Call drop issues - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flashed my captivate the other day to 2.3.3
kernel version 2.6.35.7-I897uckf1-CL273832
build gingerbread.uckf1
baseband I9000UGJL2
for some reason everytime i get a call it rings once then i lose all signal and it sends the caller to vm. I know its a modem issue and i have searched high and low. can someone please give me the steps to fix this issue please.
EDIT: I did a factory reset and it fixed the issue but When I answer calls now or make outgoing I cannot hear anything through the phone and through the speaker. PLEASE HELP

U need to install an i897 modem instead of the i9000 u have. Modems and Kernels have to be matched... i897/i897 and i9000/i9000.

Modem Stickied Thread Link U will have to back out to the Title of the Thread to see the modems that are behind the paperclip. Try the cwm3 uckf1. U can download it and extract the "modem.bin" out of it and open Odin3 v1.81 and place the modem.bin in the Phone slot and having already connected ur phone in download mode, hit start. Then u should be good to go.
View attachment 693540

so i found the KF1.zip and the KE3.zip and put them in the root of the phone and tried to do them with CWM and i keep getting an error during insall. any other suggestions or links to get the file so i can use odin to do it or any other trick to get back to stock modem just to get it working again.

i see a uckb1 but not the one you said. can you email me the file please im at [email protected] thanks for the help

If you have CWM, you can use the following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10188028&postcount=177
If you don't. Check the sticky for the stock JL2 firmware, unzip it and you'll find the JL2 modem in there.

I want the JL2 modem too, thanks.
I am going the ODIN way. so I guess I just leave the PIT empty, without re-partition and just put the modem file in PHONE seciton and press start? or I need to flash with the PDA i m using right now too? sorry for the question. I am on JPJ now and wanna get back JL2 to get my 850 WCDMA signal back.
Yes, that'll work fine. Just tick modem, choose the file and flash it.

galaxy tab dead

Well as the title says. My GT has died ..... Fuy to put a rom and I fault the burden of odin rom. Odin gave me FAILED. And where is the blue bar downloding stood. Remove the wire and give the keys and power vol-I got a tablet with a PC and a triangle in the middle. I did a total reset to odin and reloaded and I recognized the table with those marks mentioned and I reloaded. with the same result. I say good because if I load this rom will be posting JM6 say that fixes everything. odin Todal tells me the "reset" and "pass " say COOL! SOLVED. Nothing is further from the truth. I have been on the screen that says "GALAXY Tab" and there does not happen. Try the ROM put him "BROKEN V4"with the same fate .... Probe with the kernel of "overcome " not at all a kernel of MoDaCo for the theme of recovery if the recovery was installed and nothing in odin ... FAIL. The fact is that this might not dead yet it let me access the DOWLOADIG. I think there must be something BOOT.ini. but the ideas are beyond me. if they could resurrect a DHD. but as a tab ... if not with your help I can do little more
install the JM6 and I get the picture but then stays Galay SAMSUNG TAB AND DOWN ... not start see image of odin

My Tab was once in a state like this with the exclamation mark and picture of the little pc. I believe it's fixable, and I also think that it's actually harder to permanently brick these things than would first seem. I remember I even had an error during repartitioning, surely that would have been curtains but it wasn't.
This was my experience, and in my post I link to another post that contains some useful information on getting out of that error: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12719559&postcount=13
Try it like this
Uncheck repartition
Remove the pit file
Do not add anything for the 'Phone' and 'CSC' portion.
Just flash the PDA section.
See if that works.

Help Please

I have a Bell Galaxy S running docmod"s rom. All of a sudden my phone shut off and now will only display the white "Galaxy S GT-I9000M" screen in a continuous two second loop. I can get into download mode and have tried using odin to restore Bell's firmware but it doesn't correct the problem. I've also tried searching and haven't come across anything to help. Is there anything I can do or is it bricked?

[Q] P1000 Brick

Sorry for the long thread but please read and help me !
Sorry moderators i tried looking for my post didnt find where you placed it. so making a new and clear where i'll tell what i ve done to my tablet.
firstly my p1000 was froyo 2.2 and i didnt checked that and tried to upgrade it to jelly bean, that was the first stupidity of my.
while doing that i faced many problems and concluded that it was brick.
how ever i had rooted my phone with super one click root..
later when it was bricked i again rooted it with cwm recovery by help of cmd.
then it was more complex, i then tried to roll it back and installed the firmware but the firmware i installed was wrong region again it went more complex.
then from some thread, i again used odin and pit it and installed some other firmware. that didnt work so i did something with heimdall suite as it was instructed and mess something with zImage thing.. all failed.
now i ve finally came up with no solution and thinking what the mess i ve done.
please help me.
now odin dont recognize the phone.
the phone is booting till the samsung welcome screen i can also listen the sound.
it also goes to cwm recovery screen and also goes to downloading screen.
please tell me a way so that it can go to normal i am happy with 2.2 froyo only.
tell me a way, please give me download links so that i dont mess it again.
remember odin not accepting it, i ve charged the phone fully and also installed the samsung usb drivers but its not helping..

You can extract modem.bin from the rom that you have downloaded.

i did that... but still not able to make any calls. my sim card is working on other phone though.
have tried flashing modem.bin and also tried copy and paste in vendor folder.
but its not working searching all over the forum but i dont know what to do
Settings>about tablet>Status> Service state : out of service / Mobile network state : disconnected / MDN : unknown
Where did you get the modem.bin from and which network you belong to.
I recommend starting by looking at gb stock safe, when you unpack there are a few modem.bin
Start with JPZ modem and stick it in /radio/ if latest cm10
Or to /system/vendor for slightly older one.

in gb stock safe, it was jpz modem file.. which i used to flash and it was flashed very well and there was no problem in anything.
later on when i upgraded for 4.1.1 it was also installed normally with no problem the only problem i encountered is i cant make any calls from it.
even the imei number is changed of my phone.
i also sticked the file in system/vendor .. i tried with the both file the jpz which i had from gb stock file and another from the firmware.
well now i trying to go for the latest cyanogen 4.1.1 hope everything get normal in it, and try to stick file in radio.
can you tell me particularly which file to copy and where ?
in gb stock jpz worked fine.. should i go for it ?
yes the same jpz modem.bin file into /radio/modem.bin
the one in the CM10 might be corrupted, who knows.

It might be the actual stock ROM (I didn't check that particular file you mentioned) but in general the stock ROM for this phone comes in four files which begin with the following:
AP, CP, CSC, BL
You can load those in their corresponding spots in Odin (BL in bootloader, and so on)
Or you can head over to sammobile and download the stock firmware, which is a Samsung Kies dump file. This is one giant tar ball ( like the one in the video) which you'll just load into the PDA section of Odin 3.09 and flash away.
When you're clicking on ODIN are you running it as Admin? Also see the guy in the video using a USB 2 cable.
yes i am running as admin. it only works when i only use pda. when i put in the bl and csc and cp is keeps failing. after if flashed the pda file the phone reboots and freezes on the samsung screen. should i try doing it one by one?
it wont work still failing. should i flash one by one?
I did but i cant load it. i only get to the samesung logo and it freezes. only thing i can get into is download mode and the stock recovery. is there a way to boot into safestrap when phone is off? im running out of ideas and ive tried to do it on different computers and cords.
it seems like the bootloader file is the only one not working. do you have any idea? please please please help guys

Download the G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.rar. Unzip and you should get this file "G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.tar.md5". Now Run Odin 3.09 as admin, and put your phone in download mode. In Odin click on the AP icon and point to the G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.tar.md5. Wait until Odin finishes loading the file it takes some time. Plug usb cable to your phone while in download mode. Once Odin is ready click start. Wait until Odin is done. Your phone will reboot once the flash is done. Please Thank @muniz_ri for his hard work.
Yea. Prolly should have checked this forum before you went on the journey.

Now, Instead of making sarcastic comments, I will provide some assistance. There is one thing left out of all of these tutes that took me a while to catch on to. As a result, my phone was doing the same thing.
When you follow the downgrade instructions, yes leave out the boot loader. Sometimes, the downgrade doesn't do the job properly, so you'll have to go to this thread, scroll to the very bottom post and you'll see a link for "G900A_NCE_Stock_Modem"
You will need to flash this along with the stock firmware. It should correct the boot issue. (Flash in PDA slot)
Furthermore, you will not be able to update via WiFi OTA. You'll have to download the official update files in .zip format.
Go to this thread for the " G900A_NCEtoNG3_OTA.zip" to update from NCE to NG3.
This next step is optional, but it won't hurt to try it. Go here and grab the stock NG3 modem and recovery. Flash each (one at a time) in the PDA slot.
My personal opinion of the 4.4.4 update is low. There are many issues with it. But if you're trying get the phone completely up to date then:
Go here for the final update.
You should now be set. Please thank @muniz_ri for his unrelenting dedication to helping others.
It is not my intention to be an ass, but you should begin with google, and then search entire AT&T forum before posting questions like this. Chances are, others have had the same problem, asked, and received a solution exactly like this.
Anyways, I hope I was able to guide you in the right direction...
Edit: It seems that both of the update zips are in the OA1 root guide thread.
P.S.
Your phone is from AT&T, right?
