Turn off your device completely. Hold Volume down + Home + Power for 5 Secs. Then it ll boot into download mode, Now press volume up button for Download mode confirmation. Now you are in download mode. on the left top corner you can see details about your phone. and it should be like below image (This is image of S2, But it looks like same as in N7000 also)
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

1-Use another version of odin like 1.70, google it.
2-use the correct pit file.
3-check the file is not corrupt, one day I try to changue the kernel in the rom and odin filed to flash it.

For anyone else who happens across this thread, you might also want to try Heimdall which is sometimes more reliable at getting past the exclamation-mark-PC-screen problem. Worked a charm for me, at least.
Yep Heimdall is good, but just make sure you put the files in the right place..... Paperweights can be bought much cheaper....

Note 5: bad firmware/OS - can't get around it

I'm working on a Galaxy Note 5 that I am trying to reset the firmware on. Someone's installed a custom build (that's verified in the "about phone" details) and it co-opts the volume down button boot sequence, so I can't get into download or safe mode. I've attached a screenshot. Has anyone seen this before and how to I purge this thing?

Image not showing
Ok, let's hope this works as a link to the image:
This happens with the power-volume down and power-volume down-home sequences, so I can't get it into safe mode. Someone's definitely put a custom image on, but I'm not sure how to clean it/replace it.
The power-volume up sequence works fine, but since this is a custom image, it won't get cleaned off by wiping the cache and/or factory reset.
Apparently, since I'm a newbie here, I can't post external links, which makes the forced external URLs for images a little useless to me right now...
Can't you just power off, boot into download mode and Odin a stock firmware, then re-root after?

That's the thing - whoever did this co-opted the sequence to boot into download mode - power + volume-down/power + volume-down + home. I did find a way to do it without needing to go into boot mode, but I can't post the link here because I'm a newbie! That should solve my problem - I'm just setting it up on Linux and I'll keep people posted on the solution.
What's happened is that someone's basically done a custom firmware/kernel combo that makes it impossible to get into download mode, so you have to totally backdoor it. When I get it working and verify it, I'll post the solution here.

Samsung Note 9 [Exynos-INS]- Unable to Enter into Download Mode

Hi ALl,
Like many others I'm also facing this Discoloration issue on my Note 9. So wanted to flash stock ROM on my device. I have downloaded stock ROM using FRIJA app and tried to flash that ROM. However, I'm unable to enter into DOWNLOAD MODE. I'm following this thread currently.
as per instructions, Switched Off my mobile and I have connected my cable to device then holding BIXBY + VOLUME DOWN button connecting cable to my PC. Instead of going into Download Mode Its getting charging there. As it was switched off, simply showing battery percentage.
Please help me to get it done if I'm doing anything wrong here.
PS: As mentioned in thread I haven't switched on developer options & USB debugging mode.
Thank you

Unable to find Samsung S10 Firmware that matches device Build date or SN

Hello,
I'm new to everything here, patience is appreciated.
I'm trying to find stock Samsung firmware for a Samsung S10. i can not seem to find the appropriate version of firmware that corresponds to device IMEI/Model/sku/SN
I am located in Canada and none of the values offered give me the confidence to continue with the process of flashing the stock firmware.
I have attached a screenshot of the barcodes displayed by device
Welcome to XDA
Once you upload an image you need to choose thumbnail or full display on the image for it to appear in your post.
You might want to blur that IMEI number more, it's extractable I think...
What's your current OS version?

not sure of OS version... the fone is stuck in bootloop with a light blue screen with a white triangle and exclamation point.
direction had me try 'smart switch' but software didnot provide "initialize device'...
Try powering up into the boot menu. If you can try to factory reset.

what the hell happened there!?!?
You'll need to use odin to reinstall your "bl" file out of the firmware files. You've wiped your bootloader. Once it has that it should be a fairly easy fix. Or just go with all of them, reeinstall the firmware entirely.

@Samarimama I have edited your post to point to the article you searched. Please don't post long links.
@bilatche What happens if you hold down the Power button for at least 10 seconds?

absolutely nothing.... I have tried to recharge the phone, but still booting on DL screen....
The only solution I see : go back on last stock firmware via odin.
I will try this week.

If you're unable to reboot the phone, this won't help you. Have you tried holding down the power button until the phone does something?
nothing with long press on power....
here is the screen appearing 1 second at boot before being stuck on DL screen:

"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

}
I will see if reinstall stock rom fixes the DL issue...
maybe it's an error due that I didn't have flashed vbmeta after twrp ?

You don't have the official firmware, you need to flash the official.
