[Q] Galaxy S doesn't boot!!!!! :'( - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was running Android 4.0 ICS custom rom on my Galaxy S I9000 (international version), and everything was okay.today, I turned it off, and then I tried to turn it on again normally, but it kept showing the vivd colors screen without continuing. I remembered that the same problem occurred with me before on 2.3.3, and the solution was a simple odin-flashing of just one file. The problem now is that I couldn't remember which exactly of the 4 files in odin this one is (it's the one responsible for mounting the sdcard), and I connected my device while in downloading mode and recklessly flashed only PIT file (with other fields empty). Now the device doesn't boot at all, as if there is no source of energy within. Can the Company's customer support here fix it anyway or is this its end?!!!!!!

Remove te battery and put it back in. With the 3 button combo go to download mode and flash a 3 file firmware.

Try to boot in download mode (vol down + Home + Power) and flash CWM again!

Recovery mode isn't accesible with 3buttons combo (but still works through SGS Tools)

For some reason I can’t access to recovery mode with 3 buttons combo, I only can access to recovery through SGS Tools app. Please note that I’m talking only about 3buttons recovery mode: I always had and still have 3buttons download mode.
1-I did have 3 buttons recovery mode with JF1, JPK and I think also with JPM.
2-I switched to sztupy “goodbye rfs” 0.1 rom and I realised I couldn’t access to recovery with 3buttons combo (but I still could with SSG Tools).
3-I went back to Jm8 (3buttons recovery mode worked), then JPM (3 buttons recovery mode worked)
4- I installed sztupy Universal Lagfix 0.2, made a reboot to install some lagfix and I did found that once again 3 button combo for recovery didn’t work. The only way to enter recovery mode was with SGS Tools.
4-The bad thing is that now I can’t even enter with SGS Tools because my phone keeps rebooting after I boot up and it arrives the 48% of scanning media.
Anyone knows what could be the problem? I also tried what has been posted in the fix 3-button combo thread but no luck at all…. I already tried to the whole process several times but nothing changed: after installing sztupy universal lagfix 0.2 I stopped having 3buttons recovery…
The only thing I that I think could be is that when I was in recovery I saw something like /system/csc/KOR/system. But my product code end in XEC (it was ending in KOR previously but I restored it back to XEC).
Recovery mode with 2 buttons
Hi buddy,
I am new here and I do not have much experience with android. But, all that I can tell you is that my Samsung Galaxy Y goes into recovery mode pressing the rectangle in the bottom and the start button at the same time and holding them until the recovery mode comes up in the screen. If I touch the volume UP bottom, the phone displays the "RAMDUMP MODE ARM9" message, and I have to pull the battery out.
I hope that it will be helpful.
If someone can throw additional information I will be happy about it
Cheers!

just flash a new kernel via odin bro

Can't get rid of Bootloop :(

Hello everyone - I just tried to load a rom in the dev section (I have done this before many times). Rom ended up boot looping. I used ODIN 1.85 to load kk9 back onto the Note and after ODin reboot, the Note still bootlooops! Any other way to get a working kernel back onto the phone?
Solved! I had to pull battery, go into recovery with Vol Up + Power + Home Button then clear user data and cache. Rebooted just fine after that .

Can you get it into download mode without it turning off? (Hold volume down + home button + power) Or recovery? (Hold volume up + home button + power?) Is it rooted with clockwork mode?

Maybe its a boot loop. Switch off your phone and check if download and recovery mode is available(see next paragraph).
If so follow the steps mentioned.
First of all download xxjw4 firmware for galaxy gt-I9000 from
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/150483619/708026d/I9000XXJW4_I9000OXAJW4_XEU.zip.html
1) Put your phone into Recovery mode (Vol up + Home + Power button) and perform a Wipe data/Factory reset, then a Wipe cache. When done pull the battery out for around ten seconds then re-insert.
(If recovery isn't working ignore this step)
2) Put the phone into Download mode (Vol down + Home + Power button)
3) Unzip the JW4 firmware folder you've downloaded to your Desktop.
4) Launch Odin and click on the button that says PDA and navigate to the PDA file you've just unzipped to your desktop and select it.
5) Connect your phone to your PC via USB. Odin will say Added and a box will turn yellow to indicate it has recognised your phone.
6) Click the start button in Odin and sit back and wait for Odin to flash your phone. When it's finished it will take a few minutes longer for the phone to reboot than is usual so please don't panic. The phone will reboot.
7) When the phone has rebooted, remove the USB cable and you now have the latest 2.3.6. It might be a good idea to repeat step 1 to make sure nothing of the old firmware is left behind.
And that's it, seven steps to 2.3.6 JW4 Value Pack and TouchWiz 4.
In case you want more info about flashing go to this site
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/galaxy-s-gets-official-value-pack-firmware-xxjw4-includes-touchwiz-4/
Enjoy
idon't have a recovery the phone isn't root and but i can get to the download mod !
still i tried what you said with the odin and it doesnt work
the phone wasn't root before and had a stock from the operator
If its a boot loop try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984140
If not download the files from sammobile (2.3.6 xxjw4) put the .tar file in the PDA and 512 pit file in the pit section make sure the repartition is ticked then if it still in a boot loop search for the cfs root and flash that then get the file off the thread I gave you then flash that to the phone as instructed on the thread then your phone should work edit* you need to put your phone into download mode before plugging in and flashing

yeah i know the basics ! but stil it doesnt work ! can it be a hardware problem? and if it right how can i fix it ?
Did you try that method? And when did it start turning off, did you try mpding it or did it just start doing it? Does it he a knock when it turns off or is it at the same place everytime? If it stays turned on in download mode its probably software related also make sure the drivers are installed using kies

Does Odin recognize your phone (com12 or something like that in yellow)
If not then try different USB port or also different cable and computer.
According to my experience if you are able to go to download mode then there is always a way to fix the problem

[Q] Briked - Recovery not working - download mode working

Samsung galxy mini S-GT5570 briked
WORKS: Download mode, it is recogneized by ODIN
NOT WORKS: Recovery mode and the screen it is almost dead it just blinks like he wants to start to show the samsung logo and shuts down.
TRIED: odin install original firmware from samfirmware didnt worked, tried one package tried by parts package, tried smaller versions and bigger versions of stock, none worked
Curios is that with odin it flashes all successfully but it doesnt go in recovery mode or anything, all it works is just vol up + power = ARM dump and vol down + home + power = download mode
I resofted with a custom miui rom for galaxy mini with CWM after reboot dead.
Any ideas, i would apreciate???
have u try froyo firmware or/and three packs firmware?
If the stock not working means bootlooping, then wipe data from stock recovery.

Put the Phone in download mode
and Flash stock Rom and Stock Recovery from Odin the only way to Unbrick Your Phone
Your doomed if you still have warrenty phone samsung and send it to them, do not mention roms or flashing say either were playing game and went off or you were in middle of a call, you tried a freinds battery and charger tried plugging into computer and looked online for answers and been advised to phone them.
DO NOT MENTION FLASHING, ROOTING, OR ROMS

Have you done the tutorial of flashing stock rom via odin rightly?
Have you flashed your phone successfully? make sure that the installation is complete, appear a blue confirmation "PASS"..
If your firmware doesn't in one package, make sure that you choose the right file, I mean :
- BOOT = APBOOT_XXX
- PHONE = MODEM_XXX
- PDA = CODE_XXX
- CSC = GTS5570_CSC_XXX
and DON'T TAKE OFF your USB cable untill the installation is complete, appear a blue confirmation "PASS"..
For getting flashed successfully, please make sure that :
- your computer did not installed Samsung Kies application, I think it may interfere your installing stock-rom process, so please un-install it first..
- you have installed the right or true Samsung USB driver..
- your micro-usb cable is support for your phone
- your battery phone in 90%
- use odin v4.38 or odin v4.42

[Q] Soft Brick issue

Hi,
First time working with a samsung phone, so im not very used to some samsung realted soft.
I'm doing a favor to a friend, he came to this problem where his phone woudnt boot up, He says one day he run out of battery and coudl never turn it on again.
when i turn it on, it gets stucked at boot image (first attached image), if i try to charge the battery image appears but with the loading logo (the loading logo is not moving), he told me that he also tried with another battery and the same appeared.
For what i've read there is a download mode besides recovery mode. I think i have no problem entering download mode (3rd pic), even though i don't know how to use it, pressing a button does nothing, and pluggin it to a pc (drivers installed it) seems the same.
So i wanted to enter recovery mode, and trying o factory reset it, but when i try to enter most of times nothing happens, the others i get weird screen like the one i attached.
I'm not pretty sure how to preceed now. The only thing that appears to be working is the download mode. If that's the case, how can i flahs the stock firmware on it?
Thanks for reading!

You would do the same thing as if it were custom firmware, goto http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/, and download the stock firmware compatible with the device
Enter the device in download mode and flash the stock firmware with Odin
Instructions by SamMobile self:
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin zip-file
Open Odin v3.09
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minute

thanks for the reply, i think i might be doing something wrong, ODIN failed, i attach a screenshot, any idea?
I cannot tell much from the screenshot to be honest, all i can point at would be a newer version of Odin as the instructions told: [LINK TO ODIN 3.09]

Same error as before
im downloading some other firmwares to try, but i dont think there is the problem :s
I've been having this issue for months now. It does that exact thing. Try removing the SIM card and starting the phone as normal and see what happens. If it starts then, we have the exact problem. Mine works perfectly WITHOUT the SIM card but....what's a phone without a SIM card right? I've tried putting the Stock ROM on to no avail as well. I think my thread about this is still somewhere around but I doubt anyone managed to solve the problem either.
If you do work something out post it back. Sorry I couldn't be much help.
E: just posting my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2778167
