PhoneArena Review Claims Medicore 8MP Cam and Camcorder?!? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!? - HTC Sensation XL

I'm really shocked here,
Today I read the Phonearena review on this device ( HTC Sensation XL ) and to my surprise, the review was really bad. The reviewer claim the 8mp camera is very weak compared to Htc Sensation XE, even with better lens and sensor?!? How can it be? Moreover, the reviewer showed that the 720p camcorder is even weaker than image quality, and I'm really pissed off by that.
Can anyone who has a Htc Sensation Xl confirm this claims? Now I am in a real dilemma here, because I love this phone, and I can overlook the fact is has inferior resolution and no micro Sd Slot, but if the Camera and Camcorder is weaker than the Sensation Xe counterpart, I'm think I will swap in favor of the second.
Please check the review from PhoneArena and help me sort this out!!! Anyone!
Thanks

My Perfect HD7

I am looking to buy this but I am disappointed that the hardware has not progressed since the HD2. My perfect HD7 is as follows:
Lovely Aluminium Case and processor from the Desire HD
Screen from the Samsung Omnia 7 (have you seen the comparisons of the screens here: http://wmpoweruser.com/engadget-previews-the-htc-hd7-htc-mozart-and-samsung-omnia-7/
The camera from the Mozart
I don't like the form of the HD7 as much as the HD2.
I am not happy with HTC on this model - probably still end up buying one but I think they could have pushed the technology a little.
Don't forget the SD card and front camera.
Man, that would be an awesome phone.
Why can't they get it right... I totally agree.
I like the chrome edge, but the back needs to be some monochrome metal unibody as well.
HD Desire HD is absolutely fugly... I have a Desire and i'm sick of the brown! Why waste aluminium by making it brown... the plastic panels in it look horrid too...
The big ugly TFT LCD is horrid too, at least give us a good enough panel that doesnt discolour from the tiniest angle change... i'm gonna compare build quality of the HD7 with Omnia 7 tomorrow and get the sexier one...
As above but with 8mpx camera and DLNA.

I didn't quite understand why they didn't put in an 8 mpx camera in it as most HTC top end phones come with that as standard.
If you read the reviews for the Mozart Camera - the quality of it is very poor! when will people understand its not all about megapixels - its the sensor and the optics that make a great photo. HTC have ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS been poor when it comes to camera performance on a smartphone - The reviews of the windows phone 7 are saying the same with very poor pictures in anything other than glaring bright sunlight. Google Omnia 7 vs HD 7 photos and you'll see.

thats if only there is a omnia 7 out there! i have been chasing the networks up all day and some said they are releasing the omnia 7 on friday 22nd and some possibly next week onwards, my problem is i want to buy it sim free and they are only offering it on 2-year long contracts
htc hd7 youtube videos
hey guys!!! i was trying to watch youtube videos in my new tmobile hd7 but the quality of the videos is very poor! someone can help me to this matter?
I was having the same issue with my HD7. I am not sure if there is a way YET to change the quality of the video. I did notice a few videos allowing me to click the HQ version when browsing through •m.youtube.com•. I could not find any other way to watch high quality youtube video. Hopefully there will be an update SOON which will allow this feature through the YOUTUBE app, which I jealously watched my friend use on his Samsung Vibrant.
There is no need for a bigger camera than 6 MP on a phone. And I said 6 , not 5, because as on N8 it gives you that fancy panorama view which I love for pics. 4:3 is so 2005 .. oh well I'm not into camera quality chase on mobiles but I'd love to see that. And no more than 720p recording, make those 720p crisp with awesome sound quality and it's more than enough !
If I want to take HQ pics I'll buy a camera which I intend to do soon enough.
Yeah
Must say a bit dissapponted with the camera.. actually wanted to buy the desire HD but Tmob didnt have stock so went with 02 for the HD 7
But Boy I love the sexiness of the phone Im sure they will update the phone for sure and since htc wont update it .. the updates will be instant the moment they roll out
I think Microsoft has done a good job by taking the best of both apple and android
I don't see a reason for a 8 MP camera. 5MP is just perfect. Remember, by the end of the day, this is a phone. The network should have the capability to transmit pictures to where ever you want to share them, email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. The More MP, the bigger the picture and longer it takes to share them.
guys u will never be happy... even if HTC put in all the fetures in the phone u will come out with some thing different...
if u think 8mega pix camera is good then why not buy a 12 Mega pix cam it self or 1 15 Mega pix DSLR... i guess ppl will say why not 3d screen, or 3d camera...
to some ppl SLCD is not good then the other option is dell venue pro or omnia7...
just bear in mind all the device have there pros and cons... u will never get a perfect device...

Speaker + camera quality.

Own and love the Galaxy Nexus, I think 16gb is well more than enough storage for on-the-go music and app combination.
The two major issues I have with it however are:
1) The camera quality.
I find the image quality quite grainy after taking photos. The camera just doesn't cut it for me. However I'm hoping that the 8MP camera on the Nexus4 (I know megapixels isn't everything) will solve that issue.
***2) THE SPEAKER LOUDNESS***
I think of the old Christmas poem "Night Before Christmas"...
"'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even the Gnexus at max volume".
That'll be the deciding factor on if I'll be picking up the phone or not, in all honesty.
Love you XDA,

Well its not release yet, but we can take a few clues.
Base on this review: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a24txcFBWyE
the LG Optimus G have very weak speaker, saying that when on its back, one might even miss a phone call. Although that doesn't necessarily mean it will be the same for the Nexus 4.
As for camera, I have no proof that the 8MP camera of this device is similar to one on the Optimus G for ATT, but maybe if it is, we can look at those sample shots posted online. I think the general consensus is its not that great and might have trouble under low lighting. Overall I think it will be at least better than the current 5MP which is enough for me.
Just wait for feedbacks from other buyers before making the purchase.
PS. I still laugh at the fact when the Galaxy Nexus was just released people claimed its 5MP camera is better than the SII camera, even with side by side pictures comparison.
I'm disappointed it won't support GLONASS, base on the specs from the PlayStore.
The camera uses a Sony BSI Sensor, so I'm sure images will be crisp and sharp. Not sure what aperture it uses though, hopefully a f2.4/2.6.

i really love Nexus 4 but One X camera is amazing

Well, just a very very simple thought: they advertise with their new feature, that panorama thing .. that's one selling point.. so the camera quality MUST be good, right?
Oh man, but I just remember Apple's Maps service ... hmmm.
Here's hoping both are better on the Nexus 4 as they are both somewhat of a disappointment on my Galaxy Nexus for me.

From Josh Topolsky's initial impressions, he stated that the camera performance was a big improvement, and that Google has specifically concentrated on low-light performance. I have high hopes that a Sony sensor, let alone a BSI sensor, leads to respectable if not admirable image quality. If the f/2.4 aperture is an indication, we could easily see this sensor beat the GS3 in terms of how much light it lets in, but it all comes down to how aggressive noise correction is, which is entirely software, and affects image sharpness the most.
While the camera is a big deal to me (a BIG deal), what I'm more worried about is the speaker/earpiece output. As everyone knows, the GNex speaker and earpiece aren't great (that's putting it mildly), so I'm really hoping this phone has great speaker/earpiece volume. Do I expect it to rival my SIII? No. But being able to actually use the phone as a PHONE in a crowded place and being able to hear would be nice.
According to Cnet- The battery life and Camera are the two weakest points of the Optimus G (ATT)- its unbelievable how the google nexus phones have sourly disappointing cameras year after year.
It is becoming a HUGE feature for people- and while software can correct come issues- hopefully it does, it has to have a good sensor to start- which the LG should.
I guess we will have to wait for a proper review to get some camera samples. that is def make or break for me. coming from a One X, so camera bar is set rather high
Sony makes the camera for the legendary iPhones so I don't see why they would disappoint now.
Wonder how it would compare to the Lumia 920

ATT Optimus G has 13 mpx camera and LTE.
maybe that's why google decided to go without the 13 mpx camera and without LTE.
the 8 mpx camera which is also used in the sprint version is supposed to be better.
and leaving out LTE saves battery.

Im sorry but how do you know that it has a Sony BSI Sensor ?
I mean that would be great as Sony makes the best sensors right now …
Thats pretty much one of my biggest selling points as i use the cameras a lot..
It was mentioned in the video done by The Verge.

I dont expect the 920 to be great...the 900 was overhyped with the ziess lens and was garbage. the 920 will have GREAT low light photos- that much we know...as for regular performance, I think it will still be slightly below the top notch camera phones (S3, OneX, iphone, etc)
Praying the nexus 4 has a great camera...if so, I will snatch it up.
and what about capture speed ?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
The One Series camera's and the Lumia 920 have a lower aperture f2.0 which is better suited for low light conditions. Now I'm pleased with the HOX camera, this has to be on par at least for day shots as I rarely take that many low light shots.
Be interesting to know what BSI module it uses so we can make comparisons!
I hope the camera is good same as speakers..

Camera

Hey there!
Has anyobe found a qualified report about the camera?
Are pictures good? Maybe comparison to XZ or S3?
Thank you!
can't understant well! but if u mean aboutcamera quality or pics taken whit one camera u can search web or gsm-arena hands-on theres a lot! here's link
AW: Camera
Thanks for the quick reply! In the link you posted the camera is only described, there are no details about pictures taken with it. I want to know if pictures are really that good, or if it's just another marketing-thing...
there doesnt seem to be any official reviews yet with actual pictures taken on the phone, all that is said is that its only 4mp camera but the resolution is meant to be much better and lets a lot more light in than previous htc phones
HTC camera's are usually decent, can't wait for a real review!

(XDA won't let me put down url's )
Here are some photo sample between the Lumia 920 vs Htc One.
If you look in the general thread, i've linked one where it is vs the iphone 5 but it shows you image quality, click on the article link and it'll tell you more.
Hello guys first of all may I just say I don't expect anyone to trust me especially without my own evidence (I would have had some if this crap bb didn't die on me while I was down oxford street).
However though after seeing those images vs the iphone btw I thought the images on the one were better than the iphone but inferior to the lumia 920. I decided to hunt the one down again to do some camera tests.
On tuesday on the launch of the one, i went to phones 4 u oxford street (bond street) played with the one for about 3 mins and decided it was better than the z, had better audio, camera/video which is the main things i use on the phone. however that was without side by side comparison.
after seeing the images online posted by the one, i was thinking to myself when i played with it the images looked better than that, so i headed down the whole of oxford street from tottenham court road to bond street in and out of carphone warehouse, three stores and phones 4 u and vodafone like a mad man. finally I went back to the phones 4 u that did the launch and as I walked in i saw they had the one on display however it is bolted down, with both cameras and headset jack covered, so i was disappointed as i though i wouldnt be able to do camera tests. Absolutely gutted i walked out and futher up the road to the three store (opposite selfriges).
walked in and saw they had a dummy of the black version of the one, i asked the staff to they have the real phone one said the rep came earlier and will be back tomorrow about 9am, i thought damn man then one of the staff said hold on ill check if we have the demo phone in the back. She said by the way it is a pre production unit and not final retail unit, anyway she went in the back and came back an there in her hand was a silver one, totally deprived of any restrictions what so ever, so i got a feel of the phone its far better to hold in the hand than the z due to it being smooth (the egdes of the z are rough), also feels and looks smaller than it is and it looks thinner than 9.3mm aswell.
I know audio is better than the z so i got straight to work in comparing front and rear cameras on both phones side by side. I got the staff in the three store to judge which has the better camera aswell.
these are our findings and truthful findings. z was on superior auto setting and one was on its normal auto focus setting i didn't tamper with anything else.
sharpness, colour accuracy (more natural colours), auto focusing and camera speed all favoured the one not to say the camera on the z is rubbish but The z tended to lose focus on objects (same issues that plagued the xperia s/t last year that annoyed me so much) and also letters looked more blurry on the z (i got one of the booklets and was focusing on the letters, the one was far sharper than the z and even just on general objects the one had the sharper camera.
Video (both phones were in 1080p mode on auto focus setting) again was the same story the z was struggling to focus at times, while the one always maintained focus and showed the sharper image and better colour accuracy also better audio aswell.
Even the front camera had clearer more detailed images and videos than the xperia zs front camera, also i tried zooming on the rear camera of the one again it showed more detail on zoom than any other phone I have seen bar the Nokia N8, 808, Lumia 920.
Personally in my opinion and the guys in the three store the camera on the HTC one is remarkable the staff in the three store didn't even know the one only had a 4mp camera they thought it was 13mp it was so good.
This is one of the reasons I rather go hands on with things myself than look on the internet or at reviews and I am urging people to do the same.
You will be surprised about this ultra pixel 4mp camera thing today really showed me and the three staff that its really not all about the megapixels because the ones 4.3mp camera was overall better than the xperia z's 13.1mp camera.
Hey Guys everyone keeps asking about the HTC ONE Ultrapixel camera, so while I was at the London launch I took a couple photographs!

Not now, hahahahaha. Needs a better model
I went to three store at oxford street and pretending to know nothing about HTC one and a black sales person told me it comes with 16 gb and I disagree but still he keep saying its 16 gb but when I denied he went backdoor and come after 7 min. (dumbo) after some quick research on the net or ask senior employee and confirm its a 32 GB
never ask for any advice or technical stuff to people working in store, they can advice you on only one thing how many model of certain phone they sold and how many and which brands models they got in for repair as faulty full stop

[Q] HTC One Camera

Regarding the latest and fastest phone by HTC, why is it having a low megapixel compare to other phone eg. Sensation XE or One X? Why would anyone buy with a low MP camera?

Must we answer this?
Pretty much every single review of this phone says exactly why this is so.
But I'll tell you. The theory is that the camera sensor, instead of being split into 13 million pixels, is split into only 4 million pixels. This allows more light to enter each pixel because each pixel is bigger. It works best in low light shots where every photon counts. If you are never ever going to need to zoom into pictures, then theoretically, the megapixel count doesn't matter so long as the picture resolution matches or exceeds that of the display. However, you do need those extra pixels when you want to zoom in or crop a photo.
This feature is not as apparent in good lighting situations, so you might want to go with something else if that's the case the majority of the time. I think Nokia was able to create a camera that, supposedly, beats the One's in all aspects. Look up Lumia 925.
It's your choice to make.

[Q] Desire 626 back cam (13MP) FAKE!

I am also facing the same issue. The back 13MP and also front 5MP camera quality is really poor like Chinese phone. :crying:
Not sure if you have bad luck. I made some pictures and video test but unfortunately I cannot share them here since I do not have 10 post plus.
Anyway, they look really good to me. I will show them here when i hit 10th post+.

Yes but I think problem is with the app. Try A Better Camera in play store. It improved photo/video quality and had 13mp option.
