[Q] Tweaking MMS on Omnia 7 - Omnia 7 Windows Phone 7 Development

In reading the threads on the MMS, it seems that everything directs to the Samsung application that seems to guess the settings based on the software load you have. My issue is that I have an unlocked version that is a JK1 build but need MMS settings for a small US carrier, not listed. Has anyone figured out a more direct approach to tweaking MMS, either via registry or other methods? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

hi
hi
isn't that a generial problem of windows phone 7???

Is your phone branded or unbranded? Is it dev unlocked? You might be able to uninstall the Network Profile app and then use the Samsung Tools homebrew app to enable ADC (requires a dev unlocked phone). Then it should auto detect your settings after a reboot. Haven't tested this myself - if you try it, please confirm whether it worked.

I think its not about uninstalling the network profile app we need to check the source of network profile xap so that we understand which registry ebtries get modified...i m from PAKISTAN and still trying to get MMS working |
I will be doing this over the weeknd and hopefully will have good news for all the OMNIA 7 users

I suggested uninstalling Network Profile because otherwise it will overwrite the values written using ADC (via Samsung Tools)...

i can confirm that uninstalloign network profile and runningADC again makes MMS fine for
Telenor PK
Zong
Warid
I m on UFONE and MMSC field is missing .Can anyone have idea where the hell is this MMSC located in registry.
For telenor u have to chantge ip address through registry i will post the registry entries tommorow..so basically any network not appllying MMSC for MMS feature can now working successfully on omnia 7

Waiting for your next post Papubhai...

As you mentioned above, i uninstalled Network Profile and then checked the box marked "Run Set ADC flag" in Samsung tools. Then I reboted my phone. My question is, will ADC auto detect my settings?

if you have Touch Experience in your Omnia 7 and Windows Phone Device Manager in your PC installed, then you can edit the Vodafone PXT XML file and put in the correct MMSC entry. Thats what I would try and experiment.

could you pls explain how to make a xml files so i can put my service provider mms settings ?
my omnia 7 is unlocked , and i have Touch Experience and Windows Phone Device Manager.
thank-you

I've had an unlocked Omnia 7 for months now and still no MMS. The network profile app lists my carrier but when I select it, it keeps reverting back to VIP MK.

Guys,
No solution until now... I really cannot believe that..
Some smart developer already find a solution for phone backup and language keyboard which it consider more complicate than MMS setting.
What i need to do is to enter the MMS configuration manually or create a file with MMS configuration and deploy it in the phone..
Any developer out there helps us…

Trying to get Vodaphone Live to work on HTC branded TytnII

Hi guys - need some help.
Been following the guide on how to get Vodaphone Live to work on the HTC branded TytnII.
Done the registry editor changes to it now appears to be an Nokia N95... but every time I try to copy the Browsers.dll file across to the windows directory I get a write permissions error.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Tony
Try using Resco Explorer or Total Commander to copy "browser.dll" to \Windows...
I think the built-in file explorer will give you an error, but those two should allow you to copy it over.

Hiya this is the guide I used:
http://www.modaco.com/Vodafone-Live-Settings-t259142.html
I tried the settings in the thread Wise1 gave but it didn't work. Has anyone got vodafone live to work on the TyTnII?
Use the cab in here...
It uses the same browser.dll and reg settings as mentioned in the guide, but only takes two seconds (and a soft reset).
Oh, and always remember that you have to connect to the internet via the *WAP* settings before you can get on to Vodafone Live! - you'll get an error if you're connected via the "Internet" settings.
Enjoy!
It Worked!!!!
Thanks Sub69 it worked. I had spent hours trying to get Mobile TV.
Just thought I'd add one note though for those people that download the cab and then expend the Internet browser to work.
Once you have installed the cab go to START, Settings, Connections, then click on Connections icon. Click on Advanced and Select Networks. On programs that automatically connect to the Internet, select Contract WAP from the dropdown menu.
Next goto Internet Exployer and type http://live.vodafone.net. It should then work.
p.s. turn off WiFi as this will stop internet streaming on vodafone live
Thank you for this...
This worked perfectly for me, although I had to enter wsp://live.vodafone.com before it loaded the vodafone live! homepage (http:// at the start didn't work).
Amazing isn't it how Vodafone happily sell Windows Mobile devices but don't support them with Vodafone live and Pocket IE!
Personally, I use: http://live.vodafone.co.uk but as long as it all works, that's the main thing!
And yes, you must be connected via the *WAP* settings otherwise you get a "service is not responding at this time" error.
Bit of a pain that - I've tried all sorts of fiddling with the exception list etc. and I just can't get it to switch connection settings automatically when navigating to the Vodafone pages.
app to devellop...
If a dev guys could write a little apps with two big button to switch to :
* Vodafone Live wap
* Defaut internet
it's would be nice if you can setup within the applic 2 network config something like:
Button1(I):
Internet connect with : ....
Work connect wit : ....
Button 2(WAP):
Internet connect with : ....
Work connect wit : ....
and an option to start PIE to another web page ... with button 2...
Still not working...even with the .cab
Thanks guys...I'm another HTC TYTN ii user and I got all excited reading this thinking I'd finally found the fix (I hate Vodafone for selling me the Vodafonelive/MobileTV package and then not supporting me!!). I've loaded the .cab and followed the instructions for the reset. I'm also using WAP to now try and access the vodafone live sites...but no joy!!! :-( The following errors occur on each respective 'potential' Vodafone live page.
http://live.vodafone.co.uk - Gives me the error message: Bad Gateway - The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. Additionally, a 502 Bad gateway error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
http://live.vodafone.com - This must timeout in some other way because I get an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later.
http://live.vodafone.net again an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.
wsp://live.vodafone.net again an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.
wsp://live.vodafone.com This must timeout in some other way because I get an IE initiated message saying The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. check the connection and try again later.
wsp://live.vodafone.co.uk
Can someone please advise if I need to do anything else...or can you think of anything else that I can try???
By the way...I do at least get the EXCEPTIONS working out in Connections...By inputting the above sites into EXCEPTIONS, they do connect over WAP rather than IS(3G).
Pleeeeeease help! Cheers.
The cause is just your tricks to use exception...! Don't try to use it, even if it connect right...do a manual connect you will see the difference
I got those sorts of error messages when I was trying to work out how to use the exception list too. Very long "loading" times, followed by IE timeout errors.
Should work fine if you set your connections so that the "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet" are using the "Contract WAP" settings...
Same here?!

Same here?! Kaiser (Vario III) with Dutty´s Kaiser Final 2 (TouchFlo). Running fine.
What happened:
Try to establish internet connection. "wap.vodafone.de" (without Proxy)
- Vodafone Mail works fine (POP)
- IE (only http://www.vodafone.de) works fine
- Every other page (also wsp://live.vodafone.de) The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.
Add Proxy 139.007.029.001 like it is written in some "Threads":
- Vodafone Mail --> did not work any longer. Sync error (Could not establish connection)
- No IE connection is possible.
Any idea?
Thanks. Bye.
Reversing the Vodafone cab file
Hi Sub69
I have been able to use Vodafone Live TV fine on my TyTn II for sometime but recently I wanted to look on a site that won't work as it said that my phone had been detected as a Symbian S60 unit and wanted me to download a .sis file which obviously won't work on the TyTn II. Have you got a cab file that does the reverse of the vodafone Live cab file and reverts the TyTn back to a WM6 device as far as some programs are concerned. I will then be able to toggle between the 2 as and when I need to.
Thanks

Palringo, proxy settings and user agent...

Hi,
I've got a french V1615 by sfr and an "illimythics" data plan.
I try to connect with palringo (http://www.palringo.com/)
but the connection is impossible.
I try to change the registery settings :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Parlingo/Settings
"Connection/Proxy/Host" : 195.115.25.129
"Connection/Proxy/Port" : 8080
"Connection/Proxy/Type" : 1
but i still got the " connection loop " problem.
Do i have to change the user agent ?
Opera mini works fine
thanks in advance for you'r help
ben
Hi there,
I think you shouldnt set "type" to 1 (it means HTTPS)
Which I don't think is correct for SFR Proxy
Give it a try with type=0, and let us know how it works.
(comment based on http://forum.palringo.com/archive/index.php/t-64.html)
You may also find these (currently undocumented) registry settings useful:
Connection/Proxy/Host - The hostname for your proxy server
Connection/Proxy/Port - The port for your proxy server
Connection/Proxy/Type - 1 for HTTPS proxy
(all settings have string type)
This will allow Palringo to tunnel it's traffic through an HTTPS/SSL proxy.
--
re. The password: this will be obscured in future versions. Note, however that the settings are stored in HKCU, which by default is not accessible to other users of a shared system

I'm sorry to bump this topic again, but i need some help!
I'm using a limited connection as the one you've mentioned, it's an Orange network in Israel.
I use this proxy : 192.118.11.56:8080
Unfortunately this trick and registry change didn't work. I always get the "Reconnect pending" message.
I also tried to change the value of the proxy type to "0" as sebbes suggested, but nothing :S
I think that this WAP proxy is HTTP and not a secured HTTPS one. Can this be the reason for not working?
I'd like to hear suggestions on how to make this work.
Thanks!!!

How To : Update internet settings pre loaded

Hi,
I've got ROM 1.38WWE with the current Telstra pre loaded software on the device. Everything works fine, included autoconfig and some other tools posted on here, (many thanks for them!)
What I can't do is edit the internet connection setting, the device says "this connection is pre-configured. It cannot be modified"
The reason I need to modify it, is to add a setting that will setup my direct push technology, so I can wirelessly sync with an exchange server. On the imate, once you add this setting everything works fine but here I cannot do it?
Any suggestions?
You will need to install a registry editing software, I used PHM RegEdit.
Once installed use the find function on "Telstra Internet"
and set the ReadOnly value from 1 to 0
It will be somewhere in :
HKEY Local Machine > COMM > ConnMgr > Providers > Random String eg. {7C4B7xxx
> Connections > Telstra Internet
Edit:
What setting did you need to change? i didn't have to change anything for my setup of exchange synchronisation on my Telstra TD.
I did notice however that I couldn't access pop3 and live messenger on the default proxy, having instead to change it to 10.1.1.181 - this allowing telstra WAP access/internet browsing/pop3/live messenger/exchange, but the Touchflo weather app has been "intermittently" working since... still nutting that one out.

My mobile operator doesn't set after hard reset

Hello everybody, I've just upgraded my kaiser to windows mobile 6.5, build 21202.
one of the many problems I've found is that I can't send mms, or go to internet... I've noticed that the usual program that sets the mobile operator did'nt launch itself on startup.
Does anybody know an issue?
maybe a link to download this program...
thank you if you find time to answer me.
saigneur thor
Go to Start>Settings>Connections>Connection Setup
Set it to your Provider and Country manually. If it happens again set it up again and turn off auto config. Remember to restart.
As for your wireless go to
Start>Settings>Connections>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks
and make sure the correct provider for your internet is selected.
If you have a data plan I think (emphasis on think) it's Mi ISP or Medianet.
I hope that solves your problems, if that's it.
i'm afraid it doesn't change anything...
I have no acccces to the WAP, error 403 and i can't sent a mms...
I'm sade...
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS !
i found a solution :
just install a new "Network Config Wizard", downloaded on XDA devs' archives
i can send mms, and go on the net !!!!
I'me singing in the rain !!! just...
I 'm happy again !
lol
oh no! still have problems on the net, error 403 forbidden...

Windows Phone 8.1: deleting default APN

Hi,
I have a Nokia Lumia 520 Vodafone (I'm not sure if this is the rigth section or this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-phone-8/development).
I'm using a MVNO operator. It's everything quite good (connection) but I can't use it in order to have the hotspot.
I try to explain: as default, there are 3 different APN (not related to the MVNO operator but related to the operator who "give" the network to the MVNO) and I added the one correct for the MVNO operator. I use the last one, and the smartphone can connect and so on.
The problem probably is that when I activate the tethering (hot spot) the phone automatically tries to activate another APN (one of the 3 as default) but obviously there isn't any connection (there is a message like "there isn't any connection available").
The solution should be: delete these default APN.. but I can't!
Pushing (holding it) the APN only 2 choice are showed: ACTIVATE and SHOW (neither MODIFY nor DELETE).
Well, the question is: can I in some way delete these APN (or change their values... I don't know, via registry system)??
Please note that the tethering function is officially allowed by the operator and in his opinion the is a phone matter.
Also please note the Vodafone brand is only "a face", I mean this rom doesn't deny any type of connection.
Thanks to help
Known problem; some MOs put a custom configuration for tethering in the registry of their phones. To make tethering work "like normal" you need to remove this custom configuration. It can be done by installing a registry editor via chamber hijacking, but I don't have the details of what changes you need to make handy right now.

Do you think I can do it simply installing something like "Root Tool" (http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/root-tool/f4acc009-ea1e-4063-9bab-fec50195aa1e) ?
Root Tool should let you make the necessary changes, yes. I'm not sure if it supports binary data types, so if you need to edit those you may have trouble, but otherwise it's fine.
Sorry I don't recall the details for making this work. Searching this forum for "Internet Sharing" may help...
