it is build from source yesterday evening..so it is #86

you're awesome!
I love your zuluzulu rom!

Something is wrong it just boots in to fastboot mode. I downloaded twice to check my download but i got same on both flashes. So this needs some checking

Same here ... wiped everything, but on first boot it freezes.
Downloading fixed version ....

hmm ok i take a look on it..
EDIT: ok, i found the problem, the kernel install script has ****ed up the initial boot....fixing it and a new upload will be there in 30 minutes.
EDIT2: uploading new/fixed version
EDIT3: New Version online

Cool, will try it now

First boot is ok now .... thanks!
But back to Stock ROM No Gmail inside and I don't know why, but I can't find Gmail in market or install Gmail over Applanet. Also a restore in TB won't work for me.

hmm i can provide you the apk file..and i will include it in the rom.
EDIT: here is the gmail.apk
i have included it in the next release of the rom

In the normal market I can't find whether Google Mail nor Gmail. In Applanet I can find Gmail 2.3.4.1, download, but the installation fails.
I extracted gmail.apk out of my TB-backup and tried to install manually. All seems to be ok, but gmail crashes direkt after launching. Restore over TB wasn't also not possible - freezes TB.

OK, I will now try to integrate gmail.apk in the update.zip before flashing. The right folder should be /gapps ? Anything more to do for me?

From Germany you cant find gmail in the Market...
You have to use the App Market Enabler from the Market!
Then use a US Provider and u will find "Google Mail" in your Market!

Looking good. However may I make a suggestion and give this ROM a different name to try and avoid confusion with the other one you have.

i rename it to ZuluGen, you are totaly right..

The fixed version runs well and is smooth so far. Maybe you could change the orange colour that shows when pressing an option in setting menu. Change it to match the blue that shows when scrolling to bottom or top of menus. Also when installing rom manager dont get installed, i checked the zip file and its in there. I also flashed this build twice and booth times no rom manager. Looking forward to follow this ro and see where it goes

NOTE:
You MUST WIPE YOUR DEVICE before flashing this ROM UNLESS you are upgrading from an earlier release. This is due to the resigning of key components with the AOSP platform key, to facilitate skinning / customising etc.

Based on the GRJ22 (2.3.4) release
Packaged for ClockworkMod 3.0.0.0+
Rebuilt using the MoDaCo MCR optimisation scripts
Includes MCK custom kernel with TUN and CIFS modules
Incorporates supercurio's EXT4 performance tweak
Full up to date Google experience + additional apps (including new look Market)
HSPA icon differentiation ('H' icon when transferring data via HSPA)
Insecure boot image
su / Superuser.apk root
Support for running scripts from /etc/init.d at startup
Terminfo support (for nano etc)
Busybox
Optional 'allow SIP over non-WiFi connections' in the kitchen
Semi-transparent notification pull-down
Optional 'Spare Parts' app
Optional radio updates (latest update recommended!)

framework-res and core libraries / apks are signed with the 'platform' certificate from AOSP, aiding those who wish to edit the framework-res / SystemUI.apk to theme. Simply extract, edit, resign with the platform certificate and push the file.
A bunch of other stuff that i've forgotten
Installation is recommended via ClockworkMod recovery, which MUST be version 3.0.0.0 or above. ENSURE YOU HAVE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING!

This ROM is now available in the online kitchen! In addition to the kitchen, a prebaked download is available.

Thanks.

Lol i just got stuck in a bootloop by trying to use the zune font from the other thread, luckily just adb in recovery and sorted stuff out
Is there anyway to get the zune font working on this rom tho? I really like it!
If I back up with Rom Manager and wipe before flashing this, will it delete my backup too?

Quick question, with my evo whenever I flashed a custom rom, I would backup my current rom, wipe everything (data and cache) then I'll flash the new rom.
Is this process the same for the Nexus S?

[ROM][AOSP][2.3.5] NoFrills-AOSP

This ROM was created by 'ngiordano' at Simply-Android
I do not develop this ROM. Do not PM or contact me about making changes.
Please thank him over there (or here, up to you) for his efforts
Donate to ngiordano here!
I can't be the only person here who has been watching, waiting, and hoping for an AOSP ROM for the Vibrant. Just something that's fast, smooth, and just works. So when I saw mindstormmaster1 post this thread in General on the NoFrills AOSP ROM a couple weeks back, I was quite excited. I've been using this as my daily driver since then, but I figure the proper place to inform the Vibrant community of its existence is here in the Development section.
So, to share it with the masses, here is ngiordano's NoFrills AOSP for the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant T959:
Built from Gingerbread source with some CyanogenMod tweaks added. I used Vibrantmtd device folder from CM for the compatibilities and fixes. This ROM is very fast and stable.
Features:
- My very own kernel (details below)
- AngryGPS for fast GPS lock
- No-Frills CPU Control
- OC to 1.3
- Voodoo sound
- BLN (No app required)
- Updated Rom Manager
- File Manager
- Theme Chooser with 2 additional themes
- Additional wallpapers
- But overall simple settings and functionality
If you are coming from a 2.3 ROM:
- Enter CWM recovery
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Go to mounts and storage, format system , go back.
- Go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache.
- Go to Install zip file, select zip file, and Install
- Reboot to system
Currently on 2.1 or 2.2 samsung roms (stock or custom):
- If you don’t have CWM recovery, Download Rom Manager and install CWM recovery
- Download Odin from here if you don't have odin already and GingerBread Bootloader
- Load GBL in PDA, click on bootloader update and reset time. Nothing else.
- Once odin says pass with a green bar, pull battery.
- Enter CWM recovery, wipe data/factory reset.
- Go to mounts and storage, format system , go back.
- Go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache.
- Go to Install zip file, select zip file, select the ROM and Install
- Reboot to system.
If your internal storage reads 0 MB after install:
- Boot to recovery
- Wipe Dalvik
- Re-flash ROM
- Fix permissions

New Kernel
http://www.multiupload.com/EG07T8S6GX
Glitch kernel was giving me issues like freezes, and the inability to use the external SD card.
I compiled this with many goodies
- SD card now works
- BLN
- OC to 1.3 GHz (Unstable anyhigher. Still very responsive)
- Usable governors (SavagedZen, smartass, interactive(X), conservative, userspace, powersave, ondemand, performance)
- Voodoo sound
- CWM 4.0.1.5
- Plus many other goodies
- Also works on CM7 and MIUI. (CM7 governors do not stick after sleep. VibrantMTD CM7 issue.)

And on a personal note, I installed an FFC on my Vibrant, so I've been using this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17277942&postcount=37
and this file:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QDC947A4
for a very good, working FFC.
There are no 4-image issues, the FFC is rotated correctly, and full 720p HD recording works as it should.

built from AOSP. CM7 for fixes.
No ****ty themes.
No extra lockscreens.
No replaced icons.
No TW touches.
No additional crap.
Not AOSP"ish".
Not starting from CM7, and then themed to standard AOSP.
Not JVQ with a gingerbread launcher and "removed" apps.
Please read.
This is as stock AOSP as I have ever seen for the Vibrant - without any of the bloat BS from CM7-sourced ROMs.
This performs identically to my Nexus S 4G. Working GPS. No lag to be found. Smooth as butter. Oh, and 911 dialing works.

Cool..
About new kernel. Do i need BLN app?
so will CM7 kernels work with this ROM? like Bali for CM7?
Not real AOSP Rom !
-> Profils
-> CM tweaks (but not CMParts)
-> CM lockscreen
-> CM Wallpapers

Yes, all CM7 and MIUI kernels/mods seem to work for this ROM.

It's quite clearly stated in the quote that this is not pure AOSP. It is, however, as close to AOSP as you're gonna see for the Vibrant. This is not built from CM7 source like the other "AOSPish" ROMs in this section. It is built from AOSP first, and has CM7 tweaks for stability or GPS to make the ROM functional.
That said, if you can find a "more" AOSP Rom for the Vibrant than this one, I would sure love to see a link. Until then, practice those reading skills.
And if you don't like this ROM, don't download it, and don't install it. Keep waiting for that "real" 100% AOSP ROM that - as yet - does not seem to exist. I'd know - i've been looking for a simple, stock, AOSP Rom for the Vibrant since this phone was released last year.
Ok ! But Why default lockscreen is rotary ? (-> CM7 source)
AOSP lock isn't present because, CMparts.apk is absent..

Glad I was able to tip xda off to this great rom(the original post was mine). I have been using it for a while now with no problems. Flashing Bali 2.1 on Nofrills 1.0 makes the SD card work. About to flash 2.0 and Ill let you know how it works after a few days. This has to be one of the best roms out there.

Not sure about the messages thing. I haven't seen that error.
I updated the original post with the latest GAPPS (20110828) which is what I'm using on my Vibrant.

I do not develop this ROM. Do not PM or contact me about making changes.
Please thank him over there (or here, up to you) for his efforts!
There was a thread in General on this ROM a couple weeks back, but I figure the proper place to inform the Vibrant community of its existence is here.
Without further ado, here is ngiordano's NoFrills AOSP for Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant T959:

Disable voodoo?
nevermind
a quick question..
as someone pointed out, GAPPS didnt install properly, it just installed market, and never asked to log in with google account and thus i guess my sync isnt working properly, i have to manually refresh gmail and cant get FB sync to work, on which i heavily depend for getting contact info, any one facing similar issues?
apart from that, i have to say, battery life is amazing, i am using bali 2.2
Does this have the notification bar shortcuts?

This ROM is based on Kalim's CM9 ROM (Thanks Kalim for letting me use it as a base for this MOD) and since I'm on it, I'll try to update it when the Kalim updates his ROM.
The ROM is themed with the Black Infinitum theme (thanks Razer) and contains my tweaks specially customized for the CM9 - can't be found anywhere else.
Inverted ICS Gapps are included.

OTA Updates:
If you want to get the notification for the new ROMs, updates over the Internet or Addons, Themes, Patches and Apps, you need to install this app. I also refer to this app as ROM Utility in my posts.
Addons:
- Stock CM9 Kernel for returning when flashing another kernel.
- Trinity Kernels - set of the Trinity Kernels booting @ 1 Ghz can be found on my ROM Utility .
- Stock ICS Gapps - 17.03.2012. Already included in Normal ROM.
- Inverted ICS Gapps - 17.03.2012. Already included in Black ROM. Includes inverted Calendar, Email, Gallery, Genie Widget, Gmail, Keyboard, MMS, GTalk, Market, Voice Search, Play Store and YouTube.
- Google Play Music - 4.1.513. It removes CM9 Music and installs Google Play Music.
- Minimal Icons Theme - install these to get the look like on the Screenshot.
- Metro Icons Theme - great set of icons that can be seen here.
- Minimal Launchers Theme - install these when updating the launchers. Launchers need to be installed as system apps.
Benchmark - v1 with the stock kernel and stock speeds.

Sweet! I recall you working with AndroidUser to get the CNA framework inverted but I was disappointed that none of the apps were inverted in addition.
I can imagine this theme saving everyone battery life. Going to test this out against Pete's BuglessBeast. Thanks.

Stick with the default CM9 v5 installed with the ROM.
In my opinion its the best and fastest kernel with the stock speeds.

I am having a bit of an issue. I tried to install the Heytell app from the market and it says its not compatible with my device. It has worked on every other rom i have installed. Could this be because its the inverted market? Do you think if i use root explorer and install the stock play store that this might solve this? Thanks

Cyanogenmod 9
By Jordfaz
The Rom entitled MiniCM9 is ported from the sony xperia X10 mini which i believe is faster and has a few more settings.
I made this because i wanted an up-to-date version of CM 9 which doesnt have loads of apps slowing it down, so this is CM 9.1 with many apps removed which are not important and which you won't miss. This is based on a device with the same screen density (LDPI) so there is no size issues as everything is LDPI. This rom does not include gapps, so flash them after you have installed the rom.
Original rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629334
Features
- Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4)
- Nova Launcher
- Theme chooser
- Customisable lockscreen and statusbbar
- Performance settings
- Apollo music player
- Fully LDPI, no size issues
- Slimmed down, under 80mb!
- MiniCM9 settings
- More settings by me (Future releases)
Bugs
- Panoramic Camera
- HQ youtube

- nobodyAtall
- DaRk_dOg

I just updated it to the latest CM 9.1 and removed useless apps.
Will look for fixes in the future, but for now enjoy CM9.1
Im the first to try.
It's seem cool let's say if that rom is better than cm9.0
I just installed it too. I'm very much impressed so far. But please check automatic brightness. It's not available under display settings.
Thanks for testing guys, in terms of speed, is this faster than other ics roms?
And I just noticed that automatic brightness is missing, not sure why though
Running pretty nice and smooth so far.one thing I've noticed, quickpic doesn't seem to work being system app.AFAIK it needs some lib to work as a system app.

Cannot install with clockworkmod 2.5. That's a shame, I do no want to update it..
Anyway, I would like to have fixed (proper size) the lockscreen in Erwins CM9, do you know whether it can be done by replacing some files? Do you know which files to replace?

Just a thought but wouldn't it be much better to combine your efforts and instead of creating a new ROM providing your updates to Erwin's version?
