cant root - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

any1 know why root doesnt work for me.I tried all files from all websites but none roots my phone

Are u on gingerbread ???? If so ull need to flash CWM 5 first and then flash ace gingerroot (both these files are present at androidflip.com just google it )...this should work try it...its important to have a custom.recovery like cwm4 or cwm 5..

to flash cwm i need root first, and i dont need any rom i just want to root my phone

You don't need root permission for installing CWM. You have to put the cwm file zip in your sd card, going to recovery, install zip, flash the zip. After this, you can reboot and goin to recovery for the root procedure.

You don't and also you should USUALLY only follow guides on xda
AOKP 4 LYF (possibly CM7 aswell)

It doesnt require root dude ....flashing cwm doesnt require root flashing roms does just do it already....
Hehe..yeah try to follow most guides frm xda but it never hurts to follow frm other sites ;-)

ive read that but i dont understand what is adb shell and where i type those commands

You don't need to ave cwm to root, I did it with the phone recovery!!!
If you have gingerbread, you have to flash via recovery this file:

Cheers

Yeah but bfore u flash the above file YOU MUST FLASH CWM5 ..u can find it here in xda ..flsah cwm5 before fkashing the above file..there are many tutorials on youtube showing the same

I suggest you to fully charge your phone first.
Be sure your ace has an android version of 2.3.3/2.3.4/2.3.5/2.3.6/2.3.7 [GINGERBREAD](this'll be a lot easier)
if your android version is listed above,
turn off phone,
Press Power+Home Button (release when Galaxy Ace Logo Appears), use volume keys to navigate,
select APPLY UPDATE FROM SDCARD,
select upd_1.zip
confirm
Phone is now rooted.
Installing CWM 5.0.2.6:
turn off phone,
Press Power+Home Button (release when Galaxy Ace Logo Appears), use volume keys to navigate,
select APPLY UPDATE FROM SDCARD,
select recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip
confirm
Phone has now CWM flash recovery.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I WON'T BE RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR DEVICE GOT BRICKED.
Edit: This is exactly what I did in my Galaxy Ace

try to use superoneclick

1) Install CWM 5 ( Download zip, transfer to SD-card, turn off phone, boot phone while holding home button, install update from zip, and select the CWM 5 file )
2) Download the root zip file to your SD-card, make sure it's for gingerbread, and the good version for your phone!
3) In CWM choose Install package from zip, then select the root zip, then it will install really quickly, though, if you get an error Status 7 try another zip file! udp_1.zip didn't work for me.
4) Now your phone is rooted, root checker apps might say it's not but it is! I had this problem untill i installed CM 7.
Might post download links later, gotta go study for my exams now . If u need any more help PM me.

[Q] How can i change the Kernel in NOTE?

I'm a x10 user who changed the kernel, baseband and of course ROM of my little 4 inch x10... all with xrecovery and flashtools.
I'm now with the wonderful Galaxy NOTE and I read that here I should use CMW, stock recovery and other like ROM manager.
but I haven't seen anything that matches with my kernel KJ8... so
can I change my kernel to KKA OR KK8 OR SOMETHING ELSE???
IF THAT'S THE CASE... HOW DO I DO THAT?
THANKS 4 READING AND LOT OF THANKS 4 ANSWERING ME...
yes you can use a kka or kk9 kernel without a problem.
First you need to root and accordingly flash a kernel.
In developer section you can find how to do so.

Enough with the capslock.
1. Boot into recovery.
2. From recovery mode, select wipe cache partition
3. Installed zip from SD card
4. Navigate to the kernel and select it to flash it
5. Reboot
Never under any circumstance flash the KK8 Kernel just yet since there's no way to ROOT it.
@georgegon60 You mentioned that you where on KJ8 and that's why you could ROOT it.
Cheers!

ClockworkMod and Galaxy Tab P1000 Thai version

I've upgrade to 2.3 via Kies and rooted my phone already, but I have no idea how to flash CWM Recovery. When I try to via the market rom manager app, the only options are Epic 4G and GalaxyS i9000. Any ideas?
I've looked at this guide, although it's in Thai Google translate does well enough, but I'm no longer on 2.2 and my device is already rooted, so I'm not sure if I can still use part of it to get CWM Recovery.

How to Install CWM Recovery in Galaxy Mini S5570 Smartphone?
So, let's begin. Follow instructions below to install latest cwm recovery in your galaxy mini handset.
Make sure you have got Gingerbread OS on your galaxy mini : Upgrade to GB if you don't have.
Download Odin Multidownloader v4.38 for GTS5570, Tass_v1.ops and latest Clockwork Mod Recovery if you do not have them already. You can download them from here.
Run Odin Multi downloader v4.38 and select the Tass_v1.ops by clicking OPS button.
Select One Package Option and Click One Package button and select the recovery file name (CWM-5.0.2.8-Touch2-yagya.tar.md5) file you downloaded.
Leave other settings to default (i.e. don’t change any other options/settings)
When you are done reboot your phone in download mode (Press Volume Down + Home + Power button to go to download mode)
Connect your phone in download mode to your computer via USB Cable.
When Odin detects your phone (If you see a com port number written in yellow background at the top left, then your phone is detected. View image.), click Start button.
Wait till Odin finishes the job (approx. 3-5 minutes) and when it reports ‘PASS’, you can disconnect your phone.
That's all. You have flashed latest CWM recovery on your device.

I guess some users still prefer flashing recovery via Odin unlike you or me.

I said from stock Gingerbread recovery..
Just put zip file to sd card (not in folder)
Get in to recovery then just apply update ..
No lappy or desktop needed.. No download mode..
Just bluethoot the zip to my friend, then made it...
Easyest way..

Because you are using stock rom. You need custom roms like CM7 for this to work properly. You can get one at http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com and then try again. It will work nicely.
I got an error:
"cannot open the usb serial port. code: 2"
what should I do? Disconnect the phone or wait?
Thank you all.
You will need to close Samsung Kies if you have it installed otherwise install USB drivers from Samsung and try again.
Thanks for your help yagya.
I have rebooted the PC, reconnected the phone and everything worked out perfectly. Now I have CWM installed and running .
Just one question, if I reflash stock ROM on the device trough Kies, will it get rid of CWM or will I still have it?

[PARTIALLY-SOLVED] Galaxy Ace S5830 - Can't boot into cwm recovery

Dear Community, greetings.
I have a problem as wrote in the title: I can't boot into cwm recovery. I am gonna try to summarize the main points that lead me here.
Assumption
I used to install custom ROMS flawlessy, following always the instruction etc...
Last rom I've installed was CM7.2 Apocalypse, Project Silk and Link2SD
I needed to restore stock rom
I searched with Google and came across the following solutions
I searched on XDA and came across the following solutions
What I have done...
I flashed using odin 4.38 -> GB 2.3.6 2012 October 2.3.6 S5830XWKTS S5830ITVKT2 downloaded from sammobile.com
I rooted the phone with upd_1.zip (that is attached to this thread)
I tried to install recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip
...and trying to boot into recovery pushing POWER BT + HOME BT the phone stucks on the screen with "Galaxy GT-S5830" and the top-left corner was green
What I have done #2
I tried to use S5830XXKA6 but I dind't neither managed to boot properly (wiped data/factory and cache)
Tried to flash CWM directly with Odin using "One Package"
Could you kindly help me out?:fingers-crossed: I am also willing to give you further information as you ask.
Thanks everyone for your time.:good:
F.
---- PARTIAL FIX by myself ----
1. Format the sdcard in linux with GParted (you need to install android-tools-adb, android-tools-fastboot)
2. Flashed stock firmware S5830XWKTS S5830ITVKT2 with ODIN Multidownloader 4.38 (downloadeble from www.sammobile.com under ITALY)
3. Rooted with upd_1.apk and updated with Superuser 3.0 (attached)
4. Installed CWM 6.0.1.4
5. Restore an old backup of mine.
6. Rejoice

First of all, thank you very much for the reply. Then, the answer is yes and no. I flashed several firmwares. Some of them did work, others don't. Right now I managed to use the one I've mentioned before and
S5830XWKT7_S5830ITVKT1_ITV
S5830XWKP6_XWKPN
but trying S5830_XXKA6 it goes in bootloop also wiping data and cache.
Further information:
I noticed a problem with CSC. While booting in standard recovery an error message appeared saying something like "can't open /system/csc/XEU/system", so I've created the whole directory path and put the files that were in /system/csc inside. This issue is fixed. I am going to investigate and let you know if with other firmware I listed above I get the same behaviour.

[Q] Problems in rooting S5830

Hi.
I've been trying to root my phone, Samsung Galaxy S5830 (not plus or Ace 2), I downloaded many root files and nothing worked, I used universal_gb_root_v25.zip, It shows Installation complete in CWM but the Superuser App doesn't show up. Also in Root Checker it says No proper root access. What to do ?
I have tried all the tutorials on XDA including these popular ones,

Is it a firmware problem ?

CWM Recovery
U should use stock recovery to root stock rom. But if u r looking to flash a custom rom, then u don't need root. Flash custom rom directly via cwm.

Flash your stock firmware back using odin through Download Mode. Make sure to backup all the necessary data before that. Goto Recovery Mode and install Root and then CWM. Finally reboot and you are good to go. Now flash any custom rom you want. Hope I Helped
