[Q] Go back from Rogers GB to ATT Froyo - LG Thrill 4G

I updated from ATT firmware to Rogers V20C.
I don't like the update since it doesn't support Spanish, that I need to use for my wife.
Also, I wasn't able to make the FM radio work.
I want to go back to ATT original firmware
I tried 'Recovery Phone' in the LGMobile Support tool, but it tells me that this model can't be updated.
How can I go back to the original firmware?

[Q] Problem Rooting LG Optimus 2x

Hi all,
So I've tried lots of forums on here about how to root my LG Optimus 2x but keep running into the same problem. Here are the steps I've been following:
Remove the battery.
Plug in your USB cable to your PC.
Hold Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time keeping them held down.
Plug in the USB cable to your phone. (Keep the buttons held until Windows detects a new APX device.)
Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error icon.
Right click on the APX device.
Select 'Update driver software'.
Select 'Browse my computer...'.
Select 'Let me pick...'.
Select 'Have disk'.
Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to: One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-09-23\APX.
Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC).
Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'.
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat.
I'm on a Windows 7 32 bit PC. When I check for an APX device in the Device manager I don't see one?
I do see an unknown device but when I try to click have disk etc for this, it does not recognise the drivers I'm pointing at and does not install. Can anyone help me with this?
Many thanks,
Derek
What version are you on? Froyo or Gingerbread? It seems you are flashing CWM but that's a longer way to root. You could always try Super one click, which works on froyo.
Yes, I am on 2.2. So Superoneclick is safe to use?
Absolutely. I used it when I was on froyo. Do you have any sensitive data however on your phone? Just in case you mess up, it's always good to have a backup of it. Probably hook up your USB cable to your pc/laptop and copy/paste the files to be safe.
Ok, thanks. So I have rooted the phone using SuperOneClick. Can you send me a link where I can find information about how to put on Gingerbread 2.3 now? Or maybe there is a better ROM I can use that that? Any advice would be appreicated.
Thanks,
Derek
You can try Cyanogen Mod, but that is experimental, even the RC one (Release Candidate).
You can try other leaked versions of ROMs, or you can download the latest v10L Gingerbread release. Before installing any ROM, I recommend doing a CWM or Nandroid backup.
The link to download gingerbread (it's only out in a few countries in Europe) is located in the development sub section of the LG 2x forums. However, try using the update tool and see if it tells you that you have an update.
I seem to have a bit of a problem. I took your advice and found a forum that helped me to do a Nandroid Backup. As part of the steps it asked me to install ROM manager from the Market. I started this and chose my phone model. I started the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery’ in the ROM manager but it stopped and said a permissions error occured. Then I tried to open other programs but they wouldn't open. I tried to reboot the phone but now it just flashes on the LG logo and won't boot up. Please help me with this.
Hello people on this great forum i am new here so i salud you all.
i installed Cyanogenmod 2.3.4 android on lg optimus 2x butt here is the thing how do you update to a newer version or do you have to unstall everything and start from scratch.any tips are welcome and is there a new version of cyanogenmod

Go to "port settings" and select all 16 ports.
View attachment 1784756
Start the upgrade clicking in the yellow arrow on the top/left of the program window.
Three (3) ports will look like comunicating (in the next image you'll see only two cause I'm not really flashing), but
only one is the right one. Two of them will stay stucked in x% and a third port will go higher. Memorize the one that goes higher cause is that one.
In my case, this time was the nr. 3.
View attachment 1784757
Close the program and re-start it. This time, go to "port settings" and select only the port that you memorized,
start the upgrade and you just need to wait for the phone to reboot.
In case of that port fails, choose one of the other two untill you hit the good one.
If you don't see 3 ports, its something wrong and probably this won't work...
Easy
To set manually the port to "1", connect the phone in S/W Mode, open windows "Device Manager",
select “LGE CDMA USB Serial Port”, right click in "properties", connection settings advanced and set it to “com41″

This post was edited cause I realise that is not always the first port the right one, sorry...

God luck :fingers-crossed:
silly me... had to run lgflashtool as admin
did not work either, only got 1 port active, and it failed to download the file to my phone

[Q] need help if someone can...

ok i tryied to use all in one tool and i want to flash to ics to my thrill but as far as i got is on the tool it goes to stage 2 but waiting for device stays there even after i do place to battery in it.. it acts all over again as if it cant find the driver for cosmo i think that is what it is called....but im running windows 7
When it says waiting on device try pulling out the usb and then plug it right back in. I use to have to do that, but if that doesn't work then it may be a driver issue.
Maybe start the tool and when it says waiting for omap4430 device, hold down vol+ and plug in your phone but don't let go of vol+. Pop in battery like normal and it should boot you into download mode. See if that helps get your LG Cosmo driver to install, though it should install as LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT. if that doesn't happen, as a last resort uninstall all LG mobile drivers, reboot cpu, download the files from step 1 and step 5 of this post---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39269819 (bag of goodies and wkparks 1.21) Turn off your anti virus and windows defender before doing anything. Once thats done unzip the two files mentioned above. Run the omap flash installer and re install both Sets of LG mobile drivers in the bag of goodies package (second set will pop up a warning for unsigned drivers a few times; hit YES do it anyways, and then re install omap by directing the driver update to the windows drivers folder in the wkparks bootloader1.21 tool. Hopefully this helps.
Here is a much better explaination from drastic00's tutorial. Follow these steps to the T and you should be flashing in no time
" A) Uninstall any LG Drivers:
a1) Open Programs and Features through Control Panel
a2)Find any drivers called "LG United Mobile Driver." Right click and select Uninstall, let it work.
a3)Reboot your pc!
B) Be sure you disabled antivirus/Windows Defender, etc. before unpacking these files.
C) Install OMAP4430 by running "OMAPFlashInstaller."
NOTE: if you have Fastboot installed SKIP this step (if you don't know, you don't have it...), but DO link the driver as in f4.
D) Install the two LG Drivers in the “LG United Mobile Drivers” folder: These are “LGUnitedMobileDriver_S497CA20_WHQL_ML_Ver_1. 0” and “LGUnitedMobileDriver_S497MA20_WHQL_ML_Ver_1. 0” The second one will warn it is unsigned, choose to install anyway (you will have to insist on this a few times here).
E)Reboot your pc!
F)Install PC/phone drivers:
f1)Shut down your phone. Remove external sd card, SIM card and battery.
f2) Open Device Manager from Control Panel
f3) Hold volume up on phone and connect to USB port. Keep holding volume up.
f4)Look for "OMAP4430" blinking on and off in Device Manager with a yellow question mark under "Other Devices." (You can let go of the phone). If you do not see it, look for "TI Boards" blinking in device manager and quickly open the arrow. Then uninstall that OMAP4430 (right click, check box to uninstall device and driver, confirm), disconnect phone and reconnect with volume up. Then...
f.4.1) You will need to 'catch' OMAP4430 (with yellow question mark) by right-clicking on it when it appears under "Other Devices." Choose "Update Driver Software."
f.4.2) Pick "Browse my computer for driver software." Then "Let me pick..."
f.4.3) Leave "All..." selected under Devices. Then "Have Disk."
f.4.4) Navigate to the omap4boot-for_optimus-v1.21 folder and choose "omap_winusb" in the usb_drv_windows folder.
f.4.5) Windows will warn the driver is unsigned. Install anyway. An OMAP4430 device should appear under the list of devices. Confirm the selection. Let the driver install.
f.4.6) Disconnect the phone and again reconnect with volume up held.
f5) You should see a popup at the bottom of your screen about drivers (the LG USB drivers) installing. (If you do not see it, disconnect phone, reboot your pc, and again connect it without battery while holding volume up). When you do see drivers installing, let go of the volume button. Click the popup to see the progress. Let it finish.
f6) Look for “LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT” in Device Manager. Right click on it and go to Properties
f7) Select the "Port Settings" tab and click 'Advanced'.
f8) Change 'COM Port Number:' to COM41. Click OK, then OK again.
f9) Disconnect your phone from the PC." (From drastic00's noob tutorial)

[Q] HELP!

Hi everyone,
So while I was updating my lg2x to 4.0.4 it got interrupted! I found my phone shut off so I tried to turn it on and it worked even though the LG support tool said the update was not completed but when I opened it, it was working fine with 4.0.4 system BUT after a day it turned off!! I couldn't turn it on anymore, it won't work!! I send it to LG company in my country and they told me they don't know how to deal with it! (lg 2x didn't get released in my country!) I really don't know what to do!? can somebody help me??! :crying: :crying:
It seems you have a hardver problem, but may be not.
Download V30A ics rom.
Download AIO TOOLKIT and install it.
Remove battery from your phone
Connect USB cable to the phone while you are pressing and holding voulme_up and volume_down button.
Stat AIO-TOOLKIT
Select option "I" (capital i) to install APX (NVFLASH recovery) and follow the instrucitons.
Then select option 4 on the next screen option 1 and on the next screen select 1 again, then select 2, hit enter then type "ok" and hit enter
Wait until the process is finished.
Remove phone.
Insert battery then turn it on.
It will boot up into a wierd menu, don't be afraid of that
If it booted up turn off your phone by removing battery
In AIO-TOOLKIT select option 5 hten option 1 then drag and drop the v30A.kdz file to the AIO-Toolkit window and hit enter.
After the extraction press "N"
The extracted files are in the V30A_00 folder where AIO-Toolkit was installed.
Select option 7 in AIO-toolkit then option "a"
"SmartFlash Tool" window appears
Select ROM copy D/L
In the CP bin section select the "P990_CP.fls" file (you extracted it before, it is in the V30C_00 folder)
In the Ap bin section select the "P990_AP.bin" file (it is next to the "P990_CP.fls" file in the V30C_00 folder)
Insert battery again to you phone.
Connect USB cable while you are pressing and holding volume_down button. Hold it until a screen appears telling you that "S/W download".
You can release the button.
Press start in SmartFlash window.
If it the smartflashing process fails due Timeout error, keep trying. Remove batter then do it again from number 21. If it still fails try to flash only P990_CP.fls until it succesfully finished then try to flash P990_AP.bin until it finishes

[Q]LG optimus 4x p-880 IS11LG_systembackup test.signed.apk

I really appreciate any help,
I tried to root my phone, followed the steps here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...45863425638526
I got to step 7., where I wanted to open the app , but all I got was: Unfortunately SystemBackupTest has stopped. How can I fix it ? Knowing that none of lg optimus 4x users faced this problem on most of the internet forums.
