VNC (Server) for Bionic?? - Motorola Droid Bionic

Are there any client (pc)/server (phone) apps that work for VNC on this phone? I keep getting a crooked screen and would LOVE to fix this
Tony

Team viewer works nicely and has mac, pc, and android versions. Just make sure you set the forced password or you have to ask client every time to read it to you. There are free and paid versions I use the paid in the office because it works so well cross platform (both free and paid) oh also set as startup item on the client or you will have to make the client launch it.

I don't think you understood what I said.
I want the phone to be the server and the desktop to be the client.
In other words, I want to take my phone over from VNC. All the clients that I have tried so far end up with a 70-80 degree crooked screen when I view my phone from my laptop.

Ahhh, I see my bad man I stared at it for a second too. well I have no real suggestions then sorry I looked on the market and did a quick google search but I found only 2 which im sure you already tried. One has lost all dev support and reported to not work on ATRIX so not much hope there and a beta on the market im sure you have seen. Sorry man.

Fennec (Firefox Mobile) Alpha

Hey, has anyone managed to find a file in .apk format of the recently released alpha? they only way you can get it from mozilla's site is in a .install file, which, because of our darling At&t, we cant do anything with...
Got apk from here

Thanks for the link
I know it is alpha, but what are the thoughts so far on it? I find it very slow. I hope they can get gear monkey incorporated on this
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
They proboably won't start optimizing the code until it goes beta. Alpha is more about just getting the feature set right and making sure everything works moderatly well.
More than likely they re-used as much code as possible from the desktop variant (to get it going) which is def. not optimized for a mobile device.
It looks promising to me. I like the way tabs are handled and add-ons will be really cool if they ever take off (I need fire gestures).
Thanks for the link, dang you AT&T .........
It runs like crap, and fc randomly, dont know why they even released this to the puplic,
I will say this about, its much more functional than the pre alpha I've been testing the past couple weeks, certainly not ready for day to day use, but its nice to see mozilla making progress
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I know it's alpha, but as soon as I load it it freezes. They aren't kidding about alpha, maybe they should list it as nearly operable.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 (My phone is having and identity crisis, it boots to an i9000 screen then a Vibrant screen then loads the captivate rom lol)
It looks like it will be cool with the weave sync and all. Unfortunately I can't get it to run for more than a min without a force close.I did visit gmail and it wa formatted for an old flip type phone and just text...not for a smart phone like we are use to setting with an android browser.

I don't even get an FC. App just dies randomly. Otherwise, it looks really nice. I'm digging the interface. Once it gets stable, this will be my default browser

Internet explorer 9

Now since ie9 has been released to public beta can we get a chrome2phone addon for it that would be perfect or someone try to find a work around to get it working. Thanks.

I hate to admit it, but I've been comparing the latest IE9 Beta to the latest Chrome6 Beta. IE9 (for HTML5) performance is a GOOD DEAL better on almost every site i visited (both MS and non MS sites). I estimated some of the performance tests were more than 3 times faster in IE9!
Give the tests a go here: http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/
While I am staying with Chrome for now, I will definately be tempted to go back to IE if HTML5 in Chrome does not improve.
Disclamer, it could be that the Chrome installation on my PC is no good!?!
Yeah IE has always and will always suck. I can't possibly think of any reason somebody would want to use IE when there's Firefox and Chrome (even Opera and Safari). With anything made by MS you have to spend all your time configuring it and apparently you need to go through an entire workaround just to set Google as the default search engine. Don't even attempt to tell me that you really prefer "Bing".
Actually I hate having seperate web browsers I have tried them all and I love ie especially since the ie9 beta was just released. But everyone has there own preference and mine is ie all I was wanting was chrome2phone to run on ie is their anything wrong with that.

Nothing wrong w/u'r question. I'm no longer using chrome since IE9beta rocks!
I been working all morning on trying to figure out how to create a Haddon for ie9 so we cab have ie2phone I will get it eventually once I do I need help developing a webpage for this.

Any luck yet on this? I've been using the IE9 beta, and it is sweeet. Only weakness is I really hate having to open firefox or chrome to send stuff to my EVO. We really need IE9-to-phone.
I know there's Android 2 cloud, like chrome 2 phone, but in reverse. Throwing it out there in case someone hasn't heard. I use chrome though, so can't help you there. =D G' luck.

Anyone know of a good "working" bittorrent client?

I'm using mTorrent Lite for when im connected to WiFi. Works great. Obviously not suggested when on 3G.
what about something like PeerGuardian/equivelant to go along with it?
I'm using mtorrent as well but only getting 1mb sec load speed. I have 4 meg DSL.. shouldn't it be at 400k a sec?
In the same vein, has anyone seen a usable Usenet app?

I'm trying to use mtorrent but every time I try to add a torrent, nothing happens. It keeps saying to add a torrent. How is everyone else using mtorrent.

I use NewzDroid and it does exactly what I expected it to. They also make the software Unrar and Unrar Pro... it would be really nice if they would just integrate the applications together though.
I see that there is now another offering on the Market called Droid NewzLeecher (which appears to have some pretty bad reviews)
The app that I use is ttorrent and I love it. I have tried all of them and this one is by far the best. I get speeds on average of 250kb/s but that might be due to the speed of my wifi connection.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App with a Motorola Xoom
I don't have a Xoom, but on my Nexus One I use the free uTorrent remote app. This is not torrenting on the phone, it torrents to my home computer running uTorrent. However, the app allows you to download the files from your home computer once they are completed. It is a very clean app and works great on my phone, so if it runs on the Xoom and that way of doing things works for you, it might be a great solution.
I'm aBTC on my desire. Give it a go.
swarm is one of the best clients i've seen, but it is $5.

Torrent App for Phone

i have tried both ttorrent and dtorr and neither one works. i can add torrents but they never start downloading.. i am using bamf remix 2 beta 5. any ideas? has anyone been able to get torrents to work?
Am pretty sure Torrents around here are taboo and not to be discussed but I could be wrong. I'll follow the thread out of curiosity.
I dont see why? torent apps are 100% legal its what you downlload that "Could be illegal" and he was not asking anything about that kind of stuff
I'm on stock Rom and ttorrents works really well.

I use transdroid to control my seedbox. I think you could set it up to control the torrent client on your pc.

Adownloader is the best I've used. It has no download speed limit and its free.
I use swarm. The downloads start pretty fast and i haven't had a problem so far.

In tTorrent - did you go into Settings and uncheck the "Use Wifi Only" option?
Torrent-fu is my favorite.

In re-reading the thread, it appears you were asking for local clients for the phone. Torrent-Fu controls a remote PC. Sorry about that.
Make sure in torrent under settings that you uncheck the option to use WiFi only.

this is what i do as well, it works really well for adding torrents to deluge on my vps. as far as using a torrent client on your phone that downloads directly to your phone, i would not do that personally unless you are using a public tracker like thepiratebay since any reputable tracker is most likely not going to allow a tracker from the android market. i tried andtorrent or something similar just to see if it would work on one of my private trackers and i was immediately banned from the site for using an unapproved client.
I really wish people would quit getting all bent out of shape about torrents. Not every torrent is something illegal. However, it makes it easy to see who has ever downloaded a linux distro by how much they think torrents are bad (hint: is a primary way to download most linux distros).
If the apps arent working already made, just compile one using android NDK (native development kit) (provided by google if you search) or try something like http://inportb.com/2010/10/17/debian-packages-on-android-phones/. The later lets you port debian arm packages to your phone for use and debian includes the biggest command line torrent software out there, rtorrent. For a cli app, rtorrent is very easy to use and you can just let it run in the background without the fear of it hogging your system like some gui apps might. Only downside with using debian packages is they're probably not going to use the same libc built into android, which runs faster, but oh well, shouldnt make a huge difference.
I liked swarm but I have had the best luck with andtor.

[Q] ActiveSync Version

Need some help.
Just recently got issued a Droid Bionic by my IT staff and was given instructions on how to set up corporate sync, however it appears that the version of activesync on the phone and the one on the server don't match.
Is there a way to downgrade the activesynce version on the phone?
just get a third party like enhanced email or maildroid i get my work email through there all the time you just need your server numbers etc.. and it works fine..
I recommend enhanced email. Its awesome and the reason I like it alot is because it reads html formatted stuff which I need. Totally worth it....
