Looks like just what I needed, huge THANKS!

Looks awesome. I wish that my PC (or my brain) wasn't broken.
I haven't been able to get ADB (of any kind, from any source) to run on my win7 64 bit machine...ever. I've had the SDK installed for a while now and have tried several times to get ADB working- today is no different.

Try the adb setup link in my sig!
But you don't need to know how to use adb to use this program

Edit: I got it. The link in your sig is what saved me. Checking this out now. Thanks!!

Well it work with windows xp?

Ok well thanx for helping with this wether works or not

sorry but i dont have xp to try it and the authors website quoted in first post only says windows, im sure if there was more of a requirement he would have said so.
it runs on my win7 64x and that is usually the last supported windows so i would think xp is ok...

Doesn't recognize my phone. Droid Explorer does but this didn't. I already have adb installed on my win 7 64bit laptop.

did you point the program to where adb is installed?

Yes I did. Not sure why it won't recognize my phone.

Trouble getting hard adb root on Captivate GB 2.3.5 ROM
Android Commander 0.7.9.9 at http://androidcommander.com/ xda link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=597098
I have a Samsung Captivate running a modified stock leaked GB 2.3.5 One flash ROM that has been Fugu rooted. TiBU, Rom Toolbox and other Super User apps all work.
So this program by PanPiotr looks like just what the noob in me is after, and I'm sure a few others out there too.
Once installed the program seems to be fine. I have one problem that I can't seem to overcome. That is getting a hard or adb root on the phone. I have tried to follow the instructions of PanPiotr but I don't have a boot.img file in my nandroid BU as outlined in his FAQs. Only cache.img, data.img, sd-ext.img and system.img I can use unyaffs-windows to extract the files in these but the default.prop appears to be calling to be loaded from ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-samsung, which I can't seem to find.
I can modify the default.prop ro.debuggable=0 to =1 with root explorer but just doing it in the root doesn't help. I can't seem to find out which IMG file in my nandroid BU has or how to modify the default.prop file loader to get the ro.debuggable=1 to take or stay.
Consequently the Root Access indicator always says Root Access:NO
Any help would be appreciated.
TYIA
Bud

May have this worked out.
So I flashed a custom rom and kernel. Connected Android commander to phone and I have Root access:OK. Program works great. Thanks PanPiotr.
On the brighter side of all this while in recovery mode of the new kernel (CornKernel_UCKJ3_v403) I found a way of switching the toggle for debugging enabled to on if that kernel works with the rom I was on then that will work. It should so I'll give that a try and let you know.
EDIT:
So I just finished and this worked brilliantly. Hope it helps someone else.
Bud

WOW nice tool very needed
+1
please add option for screen shots for more resolutions
Or to manually edit screen size CUSTOM.
I am using this on my sensation and image is captured but due to wrong resolution rows are shifted
Nice app bro.

Install APKs on your device by double clicking on your PC with installAPK [Beta 1]

Android is really great, but there a few points of Android ownership that are a bit of a pain... one of which is installing APKs on your device. Enter installAPK!
The current release is Beta 1 - usual Beta caveats apply!
What it does
installAPK is currently for Windows only. After installation on your machine, you can double click APK files to install them on your USB attached android device. Simple as that!
Where do I get it?
Download the install EXE and USB drivers if required here at MoDaCo - http://shortun.com/3o
Anything else I should know?
This is the first Beta, tested on XP, Vista and Windows 7, but please post here with any issues!
P
PS Android SDK download / install is NOT required!
PPS More APK related fun coming from me soon!

Hi paul
nice to see you on here
your CAB file to phone app was great
will test this next time I need to install an app to install to my G1 from my pc
Regards
David
OMFG! You rock! <3
Nothing magic here...
It just runs 'adb install whatever.apk'.
Just as easy to simply associate "apk" files with the command "adb install".
Of course!
It does mean you don't have to manually download the SDK and grab ADB however... and just running this setup is easier than doing that, installing and associating.
It also puts a nicer GUI on it, a GUI that will be updated as development progresses, things like 'Save a copy of the APK on your storage card?' and much much more.
P
Wow will have to try it later
Might I suggest a Start Menu shortcut option, I created mine manually, but it'd be nice to leave the option to the user in the install process.
A start menu shortcut to do what?
P
To launch the program. I had to browse into the Program Files folder to launch it, and figured if it just automatically adds to the start menu, it's a tad bit easier.
Great app, but if your going to install a lot of apps after a wipe I find it better to setup a .bat file and just run it. After all the Hero roms I have installed it makes it 20 times faster. Here is the example on my batch file.
Code:
adb install apps\art.wild.gdocs.apk
adb install apps\at.abraxas.mountusb.apk
adb install apps\com.a0soft.gphone.aTrackDog.apk
adb install apps\com.androidapps.widget.battery.apk
adb install apps\com.ap.AppDock.apk

This idea intrigues me... are you running the .bat file from the tools folder or have you set up an environmental variable?
yeah I have the batch file in mt tools folder, and a apps folder that hold all my .apk in that tools folder as well.

Released source. OP updated to reflect this. You will need the stuff that comes in the release as well as the program relys on system("**.bat") to function. Someone here wanted the source so here ya go. Make it better community. I don't have the time, just got a call back to work for next week. (Been laid off a while.)
Oh yea C++. http://gist.github.com/555120
Thanks Man for putting this together great job !!
I keep getting "Installation Aborted" when trying to flash the Samung S boot/shutdown. I hate the Tmobile one. I do see the udpate.zip on the internal card. If it matters, I did flash clockwork recovery before this.
I did the remove sounds, then tried the flash with no luck.

testing it now. confirmed it doesn't work, i had assumed it was properly signed based on my memory of it, but it turns out i was mistaken.
What you can do in the mean time because it might be a while until I get it fixed, is push the boot/shutdown file to your phone and change the update.zip files name, restore clockwork and flash through clockwork.... I am updating the files to reflect this.
It will be working in v0.9 so go ahead and redownload if you see that. Also coming in v0.9 option to install drivers for phone. And maybe more, who knows.

Thats very odd, it is in the folder /utils/ right?
It oughta work just the way it is, however, I do have adb (android-sdk/tools) in my PATH so I guess that might be it.

I didn't see that mentioned in the original post. I extract the .rar onto the phone to /utils? Then run it from there using windows?
TY in advance.
no it can be in any directory, i think i know what the problem is, it is just before bed where i am. i will fix it tomorrow after work and release. i am pretty sure i know what is wrong.
I am getting the same adb error. Maybe my adb path? (c:\android-sdk-windows\tools)

I'm still not understanding where to put the "Vibrant MultiTool" folder to get it to work. Do I put it on the SD card, or on the phone? Do I copy over everything in that folder which contains a "utils" folder along with the MultiTool app?
Thanks for the help.
Edit: This tool is outdated. Use at your own risk and with your own discretion.
Is there a replacement?
You should probably mention that it's outdated in your post that sends people here:

good one mate I use this app for one year or so, and it's amazing
Finally... exactly what I was looking for.
Can't thank you enough for posting this. I've been rooting around for a good all-in-one toolbox for a while. Blows DroidExplorer, etc., out of the water.
Any possibility you could add some more tags to improve other's chances of finding it? I'm certain there are lots more folks looking for exactly this kinda tool.
hey so this seems like a good use of getting around some bugs for usb mount... but quick question, im trying to open the QtADB.exe file, and then it asks me for the path to adb and aapt binaries. I've installed the adroid-sdk package, so where do I point the directory to? my android sdk path is on c:/-program files (x86)- Android. The FAQ doesn't really help in answering questions...

Point it to the exact directory in which adb and aapt are found should be something like c:/program files (x86) - android/tools

Droid explorer (sideload without root!)

I'm surprised I have never seen this program mentioned on here before and this will actually install apks without root or sideloading enabled! Even though it says you need root you don't for alot of operations!
http://de.codeplex.com/ get it here
Here are some of the things that you can do with this and its free!
Features:
Multiple Device Support
Copy and auto-apply update.zip
Copy local files to device
Auto detection of connected/disconnected device
APK file icon and extended information
Device command shell window
Reboot device
Reboot device in to recovery mode
Open files for viewing / execution locally with the default file type executable
Drag & Drop file copy from Explorer
Flash Recovery Image
Package Manager (Install & Uninstall)
No need to mount SD card to access files from computer
Access files in other directories besides SD card
Copy files from device to local clipboard
Paste files from local clipboard to device
Open files on local machine
Display open with dialog to specify what to open a file with
Right click APK and Uninstall
Right click APK and Install
Delete files from device
Take a Screen Shot (landscape or portrait)
Plugins can register as a component to open files
Open from within Computer
Should now work with more ROMs as long as they are Rooted and have busybox
Device "Friendly Name" instead of device serial number.
Android Screencast Plugin - Control your android device with your mouse and keyboard
Install/Uninstall APK files right from explorer
Standalone plugin runner (will mainly be used for windows 7 jump lists and the apk installer but can be used to run any plugin.
Better Hero Support
Backup the "Google Experience" applications and creates an update.zip containing the applications
Use an existing Android SDK with Droid Explorer, or let Droid Explorer set up the SDK for you.
I've been using this prog for a while now and think its an absolute necessity to have on my pc. Hope you enjoy this!

Just the fact that you can sideload without root or having sideloading enabled. Is a development really. Just for example with this you can actually push the gingerbreak.apk to your phone without having sideloading enabled to obtain root.
you can do that with adb too
and the sideload wonder machine
thanks alot...I have root access but don't have sideload, because I do everthing with adb oO

We have got root acces

Unfortunatelly nobody seems to get root, i will try to find out why it worked for me...
I got root acces (and so did a friend of mine) but for some weird reason nobody else seems to get it with the steps i posted. I will explain step by step what i did and had on my pc while gaining root acces:
- I am working on a fresh Windows 7 64 bit pc
- I have never had any lg software installed on it (just formated my hard drives and re installed Windows)
- I have a stock non-branded Dutch LG p-880
- I connected my phone, put it in USB-Debugging mode
- Found out not all of the drivers where installed correctly
- Went to the LG website, downloaded and installed the LGMobile support tool
- In the support tool i went to instal drivers (at the right top), whent to the LGP-880 and double clicked for installing the drivers
- I had the phone connectivity switched on at LG PC Software
- Then i ran the root.bat file and nothing happend
- Changed the phone's connectivity to Charging only and ran the boot.bat file again and that did the trick.
First off all I have to mention i didn't do any development at all and credits go to kennethpenn for his ''One Click HTC One X (AT&T/Rogers/Others) (Win/Mac/Linux) root'' and to one of my close friends for telling me about the tool.
I just wanted to find out how to get root and thought, why not? So i started the script and it gave me root acces, installed SU and a Busybox.
This is how to do it:
- Download and install the LG Optimus 4x HD drivers from the LGMobile Support Tool (you can download it from LG's website or download it here) Start the program, at the top right corner press install drivers and look for the LG P880 then double klick
- Download kennethpenn's root tool here and extract it to a folder you want
- Plug your device in your computer and turn USB Debugging on: Settings, developer options, USB Debugging. Make sure your connection option is set to charge only.
- Now double click root.bat
- Your device will restart a couple of times and congratulations: You've got root
I did all of this without installing/using lg pc suite
As always, i am not responsible (neither is kennethpenn) for bricking your device.

V10b. Are you sure you installed the drivers correctly? I installed them with the LGMobile Support tool (you can download it at LG's website orhere)
Start the program, at the top right corner press install drivers and look for the LG P880 then double klick. Reconnect your phone and try again

Very strange, im on v10b Dutch stock version. Did everything on the first post and it worked within 5 minutes. All you guys installed the driver via the LGMobile software tool?
You can also try with uninstalling lg pc sync and then selecting your phones connectivity to lg software ?
I used Windows 7 64

Sry ... but this wont work.
The "data/local/" folder is locked.
Only "data/local/tmp" is open.
Possible that it worked for you... but not for most users ... no chance.
Nope not working, maybe you have a developer device

to me it does not work
