Hey guys, i present to you a new updated version of CyanogenMod Recovery a.k.a CWM 6.0.1.4. The current version that we use is 5.0.2.6
The new permanent build is up. Its no-more a WIP.
But still please test and report back.
Edit : The bricked ace is causing a lot of problems. I cannot test the recoveries. If possible please consider donating so that i can get it repaired.
Donation link below my profile picture.
Declaration :
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]You are using this at your own risk. I am not responsible for any bricks or thermonuclear wars.[/COLOR]
Permanent version : CWM 6.0.1.4
How to flash :
Download the zip and put it in the sdcard.
Reboot to recovery and flash the zip.
Reboot to system. (This system is very important as it links all recovery files to the system.)
Now reboot to recovery and enjoy.
PS : The backups created by this CWM are indeed very small in size. Its a new feature. Don't come running to me asking why it happens. Read below about how it works.
Changelog of CWM 6 :
As said by Koush himself -
Changes:
New backup format that deduplicates data between backups.
Faster backups.
Fixed restores > 2GB.
Minor UI tweaks (new background, animated Android)
Create Android Update Zips on device : Using this new feature, anyone can create an update.zip package of their currently installed ROM for others to use.
Future:
In the past, I have merged/rebased every CWM with AOSP. With Jellybean, I have decided this is no longer in the best interest of the project. There are only a few areas of AOSP recovery that are of interest (roots.c - file system, minui, and updater). Those will continue to be merged into CWM. Other than that, doing a full rebase with every code drop has been a giant headache, with the code churn from upstream that providing little to no value to CWM.
In any case, this unties my hands to deviate completely from AOSP, with the primary goal to make a much more polished touch UI.
ROM Manager
ROM Manager is a little over 2 years old, and though it has grown in features quite a bit since its first incarnation, parts are starting to show its age. I've been contemplating a significant UI rewrite for some time now, and will pull the trigger on that shortly. I also want to add in some features that I am hoping will be of some interest:
* A paid ROM section for devs to publish their work and support their hobby.
* Upload your current ROM to ROM Manager for anyone to use, from the device.
* Connect ROM Manager to the Recovery Builder for automatic updates of recovery. No device left behind
Speaking of the Recovery Builder; it has been pleasantly successful. To date, around 1700 recoveries have been built. Many for devices ROM Manager currently does not even support.
Anyways, if you have any suggestions for the future of ClockworkMod products, please drop me a line!.

Here koush explains how the backup size is so small :
New ClockworkMod Backup Format
TL;DR:
Don't delete /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs
I've gotten a few questions about how this works, so I figured I'd make a post on it.
Basically, here's what happens:
The files being backed up are hashed (sha256, not that it matters). Then it checks for a file with the name of the hash in
/sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs
So, if the hash of the file was c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c63 37ceb24de6f5ed, it looks for /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs/c5273884b90d490134e7737b29a65405cea0f7bb786ca82c63 37ceb24de6f5ed
If the hash file is found, it continues on to the next file. Otherwise, it copies the file to the blobs directory with the file name being the hash.
ROMs and user data, for the most part, do not change too much between builds and backups. So, your APKs, system files, etc, are generally only stored once. This saves a ton of space. Especially between incremental backups.
Some of you may be thinking "well, how do I delete a backup?".
First, never delete the blobs directory. This would actually delete all your backups by rendering them unusable.
Simply delete the usual backup directory, and the next time you run a backup, all the unused hash files will be automatically delete (a process known as garbage collection). The recovery will show "Freeing space..." while this is happening.

[RECOVERY] ClockworkMod (use Rom Manager now)

ClockworkMod recovery for LG P500.
Avalaible via Rom manager now.
How to flash:
1. Install ROM Manager from market
2. Get root in some way.
3. Flash recovery via ROM Manager
Zip package with amonra recovery attached (if anyone want to back to amonra).
Why ClockworkMod?
+ it is nicer
+ it is clockworkmod
+ format partitions
+ normal support for backup/restore
- don't support for Amend scripts
- don't support Link2SD
Ext partition fs: ext4.
Don't compatible with backups created in AmonRa.
About Amend scripts:
To give you back history, there are currently two ways to create "update.zip" scripts. The first one is "update-script", also known as Amend. It was the first version of the scripting language created by Google, and was used in Android 1.0 and Cupcake (1.5). However, Amend has two serious design flaws:
Function arguments can not span more than 1 word.
The scripting language is compiled into the recovery causing image bloat and inflexibility.
Because of this reason Google REMOVED Amend support in Donut (Android 1.6) and beyond, and instead switched to update-binary and updater-script, which is also known as Edify.
This means that you can't falsh some zips. If you like this recovery ask zip authors to update his packages.
Modders: Please switch to using Edify.

Hi mik, thanks for all your work!! Can we use rom manager with this recovery and your CyanogenMod port?
EDIT: link doesn't work
Hi Mik,
Could you please attach zip file?
Can't download it from the link you gave. It redirects me to some site I can't download.
Same here. Seems to be a MediaFire problem.

I don't used AmonRa too much (compiled CWM at first day after buying phone ) so I can say only:
+ it is nicer
+ it is clockworkmod
+ format partitions
+ normal support for backup/restore
- support for Amend scripts
Out of things you point out, by one you mean ability to format different partitions e.g. we can format ext partition only?
Secondly, will it restore previous Nand backups correctly ?
And what do you mean by amend scripts? Sorry I am not an IT Guy.
And what exactly is clockworkmod?

So..just to get it right ( and avoid bricking my phone )...to install the above CWM, I boot into my current amonra recovery (1.1) and flash this zip which will replace amonra with cwm ?
thanks in advance...
If we want to revert back to the old one, will we have to follow the same procedure that we followed while installing original amonRa?

I don't think you can flash them.. this was an issue i faced when flashing themes created from UOT they needed the update-binary and i was using megatron at that time which didn't have.. so i couldn't even do the workaround until uot gave the option to cook it for such roms in their v4.0
So as far as i ve seen neither of noejn's rom have the update-binary so beware before you flash cwm btw mik nice work.. works like a charm

Very nice to see this come out, looking forward to trying it out. Not to sound ungrateful but I have been hoping for a recovery that lets you name the backups rather than have them time stamped. Call me lazy but I flash back and forth between roms enough that keeping then straight just by the date and time is tough for an old fart like me...and yes I know rom manager can rename them for me but like I said I'm lazy...
Great work guys, thanx for your contributions to android life
Awesome guys, very smooth and much better looking than CWM recovery, a keeper indeed.
Edit: For those curious, it also works fine with the Reboot to Recovery feature build into many custom roms, such as CM7, Oxygen etc.
Thanks shift and teamwin, always good stuff.

Just tried it out and compared it to Clockwork Recovery. Seems a lot cleaner, definitely love how you can assign a folder for flashable .zips.
I think I'll keep this over my Clockwork Recovery 4.0.0.2 looking forward to future updates.
OK I took the plunge using the other teamwin contribution of the day(you guys rock!), the app for flashing img files like kernels and recoveries and it works fine so far on my ns4g. I especially like how I can mount usb in recovery and get at my files, never had any luck with any previous recoveries allowing it, even ones that had the option. Haven't tried all the options just yet but I am sure to find something to flash around here requiring a backup or two....let me dig around...
I too flashed it looks nice, love the options, thanks teamwin

That would mean we'd have to create a software keyboard type interface which might bloat the recovery. As you said you could always use rom manager, or even mount the sdcard as a usb drive and change the folder name manually.
I knew for Shinzul my Ninzul was involved.

One thing I could use some help with though, I tried to flash deck's latest and it gave me a status 7 error, just wondering if its because this isn't official for the ns4g or not...and I can report that it did a successful backup and restore for me

I absolutely loved this rom when i came across faia's version, but it had a lot of modding needed for xda sharing.
TODAY (thanks to nasty007) WE GET A CLEAN, XDA SAFE AND MUCH IMPROVED MOKEE (cm7 based)FOR THE WILDFIRE
Main credits to nasty007 for porting a new version of Mokee to our wildfire, this is a much improved rom and interface, Menu and settings are now all language specific,we had some bugs which are fixed and we still have some minor issues remaining. The rom is now ready for release. I have fixed main bugs as listed in credits.
Remaining issues/bugs.
*. You inform us of anymore, if anyone has solutions to any issues then please inform. Thanks.
I am not a developer and have little experience in major fixes etc etc so please don't complain or ask for eta's as they will happen if and when available.
Disclaimer
Flash at your own risk blah blah blah............ I am not responsible for you or your phone.
Recommended:-
Total fresh flash of rom and apps so no conflicts from previous versions or different roms arise.
how to : -
1.reboot into recovery
2.wipe data/factory reset
3.wipe cache
4.(Advanced menu) wipe dalvik cache.
5.(mounts and storage menu) format sd-ext,format system, format data and format cache.
6.(only for mtd users, skip to #8 if you don't use mtd) install bravo recovery file, repeat the format of system, data and cache from #5.
7.reboot recovery.
8.install mokee rom zip.
9.flash gapps.
10.reboot (mtd users, install the bravo boot file prior to reboot )
It is quite a large rom! so make sure you have enough space (Custom MTD users) - I would recommend 200 40 at 1st, then alter as desired after checking sizes)
Good size is 185 20 for me as I need quite high values for universal rom flashing.
The a2sd+ is still available if you want it.
Please be patient whilst on boot screen as it takes a while to boot up.
Cant think of much more to say other than..... give this badboy a chance.
I WILL TRY TO HELP AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE BUT REMEMBER, I AM NOT THE CREATOR OR A DEVELOPER.
Remember......give it time to boot
NOW I HOPE YOU ENJOY.

Beats Audio Enhancement (Headset Enhancement)
Updates (fixes and tweaks to be flashed over main rom)
Again many thanks to saadislam :good: :highfive::victory:
V2.1 UPDATE
Added torch.apk (power widget flashlight still wont work with it though)
System font back to DroidSerif-Italic/bold
Wifi scan interval increased and minor buildprop edit.
Overclock settings now working from cm7 settings
new cm7 settings applied
2.2-UPDATE
ALL THE 2.1 UPDATES + NEW FRAMEWORK BY SAADISLAM (fixes pattern lock sizes etc etc) + NEW CLOCKOPIA FONT
2.3-UPDATE
All fixes +
saadislams new settings/flash widget mods.
phone delay tweak (should be faster now)
(just flash over rom as usual)
mokeecontacts fix.zip= fixes the ability to add new contacts, this however leaves the stock cm7 contacts list ui messed up so its best to keep using the dialer ex or your own desired app for a cleaner ui. just flash the zip via recovery and reboot.
just in case

so do you get the data/app issue? check with esfile manager in data, app if you get another app folder and inside that another app folder and so on!! it duplicated 39 times for me lol.
I checked my ext and its ext3 made from cwm. how did you partition and what's your ext version.?
Boomshakkattack
i installe faias version with noa2sd and everything seems to be fine, no duplicates or anything

[RECOVERY] TeamWin Recovery Project (twrp) 2.2.0.1 [15-08-2012]

Team Win Recovery Project 2.1, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. We started from the ground up by taking AOSP recovery and loading it with the standard recovery options, then added a lot of our own features. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
I don't own any LG phone,so my support will be limited, but you can ask Great_Day for more as he's my tester.

What I like most is the file browser, so I missed in CWM
Now no need to use QtADB, rather, I will use it less. :fingers-crossed:
Thank you
EDIT:
Bug:
From GooManager it keeps out the recovery

Can I restore my CWM/Amon ra backups on TWRP?
No you can't. but other way is: flash CWM, restore a backup, flash TWRP, create new backup, repeat.

Just flashed it. Nice job!
No bugs so far, but don't take my word for it since I only played around with it for five minutes.
Noticed so far:
1. Very quick to exit recovery and reboot into the system (less than a second)
2. A lot of customizations and nice interface
I love it! Finally someone did.
The other day, I was thinking of compiling CWM 6 Touch from source but I guess I don't need it now
Real nice, just installed and take a fast look on it. Will test more later. Thanks:good:
been waiting for this. I had this on my a100 but i couldn't find it on my p500

This is due to our phone's screen size. I guess Ron can fix it while building, it needs some xml edits
Is it as stable as CWM 5.0.2.0? What are the added features? Need your suggestions as I never used any other recovery other than CWM.
