[GUIDE]One Click Return to Stock i9020t/23 - Nexus S Android Development

This script returns to unrooted, factory state android 4.0.4.
1. Download this zip - Quicker download here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?pzrzrt3583rgbmf
2. Backup your phone (everything! sd, apps, games etc).
3. Plug in your phone, turn on USB debugging.
4. Unzip the downloaded files.
5. Open run.bat
6. Type in Y then press enter.
7. It does the rest.
Had to do this since i'm sending off my phone to samsung, basically used this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167819&highlight=unroot
and updated the images for 4.0.4 and for i9020t/23 (this won't work for nexus 4g or i9020a). It worked well for me so I thought someone else might find it useful.
If you're having problems it's probably because you haven't installed the windows drivers correctly, I can't really help you there (google it or something!)
If you want to thank anyone, go to the other thread and thank michaelpeerman. All credit goes to him.
Edit: By request, someone wanted the same thing but for 2.3.6, so here is the link for that
Edit: Someone else took over for jelly bean, found HERE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1807861&highlight=one+click

Hi there!
Is the One CLick 2.3.6 edition compatible with 9023?

I have a i9020T stock 4.0.4 never rooted. If I run the 2.3.6 script, will it go back to stock 2.3.6 without problems?

My understanding is that you require root to flash any ROM, this would be no exception. It wouldn't be that hard to root and then run the tool though.

But there'll be no problem rolling back to 2.3.6 from stock (rooted) 4.0.4?

Hi,
I got a really f******g problem with my NS. The power button is out of service. Thus my only aim is to get back to the unroot locked bootloader rom in order to send it to samsung.
I tried to do that manually with cmd.
I tried via Odin
I tried via your one click zip
I used my computer (the one i used to root it for the first time, guessing the drivers didn't change). Everytime, the command got stuck at 'waiting for device'. I thought it was a driver problem, tried to reinstall sdk, reinstall drivers. I'm still blocked at waiting for device.
I tried with another 'virgin' computer. I installed PDAnet to get drivers and make sure they work. (tried CMD or with your one click zip..) I'm still still stucked at waiting for device. However, my device do is recognised by both computers..4
Any idea?
Is my ****ing power button messing around?
Two days i'm drudging on this.. I'm thinking about suicide by now..

Sorry mate I really have no idea, maybe you could try calling up samsung and ask them if they would repair it even if you rooted? It is a developer phone and so they must understand that most people with a Nexus S root it..

I'm looking to sell my NS so wanted to get it back to stock and this script worked perfectly. Thanks so much!

I ran the latest version of Android on the Hero when I rooted using the simple regaw method, and I switch between WildHeroc and GB MIUI, but I don't do any other mods on my phone. How to get your BELL ATRIX HD onto At&t Jellybean (4.1.1) - Unlocked bootloader ONLY!
I would like to start saying that I’m not responsible for whatever happens to your phone. Thanks to MATTLGROFF who figure out this way of flashing this jellybean leak on my phone.
Having that said THIS IS ONLY FOR BELL ATRIX HD USERS THAT HAVE THEIR BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED. Please read thru and ask any questions before attempting
OK here we go:
1. I assume you’re in stock BELL ICS ROM (77.55.18.MB886.BellMobility.en.CA) … it doesn’t matter if you’re rooted or not. Make sure you have the motorola drivers installed.
2. Enable debugging mode on your phone (settings>development options> enable USB debugging)
3. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER. To do this open command prompt and type “adb reboot-bootloader” and check....
a. It should say: "Device is UNLOCKED. Status Code:1"
4. Now double check you’re unlocked.
5. Make sure you have a charged battery (more than 60%) and boot into fastboot. (if you're not already here)
6. Now download the stock ICS zip for At&t.
a. Unzip it
b. Make sure you have the fastboot files in the same folder/path as your fxz files.
c. Flash the boot.img from the at&t zip.
i. Hold the shift key down and right click on the unzipped folder. Now in the dropdown menu click “open command prompt here”
ii. Now type “fastboot flash boot boot.img”
d. Flash the system.img
i. "Fastboot flash system system.img”
ii. you should be in Stock att ICS rom now.
7. Now download the file for the stock at&t Jellybean zip. ( you will be able to go back to ICS --I have gone back to stock 4.0.4 Bell ROM-- bc you’re only flashing boot and system images)
8. Now start back at step 6 but with the jelly bean leak ---- Or you can try just going to settings and checking for updates! (haven't tried this yet - don't know if it will flash something we don't want it to UPDATE: I guess it doesn't work)
9. You should be on AT&T Jellybean now - and you probably(thanks soulja) lost root...

You might want to just clarify that "adb reboot-bootloader" puts the device into fastboot. Took me a few minutes to figure that out.

OK, so I think I followed the directions properly, it appears SafeStrap is gone, and I now get new boot animations, a "thumping" Motorola logo and then an AT&T Rethink Possible. But it seems to be stuck after it plays that, with the AT&T logo and "Rethink Possible" message. Help!
UPDATE: After much flailing about, I got it into Recovery mode (could only get there by adb reboot recovery, the vol up/down + pwr only gets me a white texted menu which included "factory" but didn't do anything".) Will see if this works.
UPDATE 2: YES! After the factory reset, I let it boot up again. I was about to give up and try going back to ICS, but then it went past the Rethink Possible logo to a configure phone screen.
UPDATE 3: What... OK so it thinks it's an AT&T phone now, that's OK. It also shows it connected to 4G which it never has (always E, H or H++) But it's still on 4.0.4 ICS even though I did load the JB rom. But I just checked updates and it's got 4.1.1!!
UPDATE 4: Update (98.4.20.en.US) downloaded. Hitting install now...
UPDATE 5: CRAP. After reboot "The software update failed!" I might try reflashing the file from 7.7.1Q-144_MB886_MR1-22_SIGNED_CFC
UPDATE 6: No joy. :/ Any tried flashing Blur_Version.77.12.22.MB886.ATT.en.US.zip? After the above procedure, is my phone now "really" an AT&T phone?
UPDATE 7: I followed the thread about fixing failed update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050416, and then got the OTA update. THIS TIME IT WORKS!!! I did lose root though. Oh well. I tried motofail2go again, but I couldn't get the "bug report" vibrate to happen.

First step is actually to get Motorola drivers installed on your PC, as well as adb tools. Sorry I don't have a link handy. Then from PC do the "adb reboot-bootloader".
Can this be done with at&t and why not ?
Seems like you can go jb > ics easily.

Ok. SO install the moto drivers first (just google them -Motocast)
Now the fastboot files and put them in the same folder or path of the system and boot.img
Now connect your phone and make sure its in debugging mode
Open command prompt (cmd) in the folder you have the files you want to install. (do this by holding shift and right click on that folder)
Now type adb reboot bootloader IN CMD. You phone should reboot into fastboot! :victory:

How about the 77.55.18.MB886.BellMobility.en.CA can we flash it to our unlocked Atrix hd? I saw that there's an update to JB 4.1.2. on this version. Thanks
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
I have an unlocked Bell Atrix HD. It was running 77.55.17 and I tried this method of flashing the AT&T software using fastboot and it didn't work. I could flash the boot.img, but when I went to flash the system.img.ext4 it would tell me that I had exceeded the download buffer. So at this point I had flashed the boot.img already and the phone wouldn't boot. I actually couldn't get any system.img files to flash from fastboot, even the Bell one, always the same exceeded the download buffer error. So I downloaded RSD lite and flashed the 77.55.18 Bell firmware to it via RSD lite and I was back in business again. At this point I just said to heck with it with fastboot and then flashed the stock ICS AT&T firmware via RSD lite only having used the modified XML file that is suggested to use. This worked perfectly fine as well. I was then able to root with motofail and use voodoo to backup my root. Then I just let it do the JB update OTA and that worked perfectly fine as well and then restored my root through voodoo and verified I still had root. Everything looks fine. The funny thing is I'm selling this phone, I have a Galaxy Note II now, but I was worried if I sold it with the Bell firmware nobody would want it since it was still ICS. Should be a bonus to someone that its unlocked, and rooted already hopefully.

Indeed, so glad I didn't brick it, lol. Maybe it was something wrong with the fastboot executables I used, I used the same ones I had downloaded a couple weeks ago to flash the HTC One V's that I got my kids for Christmas and not the ones linked to in the original post. It worked fine for for the One V's, not for the Atrix HD for some reason. Oh well, I just like tinkering with this stuff.

Phone keeps rebooting

Hi,
I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice please.
I bought my son a new carrier unlocked HTC Sensation XL. It came with Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). For the first week it worked perfectly. A message popped up saying there was an update and did he want to install it. He left it on all night with Wi-Fi enabled. Next morning it said update successfully completed and to restart the phone (which he did).
The first most obvious thing he noticed was the interface had changed. I checked the settings and found it had updated to ICS 4.0.3. This is when the problems started. The phone began to restart over and over.
In desperation we tried removing the battery and doing a factory reset. It made no difference. Once the phone was on for about 20 seconds it would restart and not stop until we turned off the phone or the battery went dead.
We even tried the hard reset as suggested by HTC support but no change.
Any suggestions as to how we might fix this?
Is there any way we can get the phone to reset back to 2.3.5 or do we have to send it back to where we bought it from?
cheers

Would require rooting the phone and installing recovery? The phone is still under warranty but as it was bought online I was hoping not to have to send it back. At the moment it is still stock and I'd prefer not to to do anything that will void warranty.

Well first of all you need to know what your cid is and download right ruu/stock rom.
Then just plug your phone in to computer when fully rebooted(usb-debug on) and run downloaded gingerbread exe.

Exactly, first back to GB and then again update to ICS. Maybe you could use one of these to make it a bit easier.

Many thanks guys. I appreciate the help.
cheers
If you have debugging enabled just get adb for your computer, open command line, cd to the directory of adb the execute 'abd getvar cid' and get your cid, then go online and find the ruu that suits your cid and phone, the run it on windows and just follow the prompts!
And done!

[Q] HTC One Mini 2 Demo Unit, any way to remove demo mode?

Hi Guys!
So I got my hands on an HTC One Mini 2 Demo Unit. Don't ask me how or why. (NOT STOLEN!)
I have tried to get rid of the Demo mode app but without success.
This is what I have done:
Unlocked the bootloader
Flashed TWRP
This is what I have tried to do to get rid of the demo mode:
Wiping and factory reset from TWRP. About 1 minute after the phone has booted it autoinstalls the Demo Mode again. Before it does all functions is available etc, after the demo mode is installed some options and functions is disabled.
Rooted, Installed Xposed and module BootManager to stop Demo Mode from booting, no success the demo app still starts upon boot
Tried to uninstall the app with various root uninstallers, they just fail.
Tried wiping ALL partitions etc from TWRP and restored an original HTC One Mini 2 system dump from another thread, same thing. After about one minute the Demo application autoinstalls itself and some functions is diabled and the annoying demo mode starts now and then, and blinkfeed is full of sh*t, demo contacts etc.
After I reboot all settings etc is restored to it's original state.
Any ideas how I can force the phone not to install the demo mode after reset?
Thanks!
Update: Flashing the Cyanogenmod firmware from another thread does not install the demo mode and the phone works as it should. I can call etc. But I only have 3G not 4G, don't know if it has to do with the sim or not (borrowed a nano-sim from a collegues iPhone 5s).
But anyhow I would like to have the HTC firmware instead, any ideas?
Maybe someone has another system dump/ruu/firmware or any of the sort I can try. Perhaps the firmware I tried in the other thread also was a demo-firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55107684&postcount=6)

As you probably figured it was an app in the ROM so installing a custom ROM or reverting back to stock will get rid of the problem (as you've already done it)

Thank you for your answer. I have however tried to restore the original ROM and another original dump from this forum but the app installs itself anyway. Any idea where I can get another clean ROM or system dump?

I'd unlock it first on htcdev and then root and flash a custom recovery.
Then you'd either flash back to stock or flash a custom ROM.
I hope this helps

As stated in the OP I have already unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom recovery. CyanogenMod works but very buggy build, and either way I would like to have the original ROM or something close to it (Sense). Unfortunately there are no custom roms for this phone yet (other then CM). I have only found one original TWRP dump that I tried but the demo mode installed itself on that dump as well. I don't know why it installed itself on the original rom from this forum... Thanks

Sorry, my bad.
My understanding is that this is an app so if it's not in the ROM then it cannot run.
There are a few other custom ROM but if you want stock follow this by the letter.

Those instructions and ROMs are for the HTC One Mini and not the HTC One Mini 2. Also as far as I know there is no way to get S-OFF on the HTC One Mini 2 yet.

Mini 2 works the very same way (obviously with its own ROM)
Do some digging

Thanks! I will give it a try, does not matter if I brick it anyways. My fiance dropped it and broke the glass so I will get a new demo unit.

Download stock rim flashable via twrp and open it using WinZip or winrar goto system/etc/ and delete '.demo' folder. Then repack and flash, problem solved.
no need for reading the whole thread. in twrp mount preload and by using the twrp file manager navigate to /preload and delete everything you can find inside! do a factory reset and flashing "org" firmware should be done...

I was going to do same thing, but how do you repack ? I mean I packed it with WinRAR, or 7Zip, but they compress the file, or maybe they don't pack it as TWRP format, so TWRP didn't recognise my file. Simply, how do you pack it ?

Open the zip file that you want to flash with any zip manager you like, you don't need to extract the files, just navigate to the folder and delete the .demo folder and it will automatically repack it. Close it and copy it to your phone and flash normally. It will work.

Odd "bricking"

OK, twice now this has happened.
The first time was after I updated some apps. The second was when I had installed a new app.
Initially several apps then fail to work, they open and close straight away.
I reboot and phone hangs on first M screen - before the swirly white bits.
Into recovery from there shows dead Android with open chest and Explanation mark (I think)
Factory reset from recovery fail doesn't seem to do anything
Only solution is to flash official ROM using RSD
Phone is totally UK Orange Stock - not unlocked or rooted.

To access recovery in the Android with open chest and Explanation mark : press Volume up AND down some times to get in recovery
and in recovery try factory reset.

Thanks for that, it may be useful in future, but any ideas what may have caused this?

See http://forum.xda-developers.com/razr-i/general/index-razr-t2832722 - should answer all your questions - but yes, you can use RSD on any phone, without unlocking or rooting - it is the official Motorola tool. The O2 De ROMs are on the linked page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028814

By looking at your other post you are using this zip file in RSD-lite: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028814
As the Titel of the thread says, they are 'OTA' updates. So only usable through recovery and when going from a working 4.0.4 stock rom to 4.1.2.
That's why u are getting that error. The zip is not intended to be used through RSD-Lite.
U will need to get your hands on a JB RSD-Lite firmware zip file. This site: http://motofirmware.com/files/category/24-smi/
Has some firmwares, not all.

Thanks I followed Eserims advise. I also found this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239706 before, but only working link was Retail UK/British and I wasn't sure if I can use it since i have O2DE.
But on the site you showed me I found this: CFC_9.8.2I-50_SMI-26_S7_USASMIJBO2DE.xml.zip. I don't know what CFC means, but I'm going to try it, thank you.
Update:
It's working... Couple of days reading threads, searching the internet and nothing, than Hazou came and it's done, thaks again.
