Default e-mail program - LG Optimus Black

hi
i have this problem that android 2.2.2 default email program does not show inbox mail after some days. how i can to that, phone does not lose it and show so much time when i delete?
with 1.6 android (HTC Tattoo) i did not have this kind problem.

Same here, it shows only the e-mails of about 2 last days, it's configured to an exchange mailbox. Isn't enough of a issue for me to use alternate software. I heard that Moxier is good but it isn't for free, but there are definitly some nice free alternatives.

have anyone idea what is good replacement e-mail program and its easy to use and works like it should?

do a quick google search for the deafult android 2.2 email client, worked wonderfully for me

did you check settings->email-account->synchronisation periode???

yes, i have change all settings what i can. as i understand, default mail program holds in phone inbox only two days emails. after that older than two days are gone.

Default works good for me with my enterprise accounts.
I've gmail and yahoo accounts too, and I use their own apllications for good.

My gmail is fine, or try K9 mail..

I think your right but I hope your wrong. The old version 1.X of yahoo go worked great with your mail in outlook. does yahoo allow you to forward your mail? Looks like I am getting a hotmail account.
I searched for a way to do this too. Unfortunately the only free options are:
1. YGo - kinda sucks, push doesn't work, and i don't even get mail manually for 1-4 hours (i tested)
2. get a [email protected]o.co.uk and you get pop3 access, but you get an ad mail every day (or week, can't remember) - seems best solution, but requires that you change your mail adress, unless you already have a .co.uk adress
3. get a IM application which tells you that you have mail (i don't remember which one does, i think i had two that did that) but you don't even get the title of the mail, nevermind the message.
After getting tired, i coughed up the 20$ / year about 2 hours ago, and pop3 works like a charm
any way to sync the calendar from yahoo like you could in the old version as well? if you pay does it allow you to do this?
i don't know, but i don't think so. they say for 20$ you get POP3, forwarding (goood), 20M per message (instead of 10) and some filters... check the website
Maybe its different in some regions, but in UK, as long as you go into the yahoo mail web interface, click on options and select pop forwarding, you can then use either imap or pop/smpt to access your mail on wm devices.
I use my yahoo mail on my device fine.
i already said that yahoo.co.uk is different
dang, I am more interested in the calendar than the email, cause i can use the web interface if I need the mail but I like yahoo syncing with my calendar
i think you can "export"your calendar to outlook, from the web page, in options. try that

No (real) push email even with Xpress Mail!!

After dealing with buggy versions of Windows Live (I got one version to work reasonably well with push, though it's spotty), I decided to try
Xpress Mail after reading that it has improved.
I set it up on my AT&T Fuze (stock ROM) to use my Gmail account and soft-reset. It's set up to do push by default. I sent myself three test e-mails and, of course, none of them came to my phone immediately. It took anywhere from five to 15 minutes for an e-mail to come through.
After I performed a manual send/receive I sent myself a couple more e-mails and NOTHING! They all came super late.
I know some folks on here are having no problems with their e-mail, but why the hell is it so hard for others to get our push e-mail going?
I've always been under the impression that "push" mail only works with an Exchange Server... and it works well with my business e-mails. I check gmail through IMAP which is an improvement overPOP3, but still needs to poll the server on a schedule.

Push email is a service provided by the email carrier or vendor, exchange works very good with push because I use it on a daily basis. GMail (as far as I know) does not offer Push, what Xpress mail does is poll (via IMAP) to gmail and pushes the emails once Xpress has received it rather then having your phone do the polling.
Are you serieus? Why my w810i/k850i/w960i all used pushmail service from Gmail? So yes it have pushmail for shure, only MS don't like the idea of not using exchange for it and now we all have to suffer for that :S

i'm using Mobipush(.com) with satisfaction.
Ciao
I have windows live set up on ROMeOS and I'm having no problem with push. Sometimes I send CABs to myself so i can get them on my phone and it always happens instantly.

If MS didn't like the idea of not using exchange... they wouldn't allow outlook to get mail from pop3/imap. If that's suffering you need to expand your horizons a bit... Sorry for the rant, just tired of anti-MS (not that I'm a big fan). Credit where credit is due.
I didn't read the RFC, but I don't think IMAP supports "push". There is a new proposal for Push-IMAP (P-IMAP) based on IMAP4... Android OS seems to support "push" Gmail and iPhones have some proprietary hooks to get "push" Gmail. So "push" Gmail is out there...

Emoze - www.emoze.com offers not only G'Mail "pushed" but also access to G'Apps too!!!!!
.
IMAP IDLE can be called Push-Mail.
The email client can stay in contact with the IMAP server, which tells the client that there is new mail.
Unfortunately, Outlook Mobile does NOT support IMAP IDLE.
ImapPusherService adds this functionality, but it's still an early version...
I'm not satisfied with Xpress email either. I've only added my main Gmail on so far for testing, but I have several more I want to monitor. With my Treo 680 I had no problem with email monitoring. During Mon-Fri daytime I monitor all my accts with thunderbird portable and therefore don't want email being picked up by the phone too. I set up the custom time settings in Xpress to not do this and yet, email still came through. Also it often picks up old mail - mail that was sent several days ago that I'd already read via POP on thunderbird, etc. I don't want to deal with this ridiculousness. I don't need instant Push per se, but at least the ability to set an account to check every five minutes. Would I be able to replace Xpress with Emoze, FlexMail, ProfiMail, or other email apps smoothly? As in replace it on my email tab easily?
I've had no issued with xpress mail. I'm actually participating in their beta program and have hotmail, yahoo and my work lotus notes mail pushing. A lot of times I will get mail on my htc touch pro before my Notes client on my laptop pulls in the mail.
The big ting I'm looking for (for my wifes phone) is a solution that can push contacts and calendar from yahoo, hotmail or gmail.
Lastly I wish one of these solutions would some how include a script or something triggering your VPN client. When I'm away from my desktop I need the connector to reconnect to the work mail server but it can't without me manually starting my vpn client.
Maybe I need to learn how to write a script to not own launch my VPN client but also to click on connect...
For everyone that claims Gmail doesn't offer push, if i connect the first time to it via imap on every latest model (later then w810i) it says 'gmail offers pushmail, activate it on this phone?'... it workes really great (on a SE phone) but MS don't like us to use other clients...
It just sucks, and of there was a real solution for this (a real program instead of ms outlook) it wil be used by almost everyone with wm i quess!
I wanted to throw out some names: I use Seven's Beta for my university (Yale) IMAP push. I also use Funambol to synchronize contacts, tasks, notes, calendar with Outlook.
Alternatives for Push Gmail include Emansio, Emoze, IMAP-pusher service, Mobipush.
I've posted on this issue extensively, so just do a search!
Okay so I need to know which is better:
Seven?
eMoze?
Mobipush?
Emansio?
I currently use seven and don't like that it can't set times to push the data (say every hour). It just leaves a time on to push. Like a time period. How is mobipush or emoze?

Be frank forget all above. there is 2 best option you can have.
1) get mail2web.com account: they offering free exchange service.( my opionen best for free only negative point.. the mails that you send hve the extension [email protected]
2) flexmail software:I think best email client but takes some memory. with that you can download you mail (gmail) IMAP and IDLE which is kinda pushmail. it take 1 minute to arrive on you device.

Seriously? Why? I have a yahoo account. And I've been using SEVEN so far, and it gets my mail faster than my mail counter on my yahoo widgets can count.

Hotmail Syncing

Sorry if this has been addressed already, but I thought it relevant so I'm posting it here. I've always used just my GMail account with the native app and it's worked fine so I never really bothered with my Hotmail account since it's only POP mail and I feel that having it poll my Inbox every 15mins drains the battery heavily. But I read this morning that they've just started rolling out the new Windows Live Hotmail Wave 4 today, which includes Exchange ActiveSync support for Push email and Account syncing for Calendar and Contacts.
As it's being rolled out in clusters, my account hasn't been upgraded yet. But I decided to try to set up my account to Push anyways and it seems like it's working fine.
If you want to do the same in the Stock Email App, Add a New Account. Then input your Email Address and Password then hit the Manual Setup button and Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and use these settings:
Domain\Username: \username@hotmail.com
Password: password
Server: m.hotmail.com
Use Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
Accept all SSL Certificates: No
hit Next, then make sure the Email Check Frequency is set to Automatic (Push) and then just set your other sync options. (I've only synced mail since my contacts and calendar are synced with GMail).
I'm sure some things will change when my account actually gets the upgrade, but for now, it's basically all I need.
Full Disclosure: I'm on 2.2 and using the stock Email App for this. I don't know how this will impact 2.1 or if you're using K9 or Touchdown, etc. so feel free to post you results.
Just tried your settings with the 2.1 email app and it's no go.
Just tested...
...and it works! Running 2.2 (FRF50).
Even though I rarely use it and that it's mostly used for pretty useless mail it's still nice that it works, finally.

Using stock 2.1 update 1, it works except there's no calendar option(should only available in 2.2), but the server is not very stable, need a few more retry to connect
Must be why it failed then.
2.2 you can add with out having to change any settings.
Do you know the setting to use in any other apps? The stock mail app doesnt allow showing html pictures, so i'd prefer to use k-9 or touchdown...
THANKS!!

Worked for me on 2.1 email app. Now, how do I get a widget to show me the unread count?
Finally MS do something useful to their antiquated service!
Tried it, but doesn't work (yet)
Do you get an e-mail when your account is upgraded?
Guess that is cool if it works, but you can only have 1 Exchange Activesync account on any device...that includes iPhone, WinMo etc...
Has this stopped working for anyone? I'm just getting 'unable to connect to server' now.
Same here, getting the "Unable to open connection to server."-message now.
The wierd thing is that yesterday I got the little yellow bar up top in Hotmail telling me to restart the browser to try the new version (which is what actually got me to try this) but nothing really changed, rollback?

Technically true, but two Push accounts can be accomplished on both Android & WinMo(windows live + exchange)
For us with X10's who are stuck with version 1.6 of Android,
What are the settings to get this working in K9? Has anyone successfully got it working with that mail prog?
Thanks!
Still not working here. Go Microsoft
Small update:
My Hotmail account was upgraded to Wave 4 this morning... Hotmail via Exchange? Still no go. It worked for about an hour back on 17th June, and nothing since.
Well it's all working again now
so its real push service?
if yes i need try this
i wa susing SEVEN but lack of html =(
Yes, it's proper push.

[Q] Email problem

Hi i'm new to android.I recently bought milestone and try to sunc my emails.
With my Tellas acount(a company in greece) emails works just fine. But when i try to sunc hotmail it downloads the messages ok.I delete the unnesesary ones. But the problem is that when i reboot the phone i find out that email's are missing and downloaded again even the deleted ones,or the client crashes and loses all emails.
Anyone had experience the same problem with a hotmail account? Is it the software or a faulty device???
Thats probablt got somthing to do with your Hotmail settings, and not the phone. I use Hotmail, and it works fine after disabling POP and enabling IMAP folders via the PC. try that.
Thanks that worked. After search found out that android 2.1 is not compatible with pop3 hotmail. So thank you again you save me because i'm almost never home.

That's not fully correct. Android is a platform. What helps you with mail is just the application. It does not matter it commes preinstalled as you can easily replace it with other (btw: give K9 mail app a try). Android got nothing to do with 3rd party mail servers not following world defined standards (there shall be no "hotmail pop3" but just POP3 standard). If you can use imap - try it instead but beware account quota. I've also read some too frequent pooling from hotmail (like more often than 15 mins) may cause problems.

[Q] Mail client allowing for multiple folder syncing

Hi Guys,
I am trying to find an email client which supports Microsoft Exchange / Activeysinc, and which can support multiple folders syncing. Right now i am using Note's stock email app, which is reasonable, but will only update the Inbox.
I however, have a large folder structure coupled with many server rules which automatically move the mails into their designated folder, so only updating the inbox is definetly not enough for me, because i can receive new emails in those folders but the mail client will not alert me when they arrive... instead, you have to go in each folder and update it manually, which is a real pain.
So, back to the original question: can you point me to an advanced email client who can do the above (automatically sync all folders and alert me when i receive new message in all of them, not only in inbox).
Many thanks in advance for your help!
regards,
devlin-ro
Moxier Mail. Not cheap for the priviledge but it does as you ask and has a trial so you can test it before you buy.
I really like Touchdown by NitroDesk. You can sync any folders you want, and works for not only email, but also other Exchange functions. It's kind of expensive, but I find it's often on sale at the Amazon app store.

I like touchdown except for a couple things:
One, in the sea of settings, there's no setting to have it default to classic view; I have to switch manually each time I open the app. I like the newer view except that in portrait mode most of the screen is wasted space. I want more emails shown.
Two, poor battery life. There were other contributors, but I disabled push, switching to polling once every 24 hrs, and better battery stats still showed a huge number of wake locks. So now I keep it frozen with titanium backup until I really need it, like doing a server search.

I agree with you there. I currently have the version from the Android App store, which doesn't have that option for the view. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that couldn't find a way to turn it off.
I've been watching BetterBatteryStats, and I haven't had an issue with it using up my battery. Actually, K9 Mail is the one that kills mine.
Hi to all of you!
Many thanks for your replies. I actually tried Moxier and Touchdown, but I could not configure Moxier while Touchdown worked like a breeze... so I stayed with Touchdown. Currently I am using it in evaluation period and it looks ok to me (does what I need). I configured it to only update manually, so I did not see any issues with battery (so far, at least).
Once again, many thanks for the sugestions!
All the best,
Devlin-ro
