ClockWork Recovery5.0 - Thunderbolt Themes and Apps

CWR5.0 is the newest and Boi I would luv a Theme as Vibrant as that..It resembles Cyan but w/a splash of Neon sprinkled on it..Given it a Metallic Blue look..Absolutely Beautiful..Has anyone seen it yet?I wish a Good Themer can make a theme like that that's universal to Froyo, GB and CM7

How did you get the updated version? I update through ROM Manager and it says I have the most current version.

i like the new neon cyan color.

be cautious with the new update some are having issues with backup and restore. It is supposedly not restoring everything. Some had to do a factory reset

I had an issue where unable to restore a rom b/c it couldn't read the script -- updated rom manager on the market and have used both cwr and rom manager without issue.

yeah i did some reading up, i wouldn't recommend using this update. i just reverted back to an older version that worked.

I'm scared of it. I can deal with anything breaking with roms or themes, but not my back up's.

Never mind this. I had a retard moment and then realized that I do have the 5.0 version. Duhhh

I saw some posted on the MikMik that they were having issues with the camera after updating CW...
I am also having issues, where the camera app will not open on the 5.0.0.8 update of CW...I see there is a newer version 5.0.0.9 -- I 'll update and check back.

There is now a new version to 5.0.1.0

CWM did not cause the Camera Google talk issues. It seems to be data and time related as some TBs are having the issue occur at different times of the day depending on their time zone.
There are two fixes for that posted here it appears to be an outdated libOlaEngine.so

Yea...thanks! Did some searching and downloaded the zip...seems to be working pretty well right now...but I still can't download zips on Rom manager and it won't let me install an older recovery....for now I'm installing zips manually

I flashed cwm5.0.1.0 via hboot. Downloaded from Absolute _Zero's thread in developer section. Working fine for me.

Flashed my update using rom manager.

It still has some bugs. I couldn't restore any of my backups.

[Theme-fix] Luckys V1.6 GMAIL Fixed

Posted in New Thread for response.
G-Mail Fixed (Dream Users Only MT3G Testers needed)
For everyone who tried to use luckys Gmail fix and did not get results I figured out why. Seems that the GMAIL storage got damaged during the theme flashing. I went ahead a put together a fix. I tried on both my fiances dream and my own and it works. Gmail no longer FC. This is confirmed on the G1-Dream, can anyone try it for the MT3G - Saphirre. Thanks
Download and apply as an update through recovery. Please let me know if u have any issues or questions.
Note if the above does not work at first, launch terminal or ADB console and
rm gmail and gmail-provider.apk from system/app. Use the command below:
rm system/app/gmail.apk
rm system/app/gmail-provider.apk

You're sure this is causing it and it's not because of different Gmail versions being used in the HTC recovery image, the rooted base and the one-flash solution?
Would this work with the 2.0 stock theme as well, because its messed up in there as well..
-If it does ill try this.

I don't think it is.
I supply two versions: one for the HTC recovery image and one for the rooted base.
How did you upgrade to cyanogens legal versions (one-flash solution?) and what version of the theme did you install?

Great idea I thought the same until the fix worked. Its the gmail-provider.apk that gets damaged. Running the theme pre-fixed if u check applications Gmail Storage is not listed but is sitting in system/app. I know its not an issue of versions b/c my fiance is running DWANG 1.3 and I'm on CYan 4.2.5 (htc img based). The fix works guarenteed, and may work with the 2.0 theme that was mentioned above. Please report back, thanx.
can i drop these 2 apks in the luck theme .zip and re sign and flash it?

Yes, i know. But the exact same thing happens when you flash the Gmail version from the rooted base over the Gmail version of the HTC recovery image and the other way around.

Well, it probably works if you get FC's on the 2.0 theme but that probably means you installed the wrong version to start with. Also as soon as you redo a vanilla install you'll have the same issue again.
Until now, all FC reports of users using my theme turned out to be caused by a wrong version (because they used the one-flash solution or because they didn't know on what 1.6 base Google apps they were on).

Ok, but that's new for me (btw i'm not claiming this solves all problems, i'm just going on the reports i've had from users of my theme).
And you're sure you used the 'HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base.zip' to upgrade to cyans legal versions and not the 'signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip' or the one-flash solution that was offered in devlopment for a while?
The version of my theme shouldn't be picked based on your device, it should be picked based on the 1.6 base you used to upgrade to cyans legal versions.

Here's the steps I took for my Magic-32A. I'm happy to be pointed out wrong somewhere so I can get rid of FC errors!!
(Just listing the files on my SDcard so you know which files I'm using)
1. Wipe
2. Apply this:
Code:
lightbox: ~ : adb shell ls /sdcard/HTC*
/sdcard/HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base.zip
3. Next apply this:
Code:
lightbox: ~ : adb shell ls /sdcard/upda*
/sdcard/update-cm-4.2.5-signed.zip
4. Next, apply the patch for 32A
Code:
lightbox: ~ : adb shell ls /sdcard/bc*
/sdcard/bc-4.2.5-ebi1-signed.zip
5. Finally, apply your theme
Code:
lightbox: ~ : adb shell ls /sdcard/ec*

I have no knowledge about the 32a specifics but that does seem right. I can't really imagine there are Google apps in that patch for 32a.
I must admit i have never tested my theme on a 32a and none of the people that have been testing for me have a 32a.
Also you flashed the Sapphire version of the theme right after that without flashing another theme first? Also did you try to flash the Dream version to see if that corrects the problem (the only difference is the included Google app versions)?
so can i re put these in the lucky theme.zip and re sign?

Yes, the new 2.2.6 market with the carousel jog wheel on top... it's very xbox360ish ... which doesn't appeal to me all that much, but it's still a nice change I think, and works well, little laggy here and there.

Hey, thanks! The gapps package is not a rom, it's got the google apps inside... the bigger "full" package has The new market, gmail, facebook, youtube, twitter, maps, voicesearch and all that. The smaller "tiny" just has the new market and some google files.
Hope that helps Just hit the thanks button if it does, enjoy!

GApps is Google Apps. The full (large) version has the Android Market, GMail app, Maps, etc, etc. Not sure what all is missing out of the tiny version.
ROMs that don't include Google Apps like CELBFroyo need to have Google Apps flashed after the ROM is flashed. For other ROMs it just updates all the Google Apps en mass. It's possible that you already have all the updated apps if you update them either manually or automatically through the Market.
Edit: Sorry, shed, I didn't see there was a second page with your lonely post. I guess it needed company. LOL.

Nothing as in you don't have any Google Apps at all, or you just don't have any newer Google Apps than you already did? KaosFroyo already comes with Google Apps, if I remember correctly, and if you kept them updated anyway then flashing the new Google Apps wouldn't do anything other than possibly give you the new Market, which you could've gotten in an update, also. I don't know offhand which apps the tiny one has or what you were hoping to gain by flashing the new tiny one.
Well not only did I not get the new market which wasn't updated but I lost my download list which would make updating a pain I assume. Dunno why.

Flashing a whole GApps package just to get the new Market was kindof overkill. I have no idea what or if flashing a GApps package on top of an already existing GApps installation overwrites besides the apps themselves.
If you have a nandroid backup, I'd restore it and find one of the links through here to download just the Market itself. I've also heard that people got the Market update by running the Eris Market Fix and then the update was available. Haven't tried it myself.

It looks like the people having the weird bugs have used rom manager
I got it to work, it even shows different builds. I didn't use it to update anything though. V3.0.02 Using VEGAnTab5.1
This is weird because i was using the same vegantab build and it kept saying that the rom i was using didn't have OTA updates enabled and I should contact the rom maker to make it available.
I used it and got less bugs

In my rom manager it doesn't tell me there are updates, I think thats the developers job to enable OTA ( I think not sure ) if you hit downloads and then GtabDevs you should see the builds for VEGAnTab. The latest rom for VEGAnTab is 5.1 I had to manually update from 5 to 5.1 and I did it though rom manager fine. ( Manually )

[Q] Back Camera is showing red lines and doesn't take pitures

EDIT: as of cm7 0506 nightly, nearly all camera issues are are resolved. read my post on cm forums for details.
hello everybody,
i seem to have a similar problem as kroat999 posted in this thread, as my back camera is showing a lot of red lines/dashes throughout the viewer area.
also, the pictures take look like this, seems like the file was saved before the camera chip finished capturing.
i'm using cm7-nightly from 03/18 and platypus kernel from 03/22 (from the thread mentioned above). this definitely didn't happen with stock firmware 2 days ago, i haven't tried the cam with the default cm7-kernel.
any ideas or suggestions?
btw: viewer image of the ffc looks ok, but is tilted by 90°.

Hi kwantenmechaniker,
did this problem with the picture also happen with earlier kernels (from 21st or earlier ?)
the vertical (or horizontal) red lines are a known problem right now
but should only be an aesthetic issue - with the taken picture they're not present anymore
so it's probably an camera overlay or camera driver problem
sorry - I took several pictures and couldn't reproduce your truncated picture
yes, I noticed the 90° (clockwise) rotated picture, too
others get this with bilboa1's kernel also - so it's an upstream problem
you could try one thing:
make a nandroid backup then do a factory reset/wipe and see if that "fixes" it
if not you have a backup to restore
currently I'm out of ideas what might cause this

I just needed some free time to do it properly. Making an international gsm firmware work fully on Verizon is a pain in the you-know-what.
I also had the motivation of wanting to fully port the G3 camera driver which I never got around to with the initial G3 port I did with Cloudy and Tangjun. I'm happy to say it was worth it. Hope you enjoy it.

Coming from CloudyG3 with TWRP 2.7.0.0 can i just perform all the steps above or would it be better to restore to stock 26a first? Wipe system? Last time I went from CloudyG3 back to stock I lost knock on and had to restore it using your hiddenmenu apk. Any idea if I can expect something similar? Willing to be a bit of a guinea pig if you think I'll have a better than not chance for success.

No need to...just follow the install directions above. The only reason you (or anyone) ever lost knock-on is because they had flashed a kernel (if it's included with the rom it's the same thing) that enabled knock code and consequently updated the touchscreen firmware. Knock code also has a framework component that LG/Verizon for whatever reason never included in their firmware...so when you came back to a vs980 stock rom you also lost knock-on due to the newer firmware not being compatible with that firmware. It's a simple as that. All that has EVER been needed to restore it is a simple 10 second procedure.
This firmware package DOES have framework support for knock-on, so I built my kernel to use it. If you switch back to a VS980 Stock rom after this, you'll need to do the touchfw update in one of the 4 different ways that have been detailed.

The bootstack is the same one I had posted for my 26A rom. I didn't/don't want to confuse people with having more than one bootstack zip for now while everyone transitions from loki to bump. That said, if you had just continued on to install the rom you would've noticed that the firmware zip installs the new/bumped 2.8.1.2. Just follow the steps and you'll be fine.

Another thing i notice is that the smart notice isn't working. Maybe that is why it was not preloaded on the screen.
If i want to restore my nandroid backup of CloudyG3 can i just flash cloudyfa's kk baseband then restore from twrp 2.8.1.2 or do I need to downgrade the recovery and/or bootloader?

Did you wipe data or did you dirty flash? Neither of those apps exist in mine.
Very cool! I think I will have to give this a whirl. Thanks XDABBEB!
WOW....awesome work!! I did verify that the 26a bootstack I had was the same in the OP by verifying the Md5.
Flashed this last night and nothing but praise for this ROM. Everything works great even Tap to Pay (Soft Card). This is the only G3 ROM where I have seen it work at all.

Did you need to install the RootCloak xposed module? I know that this ROM hides root, and I confirmed that in the settings, but when I start Soft Card it tells me it can't be run on a rooted device.

Yes, I installed xposed framework and rootcloak to get it to work. Also, if you are running ART you need to disable before trying to get xposed to work.
I'm so psyched this is finally coming out, I'd given up on ever seeing this ROM come out a few months ago and have been putting up with the roaming bug on CloudyG3 ever since. So glad I don't have to deal with that crap now. Thanks man.
