Android Apps Development - Malaysia - Off-topic

which are the applications frames works which we get with Android Development?

you made a thread which is more like a mini forum inside a sub forum in a forum?
you just broke my "acts of noobs" record!

development or q+a?

Hey. This is an open ended question to prompt discussion here. Not to flame / attack anyone.
Firstly thankyou for the q+a section - invaluable resourse.
My question is this. On several occasions I have seen threads deleted / moved / closed with the explanation of "wrong sub forum". That's it. I realise that modding is difficult. But surely to learn we need to know what's wrong with where we post not just that it is wrong.
One recent example is a thread asking about developing a piece of software to simplify sdcard splitting.
I would have thought development was the right place but the thread was closed and told that it was the wrong place. So, what defines development from q+a? If I have a question about development then should I post in both forums as it is development and a question?
Development is just that - DEVELOPMENT. Questions should NOT be asked there. Questions are to be asked here. No matter what kind of questions they are.
ok, that sounds sensible

Lol yesterday the entire front page of the development section was locked because ignorant people were posting questions when there is CLEARLY a Q&A section. Some of us camp out here to help people...Who ever said you're never going to get help in this section.

[Q] Is this sub forum needed?

Just wondering if a Q&A sub forum is really needed? The General forum is already being almost exclusively used for Q&A, and people are reposting a lot of questions here that have already been asked and answered in the General...

I'm not sure, but according to the title of this forum, you're not supposed to post any questions to the other Forum. I don't know how useful it will be if people are limited to posting tips only there.
One good thing about this forum is that because the volume is smaller (for the moment) your posts are closer to the top and thus, easier to find.

i was asking myself the same thing the first day when they created it.
it's redundant to General forum
almost anyone posting will begin with a question, in the end General will become obsolete, and everyone will be using Q&A instead
maybe, but if this sticks to questions only, i like it

Un-Official Shift necessary accessories thread

Since prboy hasn't posted this I will. I know there's a separate forum for this. I feel this should go in general.

Because I never read that forum and it should be deleted. This is a thread with top of the line everything in every category. If you have something bettery, feel free to post it instead of nonconstructive trolling and criticism.
kthxbai~
Just because you don't read that forum, it should be deleted? Right....
And the other devices you don't own, nor read, they should go too??
Create threads in the correct sections. Its not too much to ask.
Thread Moved.

I feel like that forum and this forum could be combined, reducing threads to read and clutter. I don't read that forum for a reason. It's useless.
Well this thread has been moved so you now have a reason too.
Also, don't use the words "Official" in thread titles, XDA does not endorse this or any other types of thread, accessory, ROM etc...

Q/A thread

So lately, i saw the galaxy fit owners having a Q/A section in their forums.
First of all i want to congratulate them on that behalf.
So i read somewhere that if a device's general section forum reaches 1000 threads or 10000 posts limit, that device forum earn itself a separate q/a section.
The eligibility if true it is, we should also contact mods for the q/a section as the spam count in general section is filling with each passing day.

Anything non-urgent or non important thing shuld go here

Any thing which doesn't belong to themes and apps, dev, nor q/a should only be posted in general section.
Rest in their respective sections.
But first the question of the subject is "is our sgm forum eligible for this facility?" .

Well seems this post was buried deep under.
I already contacted sixstring regarding this..he said Q/A are added upon request.
I'll ask him again.
Whatever it is, i think this addon would greatly be appreciated by all.
considering all the spam count regarding inquiries in general section.
Also our section needs some cleaning in dev thread. Wondering where our mod is.

Hey, you didn't read the O.P. post carefully , did you?

Post in the correct section for god's sake!

I'm wondering, is it really that hard to post in the correct section? Here are some threads that should be in Q&A, but all were on the first page in General when I copied their links:

That is 12 out of 20 threads (the stickied ones were not included) on the first page that weren't posted where they should be.
Also, I noticed that most of these threads were started by people with none to very few posts... Connection?
I sense that this thread might get closed for some reason.
The threads that I linked to should be closed/moved, or the newbies (mostly, some senior members as well..) who haven't yet developed the ability to read will soon post every single question they have in General...
My suggestion is increasing the post requirement before you can post in General.
A. Volunteer to become a moderator and hand down infractions or use the report post button.
B. Do you think you have any sort of authority over others and or think you are perfect?
C. Do you realize that your whiny post HAS NO PLACE HERE? (As does my response)

B: The OP is correct, the Q&A question exists for question, this one for general discussions. Where did he say he's perfect or above others?
C: Why not? He has a fair point. And I don't see him whining. What is your problem?
But I don't agree: Raising the post count for the General section is not a solution.
Maybe a new closed stickyied thread "This section is NOT for Questions you have, use Q&A for that" might help.
Reported my own post and suggested it to the mods.
Cheers.

Because the Q&A section is a no-man's land where no dev ever ventures. Trying to push the new guys that come here to the fringes is not the solution.

Apart from the fact that I and a couple others in fact ARE scanning the q&a section every now and then for questions which are lacking an answer and are not covered in any of the other threads:
That's not a valid reason to post in the wrong section. Especially considering the kind of questions linked in the OP which are pretty often already covered multiple times all over xda.

you're wrong they answer the questions that never been asked before if your question doesn't answer so search it first before creating a new thread if you search for an hour so search for a day and if you can't find it and you search for almost a day that's the right time to post don't post anything because you only want to reach 10 post to be able to post in developers section

The thing is when I go into the Q&A and see a bunch of old threads I am gonna think like that. I didn't talk out of my ass but went to the section and that was what compelled me to answer. The problems of this forum imo are solved with active moderation. Things like warnings, thread deletions and relocations. Until that investment is made we will be suffering this kind of problems.
