[Q] how do I USB teather on 2.3.5 - GT540 Optimus Android Development

Hi I want to USB teather but it said that the kernel does not support it.
Any ideas or fixes for this. I'm using 2.3.5 and my pc is windows xp. Here's what it said the kernel needs.
This means that the Linux kernel on your device does not have the features (CONFIG_NETFILTER/CONFIG_IP_NF_IPTABLES and/or RNDIS) required for tethering. If you have an ADP G1, please read (or ADP16KernelUpdate if you're using Donut), otherwise you will need to find a firmware/kernel with these features.
lol doesn't mean nothing to me can anyone help.

Do you have Windows? Then just use this
http://geekfor.me/new-release/fresh-kitchen-105/
Although I am extremely reluctant to post that. Since you are incapable of searching and you didn't really post a specific question then I am going to guess that we will be seeing a ***** and moan thread in the next couple of days of how you screwed up your phone.
To try and prevent one major screw up... Make sure you have a CDMA Hero!!! and only put ROMs for a CDMA hero if you in fact have that phone. There is also a GSM hero and if you flash one of those ROMs or radios onto a CDMA then you will completly brick your phone and no one will be able to help you.
There are guides in the wiki.

theres probably 7 different ways to root and I believe Fresh's Kitchen at www.geekfor.me will auto root. Please use the search forum button before posting new threads.

oh well
Didn't work for me just told me application not installed, tried through astro
Try putting it in the system/app folder and rebooting..
if yoor on the stock rom ur gonna need the odex file too.. If on thriller rom you shouldnt need it... Odds are though that the whole lg real 3d core has changed with the new uodate and other things will need to be ported to our older firmware... Odds are 98 percent... This will not work on the 10e firmware yet

Ya that's what I've been reading but they have the 10j (I believe). We should see a custom rom by the end of the weekend in the 03d forums

I copied and pasted the apk to system/app and rebooting but still not showing up in applications or anything. I suppose ill just wait until it gets integrated into a rom or something. I am on thriller 1.03

I've had the same thing happen with other apps before. What I found to work is put the phone in recovery and mount /system. Then adb push the .apk to /system/app. I haven't tried it with this particular app but its worked with others for me in the past. Also if that doesn't work use the same process bit push it to /data/app.

Install an O3D Rom, I recommend ThiaiZ 1.5, and the converter will come pre-installed. The converter only works on 10J (and above) firmware btw.

[devq] dev question

Guys, i am gonna make a ROM
So, i need majority suggestions.
Here is what i suggest. Please counter-suggest me.
AndroidOS v1.6
Features:
iOS Like(Everything. Inclu. Notifications center)
Undervolt to 600MHz
RAM consumption(MAX 100MB, which means you have 378MB Free)
Undefeatable battery life
V6 Supercharged
3G Optimized.
KICKEDASSED Kernel
If you want to know why I choose 1.6, it is due to its lightness.

Donut? You seem to start on the harder side buddy. What I can suggest before making leaps and bounds is create a ROM on sources that are available. I am not here to discourage you, but you should know what you are trying to make. People who started cooking/deving here (including me) learned from simple things first.
My question to you is have you made a bootable personal ROM regardless of version or make? I am no dev, but I can suggest...
1. Start learning to deodex.
2. Start learning creating/cooking your personal ROM. (CM7/V20stock)
3. If you successfully created your own ROM, start installing Linux and learn to compile.
4. Share the ROM and ask for opinion.

Noob!! You can use a virtual box; and doesn't matter if you have windows 8, 7, vista or xp, you can still partition a HD and multiboot. As time goes by, every post you do makes you look even more noob.

Windows can't. Tools can.
But what if your PC is really incompatible? Use VMs.

I better liked your idea of porting ios.
Im also waiting for new threads where you start porting beos and amiga os and others. I would love to run dungeon master nativly.
Also remember: before you have anything done create new thread in dev section - let the people know that you are not sleeping.
And before starting actual development someone should make cool logo and boot animation - without those things every project will fail.

Why dont you simply install some tether apps? Test them and tell us, if they worked, or not
There is a definite solution that I have found works on the xda forums called usb tether 3.4x or something. Google it on xda and u should find it.
I can confirm it works.

[Q] Firefox os on x8?

Hey there
Is it possible to experience Firefox os on our wonderful phone?
Any developers working on this?

ok,
seems interesting but im not that optimistic about it(firefox os)...
I'm not interested in this thing, so I'm neutral. As I see feherneoh have more knowledge about android than the most "dev", but I don't know this is enough or not to reach his own goals.
Try to be optimistic, maybe another dev join to this project.

Haha, look what I found, first Firefox os phone is made by ZTE which is using an arm6 processor & 250 MB of ram .
So it's compatible with a6 CPU & maybe our tiny RAM memory

From what I have read it seems that Firefox os will be for low budget devices, but the low budget device before 2(maybe 3) years(x8) and the low budget now are very different...lets wait
