Nice to see a user review that's not full of blurry-cam action. I got mine from an O2 store and it ships with the more substantial/expensive Solo headphones.... Just thought I'd mention for anyone interested in music.

The sound quality is superb... It's more to do with the headphones than anything else tho... All the beats software does is create a certain EQ pattern. Top marks to both HTC and whoever makes the beats headphones.
what can you say about htc these days..........they more or less speak for themselves, they even look alike!!!!!!!!! a little better preparation and you would have have a great review but it was refreshing to hear from someone who actually owns the device and not repeating what others were saying. getting mine on the weekend £370 was a steal i think. this is a beast. slightly disappointed with screen res as expected qHD for a screen this size.

was thinking about getting galaxy note or xl. In the end went for xl simply because it was launched first and would be more practical out of the two for making calls. It looks better.
So far loving it, the build, htc features, sound quality(louder then the sensation). Screen looks better then all other htc models.
Gps locks on immediately
New Led light notification is brilliant!
Internet smooth
No bugs or crashes
No lag
So far very pleased.
I agree on everything you said. Especially the led. Who new something so small could be so cool?!

Phonerane review, claims Mideocre 8mp camera and camcorder?!?!? HOW is that Possible?
I'm really shocked here,
Today I read the Phonearena review on this device ( HTC Sensation XL ) and to my surprise, the review was really bad. The reviewer claim the 8mp camera is very weak compared to Htc Sensation XE, even with better lens and sensor?!? How can it be? Moreover, the reviewer showed that the 720p camcorder is even weaker than image quality, and I'm really pissed off by that.
Can anyone who has a Htc Sensation Xl confirm this claims? Now I am in a real dilemma here, because I love this phone, and I can overlook the fact is has inferior resolution and no micro Sd Slot, but if the Camera and Camcorder is weaker than the Sensation Xe counterpart, I'm think I will swap in favor of the second.
Please check the review from PhoneArena and help me sort this out!!! Anyone!

I am currently using the Sensation with my Monster Beats Pro, and I have to admit that I am not at all satisfied with the headset and the sound level.
When I play music the sound level is too low. Compared to the iPhone or the iPod, the sound level is 40 % (my guess) louder than the Sensation XL which dissapoints me big time. It carries the Monster Beats logo branding after all.
I havent opened up the Monster Beats Solo which were included, because I am going to sell them separately, but shouldnt the Monster Beast Pro give better sound volume than this?
I guess that none of you have this combination, and there are so few of us that have this mobile, but I am curious to know your take on it anyway
I've been using the stock monster headphones included and I might be wrong but it doesnt really makes a big difference for me, truth be told I still.prefer the srs and dolby that I had on my inspire 4g

The Beats audio inside the Sensation XL is pretty much a preset equaliser controls. If you download any equaliser app or wait for the ICS build for the XL that has a built in EQ, then you can probably improve general sound from the music player.
I feel exactly the same when using the solos with my XL. Sound nice, but too damn quiet. It's the same problem i had with my Sony A-series walkman as well. great sound, low volume. Seems to be something to do with the french...they've got some mad law about not letting you deafen yourself with loud musinc, even if you want to! Seems sony and HTC take it a bit far and their products all stick to it, whereas everyone else just buggers it up for the french ones.
Anyway, i invested a few pounds in a small headphone amp when i got the Sony. Sure, it was a little annoying to begin with, but now i don't even notice it, and it makes the power much more acceptable.
Mine's a Fiio E5 by the way, but the new E6 has been released since then.

Obviously, Id rather i didn't need it at all, as it's yet another thing to charge regularly.......but it does what i need and for what would probably only get me through a quarter of a normal friday evening on the piss.
Now I went for the XL with the urBeats in-ear headphones. And they are LOUD! Talk about going to number 11. I'm mostly deaf in one ear so do need a lot of volume, and boy do the urBeats deliver.
Its pretty loud with in ear headset. Quality sound
Can someone explain the difference between older HTC displays (Sensation, EVO 3D, etc.) and newer ones ( Sensation XL, Titan).
They all claim to be S-LCD but the newer ones are clearly brighter, more colorful (plainly speaking), the quality is more comparable to AMOLED LCD's.
Did a bit of googling but can't find any explanation.
Anyone else with similar observations?

i saw some reviews on youtube about sensation xl and i see games like gta 4 and MC3 are working smooth almost like sgs2

I had an apple 4 after that an sgs2 and an apple 4s which i sold for the sxl. i wasnt a friend of htc but the sxl, how can i say, is lovely. You cant say it is an upgrade or downgrade. For me the size is perfect, games i dont play, but with a good rom is it very very smooth. i love that think realy.

I have had many phones in my time haha. Maybe not as many as some members in here but, all the iPhones, I have used Samsung (which I hate) and I have to say HTC are my favourite the build is better, the screen isn't maybe as vibrant as some but its still very good. The single core processor handles very well and games work perfectly fine on the phone. I wouldn't say its a downgrade, it depends what you look for in a phone really.
Basically I would get it or wait for the new HTC range.

Wait for the HTC One X, you'll be happy.
Sxl is definitely one of the top tier phone. But these phones are rated mostly depends on personal needs and taste
For me, I would say this is the best single core phone, and somehow better than dual core in term of battery life. Dual core drains like hell
Plus the extra beats headphone, makes it even worth purchasing. I think HTC phone in future will no longer comes with beats headphone .

I don't really know what you are talking about but you can improve sound a lot if you use DSP-Manager from Cyanogen.

Nope.
Beats audio in 2011 htc phones are only software, not sure about 2012. So if you install beats audio into your phone, it should sound the same as other 2011 htc phones.

Well - why buy beats? AFAIK it's mainly a product line sold with Dr dre's name, and they're said to be rather expensive and of rather low quality. That beats app to my knowledge mainly applies some equalizer settings, and buying a decent headphone set and applying a roughly similar equalizer with an app of your choice should give you similar or even better results at a comparable price IMHO

Klipsch are the best. I have the Image One and S4i and their sound is really balanced (beats are too bass heavy imo)
Just that klipsch are hard to get in Australia. I only know a few places that stock them

Sony are great. But the Software in the headset itself is pretty weak. I usually have iBeats but have to send them in for repairs so I'm using my spare Sony ones. You really have to do alot in DSP to unleash their full power, because they really can handle a lot of everything but the software in the headphones won't let them. It's like this:
iBeats - Hardware 60% / Headphones-Software +20% / DSP +20% -> 100% ... Software makes awesome sound of avarage headphones but if you tweal too much it will sound weird.
Sony - Hardware 80% / HP-Software -20% / DSP +40% -> 100% ... Software in the headphones suck but they can handle a lot of changes in DSP so they sound pretty much like Beats.
Other Stuff: Beats definitely look better, Beats have earphone wires with SAME lenght (With my Sony ones the right one is 4times as long as the left so you have to wear it over your neck which looks stupid and feels uncomfortable also.
Price: iBeats: 70€ /including lots of ear gums(don't know the right word), clip for shirt
Sony: 35€ /including clip but no ear gums and the stock ones are very small
So, I think this explains a little Hope it was worth typing
buy jays-a-jays four or one+
Much better and cheaper than beats

Try with Altec Lansing, trust me, the best quality and perfect sound for acceptable price (somewhere near Sony).

It is awesome. Let me explain why. The soundchip used in Boomsound speakers are not only for speakers. HTC intigrated that technology into headphone jack too so you get that high quality sound when you plug in your headphones too.

Haven't check yet as my pre-order will be coming in the next days....although I have DNA and have compare it with Samsung's s3 & note 2.....and iPhone5...my conclusion is that the sound is by far the best on HTC.....iPhone has also good sound....not as good though...in the other hand Samsung sound is crap...I don't have any hate about Samsung or anything but is one level below in that matter.......Droid DNA uses the extra amp for headphones that reported on One...so I believe if its not equal with DNA will be better......trust me I had the first Device with beats by HTC the sensation xe....the extra amp on my DNA and one x+ was a major update to the sound.....finally it's a personal matter to everyone....hope to helped....

Yes I have tried also some other called awesome beats something etc... it give a boost to the sound but even with that boost it can't compare with DNA sound.....very loud clear full bass with high quality sound.......

I'm going to get shouted at for this.
I have a pair of Dre Beats Studios, and iPhone 5 and HTC One, and a recent memory of a HTC One X, now sold.
With the Beats Equalizer on through a pair of Studios, it sounds absolutely fantastic, better than my HP DV6. Things aren't so good when you turn that equalizer off, however that's more due to the fact that that sound enhancement was designed to be used with a pair of Dre Beats
As for the iPhone, I find it's audio to be a bit tinny when played through the Dre Beats. I think the sound level is slightly higher on the iPhone, but to me the HTC One wins everytime. And if it's vs boomsound, I think we know who wins :victory:
HTC one with audio technica m50 (actual good headphones not marketing) the sound is brilliant using spotify on high quality, I will test on my iPhone today before I sell it
