my hands to deviate completely from AOSP, with the primary goal to make a much more polished touch UI.
ROM Manager
ROM Manager is a little over 2 years old, and though it has grown in features quite a bit since its first incarnation, parts are starting to show its age. I've been contemplating a significant UI rewrite for some time now, and will pull the trigger on that shortly. I also want to add in some features that I am hoping will be of some interest:
* A paid ROM section for devs to publish their work and support their hobby.
* Upload your current ROM to ROM Manager for anyone to use, from the device.
* Connect ROM Manager to the Recovery Builder for automatic updates of recovery. No device left behind
Speaking of the Recovery Builder; it has been pleasantly successful. To date, around 1700 recoveries have been built. Many for devices ROM Manager currently does not even support.
Anyways, if you have any suggestions for the future of ClockworkMod products, please drop me a line!.

Here koush explains how the backup size is so small :
New ClockworkMod Backup Format
TL;DR:
Don't delete /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs
I've gotten a few questions about how this works, so I figured I'd make a post on it.
Basically, here's what happens:
The files being backed up are hashed (sha256, not that it matters). Then it checks for a file with the name of the hash in
/sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs
So, if the hash of the file was c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c63 37ceb24de6f5ed, it looks for /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs/c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c63 37ceb24de6f5ed
If the hash file is found, it continues on to the next file. Otherwise, it copies the file to the blobs directory with the file name being the hash.
ROMs and user data, for the most part, do not change too much between builds and backups. So, your APKs, system files, etc, are generally only stored once. This saves a ton of space. Especially between incremental backups.
Some of you may be thinking "well, how do I delete a backup?".
First, never delete the blobs directory. This would actually delete all your backups by rendering them unusable.
Simply delete the usual backup directory, and the next time you run a backup, all the unused hash files will be automatically delete (a process known as garbage collection). The recovery will show "Freeing space..." while this is happening.

Team Win Recovery Project 2.2, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

BUGS:
I have tested install, wipe and backup and it's working good, If you have found a bug post here but don't post common twrp bugs.
Credits:
- Dees_Troy and other all Twrp team - for making this recovery
- Cyanogenmod team - used cm7 device folder to compile this recovery
Just flashed it. Nice job!
No bugs so far, but don't take my word for it since I only played around with it for five minutes.
Noticed so far:
1. Very quick to exit recovery and reboot into the system (less than a second)
2. A lot of customizations and nice interface
I love it! Finally someone did.
The other day, I was thinking of compiling CWM 6 Touch from source but I guess I don't need it now
Real nice, just installed and take a fast look on it. Will test more later. Thanks:good:
been waiting for this. I had this on my a100 but i couldn't find it on my p500
finally this day has come
this should be in original development
hey it rebooted in the middle of a backup(that backup was like 200 mb). now it can't backup anymore. it can't create folder sdcard/ (text cuts off)
edit: reflashing recovery. rebacking up. seeing what happens
wierd... its says my sd-ext is 0 mb. i use link2sd and i definitly have stuff on my sd-ext
Edit: Now everything works. thanks...
It say's on recovery that it's 2.2.2.1.. And thank's a lot to this wonderful recovery..

This is due to our phone's screen size. I guess Ron can fix it while building, it needs some xml edits
Is it as stable as CWM 5.0.2.0? What are the added features? Need your suggestions as I never used any other recovery other than CWM.

From Cwm 6.0.4.5 u cannot flash cwm 6.0.3.7 or cm9,cm10.2 or cm7 it will give that error you need to revert back to stock using odin then try again.

Error status 7 is an install script error for the ROM and /or recovery. You will need to look at your CWM log for the rom developer to fix the issue. Sometimes the install will complete, sometimes it won't. It's more than likely a permission error for a file that doesn't exist.
Also remember, newer CWM's also contain a newer kernel version to operate with the newer ROMs. You folks flashing some older roms will run into issues.
Other notice in the OP;
This Recovery will only support Ext4, Ext3 or Ext2 formatted Custom ROMs.
No RFS support has been included here.
So dont come with the issues when having any stock ROM or stock based RFS custom ROM installed.
The Device wont boot up

So this tells me, the CWM is right now only useful for installing KitKat roms? OP needs to clarify, cause right now, it looks like people are messing up their devices.
MD
please fix blue screen and flash of old rom such cm10.2 and cm9
