Bye bye! - LG Optimus Black

Well guys it`s been a pleasure to spend a lot of time in my life beside all of you, hoping that LG will support their phones better, but that time has and end and this is it. I`ve sold my OB and bought a Desire HD instead. I was tired hoping that something will eventually happen`...
Good luck in the future and very much custom stable ROMs!
Wish you all the best!

Desire HD has a locked bootloader, has it?

allready unlocked

I'm due to a new phone and I need to choose between Desire hd or Optimus black.
Was thinking of the hd but I've read about the small battery, poor GPS performance, camera issues, etc. The weight is 175gr.
On the other side the OB just got Gingerbread, is smaller, has IPS screen. CM7 support for it is also great.
What made you choose the HD over OB?
Thanks!

nope....i`m using SmartDroid T-3.1 2.3.5 with sense 3.5....it`s just amaizing.

well, for me...this kind of phone shouldn`t last for more than a day. Desire HD delivers me a fully working day with 3g data always on with sync over weather and Gmail, and wi-fi when possible and sometimes using hands free bluetooth.
the gps it`s fast I don`t know where did you hear that is poor.
what made me choose HTC instead LG is:
1. HTC sense....is much much much more user friendly than LG UI 2.0 (wich Optimus Black comes with)
2. I don`t really trust Ti OMAP processors, Qualcomm instead gets over clocked at 1.6 ghz with no harm at all.
3. I have a Smart TV and the DLNA works much better instead LG.
4. Bigger screen, metal hard case (i really like the phone to be heavier) instead of crap plastic, truly Gorilla Glass Display, 8mgx camera with dual led flashlight wich is not bad at all I`ve managed some awsome photos with it, 768 mb RAM instead of 512 wich makes the device much more fluid (never crumbles).
5. LG stand for Lie Good, I`ve tried the Wi-Fi direct function with other phones and never managed to really send a file......crap.
6. Very poor video recording on LG 5 mgpx camera...
I hope I made some good arguments.
If I were you...I`d buy Desire HD for sure! But the choise is yours. I can only hope will make the right one take care dude

How about the display?
Which do you think has the much better display? Let's just disregard the brightness because we all know the Optimus Black has the brightest. Is there a big difference of the display basing that Desire HD has 217ppi and the Optimus Black has 233ppi? Which one has the clearest display? I like clear and vivid display cause I alsways want to watch videos and streaming videos online.

I like the display on the Desire HD better. Much more vivid colors from my point of view. you really can`t see the difference from 233 to 217 dpi.

Thanks, everyone!
After all, when the Milestone came out, the battery could barely last 10h, with CM7 I can squeeze 2-3 days a year after I got it.
I'm getting the Desire HD tomorrow

Hi folks,
I'm planning to pick this phone for a family member and I was wondering if this phone is still worth getting? I've been reading that there are perhaps some problems with the phone such as reboots, overheating, freezing, etc. Would you say that these are hardware problems or is it a software-level issue?
Also, can you put Launcher Pro on this thing and over-ride LG's UI?
If you think that I should hold off until LG gets their manufacturing lines in order and quality control in place, what other dual-core phone would you recommend that has HDMI?
-Cheers.

Personally i only got one freeze in a week of use, but tbh i wouldn't recommend this smartphone to anyone.
LG has still too much to learn to be competitive with his android smartphones.
Actually this device has a great potential but it's used only in half of it's power imho

Actually there is SGS II, seems better to me, but of course it costs more
why would you NOT reccomend this phone to any1 kite ?
i mean sure, it can be some hassle if your unit has reboots and such, but as far as im concerned, this is the best price to quality(hardware) ratio right now. yea might have to return it if its defective or such, but i dont think its hardware.
personally i WOULD reccomend this phone, but probably not to the casual user, more like to some1 who knows what a ROM is and what does it mean to flash. if some1 likes a simple working phone just get an htc maybe.. heck, even an iphone
i can recommend it for sure, just flash a stable MCR Rom and you´re happy
i didn´t have any reboot or SOD with Modaco FR18b2 yet ...
HDMI out is a great feature
overall speed of this phone is very fine, no need to overclock for daily use, just for benchmarks ... ;-)
i think this phone has a great potential for moderate price
you can run any launcher you want, i also use launcher pro ...

that gives it just a little more stability/speed, the LG Launcher is really slow.
Thanks for the input guys. I'm likely to get this phone as a gift if and only if I see the GB-update out first.

Should i buy this phone: g2 vs nexus s

Hello fellow xda members, im visiting from the p500 section, and I'm in the market for a new phone. So i have the choice Between this and the nexus s. Can you all. Demystify the issues I've heard? The hdmi out is really selling me, but people tell me about various issues. So can yall help me?
Thanks!

well to be honest this device has had a fair share of problems i luckily didnt face any of them from my experience it beats nexus s in all ways, processor camera hdmi speed display built quality, all aspects are better. There are a few thing though u should look before getting this device if u get a used one from the market
1- Put on a black wallpaper or image and see the corners for lcd bleeding
2- Load couple of system apps like camera and stuff see if it looses responsiveness or restarts, finally look closely at lcd if there are dead pixels if it passes those test ill buy the g2x no doubt about it

usually when you get a bad one, there is problem like BSOD(Suddenly your hp shutdown it self), SOD(Sleep Of Death = when it goes to standby, you cannot turn it on again)
or maybe example like another users the device so hot

Just have to say... If you didn't get it, I bet you wish you did Nexus S is first phone after gn to get ics! This phone is the ISH! It is now clear why google chose this phone over the g2- the gpu still beast enough to handle ICS, while none of the other phones (except gs) of the time(not event g2) can compete. I will never buy anything but Nexus.
Nexus FTW!

LG Optimus 4X IPS FULL HD Resolution

2x was first tegra2 device and now 4x will be first tegra3 quadcore device

Nice phone, but too big.
Spica, you've got a message in your inbox from me.
Hmmm this really sounds interesting...
I looked and thought hmmm very nice, but I don't even think they have bothered putting ics on it, they said a lightly customized version, LG are still looking ****ty on there software even for their newest phones, will wait and see what samsumg has to offer quadcore wise before I make any decisions,

Buyer needs advice

Hi guys, I think there is quite an unbelievable offer for Austria Hutchinson users. Basically you get this phone for 69€ on a 20€ x 24 months contract. With the contract you get also 1000 minutes 1000 SMS and Internet unlimited so should be fine. Before I saw that I thought of sticking to my galaxy s for a while.
Now that said I would love to take it as long as the offer lasts, but I am concerned about 3 things:
a) i am a custom Rom user since 2 years. Never been on stock again. And I looooooove cyanogenmod! Do you think there will be custom roms for this?
b) the camera quality. While I'm not too much concerned about the video quality, I use my phone as a compact camera outside to take pictures. So how bad is it in your opinion? And do you think will it improve with upcoming updates?
c) you know something about the possibility of unlocking this phone?
I guess probably I'm asking too much but maybe someone knows better.
Thanks in advance!

It's only an okay camera, there's better, the Galaxy 3 has a better one for instance, not by that much, but clearly. No idea if this is a hardware limitation, but I'd guess so.

We have root and CWM now, devs are working on CM10 and 4.0.4 Sense 4.1, so soon we'll have great ROMs
And i think we'll have unlocked bootloader soon too.
Hey guys,
This phone looks really cool. I was thinking of buying this phone. I want a phone that can get rooted and a lot of ROMs. Do u think Im in the right place?
I have read a lot of reviews and from what I can gather is that this phone is a tad better than the One X and a loses the battle just barely vs the GS3.
What do you guys think? What are the pros and cons of this phone?
Also which is better looking? The white or black model?

You shall like the white one. Also, your favorite food is grilled chicken, and you'll only drink root beer. Also, move to Mumbai, which is your favorite city from now on. Any other totally personal decisions you can't make I'm happy to answer, too.
Hey thanks dude!
I was asking because I've never owned anything but Motorola Androids and they have locked bootloaders. Ive never seen this phone in person and the reviews online only show the white one, so I asked here for this awesome community's opinion...
Also I like grilled chicken but prefer steak. Hate root beer, and if I lived anywhere it would be 'MERICA. Ill be sure to visit Mumbai sometime though maybe we can have a beer together.

Is LG policy still suck and unreliable? Since the older models like O2X said to not get ICS!
Yesterday I saw it in the market ,and it has the same price as HOX , I saw some comparison which end by no winner, yet the HOX really has a good support by both the company & xda community ,so from a fear comparison aspect ,which yr choice in case of : screen, camera quality and shutter speed ,video quality(some said its better in the OneX even with has low fps compared to O4X! ), and battery, thx ahead

This is not an answering machine...
Personally, I chose the LG because it has exchangable battery and micro SD slot. They both have Tegra 3 and good displays, so it's no big difference hardware-wise. HTC has a large fanbase, so you'll have more custom roms on the HOX, plus the possibility to unlock your bootloader with HTCdev. LG might learn and do something similar, but as they're not open in saying what they do, no one can tell.
I was checking on eBay yesterday cuz I want a LG O4X and saw there was a developer version kinda like the Razr has one too... can anyone confirm this?

Hello all. What about temerature of subject's surface when it's CPU 100% loaded?

The deal of the year !!!

Hello guys,
I really do not want to spam the forum , but I see myself obliged to talk about the biggest deal of this year ... It is between Samsung and Asus !!!
As many of you, I want to buy a tablet , a good one ... and to be honest, the best ones available on the market now are the TF701T and the new Note 10.1... If you do not agree , that's ok , you should respect my choice !!
Anyway, if you look around in the forums of these two tablets here on XDA, you will find nothing but problems (lags, bloatware, bad build quality ....) and that's very very annoying for a tablet with such a price !!!!
Yeah they have both good stuff inside their stomach, but it's not enough !!!
It's like if Asus and Samsung are cooprating now.... releasing high end products with problems since the begining.
Please be objective !!!
Uh..
You got so excited, you forgot to ask the question..

Great , thnks for the small review . Do you have a dock ? if yes, everything is good?? and from where did you get it ? thanks in advance
People who are satisfied will not complain.. So on this forum you will always find more people complaining than happy people. Nevertheless are the negative things just something that let you make a good decision for your new device.
I'm a linux user and my mission is too get linux working on this devices. Still I'm impressed by the usability of a keyboard and touchpad on android. I see the device more as a laptop than tablet (or maybe better.. it is both).. but for a laptop, is has an incredible battery time!
And the screen and its resolution is just awesome!
mine has a loose bezel and thats about it. no dock yet

Was that the best you can come up with? Like really?
If you were in the TF700 threads last year you would have seen we ALL had problems and I most certainly voiced them. For me, Asus finally got it right with the tablet. Although, there's some issues with the dock. I don't own a dock, so no problems for me.
Lastly, I agree with the poster above. A site like this is seeked out by several types of people, such as the tech savy and tweakers. But mostly, it's folks that have a complaint, or need info. Does it bother you that someone is having success with their device?

The emoticon shows i'm just kidding .... and no it doesnt bother me at all , i would be very happy if there are units without problems. I even havent buy one yet. Im more interested in the asus' but you know ... reading all these negative reviews ... come on , put yourself in my shoe!!
Indeed, I'm a happy user too. Nothing wrong with my device. Got an azerty keyboard dock with no isues at all.
I was waiting for the tf701 but when i was traveling in the US i could only find the Samsung and since neigther will be available in my country anytime soon i bought the Samsung.
My previous tablet was the tf300 and i wax happy with it until it was stolen.
One thing that i can say for sure is that Samsung did huge improvements and the difference that was so clear for me in the past between the tf300 and the first generation of the note is almost gone.
So far I'm happy with the Samsung and despite what others said my device is flying, I'm playing dead trigger 2 from the sd external card with 0 lag at all. Of course that turning off some pre installed apps and function helps a lot.
I'm sure the either choice will be a good choice.

You'll find negative comments on all device threads. That's why they are here. You'll rarely see happy consumers on these forums. You get more of a sense of how happy people are with their device on Amazon. As flawed as the TF700T was last year, the majority of consumers still loved their device. Go figure.. Lol.
