[Q] Specific Holiday VS Vivid - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I just noticed a weird difference in the holiday/vivid. Specs ideally are the same..
however the back covers aren't..
I just bought a case. that shows it.

VIVID
No holes?
My new silicone case has the little cutout.. not that it bothers me much. Was this an attempt to use the back cover as an antenna. The HTC aria had it.

Weird! What am I seeing in the hole at the bottom? Looks like 3x contacts of some kind...? My raider definitely doesn't have the cutout there, nor are .there any contacts in that area under my back cover. Weirdness.

It seems like most if not all. Case designers accomondated for it. and built around it.

I got a cheap case last fall from Amazon that was for the Raider. It has an opening in the lower right just like the pictures show. So, at some point, the Holiday or Raider had something there that HTC wanted exposed.

OP, the earlier pics you show were from the earlier prototypes of the Holiday line. At some point, they must have decided that they don't need those contacts, and that's why no region's Holiday has it.
I would hazard a guess, though, that when the case makers all got their "blueprint" for the phone, they got it before HTC had decided to remove it. I'd guess they got it while the phone was still in its prototype stage so that they have enough time to design and release it with the phone when it came out.

It could possibly have been contacts for a dock of some kind that didn't work out and HTC decided to do away with them.
Sent from my HTC Vivid using XDA app

those contacts are for a dock use.
and Holiday is just the model name of the phone no one actually has a "Holiday"
they'd have a Velocity, Raider, or Vivid.

Yeah, those three tabs would be used for a dock, the vivid/raider/velocity do use the back plate as an aerial, that's what the metal tab pushing against the back cover inside does. the HTC HD2(leo) had a similar prototype design that was dropped at the last minute

Question
How well does the external speaker work with those cases on?
I figured all you people that replied would know.

It's hard to see in the photos above, but the speaker is a thin opening at the top above the camera, running all the way across the Vivid. I would be surpised if any case designed for the Vivid/Raider/Velocity covered the speaker.

Incredible S cases and dock spotted

Taken from the Mobile Fun blog.....
With the launch of the HTC Incredible S in the next few days, I realised I had stumbled upon something which could shake the very foundations of the world (well the world of any Incredible S or potential Incredible S owner).
Whilst walking around MWC I saw some unusual HTC cases and accessories and was not 100% sure what phone they were for, but the odd shaped indent leaves me with no doubt now it is definitely for the HTC Incredible S.
There were a couple of HTC Incredible S cases what really drew me to a new case in particular is that it had a style never seen with an official HTC case before, we are used to TPU and leather ones, but this was something quite different. It had a funky design, and seemed to be made up of two distinct materials TPU round the sides (we assume for easy phone entering and exiting of the case) and a tough polycarbonate back for protection.
Having been a long time HTC user, but generally just an all round cool guy – I hope to see more HTC cases like this. Yes sure the leather and TPU cases are adequate, but I want to add some funk to my phone – so roll on these call cases, so hopefully this HTC Incredible S Case is the start of something new and different from HTC.

Even the standard TPU cases seem to be getting an upgrade, up to now they have been the same colour (a clear with a black tint), we saw them in different colours! (Again they look like they are for the Incredible S)
The other thing I spotted was an official desktop, and looking at where the charging port is and the size I would guess this too is for the Incredible S. It has been a while since we’ve seen an official dock (remember the CR G300?), but this is smaller and is definitely less in your face. In fact it looks a bit like the official Galaxy S deskstand. As a fan of deskstands I again see this as really positive.
The connector on the HTC incredible s i located on the left side of the device,
and not on the bottom. So the dock wont work?
The dock in the picture looks pretty wide, so i think it's for landscape orientation rather than portrait. I want one!
It's my 2nd trip to the PhoneHouse (Carphone Warehouse in France) today and they still got like no accessories for the Incredible S!
I'm only looking for a gel case and I can't find any online either. I tried EBay and a bunch of websites, everything is coming up and not available yet.
My local car phone warehouse had clip back style cases in made by casemate. Nice case actually. Adds very little extra bulk to the phone.

Droid 3 / XT860 Holster?

Since ditching BlackBerry last year, I couldn't let go of my BlackBerry swivel holster. All Android phones I've had since then have fit nicely in it... but now that I'm on the XT860 (droid3), its too tall to fit!
Has anyone seen one like this for the Droid3? The clip is probably the most important part for me...
What are you holster people using with your Droid3?

Does the phone slide in and out of it quickly and easily?
Yea that one. And I personally have no issues sliding it out. I dont like the feel of the keyboard slide without it.

I had one, but quite using it. Don't know if its because I was using it with the extended battery, but sliding the keyboard out, you could feel something dragging, and I had a couple of hard lockups due to overheating when playing games like dungeon defenders for very long. I decided to go for a Clip type holster.
Link Please

I can say its not as good of quality as the clip style I had for my original droid, but does what it needs to. I modified mine a bit and cut the release catch on the front down a little so it doesn't stick out as much and it works great. Easy to get the phone in and out of.
Like yourself, I have a Bell branded XT860 running on the rogers network! As well, I'm so used to Blackberry holsters that I needed one. Anyways, I found at the Best Buy mobile store they had a Samsung Galaxy S holster which seemed to fit the XT860 nicely!

problem with back cover

Hello. i have got my ace for about 3 weeks. Last week i ve noticed that my black back panel of phone is not good adhering in one corner and it makes not very comfortable sound if i push it softly with my hand in some situations. it is mostly noticible when i hold the phone in one hand. i m not aware that i wasn t careful when i put off and put on the cover. Is this thing under my warranty?
Is this thing under my warranty?
It would make sense if it was since even the backpanel is a part of the actual phone itself.
I experienced some creak-sound after accidently dropping the phone, so if it occurred after dropping the phone, technically you shouldnt get any compensation but you could just tell 'em that it was like that from the start.
Thanks, i will see my seller. I hope they will change it, because this really wasn't my fault.
So answer of customer centre was, that they will send the phone somewhere and if it is only back cover problem it will be replaced soon. but i don t get why they need tho whole phone in this case. I don t know if it is worth trying if i can have my phone back in one week but also in one month. Especially when i have also second white cover.
Not worth the whole process. What they will do with the phone is to check where to problem dwells. It might be that the phone got cracked/damaged, or it might simply be the backcover that got damaged somewhere.
Either way you'll end up wasting time.
If you check out this thread ull find a link to buy a new cover from ebay (only 6$), there is a black one for sale as well from the same seller, bought 1 black and 1 white from the seller, 100% satisfied with the covers.
But since you have a 2nd one already, if you dont mind it being white, just use it!
Wasn't there two back panels in your package? If so, try on the other cover.

Not all markets included the white backpanel.
yes i used white panel, but i like the black one more. my seller sent me to samsung service centre if i want to try repair/change quicker. however i was told there that the stuff like this and under warranty have to be sent with whole phone. so i asked how much cost the new black panel. it is 3 euros and some cents. i think it is good price so i have ordered one.
i only had one backpanel by my ace

Interesting looking metal back case

Looks like something right up my ally. I like the idea that the metal can pull some heat of the nexus 7.
I worry the headphone jack will be over covered and block many jacks >.<
What do you all think?

I doubt it'll work as an effective cooling method, unless the case is incredibly well moulded there will be a slight air pocket between the N7 and the case. And even if there is an effective contact method there's nothing to dissipate the heat from the metal part of the case. Is cooling really an issue with the N7 anyway? I've only ever noticed it becoming warm during long gaming sessions, and never to a point where I'd worry it was causing hardware damage (though in the long term it could affect battery longevity).
Looks awesome. I can't stand all these leather folio-type cases. There are already like 20 of them for sale but they all look the same. The only thing is it has no kickstand! ARGH!!! I had an Incipio Silicrylic for my Xoom and it was awesome. Where is this type of case for the Nexus 7!?!?!?!?!
I went ahead and bought it. Looks like good quality judging from the pictures. It doesn't ship out until the 20th though...just an FYI for anyone who was looking to order. I will post back with my opinion of it when it comes.
I don't much care for that big ugly logo on the back. If it were plain, maybe, but as it sits it's a big fat no for me.

Hi guys, got new genuine (not sure about it) galaxy note 2 back flip cover.
And noticed that it hasn't got two metal pins on it. Not sure why are they there for, IS IT MAIN ANTHENA? or has it anything to do with gps/wireless/bt ??
Should i remove it from my old back cover and replace, or it is not important thing ?
have a look at pictures, they will make more sense . Also what about area where question mark is ??????????

That'd be for the NFC antenna, which is in the top half of the back cover. If your replacement hasn't got this, it's NOT official.
Oh, and your pictures aren't working, so I'm just guessing that's what you mean.
Thank you man!! need to return it back than.

where did you get it from? retail shop or online?
My case doesnt have anything on the back either and I got it from the sprint store?
Do you mean the 2 brass flat points that look like rivets that seem to "touch" the 2 similar brass points right near the the SIM card? I have 2 cases, 1 direct from Samsung I got today and one from a local T-Mobile store (which is being returned because the Samsung was 1/2 price). The T-Mo case does not have it and the Samsung case does. Evidently they changed the design since a guy in this thread with a Sprint case does not have it either. I wouldn't yell "fake" so fast. They probably decided they weren't necessary.
