I've compiled smartass V2 module for Arc's 2.3.4 stock kernel.
To fully configure / install the module, please check the equivalent page for X10 - since I built the same module for X10 and wrote a full description page.
The only thing that is different is that the frequencies have changed for Arc (1024000 / 122880).
Download:
Use it at your own risk!
cpufreq_smartass2_arc_2.3.4.zip
Enjoy!

Cool, thanks for you great work

I dont know what it is. Can you tell me how to get it?

Hi, is it possible to make one for Acro?
Here is the kallsyms log:
http://hotfile.com/dl/135678251/f72b646/kallsyms-azusa.log.html
Thanks in advance.

Sorry for de delayed answer ..
To obtain the kallsyms, the command is:
Code:
cat /proc/kallsyms > /sdcard/kallsyms.log
What kernel version is Acro running ?

Android 2.3.4
Kernel 2.6.32.9
Build 4.0.1.C.1.9
Thanks!

Is there something special need to be done apart from following the guide to install to make it sticky? i.e. The Governor no longer appears in the No-frills after I reboot
I followed the guide for "smartass" to install.

You need a way to insmod the module everytime the phone reboots ... I use for this an app named "Module Loader" which I found here on forum, please search for it.
Otherwise you might need to update the init files of your ROM / phone, but that is out of scope of this thread ..

This is the kallsyms for the Arc S (LT18).
I hope this is helpful!

I have received several kallsyms files but I am a bit behind 'schedule' so it will take a bit (up to a week) until I can get to them.
I will keep the thread updated,
Thank you!

i really want your smartass v2 in my stock arc s!!
please upload the mod.

The question is -> How do you use a LT15i specific mod in your LT18i?
And how about the frequencies for processor? (1024000 / 122880)

Is it possible for you to create OC Modules for the Arc? I saw a thread in the X8 were they can Overclock stock kernel using one overclock module compiled by an user.
Is there any chance, since you already compiled this smartass module, to compile an overclock module for us?
Thanks for the reply in advance.
J!M

i am still hoping you do one for undervolt for stock 4.0.283 kernel...?

Could you make this compatible with .62 firmware? Looks like it bootloops (I tried with doomlord's ASK).

Can you please make an overclocked kernal for ARC users.
1.4Ghz would do.

Thanks for you're work.
Does the arc s booting up at 1.4 Ghz with this kernel ?

Sorry forgot to set frequency according to model and it's by default set as 1 G. I'll change and post a new version later.
here is a temporary solution for Arc S users:
Create a file and name it like 01setmaxspeed and put the following line:
Code:
#! /system/bin/sh
echo 1401600 >/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
and put this file in /system/etc/init.d folder
set the permission to 777 (tick all boxes)
reboot

Thanks for the kernel Cob!
I have a weird issue: my Arc S is stuck at 1200 MHz max...
Even with the init.d script and ROM Toolbox, it only spends a few seconds at 1401 while booting and then falls to 1200 maximum.

I agree with this. Is it possible to make the kernel identify the phone as an arc S and therefore sets the max clock speed at 1.4 GHz?
After all, no one really knows if the processor of the arc, and arc of s, are different or is it just the same version but with clock changed ... at this point if you could create a special kernel for arc that boot to 1.3 ghz ,i think this is possible
Tested: WOW!
For some strange reason WiFi doesen't start...
To be sure that WiFi goes correctly, the ICS must be clean install

v2 already set max frequency according to model - 1g for Arc and 1.4g for Arc S. It simply checks the build.prop - LT15 for arc and LT18 for arc S
So if you change the model in build.prop to LT18, it will try to set max frequency to 1.4g - but the hardware may still limit it to 1g and you'll need doomlord's magic to overclock it
Works for miui ics (org+localization) properly.

I am posting here a Custom kernel build on source for I9082 Galaxy grand duos.
Disclaimer :- i am not responsible for any broken or bricked devices.
Features
a. Compiled with google toolchain 4.7
b. Compiled with latest kernel building optimizations O3, Ofast.
c. Specific kernel flags Optimised specially for our beloved i9082
d. Fast usb charging support. Now you can get fast charging by connecting usb like AC adapter.
e. Customized CPU governers like hotplug, pegasusq (original Samsung governer for multicore support), interactivex, gallimaufry, ondemandx, sakuractive, lulzactive, smartassV2, adaptiveX,lagfree, etc in all around 15 governers to choose from for different needs.
f. I/O schedulers added SIO,fifo,row,V(R).
g. Disabled MMC_CAP_ERASE -> no more hardbrick bug
so now fun part. How to install???
1.download the file below
http://d-h.st/qk4
2.copy to root of ur partition like c:/ or d:/ etc (it's easier to remember and locate)
3. connect your phone to pc & open odin3 3.04 (search xda or google)
make sure u have drivers properly installed and odin shows blue connection sign with [com].!!!
4. click on pda & select kernel_k2wl_v1.tar
5. click start. & wait until says pass and phone reboots.
now you have custom kernel.
how to use features
if u have my latest rom then it has no frill cpu app included or download no frill cpu from play store its free. you can also use setCPU which is paid ...change governors and i/o according to ur will . but do it all on ur own risk.
i recommend hotplug as governor and sio as i/o with max frequency of 1.2ghz and min of 600mhz.
more features coming in next update.
issues please report here.

Excellent work mate, if we keep progressing like this we might get our own sub-forum! Some suggestions -
1) You could integrate CWM recovery with the kernel, if you haven't done it already. Then provide a .tar one package file for flashing via ODIN
2) Maybe add a warning about triggering an increase in binary counter in OP
3) Does it support Vodoo sfx?
Waiting for OC! (I hope you have a JTAG jig ready, especially with the amount of development you are doing)
P.S. - We can also check out support for Heimdall and Mobile Odin

Could make kernel for TX?
Many thanks
Nurij, can I bother you with some requests?
I am not going to overclock gpu, because it's the main source of heating, but there are some things I would like to try.
First thing is, that 325MHz breaks sysmon gpu perflevel switching, because default step is 300MHz. I could change it in sysmon.cfg but I want to leave it compatible with stock kernel.
But as I've tested these frequencies much, I know that two extra steps would be really usefull. Except of 128/200/300/400 steps, adding 250 and 350 would be nice.
Especially 250 MHz, because 300 is enough, but 200 is slow.
What do you think?

I see... So this is the table you have in mind?
128
200
250
300
325
350 (or 365 would be better?)
400
(and overclocked ones)
I think 325 is not needed, but the frequency table can look exactly like that (with 350).
Thank you.

Im testing the values atm..
Great. You don't have to hurry. Tomorrow will be fine.

I think your kernel is one of the best ever. We, Xperia TX (LT29i) community, suffers of a lack of developpement. We'll be glad if you could make a similar kernel for the last 9.1.B.1.67 FW for Xperia TX. If it is useful, here is original 9.1.B.1.67 kernel: http://d-h.st/SCS Thanks in advance for your kindness.
Thanks for your work! I'm trying the kernel this night. The hyper governor seems to be nice...
really nice kernel, no wifi drops as with doomkernel and it also feels smoother, even with many apps.
using the dancedance governor, thanks for your work
Gesendet von meinem LT30p mit Tapatalk 2
After a day using this kernel, i can say by the momment works perfectly, very smooth and i have noticed absolutely no lag.
I was using the doomkernel that was very nice as well, but this is simply awesome.
Good job!:good:
