[Q] Sense UI 3.0 for N1 ? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is possible the porting of the Sense UI 3.0 on n1?
This ROM is amazing!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjCI9CFp6ew

The unloking method looks great

I'd imagine it would be easier to port over if the Desire ever got it but from recent news that's not gonna happen. Apparently our devices don't have the power to run it :/

it is possible, but i think nobody will ever port this.
The N1 became boring for devs since there are really cool new devices...

Sensation on T-Mobile should be everyone's next device anyway. It would really suck if they stuck aosp on it Like the g2. Either way its an amazing device

I'll root my N1 if they do...
I've been waiting for a good reason to unlock and root my N1 since I got it over a year ago... I think this might be it!D

No I'm serious. I'm very impressed by so much progression on mods with roms and all that good stuff but this is what does it for me... that's if someone makes it happen of course.

I'd love just the lockscreen of the Sense UI 3.0 for our beloved N1. All the other animations are just eye candy, but the lockscreen actually serves some practical needs.

amazing
I guess is just time to wait for someone to port this jewel on nexus one

Seems like we're getting official Sense 3.0

"Like the Desire S software update, the software update for the Incredible S will bring with it Sense 3.0, along with its goodies like a 3D launcher, and a widget-izied lock screen. The Android version will also be bumped to 2.3.5, and will also bring Google Talk with video chatting capabilities to the handset."
How come no one have posted these links?
So, looks like HTC won't ignore the IncS owners! For now...

Read the twitter link from PaulOBrian.
"So Saga and Vivo (Desire S and Incredible S) have official Sense 3.0 builds now. "
If the builds are done, it shouldn't be long before they release it.
But then again, you never know with HTC. For me it seems like they're pretty slow at updating their phones...

Better slow and solid, than fast and buggy

Agreed. I had the original Samsung Galaxy before the Incredible S. The updates from Samsung were buggy and slow to non-existent. That was what prompted me to move to HTC since they seemed much better.
So why does desire s have it and inc s doesn't? They are virtually the same.
And saying there are a lot of phones not having it is a non-sense argument. VIVO is not an old phone. So it is our right to expect better service

Quit your *****in.
What's nonsense is your incessant whining.
We will also get ics I'm sure.
Htc is one of the best for updates, if you're complaining about this then you probably just shouldn't own an Android phone.

Well, if they continue updating this rapidly we'll have cm9 before official sense 3.0 x)
Anyway, anyone who's gotten the update yet?

As someone with 16000 S-On Im really glad to hear this .. as for the banter on HTC's speed or lack of for updates ... HTC builds are cranked out faster unofficial or official than any other phone models I own ... Normally I don't care much for official rollouts but as there's no s off working for me atm ,knowing that there is confirmed rollouts coming I'm quite happy to wait ... Definate worth waiting for solid n stable than quick n buggy fota...
Can't wait for this to hit, Mike will have a new base for his Android Revolution HD Rom.
Yes that's fantastic news. Hopefully with the new official Sense 3 ROM, more custom ROMS will be available for us IncS users instead of having devs and cooks port ROMs from other handsets. Perhaps soon we'll have more choice of custom sense ROMs! =)
Yeaa, can't wait. Hope they don't put the project on hold, because of the resources they need for ICS device updates.
Got bored of sense 2.1. The 3d launcher looks amazing.
Does anyone know if the dialer issue got fixed in 2.3.5?

In fact sense 3.5 will use less system resources than sense 3.0 and thats why devices using MSN8255 can get this update
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
Does anyone know the exact differences between Sense 3.0 and 3.5? I've tried both ROMs before and there a few UI changes (e.g the tick and the checkbox is different) and you can jump from dialer to contacts, favorites etc directly from the jog dial and the bottom.

Got my new Vivid!

Arrived today from Amazon (penny phone!). Called my brother, he reported good volume and very clear quality. Seemed the same on my end, so my call volume and quality is not a problem.
Activation was easy, and set-up included a question about HTC-something or other that would check on my phone use. I was able to decline that, but I intend to get rid of all the CIQ stuff.
Right now it is upgrading to ICS, I am looking forward to it.
Wheee!

I might reccomend the one x over it at this point because it's newer and has less risk of eol status but if you need a removable battery and expandable storage than this is the phone for you and if your coming from an old single core 512mb of ram setup android phone than this phone will feel like a rocket

Welcome! I'm new to the dev scene here myself too but it's not hard to get started, especially with the Vivid. I did the S-off trick with a coated paper clip in one try, you just need to be careful and get the right contacts. Just be sure to read the SuperGuide, the Guide, and the Tutorials before actually downloading any zips and trying to flash them. It's very very important to thoroughly read all directions, as the people around here know exactly what works and what will brick your phone... I know from experience as I'm on my second Vivid.
Once you're Boot Unlocked, Rooted, and S-off, the Vivid is your oyster and you'll have a ton of fun flashing it with new ROMs, Kernals, and MODs.

Thanks to all, seems like a great group. My last phone was an LG Optimus V, and compared to that the Vivid is a rocket!. Very snappy. I rooted it, took the sd-card from the Optimus and put it in the Vivid. DL'd TiBu and restored all my apps and their data. All working the way I like it.
I have been lurking on these forums for a couple of weeks, got lots of good tips already. I'll post some screen shots one of these days. I am not much of a Sense fan, prefer my old favorite launcher. Slowly de-bloating the thing, ATT puts way too much junk on the phones, but they all do.
Thanks again.

As promised, a couple of screen shots. Notice the app drawer, I have 50% transparency on that. Also notice the icons at the bottom. The first is All apps, second is Apps I installed, third is called Tools and I can put anything I want in there, same for the fourth one called Fun.
My widget is BeWeather Pro. The only app I put on my home screen is ICE: Emergency. I recommend it.

CM10 Development

I am thinking of selling my Velocity, not that I really want to love the thing, however the security restraints and general hard to develop nature of this device is turning me off HTC.
So get to the point you ask
Just putting it out there its not a request, demand by any means I just wanna know if there is anything CM10 in the pipe line due for release soon or is it to hard because of the bad HTC code and security.
I would like to keep the Velocity but there are easier devices out there.
Anything cm10 wise will be at tootz, which you know is on hold...don't think anyone here is really building from source...maybe in the future I may give it a try...but idk

Not a good idea man. HTC has gone too far with locking things down, but Samsung has started on that path. They locked down the Verizon GS3 (it's been cracked, but still) and people are having huge issues with flashing. Many of the dual core GS3's are losing their IMEI after flashing. The grass doesn't look much greener on the other side anymore.

I'm going to see how I like mine by Christmas time, in which I'm buying a Nexus if I don't like it by then. It's not just htc for me it's nexus or nothing from now on. We have a pretty common chipset, we should have a development forum filled with aosp and aokp roms but we don't? Why? Because security is off the chain. It's a taste of things to come honestly. By next year look for android phones to be completely locked down with almost no updates anymore. They are becoming the new feature phones.
But HTCs s thing is ridiculous. It's another hurdle that doesn't exist on every other manufacturer. My captivate was completely unlocked from the factory, rooting took 5 minutes and you kept your data.

MAYBE JB support from htc in a undefinite future.

Hello guys, to me it's a great news; I'm sorry if it's a repost or a false hope...
Directly from HTC site: http://www.htc.com/www/help/android41faq/
What devices will not get Android 4.1?
We work hard to ensure each of our products has the optimal user experience and therefore some products will remain at their current version of Android. In general, devices with 512MB RAM or less will not be upgraded to Android 4.1. At present, these devices include the HTC One V and the HTC Desire C. As we identify other devices that will not be upgraded, we'll provide updated information.
It should be noted that upgrades are not the same thing as ongoing support. Devices not being upgraded to Android 4.1 will still get software improvements, security fixes, and technical support.

even though our phone isn't one of the best seller, I'll hope with all my force for a JB release, but i bet that will take soo long, just thought about ICS for our phone...
Our death will come with the 'in general' bit
Sent from my Nexus 7 using the xda app
I don't want to break your dreams or anything, but it took HTC almost a year to deliver the ICS update... it is also over 18 months since our phone was released, so HTC don't have to bring us anymore updates.
And as you said, this device wasn't that populare. It got stuck between the Desire HD and the Desire S.
You do the math on this one, I might be too pessimistic to think clearly. And wasn't the ICS update from HTC really, really, sluggish?
If you want official JB, get a new phone... hoping for this phone to get another update from HTC is like trying to talk some sense into fanatics...
Yes ICS made the phone real real slow, like a symbian one.
Maybe HTC won't do an update for IncS but maybe they do..DHD was far more popular than the IncS and it didn't had the ICS Update.
This is good news for the Desire X, and that means, port to us =)
Not looking good I think

If they are "considering" the 4.1 update for other 2011 devices,
So if the Evo3D, rezound, sensation etc are being 'considered' then sorry but we don't really have much of a chance :-\

Sense 4+ is jellybean. Anyways, I don't think we will ever get sense jellybean update from HTC.

To be exact there is cyan x already working great and has a few bugs but hell yea we can use it as a daily driver.

Well, they actually called a new Sense version 4+. Anyway, Sense version doesn't have anything in connection to Android version, or at least it's name. It's just a stupid coinsidence that one of the latest version of Android (4.1) has the same number as one of the latest Sense versions (4.1) and there are no dependensies between them.

I want a port if HTC Sense 6 to the N5.
But can It even happen? I mean you see stock ported all the time but could you port something like sense?

I was watching a review on the new HTC One, and Sense is beautiful. I would love this.

"stock" doesnt get ported to any nexus device, since they run "stock" default. to port sense to a nexus is extremely hard as it needs htc's framework, and if it does happen it would be partially if any bit at all. this will take lots of time and effort! and considering sense is not open source, you will not have any direct access to its code. anyways, considering that people are still trying to port the last version of sense, i wish you good luck.
I encourage all development but this might be quite difficult with closed sources and the framework. If XpLoDWilD can hack into the snap dragon processor and enable always listening from the low powered core then this is possible as well. I doubt devs of that caliber will focus on porting sense to a specific device non htc device though.

well, you need damn good smali and hex knowledge, as you need to modify the bootstrap in a special lib and add support for s800 ://
it is possible but hard to achieve (well, last word is maybe incorrect, im sorry for that )
Best regards,
OldDroid
I doubt that you will ever see it happen. Which is too bad because of all of the different overlays Sense is by far the best. Unfortunately HTC is not particularly forthcoming with the source code for, well....anything. Having come from the Amaze (Ruby) HTC proved to be very difficult to deal with.
this would be amazing.. loved sense 6 the second I saw it.. but it would be great even if I got a kind of launcher at least. Stock android is great too

Sense is closed source.
They are releasing blinkfeed in the playstore in the coming weeks/ months. You could easily download a sense like launcher and icons. I did play with the newest m8 at the ATT store and I can say I was very impressed. You could also make the clock widget in zooper, combine all that with blinkfeed and you have yourself an almost sense experience.
Go buy the "new" HTC One
Not that simple when you don't have a job

It's possible, but it would be extremely difficult and would require reverse engineering of the libs and some binaries, as well as likely needing a fully modified kernel and ramdisk. By the time it got fully stable, if it ever did, we would probably be at the release of sense 7.

Good job! I came here to link to that thread.
For anyone confused by the title, check out this post in the thread.
In my several years on XDA, I've seen a few attempts to port OEM skins (usually Sense and Touchwiz) to devices from other manufacturers. Of those attempts, exactly zero of them were successful. As much as I'd like to see this (and I would - Sense is actually pretty awesome), it's just not going to happen.

This is really cool, and I hope it ends up working. As of right now, it's only partially functional, which is about as far as most of these ports get.
Don't get me wrong - I'm pretty excited about the possibility of this. It's just that I've seen a lot of these before, and they always end up going dead after a promising start. Here's to hoping this one is different.
