Of course the life of the cpu is reduced but not so much. I think it is not dangerous unless you set performance for scaling. I usually overclock it at 729 Mhz and have not problems at all

i don't think it's dangerous if it still around 7xx, cuz i've use that for a while now n it's ok.
but i've try oc once with 864mhz and i found some problem that it suddenly get stopped working(hang), i try to reboot n it still the same.

will you guys tell me how to overclock to 700+ i tried using setcpu...but dont know what to do next, currently using stock ROM 2.3.6, Rooted
Please post the link or pm me
Thanks

If you have stock, then there is no overclock for you. Usually, custom ROMs have overclock feature and apps like setcpu, nofrills, etc works on these ROMs.. You'll have to flash custom ROMs first before you can OC or you can check this page from godell:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485122
OC kernels for stock rom.. Disclaimer: Read first before you do anything. Do it at your own risk..

710 MHz is veeery safe. I only stopped my OC at 806 MHz because on 825 Mhz it was not stable.
At 806 MHz my phone do not heat up, and I didn't notice my battery dying faster.
PS: I OC my phone for more than 6 months continuously (GOvernor: LilgV2; I/O: noop). And use No Frills CPU.

I am having S5570DDKQ7 BaseBand Version, coz in thread he has mentioned not to use this for DDKQ7 version. Please post it in the thread.
as i am not able to post in thread coz i am having less than 10 posts.

thank for all

Dude.. the Ace can be overclocked, it just needs a modded Kernel. If you're so eager why don't you make that yourself..
i think sir nprussell will make an OC kernel for us

SAD
Its really sad that there is less support for Ace.. No Cyanogen Mod... No overclocking... where others are getting better support..

The good guys left because of idiots in this forum , they only know how to ask when and don't know when to be patient .
If I'm an Ace developer I would've done the modules .

Testing OC Speed
Using galaxy ace and my current stable OC is 921 MHz (quite hot when charging and using wi-fi at the same time) using paranoid android ROM galaxyics kernel ver 2.6.35.7
I'll keep it updated... (no tweaks YET)
*update* After reboot it is no longger becoming hot so it's safe
*update 2* 940 Mhz is safe (so far)

Why on holy earth did you revive a dead thread?:what:
Back from the dead..
Ok..So that this dead thread is resurrected, why don't we ask the mod to lock it?
Woah.....The OP expects the Ace to be overclocked to 1.2 Ghz. We would be having a burning plastic brick in our hands...lol...!

940MHz is safe?
How about stable?
Sometimes by just running a benchmark i will reboot or FC
Sent from my GT-S5830L using xda premium
What do you really want to do with overclocking. and risking your phone. 800 mhz is slow, I agree, but its not bad enough for daily use.
The highest stable you should risk up to is 883 mhz.
Even 921 mhz is stable.
But higher than that is just overworking the processor.
If you really want your phone to be fast. Its not only done by overclocking. You should look over to scripts like Adrenaline Engine and stuff. Maybe even setting up zram, to up to 18%.
But risking your processor. Nope. Don't do it.

940 MHz is safe, but when my ace lags, it reboots (i was playing fruit ninja in multi-tasking with browser)... So i'm trying to find out why... I've set the min and max at 940 MHz, so the CPU is stable at 940 MHz...I'm trying to test 960 MHz, but it shutdown eventually and didn't gives me a bootloop when i set to 960, please be aware that i'm using maclaw's kernel and his ROM... I'm not responsible for any damage if you did what I did, but if you want to try do a NAND Backup then try it... if it goes with a bootloop simply wait, a few boots and the CPU will be back to 800 MHz, if it didn't simply reset it...
*update* gives me bootloop after a few minutes

Get better rom,overclock it,use jit
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
Does that mean the better the rom, the better the flash support?
i get this and i am using Giingerdx...v007
install ginger dx.dont overclock it.delete unuseful apps that use a lot of ram.and use application fast reboot to free up ram.and you should get the score of 1200+ like i got.
why not to overclock and yes i have install unusefull app
I dont see quadrant is important. just feel it.
Stock Rom sucks in Quadrant, @691mhz I had 390 points ! Now with GingerDX 1100points.

why not overclock, i use gingerdx v.007 overclocked to 125-787 Mhz and my score is 1517. i see a big difference after overclocking it.
Hi can you teach me how to overclock? and what app is use to do that? sorry for the noob question im new here in Xda and im interested to learn every piece of knowledge i need to learn about my x8 so it will be worthy i bought it help me. and except lot of thanks!!.
Go to overclock thread download the module, copy it to /system/lib/module then ismod oc in your hwconfig download setcpu then set the desired value there. Nwei most rom have preinstalled oc you just need to use setcpu.

Yes im using froyobread 23b and there is a clockmod installed i think thats the name. What is the best setting ?? Thanks for responding.

I suggest consider OC yourself.
Advantage of that: Your device will be smoother.
Disadvantage of that: Overheat/Unstable. Battery drain fast.
Yes i oc it max of 600 is that okay? U want to score 1000 what should i do? Yes i saw my battery drains faster.btw thx for responding

You have to know your phone's spec. This phone's CPU is MSM7227, which is 600MHz. So, actually you didn't OC it at all.
We have many way to save battery, search it yourself
Ill try to run quadrant with uv on minicm, well se what happens

[Q] is there a rom that can be stable overclock on the 806 frequency?

I use gingerdx v12 and can sometimes restart itself (unstable)
Look the best of your processor oc.
If you get reboot at 806, it mean your device can't oc to 806
If you bestest overclock, i mean like your best oc is 768, that mean you only can oc from 0 Mhz (??) -- > 768 Mhz
Not connect with your rom!
Hit thanks if i helped you!
Edit: Also wrong thread section, it must at Q&A

Post questions in q&a section.
Each phone has different maximum overclock frequency. The rom doesn't matter, the phone does.
processor might be working harder,i'm affraid overclocking my phone in 800mhz..
i think oc in 710 should be nice and stable but batery drains more faster

Although there might be a relationship between ROM and Overclock Stability, repeated test on various ROMS still gets me the same OC max of 748Mhz.
Please note that overclockability of the CPU depends on the CPU. Not all CPU's of the same make are equal. the design of our X8 called for a 600Mhz CPU clock, so it goes that it will be and always be stable at 600 Mhz. However go more than that and you have no guarantee at which Max Clock you will get. If you could go to 800 without FC and/or reboots then consider yourself very lucky.
for me.. i can't go far.. im using GingerCruzt.. and it has an option on overclocking.. once i checked the overclocked my phone reboots always..
I can overclock with the Gingercruzt v7.3 oc module to 806Mhz, and it's not restart. Doxianh module i can max 768Mhz
Sorry for my english :S

I can confirm OC @806Mhz with GC OC module (instead of DX's), running on MiniCM7 2.0.7...stable.
hmm when i using gingerDX v11, i tried overclock to 806Mhz and it stable for a while, but in 5 minutes i think, my device get reboot...
all roms can stable at 787Mhz in my device.. no reboot no force close... just stable and smooth, but battery drain

You should probably check in the Alliance Thread if it's supported and works ok, but I remember from my GB days that Abyss 4.2 (Redpill Touch) was about the best kernel you could flash for our Note...
Also when you say "overclock to 400 MHz"...I suppose that you're talking about the minimum frequency. You can overclock your minimum frequency with mostly any kernel that has root.
I use AnTuTu CPU Master from the Play Store. It's free and really easy and intuitive to use.

The only one I know of that allows GPU over clocking and voltage control is Thor kernel. Not found on xda as the creator is persona non grata. Google it.
I use the app Voltage Control to specify frequency and voltage settings, very useful. Give it a try.

Are using tegrak or set cpu to set cpu speed?
I cannot access youtube link.
Use Notecore's overclocked kernel. And based on variation in speed change voltages using tegrak. it is because each and every individual hardware has different voltage requirements. My earnest advice for you is not to overclock. It may harm your phone in long run.

Btw which kernel version did you use ..standar or overclock one? maybe your phone chip cannot handle that freqency (1600 mhz) in constant time or maybe your cpu in high temp and adjust to the safe speed (800 mhz) so won't harm the chip..just try the normal max speed if you use the standar version and see if make a diff result
and +1 with Akilesh said about hardware has different voltage requirements
try different scheduler/governator combo
