Insurance coverage - Sprint HTC One (M7)

What insurance is everyone going to get for their One?
I preordered at Best Buy and it seems like their protection plan is much better than Sprint's insurance.

Best Buy's protection plan is very nice, and right for the money. However, I'm in a different boat since I have a SERO-P account. I will need to stick with Sprint's TEP, which isn't a bad plan either. Just a little more expensive over time, and a little more of a headache getting what you need when your device is screwy. I've had TEP for at least 5 years now, and I've hardly ever used it, which is usually my argument with Sprint when I have to call them for a problem with the phone. But if something is wrong with it, I can usually take it into a Sprint store and walk out with a new one on it's way to my house next day. It's the phone support that's gotten worse over the years.

Best Buys insurance plan does not cover the phone being lost or stolen.

trying to return my thrill

So I ported over to my friends account. Got an attiX. Had signal issues due to where I live it would take for ever tobtefresh. Well I get another atrix same thing. Then I trade off for the thrill. Great signal! But I have some lag not much but a little. But I can't stand the quility of the pictures it takes and the slowness of how long it takes for the camera to load up. My old 3mp Samsung acclaim took better clearer pics than this. So I was gonna want the new galaxy s II Monday. Well the only way is to cancel this line and make a new line with a new number since I'm still within the 30 days. Cause they wont let me trade in phones. But the only problem is that I'm a autherizsed user on the account. But can't create lines and delete them in the store. BUT THE account holder sleeps during the day and works at night so he is definitely NOT gonna drive an hour And 15 min away out of his way I can't do that. So what can I do??
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
If i read that correctly you stated that you WERE in your 30 day window still. Just pay the 35 restocking fee and get what u want. I originally got the infuse and ended up taking it back 3 days later for the thrill. Will prob return this before its over.
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
I can't I have to cancel my line. This ie my 3rd phone. And the problem I'm runing in to is that the account holder I will not ask them to drive and hour and 15min just to do this. Cause he sleeps during the day and works at night but I'm autherized on the account

Well I guess u may know something I dont. They have a limit on returning phones in the 30 day window?

Yea. Usually its only once exchange. With all carrioers.

Thanks for the info. I was contemplating returning this for the galaxy s2....but might have to add a line and then suspend it. Guess ill see. Maybe sell this phone on Craigslist and then just buy it outright.

Shouldn't ever buy phones from AT&T. They will give you hell if you want to exchange more than once and charge a restocking fee if you want to return the device. Pretty sure Best Buy has neither of those restrictions.

Corporate AT&T stores, yes. I work for an AT&T Authorized Retailer and we don't charge restocking fees. And we can work with our prices for phones & accessories and do bundle discounts
Not for me gotta cancel my line to do it

Well I've been with att for 12 years. Never exchanged phones until this time. So if att wants to be dicks, then I guess I can always go to another carrier. If you are gonna be stuck with a phone for 2 years then u gotta be sure u can live with it. Playing with a phone in the store for 10 minutes isn't enough time to evaluate it. Sometimes it might take a week or so to make up your mind. Att will just have to live if i decide to return this for the galaxy s2. Actually the battery is my biggest issue with the lack of interest and development pulling up a close second.

Nexus 4 on eBay

Hey guys,
Just wanted to share:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Google-Nexu...ocked-GSM-Phone-4-7-True-HD-NEW-/181030542181
I just bought one, price is lower than most of sellers, only 1 left! Hopefully I like it more than my s2! :good:
that's expensive D:
You are an idiot for purchasing that. Sorry.
I cannot buy off of Play store, or from local stores, since im from South America.
It was not a bad deal, I sold my s2 for $400 =D
Damn I sold my s2 for 260 with accessories, you got a great deal

That was a bad decision... Hope you like it though.. I love mine and it cost a lot less and is 16gb...

A lot of people on ebay are profiting like crazy because they were able to buy like 6-7 phones. Sucks for us users that either got on the back order list or didn't get one. Google should have limited to 1-2 phones per address. If you cant buy locally then thats fine.
If I wasn't able to get mine from the play store I would have paid up to 450 for the 8 and 600 for the 16

Yea, I got a prime for it, but it is always the same. The phone I owned before my s2 was a bb torch (1st gen) which I sold for $380 and bought the s2 for $420. You'll be amazed on how much we pay for techology devices over here (Ecuador).
The s3 is around $900 atm, lol, (with contract for 1-2 years)

Hopefully you do not have an issue with it. As soon as Google has them back in stock these greedy eBay sellers will wither away..
Kind of ticks me off that Google did not set limits or if they did they set them too high.

Issue as...?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Issue as your phone being damaged or not working..I don't believe Google honors a warranty made to someone else which leaves LG meaning you would most likely be without a phone for weeks.
You have to ask yourself if out would be better to wait a week or two or pay more and take a risk. Keep in mind that when ever we buy like this from these people it only encourages them to do it more.

BS "8 available / 27 sold"
It looks like some were able to order a lot more. I think this is total BS! It would have been awesome if no one would buy one off of ebay for these ridiculous prices and let the seller be stuck with them.

WHY?
You just got ripped off buddy
500.00 on Ebay is a fair markup. You figure the phone from the Play store will be around 375.00 - 400.00 after tax and shipping. The seller will make a 100.00 to 125.00 profit.

Not even that much. You have to factor in eBay costs and PayPal costs. I recently sold a pair of ice skates and I got hit with over $40 in fees.
So you figure my 16g n4 came to me for around 400 from Google. That means in order for someone to make any profit they need to sell it for at least 450.
With that being said posting it for $500 is not unreasonable. They are making like $50-60 bucks profit. I think that's fair for the effort of posting it etc.... I loath the people selling it for $800+ however. Just my .02

Thank god theres actually makes sense. It's cost effective to do. Even though it's more like renting a phone which is ok to me. No extra monthly costs? Yes please. Thank you sprint.

is it really cost effective tho? like i'm looking at it and how much I pay, (like 75 a month with insurance after discounts and taxes) thats about 900 a year then u add on their 649 for a fone, it would be worth it if u pay that much for a fone but geting it from CL or EB and it actually being yours to keep might be a bit better, i can actually sale my fone for 250+
---------- Post added at 01:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:34 AM ----------
and my question after how long unitl you actually own the fone, is it another yeah of this plan, cuz if so, you'd be better off buying it

Compared to everyone else, yes is a good deal. But I see what you're saying here. You end up paying more for the phone...but at least there's more choices for the consumer which is always a good thing.

I prefer T-Mobile it's a bit more but you factor in there is no contract you can end anytime and there's no ETF you only pay the amount remaining for the cost of the phone. I still think Sprint will lock you into a 2 year with $350 prorated ETF on top of paying off for your device all the while that if you do upgrade you hand that device back to them in a year.
Also, this program may not be available to everyone.
Sent from my HTCONE using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
T-mobile's jump plan is slightly better because you're allowed to upgrade every 6 months, which I'm sure plenty of you guys on XDA know a lot of phones get released every 6 months. Also with the $10 monthly Jump fee, it includes insurance.
T Mobile is also contract free and I haven't read anything about Sprint heading in that direction.

+1 for Woodstock/Winchester/Warrenton. I have LTE in those areas with Sprint. None of those areas have T-Mo LTE......yet any who.

If Sprint comes out with no contract plans with the "one up" program, then yes, it's a good deal. But if you're still stuck to a 2 year contract, what's the point?
It is one up, and a million down.

Insurance where to get it?

I seen in another thread people were getting Squaretrade. But I just got off the phone with them, and they don't cover smart watches. I know people were mentioning black tie through best buy, but what if you purchased through T mobile? What are your options?

I won't even get insurance on my phones. 5 bucks a month with a 10 dollar deductable. No thanks ill role the dice... by the time you need to make a claim you have already spent 100 bucks in monthly fees then another 100 for the claim. Them your spending 200 for a phone that's a year+ old.
With the watch the cost is only 300 I can't find a reason to insure that only to spend half the original cost on insurance 8 months down the road to have it replaced with refurbished out dated technology.
Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app
The claim from the other thread was that the watch was bought under warranty rather than insurance. That's a huge difference. I'd like to know about buying warranty as well. I bought mine from Verizon. Maybe I should take mine back and get one at BB, so that I can buy warranty. Sorry achtung515, but your logic doesn't make sense on a watch that costs this much and is very delicate.

Buy one from Republic Wireless for $299 every/any day.
This only works if their service works for you. And you only have 30 days to try it out. There is no call center and you are expected to use WiFi where it is available. And don't ding up the phone if you expect to get a full refund -- minus $10 shipping -- on it. (On a serious not, as opposed to most of my post here, their RMA contractor actually does look at returned phones under a lighted magnifier.)
Would you be willing to pay $5, $10, $25, or up to $40 a month for service though? Especially with no contract?
On top of that they are only rated number two in the PC Magazine poll for best carrier.
Maybe just skip it.
