Go to Manage Application in Setting you will see a list of loaded programs. Choose the apk and the program will let you know if you can move it to the sdcard.

By default, all your apps and games are installed there (phone memory) but the data is what some apps and most games save in your sd card..
You can go to Settings > Apps and click on the app you want to have on your phone and see if the option "Move to SD card" is greyed out or not
This way you'll know which apps are stored in your phone memory and which are not..

Problems With SD Card Trash [Mac]

Yep, I'm on a mac. I've been having a lot of problems with SD Card space, even though only half of my 4Gb should be used. Whenever I look at it in Astro, I see ._name files for most every file I have had on there, including all of the ones I have removed. I tried to backup today, and got an SD Card full error, loaded it up in WhatSize and got this:

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So, I have 2Gb of deleted files in a .Trashes folder. WTF? I get an error when I try to delete the folder or open it in Finder. I thought that temp trash should be deleted when I Eject? I always safely eject, instead of just pulling it out.
TL;DR: Contents of SD card total 2.01Gb, shown on disc as 3.69Gb. The extra data is in .Trashes, and I can't figure out how to clean it. Halp?
Backup and format?

[Q] Internal storage and emmc - what's the difference?

Hi, I'm installed CM7 following this instructions , everything works perfectly but I noticed that the system is saying I've 1GB space in "Internal Storage", plus another 5GB in emmc.

}
Is this normal? I thought CM7 was supposed to get installed onto emmc, did I do anything wrong? And is there anyway I can move applications onto emmc instead of SD card or keeping on internal storage?
In this case the EMMC 5.00GB is the internal storage that B&N put in for books/music/videos etc. You are installed correctly

Can Google Music save music onto the SD card?

Is it possible to save music which is downloaded via google music onto the micro sd card?
I dont know for sure, I know that Google Music can download music for offline play, but I have never seen an area to select where it saves. My guess though would be that you can use an app like App2sd that could symlink things and move the folder location to the SD card so it downloads there but the OS still thinks everything is on internal storage and is none the wiser.
Yes you can save downloaded music straight to SD card:

[Q] innacurate storage data

Help! I've been getting a lot of "phone storage is low" messages lately on my M7. I would go in and delete a few pics and then some artists from my music library, but every time my apps updated I would get this message again. When I went into settings - storage it would show considerably more GB of music listed than I knew I even owned! To experiment, I went in and deleted ALL my music from the phone. Under settings - storage, it still shows that I have over 12GB of music, but when I tap the "make more space" option it doesn't even bring up music as an option. What's going on? Why does my phone think I have so many GB of music? (screenshots attached)

System size and storage space

Hi xda,
My friend has a P9, 32gb. However, apps like Disk Manager only show 25,1 gb available. 16 of which is taken by the system. This leaves 9 out of the 32gb for her to use. Is this normal? Is there something to do about it?
That definitely is not normal.
My phone currently has 18.21 GB of free space. And this is after I installed some apps and games.
A clean phone should have more than 20 GB of free space available to user.
Have you tried factory-reset her phone?
No, I'll tell her to try that, thanks. Here is an image that shows how little space she has
