trying to return my thrill - LG Thrill 4G

So I ported over to my friends account. Got an attiX. Had signal issues due to where I live it would take for ever tobtefresh. Well I get another atrix same thing. Then I trade off for the thrill. Great signal! But I have some lag not much but a little. But I can't stand the quility of the pictures it takes and the slowness of how long it takes for the camera to load up. My old 3mp Samsung acclaim took better clearer pics than this. So I was gonna want the new galaxy s II Monday. Well the only way is to cancel this line and make a new line with a new number since I'm still within the 30 days. Cause they wont let me trade in phones. But the only problem is that I'm a autherizsed user on the account. But can't create lines and delete them in the store. BUT THE account holder sleeps during the day and works at night so he is definitely NOT gonna drive an hour And 15 min away out of his way I can't do that. So what can I do??

If i read that correctly you stated that you WERE in your 30 day window still. Just pay the 35 restocking fee and get what u want. I originally got the infuse and ended up taking it back 3 days later for the thrill. Will prob return this before its over.

I can't I have to cancel my line. This ie my 3rd phone. And the problem I'm runing in to is that the account holder I will not ask them to drive and hour and 15min just to do this. Cause he sleeps during the day and works at night but I'm autherized on the account

Thanks for the info. I was contemplating returning this for the galaxy s2....but might have to add a line and then suspend it. Guess ill see. Maybe sell this phone on Craigslist and then just buy it outright.

Lol....the sgs2 doesnt come out monday....so I would say you have plenty of time to sort things out

Shouldn't ever buy phones from AT&T. They will give you hell if you want to exchange more than once and charge a restocking fee if you want to return the device. Pretty sure Best Buy has neither of those restrictions.

Corporate AT&T stores, yes. I work for an AT&T Authorized Retailer and we don't charge restocking fees. And we can work with our prices for phones & accessories and do bundle discounts

Well I've been with att for 12 years. Never exchanged phones until this time. So if att wants to be dicks, then I guess I can always go to another carrier. If you are gonna be stuck with a phone for 2 years then u gotta be sure u can live with it. Playing with a phone in the store for 10 minutes isn't enough time to evaluate it. Sometimes it might take a week or so to make up your mind. Att will just have to live if i decide to return this for the galaxy s2. Actually the battery is my biggest issue with the lack of interest and development pulling up a close second.

Where to sell my captivate?

I have a captivate which i recently got exchanged for a new one under warranty and since i have an upgrade pending i am gonna get some other android.
Any suggestions on where and how to find a good resale value? I went to one local flea market and they offered $120 which i believe is low. Please advise

You could check out eBay and CraigsList for price comparisons of units in the same condition as yours.
You could check gazelle.com...they buy gadgets.
You could ask at the place you buy your next phone to see if there's a trade-in value. My wife got a free flip-phone when we signed up, then got jealous of my Captivate. So we hit a store to see if she could upgrade. She got a $30 credit for the free flip-phone. Add in the $18 fee for early upgrade, and she walked out with a Motorola Bravo for $38.
And if you decide the money isn't a big deal, you could always donate it to a developer who needs guinea pig devices for mod/rom development. I'm sure you could find a taker or two in this forum.
eBay is probably the highest return, even after counting the ridiculous fees and such.

LG Thrill manufacturing

A few weeks ago i contacted at&t to ask questions about the LG Thrill. They responded by telling me that they no longer have the lg thrill in stock because LG has stopped manufacturing the phone ever since they released the LG Optimus 3D Max on the other side of the world. Question is: What phone shall we receive in case something happens to our LG Thrill? I have a 2 year warranty and insurance on my phone. Do they send us a refurbished one or do we get the option to upgrade or choose our replacement phone?

This is a good question for at&t and I believe most of returns on a discontinued product it would be refurbished or an equal device but I have heard many stories about different scenarios

I work for AT&T. The last one I had replaced for someone, they received the LG Nitro.

The one I had replaced was an insurance replacement. The site told them that's what the replacement would be, and if they had a problem with it, they would have to call in. I would presume, that even if they called in, the Nitro would still be the replacement.
well i think thats a good upgrade, cause to be honest any phone is better than the lg thrill. At least the nitro has an official ics leak out already

I would not get your hopes too high. My dad recently had a replacnent for his OG Evo spent to him by sprint, of which reached it end of life probably about 8 months ago (or longer?), and it was the same phone. AT&T might not be selling them anymore, but you best bet that the insurance company they use has stocked up on them. And usually the insurance companies stock of the phone does not go down because they replace of the phone they send out, they get the customers broken one in replacment and refurbish it. If you want, try it, you will most likely get a refurb thrill

Yeah, I mean I can't speak for Sprint, and (insert this for legal reasons) I can't speak on behalf of AT&T, but I do know the insurance company Asurion says they don't have the Thrill anymore. So they have been issuing the LG Nitro in its place. Which, in my opinion, isn't the best in the world, but it's a 4G LTE phone that operates as similar as you can get to the Thrill.
Asurion or the phone's warranty plan should lets us choose which phone of equal or lesser price we should recieve like : The LG Nitro or HTC Vivid which both cost the same and both are equal prices of the "Thrill"

Can't argue with that, but can also see it from their standpoint. It's by the same manufacturer, and it was one of their next phones released after the Thrill. If they let people choose their replacement, it would get ridiculous. I say that from a sales rep pov.
You should hear some of the ridiculous crap that comes out of people's mouths when they come in after they break their phones and want a replacement. A lot of the time I swear they did it on purpose to try and get a different phone.
all i know is that in the next few days or week imma have an HTC Vivid or the LG Nitro

my phone's battery has been dying to fast lately, im lucky if i get 3 hours on it when im only texting :\ ad usually my phone would last atleast from 6am-4pm, then i'd charge it and then it would last till i went to sleep like at 12 am. Im very disappointed: \

You can go into an att store and tell them your battery isn't holding a charge. They won't have one in stock , but they can mail you a free replacement. I've done for both Thrills I own.
Have you tried battery calibration?

Best Buy's protection plan is very nice, and right for the money. However, I'm in a different boat since I have a SERO-P account. I will need to stick with Sprint's TEP, which isn't a bad plan either. Just a little more expensive over time, and a little more of a headache getting what you need when your device is screwy. I've had TEP for at least 5 years now, and I've hardly ever used it, which is usually my argument with Sprint when I have to call them for a problem with the phone. But if something is wrong with it, I can usually take it into a Sprint store and walk out with a new one on it's way to my house next day. It's the phone support that's gotten worse over the years.
Best Buys insurance plan does not cover the phone being lost or stolen.

Employee returned phone

I received my LG phone back but it's locked and the disgruntled employee smashed the screen. I'm an note3 owner so I'm clueless to the LG Android platform. What are my best options here? I'm considering replacing the screen myself as I've done before on phones but to get into the phone and everything is not an option I assume.

Wow! What happened? Why did the screen get smashed? I would freaking say something.... you shouldn't have to fix it.
If need be, you can pop the back cover off with a guitar pick, or similar. Its just like a Samsung once you get inside. Remove the battery, remove the rear housing, remove the motherboard, vibrator, antennae, etc.

Untold? I fired the person for theft of fuel. Some cannot be trusted with a monitored fuel card I guess. Especially when the card is tied to a certain vehicle and they have to use a unique pin at the pump. My 160 out of pocket to repair a phone is chump change when it's a few hundred dollars of fuel

Maybe it"s a factor to some, but idc if it's 2 dollars or 2000, cant stand a thief. I can understand the not bothering part as well, if you ever recover the price it will have cost you even more. Some former employee's of mine thought being the boss makes you rich so you wont notice, both are usually idiotic ideas. Why they think i owe them but they owe me nothing is beyond me.

I was thinking the same exact thing - except that it was a disgruntled Verizon employee who was the culprit.
Never put it past VZW to send out a warranty replacement with issues lol
Once I get this fixed I may use an upgrade from another line to use the g2 as a spare for myself. Are they locked bootloader like my note 3?

i believe so, but there's a loki exploit or something..i forget, i haven't rooted or done any of this since september lol
I recently rooted mine, ran a few roms but made the mistake of wiping data on my stock recovery and soft bricked. Was able to go all the way back to 4.2.2. Then 2 updates later here I am lol.
Rooting and fixing are very simple at this stage.

Update: screen is fixed... I'm going to try to replace through Verizon now. Lol. I picked up a razr HD for cheap to use as a spare. Towelroot and bl unlocked on cm11. Not touching the g2 now.

Samsung Premium Care FREE? Yes or No?

Are you guys getting it and cancelling after the two months to get the free 2 months?
On the premium care it's free for the first 2months. Can I can cancel prior to getting charged on the third month. Would love to take advantage of the free 2 months.
I am trying it out, probably keep it past the free period. I would rather deal with Samsung than AT&T for support or warranty needs.

They actually send a tech out to replace the phone depending on whats wrong with it.
They normally will have you add a card on file for the $100 decutable then send you a new one and if youndont return the old one they charge you.
they automatically bill you after 2 months trial. why bother. I don't use it anyway.
Nah, I'm good with the much more affordable (and still high quality) Squaretrade.
