[Q] ActiveSync Version - Motorola Droid Bionic

Need some help.
Just recently got issued a Droid Bionic by my IT staff and was given instructions on how to set up corporate sync, however it appears that the version of activesync on the phone and the one on the server don't match.
Is there a way to downgrade the activesynce version on the phone?

just get a third party like enhanced email or maildroid i get my work email through there all the time you just need your server numbers etc.. and it works fine..

I recommend enhanced email. Its awesome and the reason I like it alot is because it reads html formatted stuff which I need. Totally worth it....

Nope- it's my primary mail client.
Nope works great on my unrooted wifi zoom.

I use K9 Mail as my main email app. Its the only one that supports push email via IMAP IDLE. Unless there's some other email app that I don't know about.
I tried K9, found it to be a horrible flaming pile of dogcrap and uninstalled it. I especially didn't like the amount of memory it ate up just sitting around doing nothing.
Even with its shortcomings, I prefer the stock mail client.
k9 sucks balls stock is like 101% better even tho stock is rubbish
I use k-9 on my phone, but found it to be unstable on xoom (maybe it has been updated in the last two weeks)
I switched to enchanced mail, which is stable, but find myself mainly using the stock email client. I use imap.

VNC (Server) for Bionic??

Are there any client (pc)/server (phone) apps that work for VNC on this phone? I keep getting a crooked screen and would LOVE to fix this
Tony
Team viewer works nicely and has mac, pc, and android versions. Just make sure you set the forced password or you have to ask client every time to read it to you. There are free and paid versions I use the paid in the office because it works so well cross platform (both free and paid) oh also set as startup item on the client or you will have to make the client launch it.

I don't think you understood what I said.
I want the phone to be the server and the desktop to be the client.
In other words, I want to take my phone over from VNC. All the clients that I have tried so far end up with a 70-80 degree crooked screen when I view my phone from my laptop.
Ahhh, I see my bad man I stared at it for a second too. well I have no real suggestions then sorry I looked on the market and did a quick google search but I found only 2 which im sure you already tried. One has lost all dev support and reported to not work on ATRIX so not much hope there and a beta on the market im sure you have seen. Sorry man.

Tried the app that was for Atrix. Will start but fails to accept connections. Also looking as well..

I'm using AquaMail. It is very powerfull email client.
Enhanced Email is pretty impressive, think it's on sale too... Based on stock, but don't let that put you off
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qs.enhancedemail
If you want non-stock, check out mail Droid. They've got a free ad supported one you can check out to see before purchase, I personally prefer it to stock based clients. I'm still using free version after 3 months or so, seen no need to upgrade yet.

Hope it helps.

for me - K9 Mail
Exchange by Touchdown gives you all you need
Since the original Gapps mail client sucked big time in many i9000 ROMs i started to look out for a really good free option.
I found K9 mail!
It is as fast as my pc clint thunderbird wiping the floor with email.apk the whole day
Really great email client with loads of features which i mostly don´t need.

[Q] Wifi-only app that lets S1 and BB communicate?

I have a rooted/rommed wifi-only S1 and my GF has a Blackberry 9780. She is currently overseas for X amount of time and the only way we can talk is by calling each other which is extremely expensive, or using skype which means she has to borrow a friend's laptop or android device. She has service on her phone over there, unsure of what type of plan.
I came up with the idea of using my old BB 8330 and figuring out how to use BBM or something similar on wifi-only, but it turns out that 'ol phone doesn't have wifi on it. It's too bad I sold my last BB some time ago which was an 8530 and had wifi. Oh well.
Anyways, I'm now wondering if there's an app I can use on my S1 that she can also use on her 9780 that would allow us to text and or talk. Something like BBM that doesn't require me to have service or a data plan. I imagine there's at least one app out there that would do this and also be available to BB users.
Thanks.
What about the WhatsApp Messenger by WhatsApp Inc. In the Play Store ?

I read somewhere that it uses your phone number but can't seem to confirm that.
I'm pretty sure we can use KIK but it's text only. I may be getting greedy with wanting text and talk, but having both would be awesome.
Does her phone have a browser? If so, you could use any site like ebuddy to talk. Or even get on something like palringo (dunno if there's a bb version?) but there must be something alike.

She has service and we *think* her data is unlimited. She also has a wireless router at her flat so wifi helps if the data is limited/costly.
We're trying to use apps over our current methods or using something browser based mainly for convenience. Something like whatsapp or KIK would work perfectly from what I understand, but they're text-only. Not a huge problem, but if I can find text+voice that would be great. Skype is normally the answer to that question but her phone, or more specifically her service provider, isn't compatible with skype from what I'm seeing.

Then ebuddy would most likely be your answer. It has chat + voice/video and is browser based.

I went with Kik for now. It's actually a pretty cool messenger app. Clean and fast.
I haven't yet found anything that covers both messages and voice in app form other than skype which I confirmed is not compatible with her model of phone.

Oh I though she had access to browser?
App wise, I'll have to keep looking.

Preferring to stay away from browser since apps are far more convenient and because browsers always run very sluggish on my cappy for some reason.

Should hassle Ebuddy to make a app then lol
But if you wanna try it, there's a bare naked browser (ugly but fasssst) on here. Called naked browser I believe.

Looks like the exact app I need and it's compatible with blackberry. Will give it a try. Thanks!
ETA: Looks like Blackberry devices can not use the VoIP feature yet but they say it will be available eventually.
Turns out you need a number for viber and my device is wifi-only. After some research I found that you can use any phone number that can receive SMS because it's for them to send you a registration PIN. I tried both my GV and Heywire numbers and haven't received that text on either one. :\

What's your email app?

I've tried 20 apps and I don't really like most of them.
What are ppl using?
I honestly liked the old 4.1 stock app and want something similar.
I want manual sync, but I want the app to auto sync upon opening, which surprisingly none of them do. I know u just have to pull down to sync, but hey, one less step, is one less step.
I also am having trouble finding an app where u can easily delete from the app. I think I'm deleting emails throughout the day, only to find them all still there when I go to hotmail on my computer.
When I hit delete, I want it to delete, not go to trash so I have to open an entirely different folder and delete that for it to really be gone.
I'm just going to keep trying them, but if you guys have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

I use OWA Webmail app. As my employer has prevented me configuring mail apps for our exchange server. This one works though!
try this Email Mail Exchange @Blue
Have you tried Mailbox by Dropbox? I've been using Inbox by Google since it came out. I like the idea but it can get confusing at times. Gonna give Mailbox a try since it comes highly recommended.
Aquamail
I'm actually using Lollipop Gmail, considering it now supports other mail accounts natively.
Of course, it doesn't have any fancy features... But I enjoy it. It works well.

Profimail for corporate mail and Inbox for Gmail.
It will be great when the guys release the feature of getting mail from Exchange.
