Camera and ram problem - Huawei Ideos X6

Hi,
I just bought the Spice version of X6 (Spice MI-410)
Its a killer phone but I've got a few problems with it . Currently I've sent it for replacement. the problems are
1.How much RAM does it have. Before buying it I checked everywhere it said that there was 512 MB RAM.But quadrant standard shows 352 MB total and free is usually 170-200 MB. It would be okay if free memory would have been 350 as the OS consumes RAM but it shows TOTAL 352 MB and then goes ahead and deducts 150 MB more.
Can anybody check and tell me if thats the case with every mobile or only this one.
2.CAMERA. It records really slowly and , I dont know how to explain this, but the picture looks solarized even with normal settings. Everything looks as its been painted ( like solarization but to a less degree - although it becomes extreme at times depending on light) . I ve tried camera 360 which shows the same results.
In areas with even a bit of shadows, it appears fully dark. talk about 5MP
Is this really the quality of the camera or was only this one faulty, because the shopkeeper showed me another model which had the same problem
Anyways I've sent it for replacement as the front camera(again REALLY bad quality) looked like it was recording through moisture ( shopkeeper didnt accept my back cam and ram problems) , so will I get the same quality or a better phone.
PS - I 've looked at video recordings online but they are all outside with minimal shadows , so I dont know if only this phone had the problem or not. Sorry didnt extract photos befrore submitting the phone so I could show them to you.
PPS- REALLY Sorry for the long rant , but I like giving all info , and is everybody Indian on the X6 forum (me too)

Dude for camera I wanna say its frame per second is too low (only 15fps)... Thats why u r facing solarizing effect which u r saying in ur thread. For improve the camera quality u have to overclock ur camera....! I don't know how to overclock camera Searching the same...

@Serecomputing
Thanks for the reply. Do you face that stupid effect too ( Is it on every handset ?). I am asking because reviewers said that the camera is good ( look up iGyaan's upload of the phone's video and photo samples, they look good and smooth, but then again they are outdoor samples)
What about the RAM?
PS- could some mod remove the 5 min editing limit on me?

mi410 RAM
How much RAM does have in spice MI 410.Before buying it I checked everywhere it said that there was 512 MB RAM.But quadrant standard shows 380 MB total..

Also facing same camera problem and 380 mb ram.....!!!

Okay , it seems like the cam and ram are built like that. So do any of the uber extreme hax modders know anyway to fix these problems . Both are BIG bummers.

bump.
Can somebody upload a video sample , preferably both indoors and outdoors.
And don't forget to tell how much RAM is there.

I heard some where that the ram is use for the graphics processor and that is why it only shows 350mb

Oh and specs everywhere show that it has 2GB internal memory (ROM) but screenshots and my personal experience give 0.97 GB .
Is everything a lie about this phone!!?!?!!

Blue Snow on HTC Touch (Viva's) Camera !

Hi all thought I would share this information... I saw posts on other HTC brand sections regarding the camera view being hazy, green-blue dots or blue snow-like...
I personally had this problem, and it turned out to be due to "overclocking" of the cpu, (in my case with Pocket hack master), so if any of you experiencing the same, try to adjust hack master so that it makes the cpu go the highest speed, but when opening "Windows\camera.exe" decrease the speed to the damn 201 Mhz (lol believe me theres no difference in quality).
hehehe thank you so much for that
cool one to install
Thanks Khortoom for the info!
One question though, how does it works the viva overcloked? is there any noticeable improvement in the performance? Stability?

[Q] smoothness?

might be a stupid question in general but is any developing heading towards steering up the ****ty smoothness in the galaxy s in general?
feels like im running 5 fps at some points, so i was kinda wondering..
ofc iops is is crap aswell but i dont really mind ****ty accesstimes as long as the smoothness is preserved, so~
can anything be done about this or do i throw this piece of .."phone" under my 70ton excavator? ;(
//regards azure
READ THE FORUM!
There are plenty of fixes.
@Mods: Close this thread asap!
sadly none of em fixes the smoothness, they just boast higher io rate not fps >_<
im not sure if you know what the difference between "rendered frames per sec" is vs "reads/writes from an sdchip" causing i/o lag
but in short it means theres 2 types of "lags" one of them being addressed atm, and sadly its not the fps one.
or are my demands too high to request from the phone? >_<
I'm not really sure what exactly you're referring to when you say "smoothness", but try using a different launcher (I'd recommend LauncherPro). LauncherPro has always felt "smoother" to me!
yes, a good example of smoothness on 2.1. whats worse is that on the new firmwares it constantly dips when it goes beneath 22mb cache causing a frameratedrop, and due to the galaxy s being hampered with vsync w/o the fps to back the refreshrate up it stutters i.e gets halved fps for a short amount of time, might just be a sec or 2 but when its constantly there it starts to grow out as a nail in the eye ;(
and my highest wish ofc is to be able to use the tw appdrawer style which isnt possible with anything else today ;(
although thank you very mucho for the tip and im open for any other suggestions aswell, gonna try to get a hold of the driverfile in the meantime
people are trying to tell you the problem is not in the video, which is true.
you are experiencing the lag, that many are complaining about.
the system lags when you've got too many apps running or iddling in the background.
you can either install the various lag fixes people have developed
or you can simply install a good task manager + auto run killer and control which apps to allow in memory, and which should be closed when not in use.
well quite frankly i dont even need a single app installed or opened to see it, just freshly install any 2.2 fw and pinch, there you have it, open up the apppreviews in the same manner, once again, even if it opens up faster with any lagfix (ill hand you that much atleast since ive tried all availible fw's and lagfixes, kernels you name it) it still looks at the very least as its frameskipping like an old NES >_<
if that is the case, it might be a defective screen/video in your unit.
might want to consider having it exchanged..
I can count at most roughly 5 people that have mentioned something similar to what you found.
Personally i'm still on stock 2.1 and i do not see those flame skipping you have described.
do you have any App specifically where to reproduce this?
i play 3D games and run all kind of apps in my SGS and it've yet to see a skipped frame
aye i do too and i havent noticed anything quite as severe as the homescreen other when the framerate drops from vsync 1:1 to 2:1 or even 4:1 ( clearly visible in quadrant bench when its up on 56 its smooth and when it drops to 30 its choppy) ideally id just wanna rid myself of it since i doubt ill have to worry about screentearing on an sgx540 lol and the biggest hickup would be somewhat soothened since i imagine the real frame drop is less than 50%, anyways thx for the feedback, gonna have it turned in for a check and stop using the ip4 >_<

Slow and laggy phone

Hi guys.
My new LG Optimus 2x (preinstalled android 2.2.2) is very slow and "unsmooth" on the main LG Interface.
I still rooted the device and uninstall f-secure and car-app, cause I read, this apps can make problems, but the problem is still there.
Applications are running well, but the main system always laggs. If I download a few apps from marketplace, the phone totaly freezes for seconds :-(
And I´m wondering about shown RAM, when I take a look at Android Optimizer App. My total RAM showa 372MB, but I thought, this phone has 512MB RAM? Maybe my Device is not working correctly?
Can someone help me?
THX!

I experienced the same. Can be solved to a large extent with paul's custom rom. Nevertheless I hope that coming updates improve the phone. Its by no means using its full potential.
What I can only barely accept is the low reception. I was in several rural areas where i had no reception. My gf had each time 3 of 4 bars on her htc legend and on the same service provider as I. Thats really not too well. I couldnt even make a call.

yes with pauls rom it becomes better but still laggy when installing progs, ...
hope to get update soon because it is a very good phone (and good price).

Yeah, that´s right. I have a second phone, HTC 7 Trophy with wp7, and so I was dissapointed about performance and phone/wlan power (even have network, gsm or wlan, with trophy, but not with lg).
Can someone say something about missing RAM? Datasheet: 512MB RAM, shown in Android Optimzer: 372MB....thx

512mb of ram is the TOTAL ram the phone has, the 372mb of ram is USER AVAILABLE RAM. the other part is used by system and its apps.

512MB - ram used for GPU = ram available
damn, that´s heavy, I looked at a Desire, they have up to 100MB more free RAM...
The ram should not be a big issue. With proper programming and good ram management by the os a todays phone should never use more than 512 mb. Kinda silly with 1 gb, only encourages sluggish coding.

Whenever I have had ram shown on the phone I've never had over 200 and I find that it decreases through the day whether things are open or not very frustrating! I'm disappointed with the phone so far I was expecting alot better and the software isn't suitable for the phone at all. Hopefully updates will arrive soon.

get autokiller off market, activate the extreme preset if you want some extra free ram. Removing some useless stock apps also helps.
The original LG home launcher does seem to be laggy, try something like launcherPro, it seems to be much smoother.
Android is not like Windows, the RAM management is completely different. The performance issues your having is unrelated to the amount of free RAM you have. When a Windows pc runs out of RAM, it will start writing data to the hard drive. Of course accessing this data is much slower than reading from RAM. That's why increasing RAM can have a major effect in Windows. Android don't do this, instead it closes background programs(and saves it's state?), to free RAM as needed.
This is from the top of my memory, please correct me if I'm wrong.

You guys who complain about bad network reception, have you all noticed that there is a small piece of foil on the lower end of the phone under the battery lid that should be removed? It's a blueish strip of plastic foil and harder to peel of than the other protective foils on the phone. Removing it has increased my cell reception from about 25% to 55-65% indoors at my place (measured with Phono).
Ermm no didnt know. Thanks for the hint. Just removed it and hoping for improvement.

About installing apps: I remembered that when CM switched to ext4 as base file system the phone stopped being inresponsive while installing apps. my phone is with ext3 now (total stock, to check if it still auto reboots) and yes it lags like hell while installing! I managed to keep the phone responsive after unlocking by removing juice defender (otherwise the phone was lagging like hell untill the wifi kicked in).
No foil on mine

AFAIK LG phones = bad reception, I had one before this and it was shockingly bad - going downstairs = no reception. I've moved since then so can't really compare
thats not the case with my O2x
It has far better reception than my Iphone 4 or my HTC Desire or any other phone I have owned. Inside my house reception has allways been very poor and its almost impossible for any phone to get reception, I normally have to move around in the house and find a spot just to get connected. But with my O2x I now have excellent reception everywhere in the house which was a hughe surprise to me when I got it.
PS: I also get the very annoying lag when installing apps on my O2x - while my single core Desire and my single core tablet Archos 70it doesnt.
I really hope LG can make us a better rom when rolling out Gingerbread.
complaining about free ram is ... and using of any task killer apps is useless.
if the phone is getting out of memory it will close unneeded processes automatically.
And it doesn‘t make a difference wether if ram is full or totally empty, it‘s the same power consumption.
Ram is there to be used!!!

Some questions about xperia sp

1. Does the lte version "C5303" support hspda+?
2. How much ram is user available?
3. Is the camera quality really bad compared to other 8mp devices?
4. Does it come with pre installed screen protector?
5. Does the phone gets hot while using it?
6. Overall is it better than the galaxy s3?

1. Yes
2. RAM or internal SD card? The 'user' doesn't really use RAM. About 5GB.
3. Camera is fine, but not excellent, which it should be. Considering Sony makes the iphone camera this is clearly a software issue hopefully updates will improve.
4. Mine came with a protector you could attach yourself (easy, see youtube for advice on perfect applications.)
5. It runs hotter than my previous phone, but not to the point that I'm worried.
6. Really difficult to say - the S3 was the best phone of 2012, the SP is a middle of the range phone from 2013. However in terms of screen size and performance the SP is very good - a bigger internal memory, a 1080p screen and extra RAM and it's a top end device.
The Samsung flagships are about massive screen, top processor and being super thin. In General Sony is more conservative, but they are less frail (I see so many S3/4s and iphones with cracked broken screens).

1. Yes
2. About 760MB in total, so on an average day about 300-350MB is free, in practice this means 100-150MB as 200MB is always reserved. I've never seen 1GB diminish so quickly! By rooting the phone you can grab some of that reserved 200MB back.
3. No. it's OK. What sucks is Sony's over processing. Too much sharpening, too much noise reduction. I don't think this will change, it's how Sony does things. If you don't "pixel peep", the overall photo quality is great.
4. No. But Gorilla Glass shouldn't need one unless you're very fussy about minute scratches.
5. Yes, when using it hard like long downloads over 3G.

I guess the reserved RAM of 240 MB for android system is out of 1 GB & not from 760 MB. Out of this 760 MB, one gets anything from 200-350 MB free depending on the apps running in background.

I think the difference between the advertised 1GB and actual 760MB is for the GPU (Graphics) unless someone knows otherwise.
What I'm complaining about is even when the system says you have, say, 350MB left, the Android "minfree memory" parameter, which seems to be set to "200MB" on the SP, ensures you only get about 150MB, which explains why memory hungry apps like Opera browser cause other apps to be closed.
I believe rooting enables you to change the 200MB reserved memory to a lower value, say 50MB.

[Q] Micormax Canvas A114 2.2 HD or Gionee M2

So i wanna buy a smartphone ,there 2 are my choices
1, Gionee M2. http://www.gogi.in/gionee-m2-review.html
2. Micromax A114 http://www.gogi.in/micromax-canvas-a114-review.html
My major concerns are camera, sound and performance
Judging by above reviews i think i terms of camera and music gionee wins. Gionee also had better earphones
both have quad core processor of 1.3 ghz..
Micomax's free ram on 1st boot is 759 mb te Gionee's free ram on 1st boot is 441 mb.. So how much it will effect performance?
what should i do? which one should i buy?
Hi! I'm using Gionee M2 and it's awesome in every way. I've used many phones but this phone is great in performance, camera, music and let's say in everything.. most important is it's battery backup. Talking about RAM, it's not affecting phone's performance at all. Till yet I've not faced any lag in my phone. Also about service center it's good than that of micromax. so go for it and I'm sure you'll not be dissatisfied.
thanks,,.. can u tell me how much ram is free on your system now? and hows the camera quality at nigjht? yes m thinking i'll go for M2 .. amazing battery back up
Right now free RAM is 340 mb and really you won't regret by purchasing this phone.. if you multi task, like to play heavy games, fond of clicking pictures and shooting videos then this phone will prove to be very nice. Doesn't lag while doing all of the above activities. And clicked pics at night time is cool and very clear, it's having good flash compared to micromax. It can record videos in full HD and quality is mp4. In micromax, guess video quality will be 3gp. Gionee is giving great configurations at very decent price.
Here's Antutu scores for Gionee M2.
