Well, thank you doomlord for this . Now I won't flash to downgrade anymore for rooting. (If it developed before 0% issue... )

yes... since it works on the latest .42 FW it should easily work on ALL older firmware too for ALL XPERIA 2011 DEVICES!!!!

Thanks mate, I was just worried about possibly getting the 0% battery problem again.-

Will this process affect or delete files on the sd card?

Yep. I like that too now.
But when I unlocked the bootloader few months back, I was disappointed as the reason was just for the cause of "root" access.

[Q] How to root P970 Gingerbread V20N

I made this thread in order to discuss possibilities of how to root the latest software for our phone. It's about v20N mainly. Let's try to keep this one clean and root our phone
You can already find a procedure for V20B here: Root V20b
FIND ROOT FOR V20n HERE Root V20N
Methods tried and fail:
http://www.unlockroot.com/? not clear yet...
unlockroot (not clear yet...)
Gingerbreak different Versions
SuperOneClick 2.3.3
Blackjack 1.2.0
adb push wont work for me at least...
SoC
z4root
vipermod
thrill
doomlord all version
androidnerds.net/2011/10/08/lg-esteem-oneclickroot-now-ready/
Gingersnap Root Itility tells me it succeeded, but root still aint present...
adding that ratc exploit
Working so far:
adb install *.apk
According to Redpik: "Superoneclick 2.3.3 was able to copy busybox into /system/tmp but couldn't find the glitch."
Local rooting, since some apps like rootchecker show our phone is rooted
As it seems, Unlockroot also works for some with v20n, maybe even others, if they disable the LGE Modem.
I somehow managed to root it by aproxymately doing this:
Enable debugging mode
Disable LGE Modem
Plug in USB cable
open UnlockRoot
click root
REBOOT and DONE!
Code:
-edited-, cause it didnt work with the method posted before.
Kill adb server
Starting adb server...
Get online devices
Try LGE shell rooting...
push file to device : rootutility
chmod file 755 rootutility
Restarting debug mode...
Waiting for debug mode...
push file to device : busybox
push file to device : su
chmod file 755 busybox
push file to device : Superuser.apk
Rooting, please wait...
Root Succeed!
Root finished!
Noone could reproduce the root till now, but I'll keep on trying.
It somehow worked and I made a nandroid of this. Link below...
How to flash it:
1. unzip the file
2. Take the whole folder and put it on ur SD card under sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/
3. You need a rooted phone where you can access recovery by either using a app like RomManager or by adb shell via: adb reboot recovery (thnx to gabwerkz, since I didnt know)
4. reboot to recovery either via command or APP
5. choose backup and restore
6. choose restore
7. choose the foldername u just put onto ur SD card
alternatively (PRO USERS ONLY)
go till step 5
and then choose whatever you wanna have
Thats it so far. Maybe a MOD can take this thread and moderate it, since I hardly have time (but if possible also gimme right to edit it).
You also will find the solution in this post, as soon as any1 made it
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seems like I made it
here is the link to a complete NANDROID BACKUP
http://www.multiupload.com/ZGYX5J4AG1
ITS rooted V20N GB software for p970.
THIS IS NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP! UNPACK IT AND FOLLOW GUIDE ABOVE!
IF you want a flashable zip, pls go to Redy's thread, he repacked and added some tweaks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441901
Big thanks to Redy!!
Or use Zeus ROM by huexxx: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454274
DO A FACTORY RESET AFTER FLASHING, WILL FIX SOME PROBLEMS!
Mick2K suggested me to post, that you should install busybox after the procedure and update su binaries, so that everything works fine.

Can you correct the title not just "root our GB", to be more specific please.. Perhaps such as "[Q] How to root P970 Gingerbread V20N", or anything you'd like to be specific..
Thanks.

This may be a long shot as I am not sure how the exploits work but...
It seems one issue is with not be able to set read/write to the systems folder.
I have been unable to mount the systems folder as writable. I think this is where the fundamental issues seem to be.
Superoneclick 2.3.3 was able to copy busybox into /system/tmp but couldn't find the glitch.

[ Help Needed ] Rooting Samsung Galaxy Music Duos GT-S6012

So I've the Samsung Galaxy Music Duos GT-S6012 and here's some more details of this :
Manufacturer: samsung
Model: GT-S6012
Android Version: 4.0.4
Region : INS
Build ID: IMM76D.S6012XWAMC1
Board ID: rhea
Device : Ivory
Product Name : Ivory XX
OS Architecture : ARMv71
Chipset Platform: rhea
SDK Ver : 15
Kernel : 3.0.15 - 1209737 [email protected] Dell 209#1 Wed Mar 13 01 :20:09 KST 2013
I know there's three threads already on this topic but none of this has a step by step guide with exact procedure and necessary files needed to root this device. I've tried almost everything to root the device but without any results - things I've tried :
Installed JDK and adb in proper order.
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 - no go.
2. SuperOneClick - hangs at a certain point
3. UnlockRoot app - model not supported.
4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822445 - needs CWM but CWM has no support for my device.
5. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28178105 - same as previous ( needs CWM ) and with stock recovery I get file signature verification error and Odin won't let me flash using an Insecure kernel.
6. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980683 - no support for my device.
7. SRSRoot rebooted my device with several exploit methods but failed.
8. Some more manual methods with ADB shell/su commands but I can't get access to su with this error "su: not found "
9. Tried some root helper apk apps inside of the phone same result as before.
Tried extracting the necessary files from official rom to modify and make a root mod but odinatrix failed to extract files form the official tar.md5 archive and I don't have much experience on modifying such files. This tar.md5 file is different and not a single windows based archiving tools can't even open it.
Anyway, I feel like total lost as there's no proper step by step rooting method ( working ) and files for this device .. moreover the GT-S6012 is not listed even on xda-developers. ( one of the world's finest place for such mod works ).
For Christ sake someone please help me out with this as none of the previous discussion on this had gone too far resulting in a successful method .. If someone can really make a modified flash able kernel / some files so that Samsung GT-S6012 can be successfully rooted it would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, here's the link to the official firmware :

Things to do before rooting
1. Make a nandroid back up
2. Enable usb debugging
3. Charge should be atleast 60%
4. Disable security apps
5. Usb driver installed on your pc(adb+fastboot)
6. Download root tool.www.mediafire.com/?cnvohexs662qvo9
Steps
Step 1: First of all, connect your
Galaxy Music to the PC using
original USB cable.
Step 2: Now, from the folder
where you have extracted the
“Root Tool”, double-click on
“RunMe.bat” file to launch it.
Step 3: Next, when the application
opens up, it will ask you which
type you want to run, it is advised
that you select “Normal” entering
“1”.
Step 4: Now, follow all the on-
screen instructions you see to
successfully root your device.
Now you succsflly rooted you phone......

I have enable usb debugging and unknown sources. (Open JDK is also installed to get the flash tool done)
I want to know how to root my device using flash tool and unlock the boot loader.
Someone can help me on this (I'm not a advance user of Linux) or can someone send some links from which i can learn on this issue.

I got the flash tool working on Ubuntu 13.04 and i tried DoomLord easy rooting tool kit many time but it just run the script in Ubuntu and do nothing.(I extracted the file and click on the .sh file).
I have enable usb debugging and unknown sources. (Open JDK is also installed to get the flash tool done)
I want to know how to root my device using flash tool and unlock the boot loader.

Hey Mate!
I used Ubuntu 13.04 to root my device and then unlock bootloader.
Its super easy. But you need to tell me whether after plugging in the device, it's getting recognized in Nautilus or not.
Let me know. :good:

* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
and further i just check with my software center it says i have installed Android Debug Bridge CLI tool (android-tools-adb)

Did you download the latest version of Flashtool?
I suggest you root first. While rooting keep in mind:
(1) enable "USB DEBUGGING"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications\Development)
(2) enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications)
(3) [OPTIONAL] increase screen timeout to 10 minutes
(4) connect USB cable to PHONE and then connect to PC
My files were extracted in Downloads folder in a folder called root. So adjust your steps accordingly.
Go to this folder, right click on linux_me.sh and select properties. From permissions, set as executable.
Then go to terminal. and type
cd `/Downloads/root
sudo sh ./runme_linux.sh
Type in the password and hit enter. Follow the instructions and you will be rooted.
Hope this helps

[Q] need help with rooting

I have an Xperia T its says that the boot loader can't be unlocked but is there still a way to root the phone to put superuser on it.
Its my first android and any help will be appreciated and please direct me to where i need to be.
the build number for the phone its 9.1.A.1.145
Yes, rooting is possible without unlocking the bootloader. Please read the All-in-One thread, all the information is in there. Then, use Doomlord's Easy Rooting Toolkit to root.

OK number 2 should work....
Have you enabled unknown sources in security?
yes and it didn't work so is there any other root loaders that work on mac as i don't like using my little sisters laptop
hahaha
You never said it was mac
Try a Linux machine, or windows 7
i was on a windows laptop and its not very good and i was asking if there was any mac versions of the root loaders
again,
try linux
i haven't got a linux machine only a windows 8 laptop and an iMac so is there any .sh that will work on mac
Can confirm that option 2 no longer works from the .145 firmware. I need to go back to stock and restore my backup TA to send the phone back for warranty repair. I start the display service test as instructed and nothing happens. I'm on windows 7.

I have the same problem even though I have been rooted before. Haven't found a solution yet.

Use mtp (media transfer mode) instead of msc. I had this problem and I fixed it with this method
Sent from my LT30p using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The solution I found was just to flash a .303 ftf and root it from that. Rooting becomes very easy.
