[Q] Camera App with better zoom for HTC HD2 available at all? - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

Hey all, Im new to this forum. I have a t-Mobile HTC HD2 that has PATs JW MIUI Sense like 1.9.9 ML installed on it via Nand. I am not fond of the stock camera app that comes with the ROM. It does not have a very good zoom on it.
Is there any Camera App that I can install on it that is like stock and has a better zoom on it? I know there are some free ones on the market, but so far I havent found one with a better zoom on it.
Any help is grateful
Thanks in adavance!

well no, you can get other camera with better quality of photo and effects.

I looking for camera with zoom too

With regards to zoom, the function in a way is somewhat pointless. The camera can take 5.1 Mpx shots, and all zoom does, is digitally enlarge what you see on the screen. So in fact taking a photo then cropping it, does exactly the same as what zoom will do regardless of the zoom factor! For real zoom, it would need an optical zoom lens.

Use Camera Zoom FX. In settings select zoom type 4. You will be able to zoom by a factor of 6.

Nikon Coolpix s6200
10x optical zoom
Nikon quality low light images
Sony Cyber-shot m630
5x optical zoom
Samsung mv800

If I had to choose one of them, I'd go with the Nikon
Thanks above but was looking for something more in terms of technical . Not just about zoom. Coolpix is out of the running now due to when using camcorder and zoom you can hear on playback the zoom sound like a drill

Well with cameras that small, there's not a lot of technical difference.
The higher optical zoom is always better than digital zoom.
Nikon has reports of excellent low light pictures.
I've got a canon sx210is with 14x optical zoom, Jessops are doing it now for £149 so it's probably available elsewhere for less.
I bought it as a 40m dive enclosure is available for it.
I also got a slip on extension tube that allows you to use filters.
The low light abilities of the camera really impressed me.
This video was taken on a dark boat during a dark overcast day. The only lights that were on are the coloured disco ones shooting around
I took this out the front a few nights ago when we had snow. Only street lighting was used.

It all depends what you want to use it for.
If you just want a point and shoot to take snaps, then go for the cheapest one of the bunch.
That's some funky dancing lol. Thanks for the answer.

Depth Effect works but doesnt use both cams... It uses the main cam to take photo then uses Software manipulation for depth

I use another version of the google cam that is the GCmod 5.1.018 that uses the other cam safe for the effect, but the photographic quality of the front of the GCmod is lower than this while the back is comparable, but the shot in the GCmod is faster. GCmod does not support videos.

The telephoto camera is only used when the scene is bright enough though, otherwise the phone falls back to its main camera with a 2x digital zoom (which gives better results anyway in low-light scenes)
is there a way of checking which camera it is using?
from my checking it never uses it.

Hold your finger over the lens? You will be able to tell which one is being used.

In that case it uses only the main camera all the time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but on Samsung's page it says its a 2x optical zoom.
It only works on the classic photo mode, not the pro one (which I don't know why)

12mp vs 48mp

So i was playing around with my phone. And found out that the 48mp takes "fake" photos. As in far from real. And 12mp takes almost the same as what im seeing.
12mp

48mp
So i found out that, 12MP works best for indoor,48MP for outdoors... Or 12MP for faster capturing and 48MP for slower capturing.
Maybe because of pixel binning...

Yes i know. 4 pixels into 1. But its making everything more white/blue...
If you're using the stock Asus camera app, the photos produced by that are pretty bad. Try a modded GCam and it will be a noticeable difference.

Okay i know. But if i want to insist on using the stock app. 48mp or 12mp? Im confused.
If you want to insist on using that, you will just keep getting these poor quality photos. The Asus camera software probably does not have a good algorithm for fixing the issues with 48 MP photos.

Well, 48MP has 4x more pixels than the 12MP. If Asus's camera software cannot optimize the 48MP, you see the imperfections even more since there are more pixels in the image. 48MP would only really be useful if you need to show these images on a larger screen or you're doing some sort of professional photo editing where you can benefit from a more pixel-dense photo. So yes, you can stick to 12MP since it saves storage space and looks slightly better.

A71 Camera post-processing smudgy & cartoony

A picture is worth a thousand words.
To illustrate the problem, below are two photos of my cat. The first was taken using the native Samsung camera app. The second using a port of Gcam.

Do you see the problem? Pictures taken with the Samsung camera app produce this "smudging" effect, making it look almost like a painting, or a cartoon.
This problem is very prevalent once you start using the camera a lot, taking lots of photos. Usually happens when the scene includes a lot of small details that need to be captured, like people's faces, or a textured intricate pattern.
Instead of accurately representing those details, the camera produces this smudged cartoony effect more often than not.
Since using the ported Gcam app on the same phone, same hardware, produces far superior results, it is reasonable to conclude that this is a Samsung software issue, and that the post-processing algorithm is not up to par.
My question being, is this a known issue? Is something being done about it? Is there a solution other than using 3rd party apps like the Gcam port used in my examples?
I'd much rather use the native camera app provided by Samsung, but as it stands currently it's just really not up to the challenge.
Will appreciate any feedback, thanks!

P.S. What gcam port do you use exactly? Could you please link?
Do you see gcam improvement also in video comparing to stock camera app, filmic Pro and open camera?
Wow, that's so disappointing to hear!
One of the reasons I bought this phone was for the camera upgrade, thinking it would be decent.
Can't believe that it's this flawed for a device that came out in 2020.

I just used the one that was advertised on this forum: https://www.cyanogenmods.org/galaxy-a71-google-camera-apk-download/
Seems to work well for the most part. I mainly tested it with taking photos. Video quality seems to be about the same as the stock Samsung camera app, but I haven't tested it extensively to be fair.
I have noticed this smudging in other apps such as snapchat too, it's even worse there.
