Why are you asking when gingerbread for o2x? It's clear, it will be released the 12/21/2012

You know something Guys...We Have the Leaked Roms..why bother with Blaming LG for the Upgrade when we can actually see that they are really working on it..Slow No doubt but atleast they are working. Its not like anything will change with the official Launch.

Why is it then, that the community can bring out a ROM and they can't? Do they have 1 monkey coding all of it? Their support is just below par and I am never buying a phone from them again.

I agree with that:Even i am not buying another LG...but i am just pointing out that GB is still available....leaked i agree..but available for download none the less...and its pointless to keep creating new topics with the Same Rants!!

Food for thought
Why should we root our phone, void our warranty when it is clearly LG responsibility to resolve them?
Worst support I ever encounter! I will never get another LG fone

I hate it when people are ranting stuff. SE's X10 is stuck with the 2.1 within years. Motorola's Atrix just got it's GB. Not too late for the LG. Samsung's also bombed by rants on discontinuing updates on it's Galaxy Spica. Nokia's symbian line is nearly dead.
But luckily we have lots of talented devs out there all working for free. And all I hear are freaking rants/hate or whatever they forgot to fix.
Go back to the stone age. The stones are final, no bugs attached.

Éclair ROM?

Does anybody know when we might get a Éclair ROM? I'm already bored with Donut and seeing the screen shots is like
"¡DAMN!"
Btw, I searched! So please don't yell at me. =)
No one has ported the Éclair dump yet, so no ROM.

Do you know how long it usually takes for the ROM to be developed?
Eclair has been dumped but not with the release keys only test keys. I'd say it's just a matter of time now that the Droid has an official release date.
Does Eclair = Android 2.0?

If you follow the thread, you'll see that they are very, very close to getting it to successfully boot. That said, once they do, you still will not be flashing it to your phone (unless you are very unwise). Just getting it to boot doesn't mean that it will be anything close to usable. Developing a ROM is an active process. It starts out a total unusable mess, and grows into, say, what CyanMod is now. (I've used every experimental Cyan release since the 3.x days, and it used to be kinda messy)

It's good if they will actually stick to their word this time but it's still quite crap that it will have taken them nearly 6 months to release. When the devs on here have already released gingerbread ROMs!!
Come on LG some your [email protected]#t out!!
I wish people would stop posting these, it's clear that LG have no idea when they're releasing it.
It especially didn't need a new thread when there are so many on it already.

It will be when we decide ( just instal CM7 or modaco ) and will be 1000% much better than any LG rom

Would still be great to have the sources for 2.3 - together with the LG Apps (esp. Camera app) which will work on 2.3 ...
the main reason, maybe LG didn't know how to make GB fully operational in optimus 2x or they too busy to prepare a new comer, optimus 3d etc. etc?
Probably the amount of bugs to fix
don't hold your breath.
One thing is for sure.
There are going to be a lot of Pissed off people if we get the GB update and the phone still suffers from overheating and shutdown issues

Sam Lewis of ATT called me shortly after this tweet was sent out. He advised me it is ultimately HTC that is responsible for the bootloader being locked. Not sure how much keeping his job may have swayed his response but we shall find out soon enough

I fully agree. I really like the Vivid but I feel with out root and s-off Im not using the phone to the fullest. I have 15 days left and if the above is not done by then, Ill be ordering a rocket (which I do not want to do...)
I now have a phone dialog going with ATT Customer Care because of a few tweets.
They implied that they expect me to relay that information back to the community and said they realize by talking to me they are talking to the community as a whole.
I have kept the situation updated HERE
Wow! We have incredible people here. I really feel like we're all making a difference!

the way I see it... a voice is a voice... even an angry voice.
HTC & AT&T need to hear as many voices as possible... go ahead and be angry... let them know...
I and others with direct lines of communication will be calm and reasonable and can point to the angry people... and say "see the natives are restless"
Looks like I should get a twitter account one of these years lol.
They don't give a crap if you contact them in an angry manner. Those of us complaining about this are a minority, most people that buy these phones don't know anything about this stuff. The majority have never heard of rooting, or unlocked bootloaders, or ciq. They may appear to be listening but if they really were action would have been taken already. I'm glad I'm not an overly paranoid person, I'd never be able to use a cellphone after learning about all of this info that is collected every day.

Your post looks exactly like the one I put on the "Why AT&T users should boycott" threadm, I'm glad someone shares my opinion lol. While a boycott does nothing because of us being the minority, spamming their social media can actually do something. The general public does have a Facebook or Twitter, so when they see people complaining every single day about the same stuff on HTC's page, that doesn't look good at all on HTC's part. It raises awareness as opposed to just quietly boycotting a device when we are such a small percentage.

Who pays to root your phone

Mod edit: Thread close as my paranoid side tells me this is free advertisement. If not, thread closed for teh LULZ then.
Cheerio,
Or is it just simply for people who do not know anything about rooting trying to root
why root when you dont know ?
hmm
maybe just maybe
Well, if you are completely technologically illiterate, then paying $35 dollars is nothing compared to paying $500 to replace your device if you ruin it. Don't you agree?

There is alot of reasons people would want their phone rooted even if they didn't know how to do it. Remove bloatware, speed up the UI, use incompatible apps...and alot more.
I do agree that you should do it yourself to know how to fix it if something goes wrong, but when it comes down to it, it is their phone and they can do with it as they please.
The same could be said for basically anything though. If you can't change your own oil, should you be driving a car?

I agree with this. I cant root my phone (on my own). But I followed someone elses guide & was succesful. My GF has a wildfire S, & has constant problems with lack of memory. She cant root, or even follow a guide, but it needs doing to make the phone usable.
Guess it's a service they are providing but consumers might as well go on YouTube or Google and save yourselves $30. God knows how their software works. Good luck to them trying to explain to someone on how to unlock the HTC One X for example with their software.

Lol you should explain to them that that's not how It works!
Rooting a phone Is a joke IMO, Who would pay $35? I mean If It were flashing ROM's and what not then I somewhat understand that as that's where the brick can happen but can you really brick doing a simple root that takes less then 5 minutes?

Umm no. You have far more of a chance bricking your phone during the root process than flashing a ROM. Rooting can involve unlocking bootloaders, changing bootloaders, using unsecure boot images, flashing unsecure kernels...all of which can brick a phone...even if doen correctly. Flashing a ROM, 99.99999% of the time will not brick your phone.
I think this is only for very noobs

MIUI for our beloved N4: finally?

Hey MIUI fanatics out there!
Last night, I stumbled on this post on G+:
https://plus.google.com/103335486449456213484/posts/DHeDAbUeVsQ
The guy clearly runs a full blown android 4.2.2 MIUI rom on his GNex, which is pretty exciting, cuz a port to our device shouldn't be that difficult at this point. Or is it...?
Well, thought I had to share this. Let's keep our fingers crossed...
Regards.

MIUI on any device is like running a port of a port on a port of a port that was ported from a port that only works right 68% of the time. No thanks.
(Sarcasm caution)
What is miui..?
I've seen it mentioned since the nexus s days, never run it on a phone.
Not my thing..
Lol okay obviously I'm the only one who's excited

People here usualy poo-poo MIUI, although they will claim anywhere else that Android=choice... Don't worry too much about this logic issue
OP, if you look at the MIUI forums, they have launched beta builds for Gnex and believe me there are a lot of bugs now. Once, it passes onto stable, someone or I might port it for mako.
Miui is always lagging way far behind Google on Android versions. And the version that they are on is usually very bug ridden. I like it but I hate dealing with major bugs, little bugs don't bother me to much.

Well, I ve tried V5 on the i9000, and it s simply so slow it cannot be used.
I also tried on the i9300, and it is quite nice over there, so there's hope.
But I agree, it is not as fast as a nice aosp/cm 10.1/AOKP ^^.
I like how different it looks, and weither I ll use it for a long time or not, well, let's see!
I d give a spin to iOS if it were ported, just for the sake of running it on the N4, ahha
