Android is all about choices. And here's another choice for AOSP ROM:
"AOKP" (Android Open KANG Project) is a built from source ROM similar to CyanogenMod (but different).
I didn't create AOKP, I only ported it to the Droid 4.
You can visit the AOKP website here:
http://forum.aokp.co/
Their developers include: Roman, Zaphod-Beeblebrox, Whitehawkx, and more.
The future of AOKP is quite bright as new features are popping up all the time.

You can follow me on Twitter at:

Github sources are here:

FOR DEVS: You can check out the local_manifest.xml for getting this ROM up and running here:
https://github.com/STS-Dev-Team/android_local_STS/tree/ics-aokp
Special Note about 4G/3G Data:
Data for this build has been a bit finicky. When you reboot, you will probably need to go to: Settings -> Wireless & networks -> More .. -> Mobile networks
Click on "Network Mode" and goto GSM-only, wait for 5 seconds, and then back to LTE/CDMA. This should help data come up.
THIS IS TEMPORARY AND WILL BE FIXED.
WHAT DOESN'T WORK:
Better Camera function (FFC, Face detect, etc in progress)
HW Video Codecs (in progress)
Bluetooth on but not connected = loss of all audio (in progress)
ENJOY!

this is my main concern, i'll quickly switch over to this one

Since Hash is using the same code trees for both, I would assume they would be the same.

OP nightly link points to the D3. Here is D4 link: http://rombot.droidhive.com/ROMs/maserati/aokp/
Also, big fan of AOKP on the GNex, my fiancée is looking forward to this on her D4!

The dl links haven't worked all day for me.

Has some ROMbot issues over the last few days. Sorry about that.
Updated the build to 3/16 and fixed the download links.

Just flashed clean. Freaking love it, best rom I've ever seen.
However, I'm having data issues at boot.
Love the fast torch feature.

I loaded up MIUI-V4-Alpha: (3/20/12) CDMA for the Razr on my Droid 4. (Based on hashcode's work)
It boots but there are a few obvious bugs. First, data seems to be bugged on roaming. The lockscreen resolution seems a bit off. Keyboard light does not work, and keyboard mapping is off. (Shift 2 doesn't to @, etc.) Everything else seems to be working fine, hopefully we'll get a less bugged port soon. If anybody knows how to port this stuff which already works on the D4 builds over, we'd have a working MIUI.

my keyboard backlight doesn't work.

Go to settings and enable auto brightness. Then hit custom backlight settings, edit other levels and make every block 255. Hit save and apply then viola, kb backlight

Is it possible to just have the keyboard brightness on even if you don't use auto brightness. I know you can adjust the different levels of brightness when using auto but I always keep my phone on a set brightness level and would like to have the brightness on the keyboard.

So your work is staying true(r) to the original material while they're doing similar stuff for other devices and adding custom features along the way?
Edit: Or is this more of a Debian vs Fedora base type thing? I'm not familiar with KANG.

What is the "Android Open KANG Project" and why should I care about it?
Anyone else having trouble with the amazon app store. I can log in to the amazon site and the kindle app but the app store comes up with "enter a valid email address and password". Anyone else getting this?
On side note battery % increments are 10 not 1.
Definitely not as smooth or fast as our cm9 yet...keyboard lags UI stuff isn't as smooth. Maybe no dual core enable? Lol who knows. This definitely a lot cooler than cm9 tho

How do i put scrolling cache to default disable?
U can turn scrolling cache off in settings under rom control and then all the way to the bottom performance. It smooths a few things up but intensive scrolling apps like twitter and facebook depend on scrolling cache..so its a trade off

For some reason the Magicjack app resets and ask me for username and password after a few minutes to and hour. I am only stating it here because it worked with CM9, CM10, Peach, and stock without this problem.
Thanks

Also the Dock goes completely blank if I try to remove or add any icon. Can fix it by going to settings and disable Dock, and re-enable it.
Other than these problems I can say it is a great ROM so far. Faster and more stable than CM10. Thanks...

Yeah, it's kinda weird how some bugs can be resolved just by disabling/re-enabling something. I've seen it numerous times in the past. Thanks for the tip! I use Apex myself, so it's less useful to me, but might be good information for others. Cheers!
Did you get panorama camera working?
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda app-developers app
Found out that the problem I had posted before about MagicJack app had zero to do with ROM. They that I can only have the app installed and working on a finite amount of devices and that's it. That includes different ROMs, and there is no way to remove old devices from the account. This makes the account useless except at the house with their dongle connected to the computer. MagicJack Sucks.
Found a better way via GrooveIP and Google Voice anyways.

I had the same issue before in Pacman. This is how I fixed it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34243663&postcount=63
Hey guys, just gonna go on a the guess that
1. This rom includes the same RILs that cyanogenmods do.
2.That 911 is also not working in this rom just like the others.
So i made a zip for this rom too to fix 911.
CM9 911 Fix
CM10 911 Fix
Paranoid 911 Fix
tazmaniondvl has noted that the cm10 zip does work so this should too.
Edit: I just realized i never changed the text in the update-script to say the proper build, it says cm9 but w.e. just make sure you choose the right zip the files are named properly.
TWRP! Hooray smartguy!

~ As of [02-Sep-2013]
nothing (or if something is broken I haven't found it yet

--- Changelog ---
Sept 17 2013 Removed 4.2 builds to save space now that 4.3 is rock solid, next update will actually be a real update
July 03 2013 Uploaded aospa that I build on July 2nd
Dropbox link is temp until the upload on mediafire finishes
And I'll probably build gsm as well later one once I feel like I have a solid grasp on cdma, and to see if there's bugs I missed as well
--- Update [2013-07-21]
pulled in latest aospa patches and some personal touches, instead of cm's privacy guard I included from ChaOS permissions' manager allowing individual control of each app's allowed permissions. Uploaded latest builds for both cdma and gsm variants.
Only two things I've noticed:
~ I somehow broke halo colors, I'll fix that in the next build
~ Gps icon stays in statusbar once you get a lock, disappears after you reboot. Not a functionality issue just kinda annoying imo.
--- Update [2013-08-27]
~ Updated DL links to include 4.2 and 4.3 versions
~ Check Pa's G+ page for further changelog
--- Update [02-Sep-2013]
~ xt926, xt925, xt907 have been updated with pa 4.3 and are all daily drivers. Or at least I know xt926 is, if the other two aren't let me know.
And just putting this out there, these builds will stay close to aospa but have a few changes from me

Been running this ROM since it was posted and battery life is great. So far this has been the most stable and smoothest ROM I have flashed.

I have one problem play store no longer has the option to charge to my Verizon account. Does anyone know how to get that back?

As far as I know that is dictated by Verizon, not Google. It may mean that you've gone over your $20 cap for the billing cycle.

I haven't went over my $20 cap my account renews on the 21st and I haven't purchased anything since. It was available in the last 5 Roms I have flashed. I have cleared cache for Google play, Google services, and Google framework and rebooted still no go. Guess I will have to leave this awesome ROM because I don't use debit or credit cards. If the Dev gets it fixed I will come back because I haven't had any problems except for that.

I flashed this, very smooth, couldn't get built in Wi-Fi tether to start up though even after a reboot.

Anyone have a working download link? The dropbox link in the OP seems to have been gang-pinged to death.

Not sure? Do you mean mobile chrome or desktop? I use chrome as well on mint and windows and both said no such thing.

Also I'm still uploading to mediafire since it kept failing last night I stopped trying as of this post I started again so I hope it goes up this time.
Will it run on Razr HD XT925 in Germany, too? :fingers-crossed:

MIUIv5 4.2.7 Download
2-10-2014: MIUI v5 4.2.7
Working:
- Everything
- LTE does not stick through reboot and in this case data must be re-applied manually via *#*#4636#*#*
* To be fair CDMA MIUI is very rare
* Make sure to enable ADB debugging if you encounter MTP issues.
MIUI General FAQ
Q: How do I root this?
A: Enable root in the perm manager, which can be found in the security folder.
Q: Why is G-Apps not listed for Download?
A: Too Bloaty, add a Google account and install the play store as an APK, I suggest using Aptoide to find it.
Q: 4G LTE isn't working
A: Load the Phone, dial *#*#4636#*#*, goto Phone information, Set preferred network type to LTE/CDMA auto (PRL).
Q: Help! Phone/SystemUI/Keyboard Isn't working/Is Force Closing!
A: Make sure to do a completely clean wipe, also I'm not sure how well this will work if flashed in CWM.
Q: The Browser looks terrible.
A: Settings -> Advanced -> User agent string -> MiOne (It Renders much better & more naturally!)
Q: My Filesystems won't mount/My PC can't see my device/My phone won't act as a MTP/USB Mounting isn't working!
A: Settings -> Developer Options -> Enable Development / USB Debugging (switch both to on)
Nice work man
Gonna try it out tomorrow

100%
It's most def. not my proudest release because It is in such an early state but I can really feel the increase in speed and smoothness present in 10.1 based MIUI and so I put this up more as a preview than anything else.
I know It's off-topic but I do want to say that although I am the thread holder here more than a few people have given me invaluable help, I really do not feel this is a solo project and is much closer to a community effort.
Could you tell me how this build is doing on the HD in terms of function?
I played with the ROM for a couples hours its very smooth. The only things I noticed were underline code tags in some menus. About phone force closes and WiFi tether doesn't work nor 4g.
I'll spend whatever free time I have testing it if need be I love the miui rom

Downloading now, forget 4g as long as MIUI is FINALLY available lol! Thanks tons!
Playing wiht this on my XT926 MAXX.
Very smooth. I can't see any serious bugs for now.
Only minor:
- "about" in settings causes FC
- file explorer not working
- can't switch network mode
planning to use it for every day)
thanks!
can anyone here port this rom or build it for xt925

Guys, what about root acces? Mine not working!
Done: Security center - permissions - root - enable permission monitor.
Any app that require root acces just not working!
Fixed 4G on this build!!!
Load the Phone, dial *#*#4636#*#*, goto Phone information, Set preferred network type to LTE/CDMA auto (PRL).
Enjoy 4G!
Now we need the xt925 build

Can I flash this ROM to XT925 right now, or need to wait for special build for it?
sorry for my English
Wait because xt926 is CDMA and xt925 is GSM so data and calls won't work
Sent from my MB886 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
After playing around with 4g fix, I realize this needs some work. After a reboot the settings are lost and then it is difficult to get 4g back. It phone jumps around between GSM and CDMA and LTE, but hopefully this will lead to a permanent fix.

Has anyone gotten tether to work?

Bump, Daily Driver
Worth noting that the battery life in this is fantastic, It is very close to CM10.1 in terms of consumption and is not as 'heavy' as previous v5 versions

Nah man. Its not working. Looks like the USB tether will work though. Can't test as I sadly don't have a computer but it did turn when I plugged it into my ps3 ( which is not able to pick up the USB tether to begin with)
One problem I've run into on the latest build, is that I can no longer add a Google account to use the Play Store. Other than that (which is a fairly major issue, btw), I love the ROM.
I just installed the whole gapps package, but make sure to turn off the miui sync or you will get fc

That's how MIUI is designed, It has it's own G-apps installer now afaik.
But I'll check into this; I noticed and was annoyed by it too haha
