Best kernel for gingerbread MIUI? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I run Miui.us build 2.3.23 and it runs the shade.toxygene CyanogenMod kernel. Is there a better kernel I can get?

It's not that I'm not satisfied with the kernel I run, it's just that I'm certain there's some better one out there.
EDIT: What do you think of the kernel labeled Tiamat_N1-v4.1.0? From here: http://tiamat-dev.com/mahimahi/

the kernel you mentioned is what i am currently using as testing so far its working good with MIUI 2.3.23 and it offers up to 1.2GHZ overclocking which is not stable on my nexus at least

Any overclock beyond 1113 Mhz is unstable.

sry for my noob question. but is the kernel jus for oc purpose or for overall performance(battery life, call audio quality, smoothness etc)?
cos i am happy with stock kernel. no issues at all
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk

the stock kernel was good for me to it did not give me any trouble but i like to mess around with my devices the change log for the kernel can be found here
Code:
http://tiamat-dev.com/8x50-changes/
as you can see there are a few improvements to the kernel with each update

I have been having 3G mobile network issue with CM7 base ROM. On certain location, I cannot download and make or receive calls. my 3G icon arrows show upload activities but no download happening. My ISP name (Maxis Malaysia) showing as normal. I upgraded to CM7.2, tried Kang ROM, preshoot kernel and change new SIM card but doesn't help. Anyone has any ideas on this problem? ROM or Kernel issue? Thank you.

Which do you find best out of pershoot's kernel, IntersectRaven's kernel or tiamat's GB kernel?

[KERNEL] Stock Sense HTC Kernel 2.6.32.17

This is the latest available stock kernel (2.6.32.17-g9a2fc16) for Sense-based Incredible's. Nothing has been modified by me, it's the actual binary built by HTC. It's included in my 10/13 stock release (from a few days ago) but figured anyone on Sense may be interested in it. Before anyone asks, I don't know what's different. We don't have the source for this yet and HTC doesn't exactly provide a change log.

I've been running it for a few days now and it seems rock solid to me. So, experiment with it and enjoy.
Thank you ! will try.......
Thank you Sir! I will give er a go!
Thank you !!
I've been using it a couple of days now and it seems to charge faster. I was actually able to charge my phone while playing games on it which hasn't happened since 2.1.

I imagine this will be stock in the virtuous 3.1 release? And if so, will there still be any optional kernels upon install?
Thanks for this

Yes on both. The custom kernel will remain an option, albeit unchanged since source is not available yet to update it.

I'm using this on Lou's redemptive revo rom and it's sweet so far!
Works great on Skyraider 3.3 charging speeds have doubled, almost 1 percent a minute. Fast, stable, and battery life seems as good as stock 2.2 kernal...maybe even better just havent had enough time to do a full test yet.
Thanks for this.
Tired of Kings kernals always slowing down my phone and maybe with this and perflock set to be disabled on boot with SEPCPU I can keep my screen off profiles to save on some more battery life.
Just won't be able to o/c yet but not like I did much before anyway.
A bit sluggish

[KERNEL] CM7.1 Nightly Kernel + Voodoo Color and sound [CLOSED]

Lately, a lot of features where added in the CM7 Nexus S Kernel. The only big thing missing for me were the Voodoo Colors and Sound.
This is a custom kernel that I built that includes the lastest and greatest Nexus S kernel from the CM team + the addition of Supercurio's Voodoo Color and Sound.
Was only tested on NS, Not sure if it works on NS4G...
THIS IS ONLY FOR CM7.1 latest NIghtlies/Kangs
Latest!

Old:

Source for the kernel
Enjoy!
PS.: I did nothing but merging the CM team and supercurio's work. Be sure to thank them!
Can this be undervolted with SetCPU?
Thanks!gonna try it later

Can you undervolt the stock cyanogenmod kernel? I'd say no, it's something I don't think would be included by CM for similar reasons why they don't include other mods like voodoo (I imagine).

No OC or UV for this kernel. They do include quite a lot tho: BLN, BLX, touch wake... there's more but I forgot.
The captivate CM7 stock does include OC and UV so might see that at some point. I'm not planning on adding it in tho. I'll let the pros do it

Has anyone tried this yet? And I'm just curious as I'm new to the whole kernel thing since I just came from milestone xt720, is it normal to have double everything in the update.zip in the OP? I always check out zips before I flash them and there's two of everything, meta-inf, system, and kernel. Does this matter or should I just flash it? Thanks in advance.

check out the accessories section for my white case thread if any of you are interested
It looks like the next current nightly again contains a lot of commits to the Crespo kernel. Edit: Looking forward to the update.

There's plenty of kernels in the development forums

Bestiaginger kernel works for rooted 20c from rogers no issues and still great battery I have not had a rom work like this and I've tried all the rooms in the lg 3d forum.
So if you wanna go faster and smoother try this kernel. And I've also used v6 supercharger and kernelizer. This has been the best the phone has ever worked. So well that there is no lag and good mem usage now too since putting in the Bestiaginger kernal.

You probably should test and see what version best suits you. And you know that you do not need to use Overclock to use newest kernel.

I am raising this discussion because my experience of CoCore E9.8 with Harsh Jelly 5.1 could be far better. I have gone back to version 8 for my own observation and planning for going as much back as to 6.8 and observe.

I think 6.8 and 8.6 versions are the best if you don't need overclock.
9.8 defaults to 1000 mhz, you don't have to OC if you don't want to/can't.
Of course you can try versions that didn't include OC capabilities.

That's not the point.
Run your device on 9.8 for 2 days and then on 6.8 or 8.2 or 8.6 for two days.
Then share your experiences.
Your point being...? Just curious since I don't remember, was 8.6 the last release without OC capabilities? Because if so I think I know what you mean with all this.
Then, 9.8 is old (march-april). Cocafe is on exams and not developing... go check TC's github, the CM kernel part. It's had tens, maybe a hundred or so commits that cocore doesn't have from that point, and that kernel is probably more advanced/tuned than how 9.8 is, right now. We'll have to wait a little more.
