[Q] Touchscreen randomly stops working when rooted. - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a problem whit my Samsung Galaxy Note. When ever I have rooted my phone, the touch screen randomly stops working. It seems to happen whenever I come near the proximity sensor during the time when I make a call. I know that it is used to dim/lock the screen during the call but it seems that the touchscreen system chrashes at that point and stays in that locked mode. After a reboot everything is fine untill it randomly happens again.
When such thing happens, the stylus is working but the finger touch is not reckognized anymore. The strange thing is that when I unroot my phone everything seems to work fine.
And that is a bummer because I cannot sent it for replacement because everything seems to work fine when my phone is stock/unrooted.
The phone is brand new, got it last saturday.
Is there any one who has heard of this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Jeffrey

[Q] Call Issues

Hello. I've had this device for awhile now and it's probably the best phone I've ever had.. except I started to have problems with regards to calls just recently. I actually rooted the device about 2 months ago and am currently using the Rombie mod v2 (JPC), if that helps. Anyway, the problem happens in the middle of a conversation, where the proximity sensor somehow disappears and the speaker mode is activated on its own (or maybe it gets in contact to my skin, I'm not sure, since the screen is supposed to remain blank). After that, the device becomes unresponsive: the touch sensitive menu and back keys don't work, and neither does the screen itself..but the hard key home button works and I could still hear the other caller via loudspeaker. I force a reset and everything goes back to normal (I mean this call issue doesn't happen all the time). I don't have any screen protector to affect the performance of the sensor. Anyone can help me out with this? Thanks!

screen broken?

Hey guys, from last night to this morning my N1 started having problems with the screen, it didnt have any fall or anything.
The screen doesnt work for most of the times.. Some times when i wake it up it works for a few mins and then goes black. It looks like a bad contact on the screen conectors or something like that. The touch screen works fine, i can unlock the phone when the screen is not working by sliding.
I got the phone back a few weeks ago from the repair service for a rigid-flex repair, so maybe they missed a screw or something.
Anyone had same problem or knows what may be happening?
Thanks!
Running CM7 nightly but i guess it doesnt matter.
well, now the screen works if i press it hard in the middle of the screen, if i release it goes black.

[Q] screen going black when making or receiving call / camera no longer working

using HTC Google Nexus One, Android 2.3.4
This is very strange, but I noticed today that my camera is no longer working. I have no idea why, but it just goes black when I select camera. I have restarted my phone, took out the battery, etc. and nothing. Also, I even tried downloading other camera apps, and they won't work either.
Even more frustrating, though, is that my phone goes black when I make or receive a call. The calls do not get dropped, but when the call is over, I can't even hang up, as my screen is black. It's weird because my phone is still "ON," but I obviously can't do anything. The only thing I can do is take out the battery, put it back in, and turn the phone back on. Then, it works perfectly normal...until I make or receive another call. I have no idea what to do.
Can anyone help? I'd really appreciate it, as I use my phone for everything!
Hi,
I had very similar issues after accidentally dropping the phone (landed exactly on its face) . The sensors no longer worked, nor the camera and the flash light.
The problem during the phone calls is most probably related to the defect of the proximity sensor. However, I managed to use the phone with a bluetooth headset. The screen could be turned on any time, and, of course, I could terminate the call using the headset's hardware button. I used my N1 this way for over a year...
Few weeks ago I dismounted the phone, and realized that upper motherboard's connetor was detached from the main motherboard. After fixing it, everything is fine again.
I followed instructions from here: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing+Nexus+One+upper+motherboard/8025/1
I hope it helps.
Cheers,
Zoltan
Thank you for this thread
I created an xda account just to post about how this helped me.
My Nexus One camera had stopped working, auto-rotate no longer worked, and my screen was remaining dark after completing phone calls. So annoying. Was about to pony up some money for a new phone.
BUT... I followed the ifixit instructions that Zoltan posted above to take my phone apart, and low and behold, I had a loose connector. Plugged it back in, reassembled my phone without breaking anything, and it works! I have camera and auto-rotate again, and my screen acts normally when making phone calls.
Thank you!

[Q] LG P990 Touch screen stops working until reboot

Hi everyone, I was hoping I could get some help with my LG P990 (Optimus 2x), I recently changed the screen and digitizer (it was broken so I replaced it myself with a new original one).
The thing is that since then sometimes the digitizer just stops working. The screen works, the buttons (screen lock and volume up and down) works, but the touch screen is dead. Obviously I can't reboot the phone so I take off the battery and put it back, the phone shuts down, reiniciates and there it goes, everything is good again, working perfectly... until it stops and the whole thing goes like this over and over...
Any clues of what might be causing this? I think it should be something software related since the digitizer works PERFECTLY until it kinda freezes... but I'm not sure, really not a smartphone guy so...
Thanks a lot!
P.S.: Tried to use the developer tools > locate pointer function and touched everything everywhere accross the screen and it's fully working, no dead zones, so the problem is "random" i mean it just stops working randomly, and I also didn't notice any patterns like "it freezes when i'm doing something specifically" it's totally random, happened when receiving a call, when making a call, while playing a game, while just browsing through the menu, while trying to unlock the screen... at least APPARENTLY random, maybe something i didn't notice if I do, i'll add later...

[Q] Phone is crashing after the call

Hey recently I changed my digitizer in Xperia SP. I opened it up, threw away the old digitizer and sticked the new one. Only the most superficial layer. Everything else remained the same. After that I noticed slightly worse touch sensitivity but I thought it might bea common thing since it isn't the stock digitizer anymore. But after some time phone started to act wierd. Sometimes it becomes unresponsive to any touch, I must reset it with the button from behind. It occurs especially after the phone call. Anyone know why it can happen? Power button works fine, also the volume up/down.
I had the byagusz's cyanogenmod11 and I thought that maybe it is because of the system but I replaced it now with stock rom and the problem is still there.
Is it possible that I didnt connect everything properly ? Should I open the phone again and correct every tape ? Please any help is needed
