Installing Dalingrin's kernal after root. - Nook Color General

I recently rooted my NC to CM7 using the latest stable rom. While I was rooting it I forgot to download Dalingrin's (sp?p) So, I want to install it now. I dowloaded to file to my SD card, and I rebooted into recovery mode. Then I navigated to the file and opened it up and rebooted. Now for the stupid question; How do I know if it installed? I don't see any additional icons or anything. If it did work, how do I access the settings? The main thing I want it for is to fix the sound through the headphones and speaker.

Look at the performance settings, if you can oc to 1200, then you have the new kernel.
The "stock" cm7 is capped at 925.

Unless I'm wrong, I don't think the latest Dalingrin's OC kernel works with the Stable ROMs until 7.1 is released, right now it's only the nightlies.
See the pink text under Kernel Downloads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925451

I guess that explains why it didn't seem to do anything Thanks guys.

You could try flashing the older .29 kernel, I think that one works with the stable releases. Sorry, I didn't think of that earlier.

[Q] cm7 nightlies

I have CM7 7.0.3 on my nook color. There has been alot of nightlies since then and I heard that one of the more recent nightlies lets the nook go to sleep mode to save batt life. My question is can I just install the one nightly i want or do I have to install all of the ones before it too?
Just the nightly you want.
Just the one you want
Still rocking the Incredible with the XDA Premium App.
FYI anything above nightly 78 you need uboot 1.2 and kernel .32 Also there have been more than a few people that have been having problems with wifi on several of the latest nightlys. I would recommend to flash nightly 78 latest gapps and ext4 4/24 Oc kernel assuming you have the latest clockworkmod recovery. You will benefit from way better battery even though its not fully at deep sleep.

Nightly 86+ has a custom uboot that installs with the nightly.

Are you able to overclock your NC using that combination? I have gone through the same steps multiple times on my device (upgrading from 7.0.2), using the exact same combination you list above, but my device won't OC above 925MHz.
Just wondered if your system is allowing OC above 925...
I'm able to oc to 1200 MHz with above combo

Yes, over clocking to 1100 just because 1200 is alittle new. Make sure you have the latest OC rom from darlingrin. It should be dated somewhere around 5/24 0r 5/25 I forget for sure but it's one of those dates. The older roms didn't work with 7.0.3. don't know if there was a prob with 7.0.2.
Which nightlies support Netflix?
[edit] nevermind. I found this thread. [/edit]
Any CM7 supports Netflix, but you will need to do the build.prop edit.

That's so weird. I seem to be using the exact same build as everyone else...getting no errors on install, but can't overclock above 925MHz....
Did you just install the kernel by copying the ZIP file to an SD card, then booting CWM??

[Q] Latest Phiremod OC kernel?

Hey guys, loving CM7, but the nightly im using has a few quirks(no bluetooth, shuts off at 15% battery). I had tried phiremod before, but it didnt include any recent kernels and was stuck at 925mhz. So, i went back to what i had with the amazing 1300mhz. Since im trying it again, where would i get the latest oc kernel for the latest version of phiremod?
I forgot to ask, do CM7 specific kernels also work? If so, i feel stupid.
Pherimod is cm7+themes+apps so yeah cm7 kernels will work.

[Q] UV/OC

Hey guys I'm a bit new to OC/UV and I need a little clarification regarding it. I'm using Onix Kernel on Andromeda3 overclocked to 1.2 ghz and lets say I wanted to switch the rom or kernel. Is it necessary to delete the settings? Do I just delete the app before flashing the new kernel/rom?
Nope, no need to uninstall the voltage control app. Just flash your new kernel and you'll be good to go. Be aware that if you open the app again on a kernel that does not allow oc, you'll get a friendly " bazinga" message telling you that the kernel is not supported.
Continuum 5.5 and existz's latest......
Thanks man, helps a lot

It is not necessary sometimes, But sometimes it is. Especially if the voltages for the kernel change at ll, that would make your previous 'stable' settings possibly not so stable- resulting in a bootloop or any other crashing. Its always safe practice to remove your boot settings before flashing a new kernel. If that kernel is OC/UV capable and your settings stick, but aren't good for that particular build- you may find yourself having to delete those settings anyway.
You can grab the file in my sig and flash from recovery if you accidentally save settings as boot- or forget to remove your settings- It's a nice gem to have on your SD card if your an Overclocker. NOTE: It will only flash in CWM3.x. So if your running a gingerbread ROM- you can use the zip file

Flashed CM9 with glitch kernel, still have to root?

Ok, I just flashed cyanogenmod 9 with the glitch v14 beta kernel. Amazingly fast and smooth. One problem, my phone doesn't seem to be rooted...Doesn't cm9 and the glitch kernel root your phone automatically? Or did something go wrong?
Can I just use superoneclick to root it now? Or will that screw everything up?

Instead of superoneclick, try to download superuser app from the Market first.
Sent from my sgs
I already have superuser installed, it's just for managing apps that require root, not for rooting itself.
Normallary its rooted now, if you flashed the Glitch Kernel v14

Really? Damn it. You think I should reflash the kernel? If I look at the phone's information the kernel version is icy glitch v14, so it flashed fine I guess.

Hi, i have tested all the Glitch kernels extensivly and they all give me same result sooner or later, sometimes even at first reboot, they go into bootloops and there is NO way to access CWM
I would surely try the newest Devil kernel 14.2 witch is soo awesome and smooth
Had it a couple days now, and NO problems at all
The Devil rocks
Strange stuff. I tried superoneclick, but according to it the phone is already rooted...which isn't the case.
Will try to reflash the kernel with glitch. If that doesn't solve the problem i might try devil.

how to overclock the Cappy

our cappy is fast as it is on 4.2 but i have yet to overclock a phone yet and i hear its not like taking the risk of OC your computer so i would like to try it out on the cappy first. so i have googled this already and it comes up with somone already OC it to 1.2 ghz which i would be fine with but in order to OC you need to flash a kernal i think it said? i am not fimilular with kernals with all of the phones i have messed with i have yet to touch kernals, the only time i have flashed a kernal (had a interesting custom recovery) was to root my cappy to put CM on it and got CWM after. i dont see the points of them other than more customization which im not interested in, so how would i go about doing this can someone help me out please?

You do indeed need a custom kernel that allows it. Flashing them is fairly simple, you just need a Odin flashable version if you don't wanna go the custom ROM way.
Make sure that your kernel is made for the current version your phone is running and that it's for the I897! As per your signature, Corn kernel would be your best option as it is for GB.

as of last night i flashed Cyangenmod to get CWM and then flashed paranoid android 3.99, mines a I896 btw i think since i got a bootloop its on At&t/firmware. (only useing on wifi for now) i had corn kernel before to get a recovery and root but if i want to OC it would i have to get corn kernel again? it was a pretty slow boot up every time i turned it on with the stock rom.
No you don't have nor want to. Corn is for GB, if you flashed CM, you're probably on JB.
You'll just have to flash a JB kernel that allows OC (like devil).

Buddy, read carefully what kernels are compatible with what ROMs and what Android versions.
The information you need is already available here on XDA in Captivate Android Development section.

so i was looking through some of my stuff on my cappy (cyangenmod 10.1.3 on it) and i looked at the performance option and it has the option to overclock it to 1.2 GHz, would i have to flash a special kernel? or am i fine like this?
Default CM kernel supports 1.2GHz step overclock, just set it and test for stability issues. Nothing else is needed.

first of all the t211 is a tablet not a phone . you have a dual core clocked at 1.2ghz im sure thats pretty fast i think its because you have too many apps. if you still want to overclock ask at the q&a section of its offical forums here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3 . cyanogenmod sometimes have the option to overclock their devices, i would check that out as well

OC is a kernel option so simply flash a kernel that allows it. That being said, you're not on the right sub-forum like Trozzul mentioned. Be sure to flash one for your tablet. OC has its disadvantages so make sure you read about it before going through with it.
