[CWM5] CWM recovery for Galaxy Note - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Android Development

Hi guys,
Read this first!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
I found this device section with stock firmware, so this step was easy for me to make CWM recovery.
I have compared the pitfile from Note to Galaxy S II, the partition names are the same.
I know for sure the partition size aren't xD
I don't know the download counter of reset jig works, maybe you can't set the counter back on 0 ...
You flash this via Odin, the one included by stock firmwares.
Root
For root, flash this via CWM: http://goo-inside.me/superuser/Superuser-3.0.6-efgh-signed.zip
Sources
The sources are the Samsung ones, the initramfs is also Samsung ones, with my own compiled CWM.
Features
- CWM 5
- Init.d support
- EFS backup - check /hidden with rootexplorer!
More coming soon!
Enjoy!

Great news!
I am very interested in getting this phone/tab =D
Hopes it have great xda support!

I have compared the pit file from Note to Galaxy S II, they are the same.
Maybe different in partition size, but the numbers are the same.
That is good news as the recovery.fstab from Galaxy S II is usable for Note.
I dont need to configure all over again.
BTW, the kernel is getting compiled

am i right that it is rooted then too?

You can root it via a flashable zip file.

Someone has tried?

The jig usb is the same of gs2 and reset the counter!

what a flashable zip file?

A CWM flashable zip file, there is in the app and the binary.
You flash it via CWM, and then you have root.

Yes, your device is then rooted
You do it the good way
If it goes wrong you flash stock firmware via Odin WITHOUT repartition, efs clear, nand lock etc.

CWM kernel works just fine. Thank you very much.
Unfortunately rooting via zip file didn't (states that it does everything and superuser is installed but root explorer is not recognized as root aquiring application).
Any ideas netchip?

Question about Kernels and root

If my note is was never rooted and I just flashed a speedmod kernel which is already rooted, will i have a rooted phone? thanks.
I don't think so.. You may not have root access now. For a complete and proper root follow this thread.. Here is the link

If you are not rooted, then how you flash sppedmod kernel?
Yes, it will be rooted. In fact this was exactly how I first rooted my phone...
Steps:
1. Open PC Odin 1.85 (make sure adb drivers are installed in your PC)
2. Click PDA and select Speedmod kernel in .tar archive
3. Click Start!
Result: rooted stock ROM with working CWM recovery
Extra bonus: Yellow triangle AND custom binary counter +1 (Free of Charge!)
In case you don't want the extra bonus, do a jig method to remove them (which I did too).

Yes I can, I tried to downgrade to GB but it failed as well :/
I don't really clearly understood your issue.
But if you want to flash a Stock ICS Rom, start ODIN PC, start your SGNote in download mode (button volume down + home + power), then connect your SGNote to your PC and flash via ODIN PC.
If you don't know exactly how to use ODIN PC, check tutos on the forum.

When you say "it failed" you are going to have to be more specific. Please give us an error message. Did you get a NAND write start and factoryfs.img and it just freeze after that in Odin?

Reinstall your ADB/USB drivers, make sure you're using USB2.0 port - for me USB3.0 always results in failed flash, ultimately switch USB ports.

The file you download from dr. Ketan is a .rar file, unzip it once and you get a .tar file. Flash that file with Odin in pda section. So don`t unzip the .tar file again.

To start with - you need root to flash this custom ROM, so unrooting your device was a mistake, you have to root it again.
Now, i've never flashed Criskelo's ROM, but from what i've read in the thread, you need to root your device, flash Chainfire's ICS repack via mobile odin, and then flash criskelo rom via CWM. Do not unpack the .zip file, you need to point CWM to that file.

As I found in another thread that the deodex version of the ROM has bootloop , I have decided to flash the official version first and then root it. I have not done anything before on my stock 4.1.2 I.e no CWM or root . For this ROM is it sufficient to keep system recovery or I have to install cwm recovery , after flashing through Odin does the warranty violated ? Please clear my doubt and also provide Odin link .
Thanks in advance .One more question, what about lag compare to 4.1.2 ?

You flash the Rom via TWRP you flash the Modem via Odin!!!!

That's exactly what i did (in that order) and I got a bootloop.
I was able to fix it by restoring my backup and ODIN flashing the ANI1 modem.
So I got the ROM to boot with the old modem, however the fingerprint scanner does not work and my Gear Vr headset just shows a blue screen when I put it on.
Think I'll wait a few days/weeks till the bugs are all worked out

Looks like it's the modem that's causing the boot loop. I just flashed the ROM and booted fine with the NI1 modem.

Same issues here with the finger print scanner using NI1 modem. I also was stuck in boot loop on the NJ5 modem.
Ugh, my fingerprint sensor is still messed up after restoring back to Definitive ROM.
"An error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor". Rebooting doesn't help. Anyone have a workaround for this?
