What OS are we talking about here?

WebOS. For Android this problem don't exist.

Kalemsoft Mediaplayer should be able to play .avi
Ipk can be found on their page:

touchPlayer is free, you can get it with preware. It plays just about everything for me.

Thanks for the great suggestion. Just wanted to make it clear that this is installed via Preware, it is NOT available from the HP app store.

how to get protected movie files to work on android?

How do I get movies that I have downloaded from iTunes onto my phone. I searched google but there is no "easy" method for this, so I thought I would go to all my buddies here on xda.
Is there a simple app that can do this task? Thanks
I have yet to try to view a movie on my phone from any source, but I always used Any Video Converter for my PSP back in the day. But I don't know if that will work.
***EDIT*** Okay I'm trying "Any Video Converter" now lol
I thought you were saying any "video converter"
no worky.
Have to pay for the pro.

[APP]MoboPlayer - best video player

No longer best player highly recommend Dice player for best playback with actual hardware decoding
LINK REMOVED mobo is now available on the market

Act1 video player is my favorite.

Decent player although its surely another galaxy s video player ripped and feature packed. That said Rockplayer being the other galaxy s rip will likely copy all features found here.
sent from my Nexus S XDA Premium App because I'm worth it
Thanks.
Unfortunately, it doesn't see the video taken by my Nexus S....
Updated OP to new version 1.0.132

It does you have to select the camera folder on SD card and will search for media files in that directory
Thanks. Best player!
Works the same as Rock Player for me. RockPlayer decodes 720p (mkv) fine but theres no audio. Regular .avis have sound
Definitely nice video player though, I'll keep it
As usual, can't play anime mkv videos without doing slow-mo. I think vlc is the only third party app that can compete with the galaxy player.

Can someone help me, I have installed moboplayer on my Nexus S and I am have a few questions.
1. When I connect my Nexus S to my computer what folder/directory should I be putting my video files in?
2. When I start moboplayer on my Nexus S, I am also confused about which folders I should choose. Also, when I start moboplayer I get "there's no SD card, make sure it is usable".
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Highly recommend using dice player for best HD playback becasue it uses hardware acceleration unlike mobo, rockplayer..ect
But to your question
you manually select what folder you want it to scan i made a folder called Movies..also dont use the one in OP its now available on the market

You were really vague in answering my question though. I am not new to computers but I am new to this. Do I have to modify (root) my Nexus for this to work?
For instance I connect my Nexus S to my laptop and can get the "removable disk (H" option in my computer. Can I make any folder within there and call it "movies"?
OR is there a specific sub folder I need to be in?
Thanks for your help.

The folders as seen in moboplayer don't mirror what I am seeing on my computer. That's is why I am confused.
Thanks for the help.

lol
hey
i downloaded rock player but when i play the movie using rock player the volume of the movie being played is pretty less... is there any player which is better than the rock player and which has high volume?
MX Video Player is by far the best video player on Android IMO.
It was the only player that could play 720p MKV with subtitles without any kind of lag, problems with subtitles or sound. You can also change between audio-tracks.
It also got a the prettiest interface.

Which Divx Player you would recommend?

Hi Guys!
Could you recommend a good divx player for android. thx

really cool player!
vPlayer Advanced is the only player that could play HD mkv files flowlessly -but unfortunately with no subtitle- .
moboplayer played them with software decoding but with low fps so the audio was faster than the picture.
RockPlayer and vPlayer were very bad for HD videos (software decoding mode)
V player has a trial period which expires then you have to cough up . . V Player Advanced is free, don't quite know whats going on there?
VPlayer Advanced is another application that has developed by different developer, maybe that's why it was removed from the market!
I recommend rock player.

i have RockPlayer from the Market, its great
Yes, MOBO PLAYER is best !

Vplayer is the only working video player on Day Three 4.3 for Nexus 7 Gen I and II

Hi:
Just an FYI, whether you get 4.3 on the original Nexus 7 or on the new one, most video players won't work--Dice Player, VLC, MX etc. don't work. Fortunately, Vplayer, free, does. The only one for the time being.

I have BS working for now, not a patch on MX Player in my opinion. Waiting for the update.
This is probably MX Player's biggest problem. The developer for it is extremely slow to respond. Considering the money has had made off the app, you'd think he'd be a bit quicker about it.

Well if you want to support the best there is always vlc, and the latest nightly will play 720p mkv just fine.

+1 - this nightly of VLC is the only app I can find following updating to Jellybean 4.3 that will play 720p MKVs with AC3 audio as smooth as MX Player does on 4.2.2.
getting error code when trying to install it
Which VLC nightly should be used on N7 v4.3? They list V6Arm with FPU, V6ARM no FPU, and V7ARM.
I used the v7 (VLC-debug-20130726-1426.apk specifically) which works fine.

Thank you. That is the one for the V7-ARM. I'll give it a try. [Edit: duh, you said it was for V7, I'll have to check my reading comprehension]

Well I just googled that error, as you should as well, there is tons of documentation on it. Sign out of play, clear some caches and you should be back in business.

IIRC the latest BS player .162(?) had a problem playing videos for me- it would load up but just flash back to the video selection page. however when i went back a version .161(?), all was fine
odd.
